Another month of GST you owe back to Canadian seller with a GST number already.
When will this issue be solved?

Will there be a response this month. The bill that BL owes me is growing, am
I allowed to start charging interest?

  Hello

I'm looking into starting to ship to the US (my store is in Canada and currently
only sells domestically) but I don't know what to charge for taxes and who
I'd owe it to (Do I owe something to the IRS? customs fees?)

This is the last step before I start selling to the US and I look forward to
start being able to do so, as this would multiply the amount of potential buyers
for me by more than 4x

bricklink handles collecting tax but if their are any import fees its the buyers
responsibility to pay them. if the order is over like $400 USD you need to add
a commercial invoice but that's not something done to regularly. don't
forget tho that you cant send lego via lettermail to any other country then Canada
so if you sell lego parts you need to ship them parcel to the USA

And be sure to never accept or propose anything other than an Onsite payment
method (PayPal Onsite or Stripe, like you have in your store now) for US buyers:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1401495

also I noticed you collect sales tax in your bricklink store so I just wanted
to confirm you have a GST/HST number as unless you are registered to collect
tax you are not allowed to collect tax in Canada

Isn’t it mandatory to show that number when you’re registred?  (It is for VAT.)

yup at the very least in your terms page or else something like what I do like
this

It is a GST requirement to show your number on every invoice.

they file a chargeback with their credit card company, saying they did not authorize

should never have been charged to their card.)

Another month later, Paypal sides with them, and reverses the payment and charges
me a $20 fee on top of it.

I looked at their feedback today, and it appears they have done this to at least
one other seller recently.

Shouldn't this be what our BL fees go to, stepping in to vouch for multiple
sellers that got their money taken away?

They quickly step in when multiple buyers get the shaft.

Tyson.

Too much time has passed for me to file a non-paying buyer (and the rules seem
to indicate that it would be removed even if it was still in the timeframe).
It's too late to change my feedback for them.

What is the official process for me?

yannbellucci if anyone is curious.

Thanks in advance,

Tyson.

Just tried ordering these items.
The black and dark red showed the IC unavailable icon.

These colours do work with IC at other stores, so must be a setting on your end.

What happens if you delete the listing and then re-add it?

During the checkout process, it showed this error under all but the request for
invoice shipping method.

“Instant Checkout/Invoice is not currently available for this method due to missing item information.“

It can’t be a shipping setting as it lets the other colours go through as IC.

It also gave me the AB, QC, NWT, NV, YK Package shipping method, instead of BC,
MB.

On that note, BC and MB should be treated the same as AB, QC etc. we only pay
the GST, that is until BL gets their Canadian tax situation sorted out

Also, you have your PayPal me address listed under payment policies. You should
probably remove that so buyers have to use on-site and can’t just send you the
payment directly, thereby avoiding BL tax collection.

Well the BC government disagrees with you. According to your province I'm
required to collect and remit BC provincial tax. You may want to review when
you charge provincial tax.

BL defaults to the lowest shipping option automatically, unfortunately users
have to change to the correct province manually.

Having my PayPal address visible does not allow people to circumvent BL tax,
as it only accepts automatic payments from the States on the shipping setting.

Thanks for the feedback.

But hey, that's just my three cents . . .

You are making an assumption they are on a different platform. There was a Candaian
seller within a year that decided to just list a buttload of other Canadians
inventory at a huge markup and just buy from other Canadians and ship to their
customer taking the difference which is hugely against BL terms.

As far as I'm concerned if they are asking for no invoice to be put in they
are screwing the customer and should be outed as a scammer. The customer should
know they can buy directly off the people holding the stock and taking the risk
not just someone spending time on a computer without any risk and probably breaking
other rules if they are this unscrupulous. I say all drop shipping should be
blocked at all costs. Why should people on eBay get screwed just because they
don't know about Bricklink?

Take a stand and ask for an explanation. I have one customer who corrects mistakes
in her inventory (which are probably BL's fault) and dropships through me,
but she is upfront and doesn't care if I tell the customer where it comes
from; if it's honest and upfront I have no issue with BL and you making the
sale. But does BL and eBay need commission on the same piece(s) while the customer
pays for both of those markups? LEGO is too expensive already.

Fight the power!!!

- Primarily a heads-up as this could have a financial impact for BrickLink if
they are in error of collection from some sellers:

I was checking the receipt for the Nov/Dec because I am registered for GST/HST
and I am refunded as an ITC credit for these amounts paid (whether it be a service,
for goods, etc..). The newsletter made me realize it was already starting to
be collected. I noticed the receipt had no GST # on it, which in Canada is usually
required when you collect GST/HST. I'm not exactly sure how it works for
the cross-border digital tax like this one (and I'm not talking about the
ones you guys will implement in the future - just the one on the seller's
commissions), but when researching, I found this (and BrickLink is most definitely
aware that I'm GST/HST registered as I'm the one who keeps pushing for
tax settings for Canada ):

_____

Determining the status of your customers
Your customer is considered a specified Canadian recipient if:

-the usual place of residence of the customer is situated in Canada, and
-the customer does not provide you with satisfactory evidence that the customer
is registered for the GST/HST under the normal GST/HST regime.

