Although most sellers are honest I've had a case where a seller set the status
to shipped, when my order arrived 3 weeks later I saw that the shipping date
was actually more than a week after the date they set the status to shipped.

So even if a rule like this was implemented there is no way to tell if the seller
is just setting the status to shipped just to avoid getting in trouble.

The rule should be that orders should be shipped within 7 days from when the
buyer marks the order as paid (assuming the buyer is being honest) because I
have also seen cases where I paid but the seller has not updated the status to
paid until 3 or 4 days later.

I had suggested a while ago that there should be some sort of counter on a store
to indicate how many orders they had outstanding where the buyer has set the
status to paid, but the seller has not set the status to shipped. So this would
at least tell the buyer how many orders were ahead of theirs before placing an
order. Kind of like picking a cashier at the supermarket, you might not necessarily
want to buy from someone who has a long lineup ahead of you.

I just figure the sellers won't remember to do it... and bricklink already
has the information, and it will fit on the screen, it's 1 or 2 small icons
next to the name...

Should take what an hour to add, a day to QA, then push out...

I think some sellers forget that bricklink is an international marketplace.

I think it would be helpful if next to the posters name in the list of forum
posts if a country flag was displayed next to the poster's name.

A lot of times I am browsing the message topics and see a forum post for a sale
or free shipping.

Most of the time it's a store that does not ship to my country, or a free
shipping offer that is only domestic. It would be helpful if a flag indicating
the country of the poster showed up. It would save time when viewing forum posts
like these to know that these deals are not available to me.

It would be even more helpful if the poster was a seller, and it showed the symbol
that Seller ships to me... but that might be asking too much...

This should only really apply to the Sales Topic.... but it might be helpful
if it appeared in other topics as well, but I can't think of any other one
where this would apply...

I forgot to add that the disadvantage to using the wanted list only is that prices
are not locked in unless the items are in your cart.

So you could use the wanted list workaround to recreate your cart on a new pc...
But if the prices change before you add to cart on another computer the cart
total will be different.

It's currently per computer because the information is saved in a cookie.

The only workaround I've found is that instead of adding to cart I have another
tab with my wanted list open and add the items to my wanted list. Then when
I move to a different computer or tablet I go back to the store and list my wanted
list items. (You could create a new wanted list with the store name if you are
shopping multipe stores at once)

Keep in mind that adding to cart does not reserve the item, anyone else can buy
it before you click checkout.

I find that some stores process orders a lot faster than other stores. Most
of the time this is proportionate to the number of outstanding orders that the
store has yet to fill (IE how backlogged they are)

In some cases I've waited 3 weeks from the day I paid for an order until
it was actually shipped.

From a buyers perspective if I knew how many orders there were ahead of mine
it would help me make a decision as to whether or not I was going to order from
this store or not... (in many cases you have no choice because you are selecting
the store because they have most of the items on your wanted list)

But at least if I knew that the store had 100 orders ahead of mine I could make
an informed decision whether I wanted to buy from them or if I would be better
off splitting my order across a few stores that have much fewer orders ahead
of mine.

In the brick and mortar world it's like being in a food court... I could
really want Chipotle, but I can see they've got a huge line... but hey there's
no line at Subway... that's good enough... I'll go there...

So what would count against the seller would be things like
- Order Placed but not yet invoiced
- Orders Paid for by the buyer but not yet shipped

Things that would not count against the seller
- Orders invoiced but not yet paid for by the buyer

You could even display an average for number of days from the day the Buyer marks
the invoice as PAID to the day the SELLER sets the status to SHIPPED. This would
be simpler and tell you how fast a SELLER processes orders on average.

(Hopefully most people are honest... once again I've had a seller outright
lie and tell me that they shipped something out, but when I actually received
the item I can see what date it was post marked, and it's more than 2 weeks
later.. I understand people get busy and they have lives... but at least be
honest about it)

Suggestion is to be able to add parts to my wanted list using the combination
code (includes part # and color) instead of just the part number.

It would be a lot easier for data entry if we could use another field to add
items using the combination code.

So instead of having to enter 4265c and then pick a color of light bluish gray,
it would be a lot easier if I could just enter 4211573.

Also in the Lego instructions parts are listed using this combination code.
So this would be really helpful when creating wanted lists based on Lego instructions
and would save a step when building wanted lists.

Also an additional suggestion would be to add a new tag to the XML for combination
number. So in additon to using itemid, and color I could enter the combo number
and when uploaded the site would translate that into the item id and color.

The information is already in the bricklink database this just makes it available
for selection.
