This is a hollow stud for the head, in case it is still relevant for the catalog.

As most of us, we have changed our password during the log-in process. We also
appreciate the email sent when a "new" device logs in.

However, I believe BL would need to take a look at how the site remembers a previously-authenticated
browser. After changing the password o on our account from my laptop, I refreshed
the BL page on my tablet, and it authenticated without asking for our new password.
I have to assume this is because of some cookies stored on my tablet.

Changing an account's password does not invalidate sessions which were authenticated
with the old password. It would be good to put in some logic that would kick
off these "old" sessions.

Seeing repeated messages in the forum about not receiving emails from BrickLink,
I did some checking.

The DNS for bricklink.com shows an SPF record like this (broken up for readability):

v=spf1
- include:spf.protection.outlook.com
- ip4:54.209.67.9
- ip4:18.210.58.96
- ip4:3.213.113.25
- -all

This tells the world that emails sent from the bricklink.com email domain should
only be sent out from "anything spf.protection.outlook.com" (these
are Microsoft servers), or IP addresses 54.209.67.9, 18.210.58.96 and 3.213.113.25.
Furthermore, there is a DMARC entry set that explicitly tells the world to reject
any email that doesn't pass the SPF record (and possibly any DKIM - I haven't
checked those - yes, I am lazy).

I checked my mail server, and at least the last 4 days, any email sent from BL
to us was sent from IP address 54.208.31.131 . This address is not
on the SPF record, so the current setup basically says to the world "please
reject BL emails from blsmtp.bricklink.com".

Fortunately (for quite a few BL users) many email servers don't yet follow
these directions, and accept BL email coming from a non-conformant address.

BL should at least include 54.208.31.131 in their SPF record, and possibly check
DKIM.

I requested a name change for

Part No: 17114 Name: Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with 2 Ball Joints and Axle Hole
*
17114 Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with 2 Ball Joints and Axle Hole
Parts: Technic, Brick
from "Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with 2 Ball Joints and Axle Hole"
to "Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with Ball Joint and Axle Hole with 6
Holes in Each Ball
". This was rejected without any explanation.

Seeing as these holes are a fairly visible feature of this part as compared to

Part No: 57908 Name: Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with 2 Ball Joints
*
57908 Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with 2 Ball Joints
Parts: Technic, Brick
and also described with these two:

Part No: 57909 Name: Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with Ball Joint and Axle Hole
*
57909 Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with Ball Joint and Axle Hole
Parts: Technic, Brick

Part No: 57909b Name: Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with Ball Joint and Axle Hole with 6 Holes in Ball
*
57909b Technic, Brick Modified 2 x 2 with Ball Joint and Axle Hole with 6 Holes in Ball
Parts: Technic, Brick
Why can these holes not be in the name of this part?

Just curious.

Interested to hear what others are doing besides working with the plastic brick
and reading the forum (yes, I see you do).

I prepped tonight's dinner (nasi goreng with chicken satays), made a batch
of chicken curry salad (which sounds way healthier than it is - "chicken
curry spread" would probably be a better term), now doing some home cleaning.
I was hoping to take a brisk walk outside, but it looks like there is still too
much ice on the sidewalks, and I can't risk toppling over again after two
back surgeries (if that wouldn't have killed me, my wife would have finished
the job).

Just received the BMNL October 2022.

There appears to be an error in Tip #1 ("how do I protect myself from fraud as
a seller"). It says:

Enable seller protection in your store settings. To do that go to My Store
Settings Management Seller protection. Once you’ve ticked that box, new buyers
(less than 100 days on the site or a feedback score of 5) won’t be able to place
an order with you.

I sure hope it is still just that new buyers are limited to instant check-out,
and NOT barred completely.

Paypal now shows a big ugly banner, saying they will automatically switch from
"Paypal shipping" to "netParcel shipping" on June 1.

Currently, when we ship small orders to the US, we use the regular Canada Post
"small packet" service, which (for under 100gr) would cost around CAD 8.50.

We hooked up our Canada Post account to netParcel, and tried to ship a small
order to the US. The "small packet" service is no longer available, the cheapest
option would be UPS Standard 4 days for just over CAD 14 (so a CAD 6 raise in
shipping cost).

Am I missing something here? Or will we need to raise our shipping rates?