If you obtain the GST/HST registration number of your customer who is registered
for the GST/HST under the normal GST/HST regime, you are not required to charge
and collect the GST/HST on the specified supply that you make to this customer.
If the GST/HST registered customer provides their GST/HST registration number
and the GST/HST is still charged and collected, the customer is able to request
a refund from you. Any GST/HST paid by the registered customer in such cases
is not recoverable by claiming an input tax credit or by filing a rebate application
for an amount paid as tax paid in error.

___

If I'm interpreting this correctly, and I'll verify with CRA today, BrickLink
wasn't supposed to be collecting this tax on sellers who were already registered
for GST/HST and we can request a refund not from the CRA, but from BrickLink
and BrickLink will not be able to reclaim this from the CRA because it was an
error in how they collected.

Reference: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/businesses/topics/gst-hst-businesses/digital-economy-gsthst/charge-collect/cross-border.html
(that blurb came from the "Who charges and collects the GST/HST"

We have received your message and passed it along to the appropriate team. Just
to clarify, the tax BrickLink is charging Canadian sellers now is tax on the
fees, not tax on the orders. Charging the tax due on an order is a separate matter,
and BrickLink is working with the Canadian authorities to determine our obligation
in this area. We will share the result of that discussion when it is settled.

Another month of GST you owe back to Canadian seller with a GST number already.
When will this issue be solved?

Thanks for the link. I wonder how old it is? I initiated the process because
I moved from Ontario to Alberta. I'm now in Alberta and moving in to the
new house tomorrow, so I changed my address on BL. I was able to change my address
for "My Personal Information" without an issue. However, changing my
store address is when I ran into the re-verification. I changed the address and
then before submitting, it popped up a warning that this would close my store
until I completed the verification process, which it did. Still hoping for a
quick turnaround.

I changed my address within Edmonton and there were no such issues, perhaps it
was because it was a cross-country change?

A lot. I want a lot of stuff. I do agree with items others have mentioned to
reduce confusion within the website, but am going to take a different angle here.

I'll try to keep the list short and focus mostly on increasing what Buyers
want cause it falls in line with what sellers want, which is increased sales,
increased traffic, and increased daily excitement putting together Lego orders
for other lovers of Lego. I can't tell you the joy I receive every time someone
visits my store and then the additional joy of seeing an order that I can go
pack up and fulfill.

1) I want buyers to know that BrickLink exists so more of them come here vs going
to Amazon. I don't have the answers on how you advertise but I can't
say I've ever seen any either. Put it this way, there is not 1 person in
my life that I have discussed Lego with that has ever heard of BL prior to me
introducing them to it. We are not talking about a few people, this is hundreds
of friends and family. They all have children, nearly all those children love
building Lego, nearly all those children receive at least 1 Lego set for Xmas/birthdays...
yet none know where to purchase Lego beyond Amazon, Walmart, or Target. What
really hurts though is many of them really dislike the invoice system, see #2
below as they want to shop, checkout and then see their purchase in their mailbox.
They don't want delays in-between.

2) For Domestic Orders as I think this should be possible for every country but
I am not sure entirely - I want every store to be required to have Instant Checkout
for every order cause I am growing tired of seeing the posts about X seller is
now charging this, or personally when I see X seller charging Retail shipping
vs Commercial... every store can keep their terms on costs but each store should
be fully capable of figuring out what works for them to provide instant checkout
with shipping costs built in too at various levels. It isn't difficult to
know our own inventory and know how much shipping would approximately cost for
domestic orders and if a seller gets burned a little, like many of us have, we
learn from it and move on.

3) along with #2 as I don't see that happening, then stores that are 100%
instant checkout from a buyers perspective, should be highlighted for them so
a buyer knows that they can fully checkout and bypass having to wait for invoices
etc... we should be adapting to what buyers want vs buyers having to adapt to
what each seller wants. I want to buy things from other sellers too, but as
an example, am SOOOO tired of being quoted Retail shipping when I know they are
paying commercial. I decline every single quote or request for shipping cost
when I know it is much higher than what I know they would actually be paying
especially when I ship orders every day and have the capacity to look up what
actual shipping would be from Point A to Point B. Some terms specifically say
"retail" which is fine, I just avoid them, but many are not clear enough.

Maybe this list is too strong and maybe too difficult and some sellers would
be turned off by these ideas. I have no doubt that many sellers would dislike
having to implement the above, however, for the betterment of the site, I think
it would do wonders to really help streamline Bricklink to be more what buyers
want to retain them and gain new customers for everyone, and add in a little
advertising and this could really become the 1st place customers go to get their
Lego.

Thanks

I am all for either requiring Instant Checkout or highlighting sellers that do.
Even as a seller, I hate the guesswork when buying, and sometimes the sellers
come back with an out-of their... out of this world shipping price!

except many cant in Canada yet

Why not... no reason.

