I sold them was fake due to no lego logo and that they've
often seen Ninjago theme as one of the most common themes where knock offs are
produced.

It's possible that it was fake, but there is usually more to it than just
a non logo. The difference in quality is usually glaring and would certainly
be noticeable on a trans-clear part that's also printed.

Since then, I've come across

Part No: 61287c01pb03 Name: Cylinder Hemisphere 2 x 2 with Reddish Brown Globe Pattern

that I know are authentic that do not have a lego logo. I've
also reached out to a few huge sellers that specialize in minifigs and they've
told me as well that some of these hemisphere parts do not have the logo.

If any sellers are able to check any of their hemisphere parts that they know
are authentic, I'd appreciate the additional data.

I got some trans-clear ones that I know 100% are genuine.

You are right, and I am surprised to learn - no LEGO logo and no part ID. There
is mould number tho.

Weird, because LEGO puts this stuff on much thinner parts, such as windows.

  Hello,

The Bricklink administration removed one of my selling listings. The reason was
that the parts were listed in a non existent color.
The part was actually a genuine lego part, listed in the correct color. Only
was it never released in an official set, so it does not show up in the color
guide in any set. Is it no longer allowed to list such parts? As far as i know
this type of parts could be obtained in a legal way from a pick a brick wall.

Where they in a transparent color? If so it might be related to this post:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1322014

If you have proof of purchase before listing again I would recommend contacting
the Help Desk.

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1465103

I wonder what would that proof could look like....
An invoice from PAB with a line 'prototype part'?

Can someone give an actual example of proof of purchase that would be accepted
by BL?

A rhetorical question more than anything but I'd love if someone entertained
me with an answer still. This is the same as discovering that something that
you bought at a grocery store has mold in it, but the store refusing a refund
because you did not save the receipt.

If such an imaginary proof existed even theoretically - fine. But otherwise -
owners of legitimate parts are getting slapped in the face once for having their
listing removed, and then getting laughed in their faces by 'show me a receipt
from 30 years ago, then we will allow you to list the item".

Got someone asking to purchase a single part lot with a pre-shipping order value
of 120 USD. I'd like to try and oblige this member, if I can...

My question concerns the up-to-date rules as applied here to distance
selling with the UK. Not certain about UK cross-border buying protocols, anymore.

~ As seller, will I need to electronically insert proof of taxes-paid into the
customs form (IOSS) in order to avoid the buyer being double taxed?

~ If taxation is applicable to such an order, will taxes be processed within
the order itself, or garnered from the buyer on the receiving end?

Thanks in advance

Help pages notwithstanding, if any UK member would care to offer empirical
input it would be appreciated. Thanks

It's really straightforward

BrickLink will automatically collect the UK VAT (under GBP135).
You will receive an e-mail with the VAT receipt, and can download the PDF from
the order page if not recevied.
Print it and attach it in a transparent document pocket outside.
Fill a normal CN22 or CN23 form.

This. Specifically for UK - this is enough. Your PayPal payment will have a 'Partner
Fee' section for this, which will be forwarded to BL's PP account immediately.
You will have to attach a VAT invoice to the outside of the package - you will
see it on the order page + will receive an email from BL with a .pdf

No need to attach anything electronically to your shipping label.

infinibrix gave you some good advice already, but something that no one has mentioned
so far is - the way you are acquiring your items for (re)sale might be quite
important for you.

If you become a VAT payer - gone are the days when you can buy a random used
(or even new) set on your local marketplace and re-sell it. Well, technically
you can still do it, but you will need to part with the VAT portion of the sale
price.

If you are already acquiring most of your inventory from VAT-registered sellers
then this is a non-factor. And you still can buy from private individuals,
but if you will want to put that kind of purchases on your expense sheet then
you might need a different form of 'proof of money going out'. What exact
kind of document you will need depends on UK TAX Law, but it will most likely
include a requirement for a signature from the seller. Some private sellers will
not want to deal with that.

