Was thinking more about the doomed sets in the unreleased catagory, and went
for a second look.

I clicked on a item and noticed that the banner on the top said, "This Item
was Likely Not Released".

Key word for me "LIKELY".
How are we supposed to know for sure if a item was not released if no one can
put one up for sale?!?

So my request is that you allow sellers to sell the item, but only in the conditions
of sealed or new.

If anyone has one of the unreleased items and would like to list it for sale,
they can inform us. Then we'll look into it and remove the "not released"
flag if necessary.

But most sellers won't think of that or have the time to bother.

Have you seen the BrickLink catalog? There is so much stuff here that is not
cataloged anywhere else. Over the 24 years that this site has existed, I would
say that almost anything that any user has had has found its way into the catalog
somehow. And we still get rare and old stuff submitted all of the time. If any
of these sets actually existed, they would have most likely turned up by now.
And like Jonas said, if they do turn up, all they have to do is send a message
or make a request like everyone else who wants to contribute.

Ok, but could you put a note on the items stating, that if you have one to contact
the admins?

Since there isn't anything here that we can do from the catalog side regarding
the unreleased items (we can neither change the wording nor the listing policy),
I have moved this thread to "General".

I do have a set to be added to the unreleased catagoy though.
(No I don't have it, but I know of it)
Where do I add it?

What set would that be?

The legendary 60278 Crook's Hideout Raid.

Better known as "the dynamite factory"

I have had prototype parts that I actually have in-hand rejected from the BrickLink
catalog because they were never officially released. My impression is that those
sets existing in the catalog at all is really just a remnant from a more permissive
BrickLink era.

I had a buyer leave negative feedback. In his email message he writes, "If
this is not dealt with appropriately I will be forced to leave my first negative

policy, correct?

Nothing wrong with writing to a seller in advance and letting the seller know
that you are STILL(?) waiting for an issue to get resolved, and that you are
willing to leave a negative feedback if it wont get resolved.

If you have wronged the buyer AND have not offered a suitable solution - negative
feedback is warranted. It is not extortion.

I told him to sent the order back for a refund(he refused) and he said he wants
to keep the original pieces AND have me send new ones.....Sorry I do not do that,
its called "unjust enrichment"

It's not clear here, were you asking him to pay extra shipping to fix a mistake
on your part?

these are and exactly how to value these? There’s literally nothing on the boxes

I assume there are just multicolored bricks inside of here, but is it possible
that these are actual sets of something? Or just random bricks? Both boxes
are unopened and I don’t want to open them. Any help would be much appreciated!

I would be very interested in these — I haven't seen them before, but I live
very close to Loveland, this is a rare find for sure

Hello. I've read several posts about there being a range of "pearl gold"
colors, but I just received an order with Pearl Gold Frogs, and half looks PG
and the other looks like a weird bronze color.. like a cheap gold necklace that
eventually turns your skin green. They came in the same order, so I'm baffled.
Also, to my knowledge, the only gold color for the frogs is Pearl Gold. What
in the name of frog is going on?

I'm not so sure here. Those do look darker and more reflective than even
the extremes of Pearl Gold — it should be easy to tell if it's a coating
by checking underneath, since parts are rarely completely covered.

What stands out to me is the molding seam that goes up the front, but slightly
off-center. I looked at my frogs and couldn't find any like it, in any color.
Is it possible they aren't Lego at all?

What existing set? That set number is not on BrickLink.

I can't find that ID anywhere on it — mine has 2298628 on the sleeve (likely
a standard element ID), and GEN-DEMO-02 on the disk. Could we add those as alt

*
3846px3 Minifigure, Shield Triangular with Red/Maroon Quarters Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Shield

1. Are px2 and px21 using the same “Peach” colour?  px2 seems more Yellow / Bright
Light Orange than Nougat.

2. Shouldn’t “Maroon” be “Dark Red” and “Peach” be “Nougat” (as used by LDraw)?
(IOW, shouldn’t descriptions use “real” colours?)

These are tricky — Dark Red wasn't introduced to the palette until much later,
so I doubt that TLG would consider it the same color. I think in some cases it
might actually be just red over black — see the first attached picture, where
the maroon looks like just red where it overlaps the peach. In the second photo,
you can see a sliver of red on the bottom right edge, which implies that the
two black checkers were overprinted with a full red shield. But I've yet
to see a misalignment that actually reveals the black layer itself.

After looking at set pictures on google/brickshelf, I think all the peach printing
on those shields (and all the torsos that feature that shield design) are likely
the same Nougat, it just varies a bit based on the part color showing through.

(I REALLY wish I could find more info on old ink colors!)

...they might just be black with not enough colorant, too (a manufacturing defect).
That happens sometimes even in released sets. Without colorant, materials like
polypropylene and ABS are just milky white.

  Hello all,

I am looking to list some rare Bionicle prototypes/recolors I have from back
in the day and wondering what to classify some of the colors as.

For the weapons and mask, would you say the darker color is pearl dark gray,
trans-black, or something else? They look closest to pearl dark gray in normal
lighting, but they are also translucent when backlit (second photo), which pearl
dark gray is not. For reference, I have included some pearl dark gray beehives,
the Vahki leg (lower center) is definitely pure trans-black, and the Zamor sphere
balls are pure black with red marbling.

Also, for the shadow leech (lower right), would you say it's trans-orange,
trans-neon-orange, or something else? It seems a bit redder than trans-orange,
but it's not completely neon.

Thanks for any thoughts!

I would guess Trans-Black. Transparent colors always look more opaque in polypropylene
plastic — see the vahki eye parts for example. (that said, polypropylene Black
parts are slightly more translucent than ABS black parts...)

For the shadow leech, the usual test is to shine a UV light on it and see if
it glows, but being rubber that might not be as reliable. It might even be an
even marbling of two colors like some squid ammo.

Very nice parts, I'll watch for them to be listed

They do look rather custom made…

LegoLand Discovery Centers have engraving machines behind the checkout counter
where you can pick out a keychain brick and they'll engrave any text you
want on it. I grabbed a 3001 from the PaB wall and had them put "3001" on the
side :p So these could be technically "official" while not being rare at all.

Any item that has been custom engraved, even by a LEGO LDC, fall foul of point
4 here:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=103

And if this is not a custom engraving, but a factory version of the LEGO company?

There is no evidence that these were created by LEGO. The LDC engravers are quite
high quality and reproducable, as they are essentially small CNC devices. They
are not hand engraved, at least the ones I have seen. Any CNC can make these
in a reproducable way without flaws. But also the strange font and the use of
V.I.P instead of VIP does not look at all like they are official LEGO.

I'm not sure about the "high quality" part — but maybe different locations
use different machines. This is how mine came out (LLDC Schaumburg):