New shipping option available for packages across Canada!!! Check https://chitchats.com/locations
and if there is a ChitChats branch location (not drop spot) convient to you.
I can ship a package to you for $6-8!!!! That's almost the fuel surcharge
for Canada Post across country. The only hook is you have to pick it up from
the branch you indicate. If this works for you ask for a quote and give me the
location you want your order to arrive at. There is a size limitation on the
packages so not everything can go this way, but most items shouldn't be an
issue.

UPDATE: CRA/GST Rulings called me back AM of Jan 11, 2023. Unless we hear otherwise
from BrickLink, they ruled that BL falls under Subdivision E meaning that those
of us who have a CRA GST # are not to have taxes charged and collected on commission
dues, and we cannot claim these as ITCs as the tax was never to have been collected
in the first place (and would be refunded by BrickLink). He asked that I provide
the info to BrickLink (which I have via e-mail). He also stressed that we do
not put in the taxes paid as ITCs as if you're audited later, it could cause
issues (not to mention, their invoice doesn't have their GST/HST registration
#s on it). They should be refunded by BrickLink.

If they end up having a way to register as SUB-D (under DIV-5) it means they
could tax all like we do, and we could claim ITCs. But as he ruled this morning,
their location of their systems that run the platform (for which we are charged
commission to use, which is what the tax is on), is in the US and falls under
SUB-E as part of the digital economy rulings. It should hopefully not take long
to get confirmation from BL's tax team as to how they are registered as they
should have this info on hand.

Anything from BL Russell?

Tyson

PS Would you like the GST numbers already supplied in your hands?

I don't think it's the real problem.

Server resources.
As of right now it can take up to a couple of seconds to have a shipping method

13, not sure) for Canada, etc.
And other countries?
Then the computing time will litteraly explode.

Programming is already almost impossible.
As of right now I've 149 Shipping methods, and will add 20 more, soon.
There's no way to upload a delimited file to program them, it's a basic
point and click and type form you've to manage.
How will you set up all your various methods with an extra Region or State field,
which means you'll duplicate or triplicate each method?

In short, and as of right now - I don't think BrickLink can manage this,
and I don't think sellers realize the silly extra job they're asking

Perhaps you shouldn't comment if you don't know the situation. Each province
has a different tax that BL is supposed to be charging (just like they have instated
for particular states) to all customers due to provincial internet sales laws
already in effect. And programming is so simple it isn't even funny. Each
province has particular letters that start their postal codes (requirement of
every address in Canada). I could write the script in about 1/2 hour.

Should have been implemented ages ago.

is registered for the GST/HST under the normal GST/HST regime.

If you obtain the GST/HST registration number of your customer who is registered

and collect the GST/HST on the specified supply that you make to this customer.

  Admin Russell,
To clarify what the issue on the Sellers end is that Emporiosa is seeking
to have addressed is that any entity collecting GST either for a Goods or a Service,
as in the case of the fees Bricklink collects, that entity is obliged to provide
their GST# on the bill/receipt they issue for that collection. An entity that
charges for GST on an eligible Goods or Service that either fails or refuses
to provide their GST# when billing for it will run afoul of the CRA. Those of
us who already collect GST on our sales on Bricklink and are registered businesses
with the CRA will obviously be claiming our ITC's, of which any GST Bricklink
collects for its services will be a part. CRA will very quickly realize that
Bricklink is doing so without providing its GST #.

Andrew,

I think you missed the point of this one. Emporiosa actually says that BL is
not allowed to charge GST on fees as a cross border entity and that those that
are collecting GST/HST and remitting should not have been charged GST/HST in
Nov/Dec. And we are not allowed to use this as an ITC and BL should refund those
fees as they charged them incorrectly.

This has happened more than once now.

1. I place an order with a given store, then make my payment.
2. The seller advises me that some parts are missing, gives me a refund for said
parts, then still proceeds to fulfill the order.

This is NOT right, and as a 'community', there are some common Courtesy
Rules we need to live by. The fact that my order is not complete now forces me
to go buy parts from another store, and pay again for shipping. Every seller
MUST understand this and consult first with the buyer BEFORE fulfilling the 'reduced'
order.

I don't like the unpleasant "Every seller MUST understand" part, frankly.

There is no Common Courtesy, Common Sense or any Common solution to this problem.

Say Buyer places a 1382 Items order in 192 Lots, but Seller's missing 2 1x2
Plates for a total of 0.07$

First: Buyers may see a Wanted-List as an automation (it's a computer file),
but when in preparation ("picking") it's an Human Activity.
Isn't it perfect enough when you comply to 99.99855% of a task?
Remember some sellers may count (often manually) thousand, thousands of items
every day up to 7/365.
Inventory count, errors, preparation WILL be subject to errors.

Second: Sincerely, you're sure the Buyer is right?
I mean, he can also make an error in counting, or those 2 parts could fell in
the carpet, or he's forgotten a tiny zip bag in the packaging.
And was the Wanted-List exact?

