Also, under the Remove Items(s) link, the description says:
Submit a request to remove items from an order, or cancel an entire order.

(Incorrect part in bold)

But when you go there it clearly tells you:
This procedure should not be confused with cancelling a whole order.

I have the BL Twitter feed set for for push notifications by sms. I set this
up when the only thing being posted were downtime notifications or site updates.
Now, most of the tweets are flickr links or retweets. Those are fine I guess,
but I don't need to get a text message for every one of them, so I will be
disabling the push notifications.

I'd still like to get those site updates, though. Any chance of getting an
actual BL ADMIN feed, in addition to the current BL AFOL feed?

Marc.

I second this, but I think these types of notifications should still go to the
current account as well, if some people don't check both.

Hi Kevin,
Do you mean that BrickLink entered into a non-compete agreement with PayPal,
such that BrickLink is disallowed from accepting payments via a competing service
such as Google Wallet? Or that in terms of the PayPal agreement specifically,
PayPal mandates the terms under which BrickLink may accept payment?

I forgot to add a question mark at the end of that. It was meant to be a rhetorical
question stating that it is up to Bricklink to decide how they get their fees.

  I think it is very
practical they take PayPal, as most of all transactions are with PayPal.

It is very handy, for sure!

There have been estimates by others that Bricklink Limited gets about $1 million
per month. Most likely they have some better contracts with PayPal than the average
seller.

Wow, awesome! $12M yearly revenues?! That is seriously cool!!

--Todd

That's not coming from me and is just an estimate, so it isn't actually
known if that is correct.

  Dear BrickLink owners:

I think it would be really neat if BrickLink 2.0 accepted payments using other
methods in addition to PayPal — e.g., Google Wallet, Cashier's check, USPS
Money Order, etc. The more options, the better.

It's not so much a technical request; I have accounts with both PayPal and
Goggle Wallet. The reason I suggest it is because it bothers me on moral and
philosophical grounds that PayPal charges BrickLink a fee to receive money when
that money already has had a fee taken out of it when the sender received that
money from someone else. In this case (which I believe is quite common), PayPal
gets to have its lunch and eat it too. And I don't think that's fair.
I may be in the minority, but I would be more than happy to spend ~$.50 on a
postage stamp and ~$1.00 on a Money Order to send BrickLink a check through the
mail, in orer to avoid BrickLink being charged a fee by PayPal.

Naturally, there are cases when PayPal legitimately needs to charge a transfer
fee — for example, if someone pays BrickLink using their linked credit or debit
card — but in many (most?) cases, a sender/seller will already have a pre-existing
PayPal balance... and in my view it is reprehensible of PayPal to slap BrickLink
with a fee to receive the money in those cases.

Sincerely,
--Todd Lehman, very satisfied BrickLink user

Isn't it up to Bricklink to decide how to accept payment. I think it is very
practical they take PayPal, as most of all transactions are with PayPal.

I would imagine to admin costs of managing lots of different payment streams.
The current system is mostly automated, only payments that don't go through
the form need a human.

There have been estimates by others that Bricklink Limited gets about $1 million
per month. Most likely they have some better contracts with PayPal than the average
seller.

If we fill the whole website with banners for this and that, they will become
such a normal thing that everyone just ignores them. Or there are banners everywhere
to just drive you crazy and get people confused.

I think it would be cool/helpful to have a system in Brick Link where you keep
your money, so Person A could buy something from person B, send him money, it
goes in Person B's BL Account, and BAM!

What do YOU think?

At least the way the site is now with the previous security problems, I would
say no and never use it until changes are made to BL in general to make it more
secure.

If you have been in the chat room before it was killed over a year ago, it'd
show the time spent in char room. Oddly the link still "works" even though it
leads to error page since the chat no longer exists.

Suggestion: remove link tag, convert "Minutes in Chat" to plain text for us old
people.

There's a link on the home page and there is still a help page for it as
well. It's been suggested many times, but never done. As the Bricklink code
is so fragile, chances are something else might break by removing the links.

Thank-you, Kevin. I was wondering too if there was any way that the city, state,
zip of the order can be put on the summary so as to make it easier to figure
out what tracking numbers belong to what orders once you arrive back home with
the receipt from the USPS. At the moment, I have to go into each order to hunt.

