I do not have enough words to express my frustration about this.

There is no ticket system, no ticket reference, not even an option to see the

Baffling is an understatement.

How do I get a reply from bricklink?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Help is on the way.

  Hello!

I would like to formally ask for IDEAL as a payment method for the Dutch customer's

This payment method is long been the favorite for the majority in the Netherlands.

Currently there seems to be a limitation in Stripe to add this payment method
to instant checkout.

I did search on other topics related to this : but beside one I placed in the
wrong section;
the other topics are quite old.

So please do consider this small change in the stripe platform , it will be of
great benefit for all Dutch sellers and buyers a like.

It's a very safe , trusted, and recognizable payment platform that I'm
positive will also help with onsite instant checkouts (tax collection).

It’s the “IDEAL” payment method.

Well its not just about ideal really at this point, there are more easy to implement
options with stripe available; some more local then others..

Im glad the discussion for it is rolling though.

As a seller mostly myself, i dont even get any benefits for it.
It is just a extra service for mine and also other sellers stores towards the
ever changing needs of customers.

For the times i do buy here, as well as on Lego store i would love to pay with
iDeal over paypal. Simply because it is my most used method for close to a decade.

Germans, french, us, and more they all have different go to methods supported
by stripe.

But im glad the ball is rolling,
For those who truely where concerned of a daily forum spam;

I do hope u realise i have more to do in life then actual make an "daily"
forum dedication, the point was that this should be rolling for the benefit of
buyers, bricklink ,and sellers alike..

Best wishes

Every Dutch bank works with iDeal . Every Duch buyer can simply use it.

I did not have a PayPal account before I needed it for BrickLink. I still don't
like using this odd intermediate, when applications like iDeal are so much more
convenient.

Safety trumps convenience

IDEAL offers zero protection, because its just a bank transfer. Handy, but no
different from an IBAN payment. PayPal still offers the best protection. Maar
het is moeilijk om de ingebakken gewoontes van een Nederlander te veranderen.

You guys are talking about two different things.
I contacted my buyer and he did no such thing.
So I had to choose between paying VAT twice or have it sent back, and get a refund minus shipping cost.

All this because you're *assuming* you're going to lose something.
The return is always free for you.
You're protected by PayPal.

You don't need to ask the seller.

If they ask you to re-pay any Tax, simply refuse the shipment.

In short and for next time (hoping there won't be any), simply reject the
shipment.

I am not talking about the return. I am talking about the shipping I paid to
get the item, not to return it. I know the return shipping is not charged to
me. You are assuming a lot more than I do.

you see out there that someone would bother to leave feedback on something so
minor. If didn't try to fix the problem or if I was slow on shipping, not
commucative at all, parts were in bad shape or not packed well, then yes, leave
feedback. But a neutral is as bad as a negitive when it comes to the praise
precentage.

Sure, but the buyer will have to source the part from elsewhere and pay shipping
on that order - that's why it's a good idea to refund shipping costs.
At least offer it to the buyer (they might say not to worry about it).

But, the feedback states that I didn't reply and I did.

Might be worth replying to the feedback.

We actually boosted our server configuration WAY past what we ever thought we

But the demand for these sets is super high and it looks like they will be mostly
gone by the end of the morning. A good problem to have, but a problem nonetheless.

Why not set up your servers in Azure or AWS with Auto Scaling. It monitors your
applications and automatically adjusts capacity to maintain steady, predictable
performance at the lowest possible cost. You know, say hello to 2024.

It seems like they are incredibly outdated because of daily maintenance that
lasts too long, as well as the designer program orders breaking the website as
well.

Non of this is my fault. No matter how much you say it is.

But I wasnt instructed to not pay the VAT. I contacted the seller about it BEFORE
I paid and all he said was that he did all correctly on his side. So all I could
do was accept to pay twice or have it sent back and lose the shipping cost. Can
you really not see a predicament here. And why i chose to have the lego and pay
vat twice instead of having no lego and paid shipping cost for nothing.

Pay using PayPal, if the seller doesn't wish to refund you, PayPal will do.

Again, why would someone ACCEPT to knowingly pay twice, then complain? Can't
understand this point.

Explained it 3 times now, wont explain it a 4th time. If you dont understand
it, then there is nothing I can add to help you understand.

When a buyer says that he has been asked to pay VAT again, we instruct him to
not accept the package and not pay the VAT. When we get the package in return
we resend at our cost, and it usually works fine the second time. We lose on
the shipping cost, but that is usually a lot less that the VAT and fee charged,
and we just see that as a cost of doing business. Anyway this happens so rare
that the cost is of little significance to us. The buyers only loss is the extra
time it takes. We do not refund the VAT and fee if the buyer does not follow
our advise.

I told the seller I had to pay again before I paid it. He offered me nothing
other than showing me he had a confirmation that the IOSS was collected correctly
on the mechanism. SO why would he offer me all that when he thinks he did it
all correctly.

Yes, but why did the buyer accepted to pay twice?

IMO he's partly responsible of this mess (excuse me), and maybe seeing the
BrickLink absence of refund, seller and buyer should share 50/50% the cost?

How is this my responsiblity??? I paid correctly, then something went wrong but
nothing to do with me. Then I am asked to pay VAT again or have it sent back

lost the first VAT and the shipping cost.

So I decided to pay VAT twice because overall that would the least costly option

with BL, but that has gone into a dark hole.

I am willing to die on this hill. So how do I get my VAT back? I can log a claim
with PayPAl to get my VAT back, I doubt this will work. And I can file a chargeback
with my Bank. Other ideas?

But I will move heaven and earth to sort this out. And Bricklink have a responsibility
here to support me with this. The seller's hands are tied as well.

If I can remember correctly you can read Dutch.
I think Dutch tax authorities (belastingdienst) are quite clear about this situation.
They even give an example which can apply to Lego and your situation as well.

https://www.belastingdienst.nl/wps/wcm/connect/nl/internetaankopen/content/ik-moet-te-veel-invoerrechten-betalen-voor-mijn-pakket-uit-het-buitenland-wat-kan-ik-doen

I`m not aware if such helpful pages do exist for Irish citizens, but since it
is also EU the same rules might apply for you as well.

And yes I stand with you, BrickLink should address those problems and acknowledge
the problems and the recommendations from the EU. But even if they handle this
situation correctly for the future it does not help your case for now.

Interessant en bedankt. Ik ga het proberen terug te krijgen bij de Ierse douane.