Third: Apart if you pick them yourself on place, there's almost no store
in the World you can order 2 tiny nails, 3 small basic screws, 17 common bolts,
etc.
They're sold in bags of 10, 25 or 50 or by the weight (with no quantity guaranteed).
BrickLink is an exception, and Buyers think they'll order 527 parts and will
receive the exact 527 ordered.
And they'll assume they don't make any error - like discovering they
need 528 in fact, or lose 2 on the ground...

Fourth: Suppose you're right and 2 above parts are missing, and the seller
knows.

So he writes an e-mail to the Buyer asking for what to do... but the Buyer doesn't
often read e-mails, doesn't see it.
So, 2 days later, the Seller sends a BrickLink message to the Buyer.
But here also the Buyer doesn't notice (PLENTY of Buyers don't reopen
their order or their BrickLink account after the Order...)
Then, 4 days later the Seller didn't get any reply; should he ship anyway,
or wait more and risk an NSS (no kidding, it happened) or a PayPal claim because
it's still not shipped?

Even if the Buyer receives; what can be done?
Obviously, Seller is missing 2 parts, maybe he can't obtain them in an acceptable
delay.
He can't 3D Print them, so what can he do better than say "Sorry, I'm
missing this"?

Or should he replace 2 1x2 Plates by an extra 1x4 Plate?
And if he's missing also this 1x4 Plate, or shipped the wrong one?
Argh.

Alternatively, should the Seller express order 1000 of them (because sellers
don't order 2 parts), and spend 100$ for 0.07$ missing and later ship those
2 at a cost of 5$ shipping?

There's no proper solution.

It's an Human Activity, and it can't match the perfection of a (supposedly)
exact Wanted-List - especially while often we're talking about cents.

Some comprehension from the Buyer ALSO seems to me closer to Courtesy.

As about my Shop - if I don't have the said missing parts, I'll ship,
then list them to the Buyer, refund or coupon.
If I know I'll have them later on, I often propose to ship them separately
if he prefers.

That's it, and I've tried absolutely ALL other solutions while on BrickLink
for 16 years.

And OF COURSE, I'm talking about a minor miss; if a Seller's missing
1/3 or 1/2 of the order he SHOULD contact the Buyer first.

Those were my 2 missing parts cents.

Very reasonable and wise explanation. After 2 years of waiting for problem orders
with a response rate of well under 10% (not many problems, but still). I switch
to immediate refund and telling the customer they are short. I pride my store
on quick turnaround, so fast refund is the best solution for my store. Than maybe
the customer has a chance with a slow store to get the missing part in their
other order, because who gets everything they need on a Wanted list at one store,
right?

I have noticed the disappearing of a few lots in the store of used parts earlier
but I then decided I might have made an error when I created them.

I'm not detecting lots or quantities disappearing, but a couple of time I
detected created lots or additional quantities (in short, BL "inventing" an extra
inventory).

I couldn't believe it happen, but had full clear proofs.
I didn't report it, it's a lost cause, sorry BL

But the ONLY way to be sure is to either use BrickStore and download and SAVE
your whole inventory every day, or download your Inventory from BrickLink as
an XML, in the Inventory/Dowload page.

Otherwise it's just guessing, and 99% of the times it's probably
your fault.
Or a part renaming thing in Catalog.
Or a transaction that just happens and hides part of your inventory for 10 minutes,
or up to the next day.

So - just have a copy of your Inventory (BSX or XML) - every day - that you can
compare to.
Then report with exact proofs.

I'm sure there are some issues with the database server side.

I definitely have cases where I count incorrectly, and list incorrectly, but
I am 100% positive that BLs internal database management causes issues.

Last week I added two of a part (new lot) next day I sold 4. I still had the
uploaded file and my store inventory open in Brickstore on my PC at this point,
I'm 100% sure I only uploaded 2 and had none beforehand.

I believe these bugs come from the 10 minutes daily maintenance. When uploading
large batches to my store, if I work over this window I often find missing changes
and/or errors that creep in. I don't have the time or patience to chase them
down, but there are funky things happening in those 10 minutes. But BL will blame
Bricksync.

Hi! I'm finally clearing out my "to identify" bin of parts. I first searched
for these a year-plus ago when I was initially listing parts, and I just tried
all of them again (and found over half of them, though I have about a dozen stickered
parts to add to the catalog now). All of these have been searched for using the
parts they're attached to, so it's likely that the stickers are on incorrect
parts or they're not in the catalog yet.

Thank you very much for any and all help you can offer! If any of the parts aren't
in the catalog yet, please point me to the correct set and I'll be happy
to add them. Here's an Imgur link in case the higher quality helps: https://imgur.com/a/mTBFcD7

A few notes:

#6 stickers are rectangular and transparent, and I'm pretty sure I've
seen them before, but they didn't come up in a general search for "Imperial
logo" or "Republic logo"

I believe #12 says "HEARTSTART" with a logo instead of the "H"

#14 is a 1x4 panel

#17 says T- 00:03 RLS 98%

#19 to #22 are prints, possibly custom prints?