Some countries allow re-sale of USED goods to happen without charging VAT, even
for VAT-registered businesses. No idea if this tax exemption exists in UK - if
it does then not everything that I wrote might apply. There might also be different
ways on how you are allowed to account for expenses - it is possible that UK
TAX Law allows a fixed percentage of the sale to be accounted as an expense,
instead of collecting your purchase receipts.

However if there are any such provisions/exception in the TAX law and you are
thinking of using them - before deciding to do that make sure you consult with
an expert too see IF you can switch to something different few years down the
line, what is the process and what the implications are. Sometimes that kind
of options are 'you can not change this as long as your business exists'
type of a deal, or the process of switching might have serious downsides that
may cancel out the positives.

Personal note - I wish I were able to register as a VAT payer few years earlier
than I did. It was holding me back quite a bit and I felt an immediate freedom
right after registering. No longer had I constantly worry about keeping track
of the 12-month running threshold thing, periodically closing the shop up, evaluating
every larger deal if it will give me a good enough profit margin OR if the profit
is too small in comparison to how much of the sales allowance it will eat up
etc etc. Yes, accounting became much more complex BUT at the same time I also
became legally required to have an actual professional to do my accounting. Which
meant that I no longer had/could do it on my own. It was a huge weight of my
shoulders, I can tell you that much

Last but not least - even though this does not apply to you as currently you
are only selling domestically, but if you are thinking of selling internationally
at some point then being a VAT payer is a big advantage. For one - all international
sales are VAT-free, meaning that if your VAT-inclusive price for your domestic
buyers is 1 pound, the same listing for your international buyers is 0.80 pound.
While if you are non-VAT payer then it is the same for everyone. Additionally
- you will no longer have to pay VAT when importing (or you might still have
to pay but it will be credited towards your VAT payment to the TAX agency at
the end of the month so it cancels out). Compared to not being a registered VAT
business - it opens up additional opportunities to import things for re-sale.

Hope most of what I wrote makes sense

Wrong example
It was the intermediary mould (2007-2022) that had the ugly sprue mark.
The original 4079 (1980-2010) didn’t have the ugly sprue mark.
The new 4079 (2022-) doesn’t have the ugly sprue mark.
Except for colours and tiny markings, there’s almost no way to differentiate
‘original’ and ‘new’.

Ah, I think I might have not had the 2022+ variant in my hands just yet! Either
way - some buyers want the original original parts. Even when there are
no actual differences whatsoever, besides the part having some sort of an oldschool
thing. Fabuland/erased fabuland logo, anyone?

I was not asking for myself, but as for what you said - same. We will go on case

catalog tells us.

Some buyers will want the vintage variants of certain parts (for example original

most buyers don't care, but overall I am sad to see that the easy solution
was chosen on how to deal with this. It is both frustrating and upsetting.

What do you mean by variant and/or why do you need the information? Variant means
multiple things even for plain, undecorated parts. Take a look at the humble
3001.

Part No: 3001 Name: Brick 2 x 4
*
3001 Brick 2 x 4
Parts: Brick

The note there says "This part has a dizzying array of variants, only a few
of which have separate catalog entries."

So do you mean parts with variants that are recognized and catalogued as mold
variants, or parts that have known but uncatalogued variants that are not important
enough to be catalogued individually? There might also be some unknown variants
too but obviously they won't be on a list.

Some people care about all variants whether or not they are catalogued, whereas
others only care about mold variants if they are catalogued, and others still
don't care about variants if the part does the same job.

Nah this is completely unrelated. I am working with someone who's building
an automatic LEGO part recognition utility. a) some variants will be important
for them, while some may be critical b) the ones that don't matter should
be removed from the list of parts that they need.

Some time very soon some of you might start getting weird messages, asking to
use your shops to filter for a wishlist... looking to place 1 part per 1 lot
type of an order. I won't tell you how huge that wishlist is so you do not
get scared away

Thanks for the help everyone.
