  Hmmm...I see.

Well, the question was, if a seller (from a certain central european country
I have prior bad experience - online shop scam) suddenly lowers the price of
a normally fixed cost, and then demands that I pay in advance even though when
I placed the order I could choose (and did choose) pay on delivery, am I being
oversuspicious in having a bad feeling about this sudden change, or is this common
on Bricklinks...and why does Bricklink enable the option pay on delivery if the
buyer can demand payment in advance anyway? Prior to this I've never ordered
stuff from anywhere else but Swedish sites and German Amazon (and only because
what I was looking for wasn't available through any reliable Swedish sites
or German Amazon).

Thanks for the quick answer btw.

Very few (if any) BrickLink orders are paid in advance.

I think you meant “on delivery”

Paying up front is normal for this site.

And many others.

If you place an order on Bricklink, you must pay for the order. If you don't,
the seller has a right to submit a complaint against you and cancel the order.

In the US I have the typical rubbish contract within the county I live. All
the lego I have that is unusable here on Bricklink (reuse is the best type of
recycling), it goes in the landfill. Local rubbish companies only want recyclables
they can easily sort and make profit from.

That’s the problem: sorting is difficult to reconcile with making a profit.

I would gladly send all these bricks at my cost to any company that could profit
form recycling them.

Not sure why the Lego Company does not have a program that would work like this.
They could offer a coupon for $5.00 off every pound you send in. That would
offset the shipping you paid to ship it out.

See above +
transport isn’t eco-friendly +
they would receive lots of crap they don’t know the composition of and would
need even finer sorting.

Just to give the other side a voice. I’d be happy to help too but I don’t see
it coming soon enough

Yeah, same here: all food wrappings and small packages, films, cardboard, even

(And go to the special recycling bins for glass or paper, and to the recycling
centers for anything else or big quantities.)

Maybe, but the triple threat may be enough to get him to get out of this transaction
rather than risk a hit to his feedback.

But there are little risks for the seller:
— NSS: gone if shipped or refunded.
— PayPal dispute: they only risk a forced refund and can still start an NPB and
avoid a negative.
— Negative: only possible if there’s no NPB and they can still retaliate.

I wouldn't fight that hard for an order that the customer doesn't want.

Well, I’m sure you wouldn’t have put yourself in that position to start with.
This seller has already fought harder than you’d have

Always kind of funny to answer “what would you do if” when the probabilities
of being in the “if” situation are null.
Well, we can still all dream of winning the lotery, can’t we?

He has totally mismanaged his store. Here at BrickLink you can start a NSS, non
shipping seller, and give a negative feedback. All of these actions can be changed
by you if he complies with your request to cancel the order. I would only start
these actions to get him to cancel and refund. After that go back and cancel
everything, PP complaint, NSS and change the feedback (it may get removed automatically).

But won’t the seller be able to delay the NSS until they can ship and invalidate
it?

Again I'm sorry this has happened.

The dedicated forum for Studio is here: http://forum.bricklin.com/ (yes, the
name is confusing).

the problem is that I have a baseplate upon which tiles have been put to make
up a floor. Now I want to put a car on this, but studio always has the car falling
through the tiles and baseplate. no matter how I position it, it always falls
through it.
any suggestions on how I can prevent this from happening?

Place the car manually: select the car, click on the wrench/minifig hand icon
(or symply hit 'T', and move it along the axes.

Thank you for reading.

  Very unplesant situation.

You did more than could be expected.

You should consider using IBAN in stead of bank transfers.

This again

Please explain the difference between what you call “IBAN” and what you call
“bank transfer.”

maybe Schwitzerland does not have IBAN ?

Switzerland is part of SEPA (Single Euro Payment Area).
That means they are integrated in the SEPA banking system and can transfer money
within the SEPA (via “IBAN” or “bank transfer” or “SEPA transfer,” spoiler for
the previous question: they are the same thing).
That doesn’t mean their banks can’t charge for transfering money.
That doesn’t mean their banks can’t charge for converting money (CHF to EUR).

The same applies to Italian banks.
The same applies to any bank in the SEPA.

I have never been charged a fee for receiving an IBAN payment.
No matter what currency it was paid in.

Lucky you.

But that’s anecdotal evidence (of a negative proposition: the absence of fees)
and we already have anecdotal evidence of the contrary (a positive: people got
burnt).

So, what are we to believe? Anecdotes (going one way or the other) or explanations
or how things actually work according to international standards and laws?

both of you can rotate the part to check.

I don't know about anyone else, but the drawn picture of this part doesn't
look anything like the photographic versions. The perspective looks like it was
drawn by Picasso. I tried spinning the 3D picture every way possible, but in
no way could I make it look like that drawing.

Looks correct to me.

3D vision is difficult for some.

Even though your terms do state that IBAN / bank transfer fees are the customers
responsibility, I think it would also be a really good idea to let your customers
know that the fee could be as high as an additional 30% of the order total (which
is the what the percentage of 15 is from 50). I know I would be surprised by
a 30% increase if I were not expecting such a high fee.

It could be way higher than that or way lower: there are fixed fees.

For instance, most French banks have a 3 to 5€ fee when you use the phone or
a paper form instead of using their website.

Banks are always creative when it’s about fees.
Almost as much a taxmen with taxes

A thought - if you can refund some of the total payment back to the customer
without any having to pay any additional fees then maybe a good solution would
be to invoice all your customers who want to use a bank transfer an 15% to cover
the transfer fee with the understanding that any extra would be refunded back
to them. This way there would be no surprise fee for them to become upset over
and, if you end up being able to give them a partial fee refund then they will
appreciate your honesty when they receive it and probably end up placing future
orders with you.

The refund would be done via bank transfer too, with another fee.
It’s not like a partial refund on PayPal.