Again, I know I've seen the #25 stickers, but not sure where and they didn't
come up in a search for those logos

-Jordy (Brickitty)

#25 is applied in the wrong location.

As for most of these the sticker is very poorly applied. I would pull off and
list the piece without.

Paypal now shows a big ugly banner, saying they will automatically switch from
"Paypal shipping" to "netParcel shipping" on June 1.

Currently, when we ship small orders to the US, we use the regular Canada Post
"small packet" service, which (for under 100gr) would cost around CAD 8.50.

We hooked up our Canada Post account to netParcel, and tried to ship a small
order to the US. The "small packet" service is no longer available, the cheapest
option would be UPS Standard 4 days for just over CAD 14 (so a CAD 6 raise in
shipping cost).

Am I missing something here? Or will we need to raise our shipping rates?

Niek.

You could use Canada Post's website I suppose...

is appreciated.

Solid color leg assembly parts, still have a place/category, but as I understand…

Unlike the parts of Minifigure, Torso Assembly, Decorated, you can no
longer create new listings for the parts of Minifigure, Legs, Decorated.
Any existing such listing has been placed into the blackhole that is “This catalog
item is marked for deletion”

You can create a custom listing (or two, for the hips and left leg) to then feature
the listing/s within your store, for more exposure.

Cory I missed this do you remember when this was announced, currently arms are
not marked as such, will the same thing occur to them as well?

Just looking for the reasoning behind the removal.

Thanks in advance,

We had an order with a color error.

No problem.

But it was mainly because of the confusing "Medium" term in colors:

Medium Violet: is lighter than Violet
Medium Blue: is lighter than Blue
Medium Green: is lighter than Green
Medium Lime: is lighter than Lime
Medium Orange: is lighter than Orange

BUT, at the opposite...

Medium Nougat: is DARKER than Nougat
Medium Lavender: is DARKER than Lavender

Proposal: Just like Medium Dark Pink, couldn't we rename those to:
Medium Dark Nougat
Medium Dark Lavender?

This way it would be clear that those are darker than the original.

Ah - and BTW, why Medium Azure and not Azure?

If it's not a problem, simply ignore it.

A color chart would have solved this no matter what the color is called...

than it does you. You can respond to that feedback and I would if I were you.
It will show the seller didn't live up to his/her side of the transaction.

  Hi,
I'm thinking about selling more used bricks from my private collection in
my shop.

Currently I have 98% new and 2% used parts so it's quite easy for me to organize
by putting all used parts in a separate drawer, no matter what they look like.
Used parts are roughly sorted by type: brick, tile, technic and so on.

I wonder how other sellers organize their new and used lots.
Do you put them in the same parts bin, separated in different bags (new vs. used)
or do you have two separate systems, one with new and one with used parts?
Or something else?

All thoughts welcome!

Martin

Hi Martin,

I sort by orders by the remarks, I put a location in the remarks for all items,
as this sort is done alphabetical. I labelled my drawers by brick type (ie Bricks
are in B1-1 or B3-4) This makes it so all pieces are together when pulling, however
used fell in the middle (before wedges, etc.) So I placed a Z in front of all
used drawers than all the used pieces end up at the end. I repeat the rest after
the Z (eg ZB1-1 is used bricks). For things I wanted at the beggining of the
picklist (for me minifigures) get an _ before their location.

Hopefully this gives you an idea to help arrange your pieces.

Leopard37 was able to do something really cool with a really cool group this
year!

I was browsing the Creations for Charity website earlier this year and noticed
that the last couple of years there was nothing given out in Canada. I decided
to ask whether or not they wanted a Canadian presence this year and was so excited
to hear back that I could help them distribute to local kids this year.

I run a Bricklink and BrickOwl store and was connected with a LEGO Collector's
Canada Facebook group earlier this year and have been very blessed by the LEGO
community during my layoff last year due to COVID. It was very rewarding to be
able to give back to the community and pass on the best toy ever to some kids
who may not get anything this holiday season.

I was able to obtain 88 sets to donate. After hearing a call out on the local
radio for a need for gifts for 8-12 year olds at Santa's Anonymous they all
got delivered there on Wednesday December 8th. Here's hoping some kids in
Edmonton have an enjoyable time building their sets this holiday break.

Can’t be.  As Teup said, goods (and persons) are free to move in EU, no customs,

That's the bizarre thing. If only some EU countries have such bans, then
stuff from outside the EU will still get shipped in via a third country. Probably
not from small businesses, but for large ones such rules stop nothing if there
is free movement of goods once inside the EU.

A rule to punish the small companies. Seems about in line with most government
rules.