I haven't yet found a way to should the zip or state, but the feature may
be hiding somewhere. As mentioned, you can make the remarks visible (which I
find very practical) and also display the flag of the country of each order on
the summary page. Don't mix up Malaysia and the USA, though.

I've been selling for a few months now and with business picking up I was
wondering if the Orders Received interface could be more customized to match
the reality of what actually goes on. I have split the payment status from the
general order status, but what I really need is either a drop down that I can
specify what choices are there (I.e. "picking order", "picked all", "picked some")...etc.
I did see an option for custom checkboxes, but I don't see how to implement
them even though I have the option enabled.

You can use the standard drop down box for that sort of thing.
Most sellers do something like this:
Pending=Order hasn't been processed
Processing=Being picked/Hasn't full been picked or calculated
Ready=Order has been picked and invoiced.
The rest are pretty obvious.

Hello, I've been searching for items based on the description listed in BrickLink
based on a list of previous searches I performed, but no results are being found!
For example, I search for "Metallic Gold Minifig, utensil Trophy Statuette"
and get nothing. However, if I search for part of the description (i.e. "Utensil
Trophy Statuette"), then I can usually find the items. I wish search was reliable
in searching for all words.

Also, some words that appear in the item description are not returning results
(i.e. I search for "Sand Red" and get nothing, but searching for "Gilderoy" shows
up with "Sand Red" in his description).

Finally, I'm getting used to your standard descriptions, but I think it would
help search if the items also used standard LEGO descriptions so we could cross-reference,
unless there was a legal reason you couldn't use LEGO descriptions.

Thanks,
Brian

The issue is with the colours in the search terms. I am not sure if it is broken,
or just the way it is, but you can't search with a colour in the search box
at all. The easiest way would be to search for the item in the catalogue, and
from that screen click on the colour under 'items for sale'.

  Hello, I have another suggestion.

Is it possible to automatically decrement the Wanted List when buying items?
And why not, when one or more orders are in progress, put an extra line like
"you want to 8 but you are to buy 4 in another shop, you have to buy that four
theoretically"

If this option is I apologize.

After you order, you will given a link where you can remove items from your list.
IT does not happen automatically.

I think he means that when you have 8 items on your list and you buy 4 from one
seller, the wanted list should subtract 4 of that item from the 8. I know when
I am ordering with my huge wanted lists I have to make a second list of how much
to deduct from the wanted list for partials. It would be nice and probably an
easy code fix for BL to do this for us. It would also save me untold aggravation
when I accidentally delete the whole itme when I still needed to order 10 more.

I like the idea of items being subtracted from your wanted list. I would like
to see this done when the buyer changes the order status to completed, also if
the seller has already left feedback, the buyer gets 7 days to leave his /her's
feedback, if not done within 7 days, an automatic feedback is left for the seller.
If the seller hasn't left feedback after another 7 days, then automatic
feedback is left for the buyer.

Mike

What???

Are you suggesting that if a buyer doesn't leave feedback within 7 days because,
well, their item hasn't arrived, they are forced to leave feedback although
they don't have their order yet?

I've been involved in projects where nothing is off the table, they are debacles..

I think if we assume that "all ideas will be considered and scrutinized for usefulness",
then that's all we can hope for.

if they decide to put in a function to reduce two click tasks to one, then that's
fine, I'll either use it or not.

But all things only come with unlimited budget and resources, so I think it's
safe to assume they will look at things that are in the biggest bang for the
buck category.

Whizzy bang for the buck would be in Bricklink style.

Honestly, when I go back and look at the suggestions, I'd rather have chat

Most forums I am on (I know all of BL is a whole lot different than a forum,
but that's not the point.) have a messaging system. When I send a message

system so email "fishers" don't have any dinner. (Basically they reply
through BL only and get no access to a email.) I probably worded this horribly,
but I think someone will understand it and it would be very helpful. You could
still get these messages sent to your/their email, but a "To reply, Click Here"
could be embedded in the message.

Just ideas so no one has to say "No I don't have 100 2 x 3 bricks" (Anyone
remember that message?)

I think emails should still exist, but replies go through the system. I posted

Maybe even Favorite Tab1 & Tab2.

If not possible at least be able to set up which "sub page" open when clicking

Browser tabs can do this quite easily.

I remember you used to be able to put buttons in Google Chrome on the start page
to specific sites. But ever since the new version, they totally screwed it up,
and you can't arrange them the way you want anymore.

As for the OP's idea, I think it would be very handy.