Last week we lost Brian, an Alberta Lego collector and store owner of "Life of
Brick", a helpful and kind person.

His wife Michelle has been learning the Lego world the last few months as his
health was not improving. Please join together as a Lego Community and put in
some orders to show our support for Michelle at

Thanks all.

We have an order from a new US-based BL user (from Virginia), and we are short
one

Part No: 29120  Name: Wedge 2 x 1 x 2/3 Left
*
29120 Wedge 2 x 1 x 2/3 Left
Parts: Wedge {Dark Red}
Anyone willing to accept an order from me for that part (plus whatever handling
cost etc), and then drop-ship to our customer?

Thanks!

The "My BL" image at the top of the page doesn't load. It appears some Java
work was done to load a copy of the user's avatar there, but it now fails.

To reproduce the Java errors (in my case in Chrome), right-click the "My BL"
image and select "open image in new tab".

Our shop abandoned using the order details page about 5 years ago in favor of
a homegrown version. It would be nice if BL offered an alternative way of showing
the order items similar to this (I intentionally say "alternative way" as I am
sure there are many people who don't want to have this page changed).

Our order detail page shows each lot as a little picture of the item, with "amount
ordered" - "new/used" - "item ID" - "color" below it, and "inventory left" (see
first pic) (we also have a red border around "new" items to have them stand out
as we mainly sell used items). The page shows 10 lots in a row, and when printed,
shows 10 rows on the first page (so 100 lots on the first page), and 120 lots
on subsequent pages.

Also, with just one additional field in the "order items table" (called "status"
or something similar) you can add some serious useful functionality to the order
details page. When you pick an order with the BL order details page, you can
use the check boxes in front of the items to keep track of what you picked. Until
you (for whatever reason) refresh the page. Boom. All checks are gone. With that
additional database field, BL can keep track of the "status" of an order item.
We use 4 different statuses - "none", "picked", "packed" and "error". In the
first pic you can see the first two items shown green ("picked"), and the other
4 items white (status "none").

Using this database field makes the "colors" ("statuses") of the lots persistent
- you can break for coffee and continue where you left off, you can load the
order on a different device etc.

At the top right we have a quick view of the state of the entire order (see second
pic) - this order has a total of 44 lots, all lots except 4 have been picked,
and no errors found. If you were to add a second field to the order items table
(something like "note"), you can add notes to a lot. See third pic - here we
have a lot where there is an issue (status is "red") with an indicator at the
top-left of the item pic which corresponds to a note at the bottom of the order
details page.

We use a print of this page as our picking list in our orders - no serious deforesting
needed, and annotated lots when there is the occasional issue.

Just some thoughts in case BL wants to revamp the order details page. I am available
if BL needs some technical assistance.

(We don't use the "remarks" field for order picking as we have our inventory
stored by category, but it is easy to change what is shown below each lot picture.
Also, our version packs some more functionality, like if you click on the picture,
you get a popup with the an overview of that item in all colors with amount sold,
amount in inventory, links to inventory history, appearance in sets etc - there
is so much functionality that can be added to the order details page.)

If anyone has any questions or need more pics, feel free to shoot me a message
(and no, this "product" is not easily portable, so we can't supply it to
other shops right now).

Niek.

FYI -

Just came across a bunch of these parts in color coral:

Part No: 27507 Name: Tile, Round Corner 4 x 4 Macaroni Wide
*
27507 Tile, Round Corner 4 x 4 Macaroni Wide
Parts: Tile, Round
It looks like there are two distinct shades. One exactly matches coral color
for this part we have:

Part No: 41740 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 4 with 2 Studs with Groove
*
41740 Plate, Modified 1 x 4 with 2 Studs with Groove
Parts: Plate, Modified
The other one is lighter - less saturated. TLG calls the new color "vibrant coral".
The lighter shade could almost be called "regular coral". Or of course another
instance of bad quality control.

I can see if I can make a pic later.

For those of us that run a shop with the inventory storage based on the BL catalog,
it can be a puzzle when items get moved to a different category.

Internally we have a web page that shows items that have moved. Would that be
helpful for others as well? See this link:

http://www.qwertyboy.org/files/BL/BL-catalog-changes.php

Currently I have it limited to only pick "parts" or "minifigs" - in the last
month there have been an _insane_ amount of category changes for gear/sets/instructions
etc.