I ordered something from the US and the UK recently and paid VAT at checkout.
Then when the package arrived I was told to pay VAT again. My country's customs
told me that once it passes customs that they cannot do anything about it and
either I pay VAT again or the package gets sent back and that I can use the customs
reciept to get a refund from bricklink and ebay. The UK order was on Ebay and
they responded by issuing a refund after I provided proof of overpayment. Well
after contacting bricklink I got the following resonse:

"
Thank you for your reply and we are sorry to hear that.
Unfortunately, there are two reasons why VAT cannot be refunded by us.
Firstly, this was an error on the seller's side for not including the IOSS
number together with the package as per instructions on the site and the communication
we send out prior to these marketplace changes coming into effect.
Secondly, we unfortunately do not have the tools for it. We do not handle transactions,
it is done by PayPal.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you for your understanding."

Now I don't know what to do. Should I contact the seller and ask her to refund
me the VAT or should I take it to paypal? I feel kind of bad since I think it
was her first international order and I kind of convinced her to ship to me and
I don't want it to come from her pocket while paypal, bricklink or the taxman
make an unjust profit. Has anyone else been in a similar situation and if so
did they manage to resolve it?

Man the way if these new EU regulations are implemented is a nightmare and now
I as a buyer who has done nothing wrong have to waste time with this.

Presumably you have the package. Was the IOSS info clearly displayed? If not,
the seller is at fault. If it is their first international sale, they need to
learn how to do it properly before selling more international orders.

Bricklink's instructions say to not include the IOSS number on the package!!!

Looking for some catalog direction please.

Thanks in advance,

The packaging for the sets from Asia were intricate boxes, so the packaging change
easily makes it worthy of its own entry, as well as the date of release.

What is the set number? If it is the same as the Asian set, it can be submitted
to the catalog as 66649-2. If it has a different number, then it should be submitted
as that.

Cheers,
Randy

Wonderfully there is no set number present on the packaging...

Your original comment to the OP was pretty condescending. Not saying I agree
with Pitz's tone, but it was very similar to your comment.

All I can say is this is a public forum where you presented your strategy. That
leaves it open to criticism. So far a few stores, with much more selling history
and much larger feedback have given their opinion you may be wrong. Perhaps you
should listen and not attack.

How about a different mindset? I leave positive feedback for the buyer immediately
after payment (on all orders). That is their portion of the transaction, completely!
After that if they leave feedback, it's because they want to, not because
it's necessary.

Perhaps you should offer a coupon if users do provide feedback. Positive reinforcement
instead of negative.

Just a thought.

My bet is it's a timing issue. Somehow order fills in the black name before
the user registers...? It's been so long I don't know. It happened to
me recently as well. I could ask the user when they had to enter their name.

Maybe a new user has gone through the registration process recently and could
enlighten us.

i've had deletion of a minifig and unsure why this time around, it met your
guidelines, it's a complete minifigure, with all correct parts

it relates to two figures SH154 and SH146, the two items you have on this website
show the figure with the wings spread open, but you don't have a listing
with the figure using the alternative wings (collapsed) so i list with the one
you have and in the description explained it was the alternative wings

But then it's not complete according to the Bricklink inventory of the minifigure,
hence it gets deleted. If they allowed replacement of pieces, then anyone could
theoretically list an incomplete minifigure and say "head replaced with blue
1x1 plate".

So you either have to list all the pieces separately, include the correct wings,
or mark it as a custom minifigure.

its not replacement pieces, read what i wrote...alternative that came with the
set, hence you had a choice when you built it yet only one version of it exists
on here, im not replacing with a random part from another set

Please look into the messages posted previously on acceptable inventories for
minifigures, you cannot list anything outside of the BL inventory. the pieces
will sell, or buy the correct wings and the fig will sell. In fact you could
probably sell for more if you included both sets of wings.

I have also felt that more categories would be beneficial not just for weapons
but other minifigure categories too such as headgear. For instance if your searching
a store to see what Knight/castle style helmets the store has I'm sure it
would be better to be able to do this without having to scroll through lots of
star wars helmets or ninjago wraps etc...
However the problem with categorising by theme is that there are too many crossover
parts like this hood that can be found in almost all the main themes

Part No: 30381 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Hood
*
30381 Minifigure, Headgear Hood
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear

That said even just separating all the headgear that is unique to a specific
theme would be a good starting point meaning 'Star Wars Headgear' would
include anything from clone trooper helmets to Rebel Pilot helmets to Vader +
Boba Fett helmets along with caps with imperial insigma etc..
Whilst hoods might be used on Jedi and Sith they are quite generic and would
have to remain under the standard generic headgear category.

When it comes to weapons I would again be inclined to try and organise things
by theme/era i.e primative style weapons such as bows and axes separated from
space type weapons etc... but I think this would also present some problems as
there will always be items that are difficult to find a suitable home for likewise
even when going by your own category suggestions where they are sorted by weapon
type what do you then do with something like a flail? personally I think I would
like to see these located in the same palce as things like swords, axes, bows
etc...

My thought that whatever did not fit distinctly into the sub category would remain
in the general main category. Therefore the flail would remain there. Perhaps
the need is there for headgear as well. However I disagree with by theme. I found
again and again that the second you think something is set by LEGO to be used
in one set it will appear in another. Maybe not often with Star Wars but still.
My opinion is to categorize with the real world (helmets, hoods) and than the
theme will work itself out. Thanks for the response.

