We're moving!

As a result, we've just reduced all items in our store to some of the lowest
on BrickLink!

This is based on this thread: http://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=128729
that discussed this idea in general. There were no opinions posted opposing
allowing non-retail, non-competitive sites to link to and refer visitors to BrickLink
stores.

I have no conflict of interest in Brickset. As an independent seller, I'm simply
proposing another way to draw traffic to BrickLink.

This suggestion would enable Brickset to 1) display the BL inventory detail and
part pictures for any set, 2) link from the parts to the BL catalog page for
that part, and 3) provide links to stores with those parts for sale on
BrickLink. Brickset would sell link placements similar to the existing Peeron
business model. Orders on BrickLink would show the "Referred by www.brickset.com"
message on the bottom of the order detail.

Per the discussion in the other thread, this suggestion applies only to this
one site. Other sites would need separate forum suggestion threads.

If you have a comment relating to a Brickset relationship, post it here.
If you have a general comment about the concept, please post it to the
original thread.

Thanks. -Jason

The time should be taken to look at how BO has used affiliates to drive traffic,
and increase orders... If this has not already been discussed.

what about buyers that don't have a store. Shouldn't they get something
back, should they get a universal coupon they can use to get a discount while
the seller get the same discount in fees.

Then you could argue sellers may want it as a store coupon too, and that would
cost BL more than just fee reduction. I agree it needs to happen for just buyers
on BL just pointing out a possible flaw

No it wouldn't, issueing coupons could be as automatic as reducing fees.
it the same amount indepedent on what method you use. 5$ fee reduction is a 5$
fee reducion independent on if it used in your own store as a seller or in another
sellers store to BL it would be the same amount. The only cost involved is building
the system, and if they consider it from the beginning it's not harder to
build a system that reward either buyer or seller then only rewarding the seller.

I think you missed what I am trying to say.

The cost of reducing fee's in the points programme for sellers would be much
cheaper than giving people credit to spend on BL, this is where BL would have
to use their own money to do so.

That's at least what I believe from the system in place.

I voted yes.

I think a points system would work well, different weightings for different things
you do to the catalogue, points = money off your fee's.

Sets: Town: City: Construction

Parted out 8 sets, deleted the original antenna and to be replaced with this, the flat top antenna.

Cora, the set was inventoried from sealed set contents, it means the original
submittor found the old mold in the set. If you found the newer type, then you
should submit a request to add it as alternate, but please do not remove the
original mold just because you only found the newer type in the set. Sets run
over several years and have different production runs, the whole point of alternates
is to identify both original and alternate found in a set, not just the frist
mold and also not just the last mold.
Thx

Hi Eric,

Sorry I tried, quite tricky this adding / changing the catalogue thing... I will
have a look at it more this evening thank you for your advice.

Cora

Hi Cora
If you will re-submit your request, please delete all other requests.
you can do it all at once:
change the 1st antenna with the MID n° 1 (for change you need to use the inv
ID = 479776) and add the other antenna as alternate with MID n° 1.

Stefaan

Hi Stefaan,

Will do

That was ridiculous.

Hi Everyone,

I know that a lot of what's being suggested is already implemented however
most of the people posting the topic didn't know so I'm sorry if this
is something which is ready available in BL or a third party program to which
I am unaware.

My suggestion comes around the storage and remarks system, after all most of
us stock more parts, and a larger breakdown of parks than your average online
store.

Point A.

Firstly, when I part out a new set and I choose to consolidate old remarks I
don't find out if the item has any previous remarks until I have entered
the remarks myself.

I would personally like to see you choose to part out a set and a list come up
of all the parts that are in that set which you already have in store and the
remarks section to be pre-filled with where you have the same item in the same
condition, allowing you to quickly put away all the parts you already have in
stock.

Then the next page would show you the parts which you don't already have
in your inventory and you would add those parts just like you do now, filling
in the fields you require.

I know this may not be an option to everyones taste but I think it would make
my life easier, so perhaps just the option to have a set up like this or similar
would be nice.

Point B.

To take this further I thought about a system where you documented your storage
system for example I use small boxes which are numbered. I use an excel document
to mark what is in each box by colour, category, part type and condition.

So what if I loaded those details into a database and the database told me what
I had in each box based on the remarks field and what I have said should be in
there for example...

All new 2x2 tiles should be stored in box 20.

I add that to the database.

I can then use the database to see what is in box 20 and based upon my inventory
it says I have the following;

x1 Black New 2x2 tile

x4 Yellow New 2x2 tile.

This would allow me to do a stock check much faster, and would allow me to find
errors not just on the stock levels but on remarks. In addition to this I think
if this was successfully implemented it would remove the need for remarks when
stock counting and order picking all together.

But what about when your listing items...

Well...

Based upon what I have entered into the database... that all new 2 x 2 tiles
should be stored in box 20 the system could provide me with a storage recommendation
even if I for example don't have that colour in the box already it would
see that the tile is in new condition, it is a category tile, and the size is
2 x 2 therefore based on what I have entered it should be stored in box 20.

I hope this makes sense, and I hope you all say it's something which I haven't
found yet but is ready available because I want it NOW!! haha.

Thanks