Alright, this post is more to create discussion, not necessarily must be implemented.

As a seller I find the Minifigure, Utensil and Minifigure, Weapon categories.

I propose sub categories to thin out the main categories. A large portion of
current listings can remain in the main category (like an other or general category
- items that do not meet the definition of the sub category).

Minifigure, Utensil Tool
-anything with tool in the title
-axes

Minifigure, Utensil Kitchenware (could use a better name - best I could come
up with)
-anything you would find in your kitchen, pots, glasses, teapots, etc.

I also believe handlebars, and chairs should move to vehicle.

Minifigure, Weapons, Bladed
-swords, knifes, you know blades...

Minifigure, Weapons, Guns (Projectile is another potential name)
-projectile weapons, bows could also go in here.

Would love to hear what others think of the idea.

I'd prefer to see BAM parts only in the catalogue. I know that stores are
assembling figures, and then also putting these into the packaging for now, but
as soon as this stops and stores go back to customers picking the parts it will
seem bizarre to have these listed as sets.

I agree that the whole concept is to build the figure how you want. However there
are lots of unique complete figures that TLG has meant to be assembled together.
I think the suggestions from TLG should be able to be found and sold as a complete
fig. There are a few I want to get my own hands on.

In normal times, we assume that LEGO intend them to be put together in a certain
way. That goes against the BL way of definitely go together rather than presumed
to go together. Plus what happens if for example a torso / head / headgear combo
comes out that could be used with any legs and none are obvious? Do all permutations
get added or none? Especially with human figures, the heads could be controversial.

The cases I'm talking about have the full minifigure assembled exactly like
a normal instruction book. eg. Pink valentine's elephant

Regarding listing these with color, one of the things we would lose by doing
it this way is the rather dependable position that sticker sheets occupy at the
top of the inventory.

If they were as suggested, not a part any longer, that would not be an issue.
A dedicated section like instructions or sets... sticker sheets?

Or is this messing with the database and too much to accomplish?

see a more meaningful feedback system perhaps where sellers could actually get
better recognition when they go above and beyond the norm! i.e If it was worded
something like this:-

Please rate this transaction:-

Bad - (Problems with the transaction)
Good - (Smooth transaction)
Outstanding - (Seller went beyond expectations!)

Imagine you have two sellers with 500 feedback where one has 492 Good and 8 Outstanding
the other has 425 Good and 75 Outstanding this would give a whole new meaning
to the feedback system and how we see sellers overall rather than the somewhat
redundant Neutral which seems to be seen as a minor negative!

How many new users rate the postal system not the order. This is also a flaw.
Especially if the seller doesn't accurately say when the package was shipped.

If are you having trouble getting the orders that are over ~350 grams in an actual
envelope set your shipping to go to package after that weight is the issue. The
site doesn't control this you do. Figure out weight wise what you can fit
and then adjust your settings.

Yes, it is due to the fact that LEGO considers these "multipacks" (family molds)
one part for inventory purposes.

Cheers,

Any possibility we could get a "break multipacks into parts" option on the part
out screen? Sort of like the "Break Sets in Sets" option that currently exists
and is very useful for things like Advent calendars.

I've often thought that there should be an overall part inventory for an
advent calendar so you can the parts and minifigs into stock, but that is a pure
seller standpoint.

I really think that this issue will not be solved until two types of inventory
are allowed. "What came in the box" and a "what it actually takes to build the
model". As long as the bag has an assembly that can be further parted out it
doesn't bother me as a seller.

I don't inventory things very often here, but I know that going forward (especially
with the trolls sets) that some items are used within a figure. In that case
does the remainder of the items fall under the extras category instead of the
pack appearing in the inventory?

Thanks in advance for the clarification.

Morning, Catalog guys I have a query for you. In regards to items attached on
the back there is no guideline in the help page (see full description below).
Could this please be defined and added. Even if there are minifigures that require
editing (I will help if needed). I just wish to prevent less work in the future
by having a clear guideline on what's included and what's not. The one
that peaked my interest is the Mr. Freeze in set 76118 (sh587).

Thanks in advance.

Tyson.

"Minifigs - The catalog should only contain minifigs that came in an official
LEGO set or that can be attributed to an official LEGO program, display, activity
or event, regardless of whether the minifig is actually publicly distributed
during or at such program, display, activity or event.
The minifig item should not include hand-held accessories or items defined as
utensils, with the exception of robot winder keys. But do include all other accessories
definable as footgear (flippers, snow shoes, etc.), neckgear (generally defined
as items requiring the removal of the head in order to be placed over the neck,
such as capes, armor, backpacks, etc.) and headgear (hair, helmets, etc.), and
assembled parts serving as such, when these are shown attached to the minifig
in official LEGO set instructions. For instructions with images showing the minifig
in a play scenario, refer only to the portion of the instructions concerned with
assembling the minifig. If no official instructions were produced, then illustrations
on packaging or other marketing materials directly related to the minifig may
be used instead for this guide purpose. (See Exceptions below.)

Minifigs decorated by a sticker may have an entry for the figure without the
sticker applied, and an entry for the figure with the sticker applied. (See Exceptions
below.)

If 2 or more minifigs that came in an official LEGO set are the same except for
different hand-held accessories, do not add another entry for a minifig with
a particular accessory. An example of this would be "Majisto the Wizard with
glow-in-the-dark wand" which should not be added in addition to an otherwise
identical "Majisto the Wizard" entry.

Exceptions:

When the use of set instructions or other official LEGO images provide poor clues
about the precise nature of accessories: For example, numbers printed on neckgear
armor worn by each figure of a series, yet nowhere is it clearly shown which
figure bears which numbered armor. In this case the figures can be added without
neckgear armor. Arbitrarily associating a particular numbered armor with the
other elements of a minifig should not be done.
When the hand held accessory is an integral physical part of the minifig: For
example, the electric light-up figs released beginning in 2005. All the parts
that make up the complete light-up device, including those not integral to its
electric function, should be included as a part of the minifig.
When there is more than one possibility presented within a set for decoration
of the minifig by sticker, a catalog entry should not be created for each variation.
This rule also applies to the Torso and Torso Assembly parts of such minifigs.
For example, some Soccer theme sets have a sticker sheet that allows the builder
to choose from various team insignias and jersey numbers for each player in the
set. If every variation were given an entry, the catalog would be overwhelmed.
The early “stiff” minifigs (1975-1977) were often built into the model and not
shown in a freestanding position. In these cases, a minifig can be considered
a unit without being prescribed as such in the instructions or box images as
long as the four basic parts are present – legs, torso, head and hat/hair."

In fact, Marek, Paul and I will be starting on some of the projects on the Catalog
Roadmap in the not-to-distant future. Marek is actually almost done with getting
all of the collectible minifigure series there own full set entries. That will
be one project done. I have an idea of what one of my next choices is, but the
other admins and I will need to discuss what to move on next. Keep an eye out
because we have not forgotten Robert's legacy.

Cheers,
Randy

Could the roapmap be updated to reflect the projects currently in progress please?

Thanks in advance,

Title says most of it. Would like a checkbox, like the weight missing in catalog
to be able to view all inventory with any of the dimensions missing from the
catalog. Most parts aren't an issue but some large ones slip through and
it really hurts customer service telling them you can't ship what they order
for what they paid.

How would you recommend selling a complete set of CMFs?

Personally, I would do what these other sellers have done and list the whole
set under the random entry. As long as you describe things clearly in your notes,
buyers will understand that they are paying for a whole set. This is one of those
areas where the average prices must be deduced from scanning listings or sold
listings instead of the calculated averages.

It is a shame that the site cannot do something and step in and help sellers
and buyers here, by realising what they need. Some people want to sell and buy
complete series. I thought the primary goal of bricklink was to enable sales
of LEGO, so adding a "complete series" for each CMF or similar series would work
well for those people. Does it really matter that they were never sold that way
by LEGO? If need be, this information could always be added as a note to a complete
series entry.

+1

It's about time!

Here you go. Let's try it out.

Set No: 41775 Name: Character, Unikitty!, Series 1 (Complete Random Set of 1 Character)

Set No: 41775 Name: Character, Unikitty!, Series 1 (Complete Series of 12 Complete Character Sets)
*
41775-2 (Inv) Character, Unikitty!, Series 1 (Complete Series of 12 Complete Character Sets)
12 Sets, 2018
Sets: Unikitty!: Unikitty! Series 1

Let me know if you think the random one needs a big question mark placed over
it. If people like this entry and use it, we'll go ahead and add the others.

Hooray!!!!

Please add the Series 17 and DFB!

I have both for sale currently!

Another thing to consider is the set number crossing over of part numbers in

I realized that standardizing this would be as simple as a single sentence added
to the appropriate section of this page (which hasn't been updated since
2010):

But before we change anything, let us discuss. Do you want minifigure titles
to include set numbers? Do you find set numbers in minifigure titles useful
or can you live without them? Once we decide and get written policy in place,
then we only need to examine the titles of all the minifigures and adjust as
necessary. If we go with including set numbers, then the format would be this
(with the words Multiple Sets instead of individual set numbers for figures that
appear in more than one set):

Minifigure Name (Set 1000-1)
Minifigure Name (Multiple Sets)

If we go with not including set numbers, then we just need to remove existing
set numbers from titles. I don't have a preference either way on this one.
Thoughts?

I like it when it's exclusive to that set. They then show up when you search
for them, and it let's you know that the figure is only in one set. However
setting this as standard means if the figure gets included in another set than
the title requires revising. Just another thing for the inventories/catalog admins
to remember. Once the figure is in two sets I can actually click on the figure
to see what sets it's in, I don't think more is needed in the title.
ie. (Multiple Sets) would than be redundant.

Tyson.
