I have been on this site for many years now, and have done my share of purchases
and sales. Typically I charge the exact price it costs me to ship a given package,
sometimes I do this at a aloss i.e., I charge extra for the box (1-2 $), but
do not charge anything for the air bubbles or my hot glue gun.

Sometime back I ordered few parts ($5.00 worth), and the seller asked for $6.00
for shipping and $3.00 extra charges.

Maybe I have not kept up with the 'business', but isn't this extreme?

Maybe it is extreme, but you have the option of choosing another seller.

I have filled carts with the exact same parts, and noticed shipping from as low
as $4.80 to as high as $8 (all in the US).
One seller I buy from has fees that are added to shipping, but on checkout, not
shown in shipping cost when starting the checkout. I have come to expect this
from this seller, and probably would not buy from them if they didn't have
such a good inventory of the parts I like along with fast shipping. At least
I know what to expect when comparing carts before checkout.

Twice now instant checkout has charged buyer's less than half what shipping
costs on new set orders. I've infilled the rates and rates on my shipping
page and it has no idea what a set weighs evidently. Any help, suggestions, and
advice is appreciated. It does fine with minifigure orders but gets stupid on
sets. I've disabled instant checkout and feel it's easier to do invoices.
At least I'm not giving my inventory away

Make sure you enable the quote option and display it on the checkout page. I
usually empty carts when I see that it doesn't give me the shipping cost
upfront. Some exceptions are
- quote option shown on checkout page for me to select; - I have bought from
the seller often enough before to know that their shipping is reasonable; - no
one else has the part at a price not significantly more and I really want the
part bad.

There must be a way to enable instant checkout but have lots of exceptions to
it. I have done a search with "instant checkout" selected, only to have
to go through several sellers listings before one actually filled in the shipping
cost and allowed me to instant checkout. To see this I first have to meet the
minimum, so it becomes quite time consuming. I remove any parts with unknown
weights to see if shipping cost will populate, and often it does not.

I leave feedback when I ship. I don't see any useful reason to make the buyer
wait for feedback.
A wise person once said that the key to life was to do things for other people
the way you would want them to do for you. That's the answer to the feedback
dilemma in my book.

I am primarily a buyer and newish to this site. My store is being approved at
the moment.

For me its simple. As a seller your part is done when payment and address in
full have been received and goods shipped. There is no reason for feedback to
be held at this point. There is nothing i can do as a buyer better than pay quick
and provide all the needed info to ship so why delay my feedback?

There is a reason. There may still be an issue with the order and how the buyer
deals with this could impact feedback.
However, I see no reason to not post feedback as soon as the buyer marks the
order complete. Holding feedback waiting for the other party to leave feedback,
doesn't seem right to me, but waiting for the buyer to mark the order complete
does. Even the buyer marking the order complete is part of the transaction.

I used to be very good about leaving feedback, as a buyer. Now I have gotten
lazy, even related to marking orders complete in a timely manner. However, if
a seller doesn't have a lot of feedback already, I feel it is more important
for me, as a buyer, to leave them feedback. If they have thousands of feedback
already, any feedback I leave has less impact on them, unless my feedback is
somewhat different than what the thousands of feedback already say.

I just read through an entire post related to this (one that no longer accepts
replies). A few minutes before reading that thread I placed an order where the
seller did not offer an option with tracking, that I saw. I did accept all of
the default options and didn't change any options from what the seller defaulted
to (including pay by paypal). When I saw that shipping did not offer tracking,
I looked at my total, and decided it was well within my risk limit especially
for a seller with thousands of feedback, high percent of positive, and mature
responses to the very few non positives.

The seller is in Belgium.
Postage was 8 Euro (low for an international order)

I am curious how much more shipping would be with tracking.

I am curious as to the usual difference in postage cost with tracking vs non
tracking from European countries to the US and within the US.

those six technic pins might sit in your inventory for a very long time (months,

they are all gone.

There was a time when I would have bought those 6 technic pins, if I was purchasing
something else in the store.
There are parts on my wanted list that I am gradually accumulating, if I am in
a store buying something I specifically searched on, and the store has something
else on my wanted list, at what I consider a reasonable price (close to or below
average and lower than the price on the LEGO site), and it is not a part that
will cause my shipping to go up, I will add it to my cart.
If one has a small quantity of a part that is not rare and not a special part
where only one makes sense (such a printed part or character figure) pricing
it below average is a good idea.

Option for Quote should be shown, on the order submit page, anytime postage is
not calculated.
I have passed up lots of potential orders, and ordered from another seller due
to postage not being calculated. I have removed lots from orders to see if that
would bring weight down to a point where postage was calculated.
The other day I was shopping and noticed, that with very little effort, I could
request a quote. The option was right there, on the page where I would submit
the order. If this option had not been shown, I would have looked for another
seller, one that pre-calculated the postage.

This a very convoluted subject. In a store, it is possible to have certain lots
on manual-mode, and not have any RFQ methods active. It sounds like you have
encountered that. Some sellers have all the postage pre-calculated, but certain
items are so difficult to ship (and increasingly due to shifting USPS surcharges)
that it's almost impossible to automate them.

One example in point ...

Part No: bb0120 Name: Plastic Playmat, Hockey Rink Pattern from Set 65182
*
bb0120 Plastic Playmat, Hockey Rink Pattern from Set 65182
Parts: Plastic

I understand that. That is why having the request quote option right there,
where it is easily seen as an option, is a good idea. I know this is the reason
I choose to buy from one seller vs another the other day.

I was looking for this set (2093) for a long time. I managed to get both a sealed
and loose one (the loose one I got more recently). I'm so happy that I have
both one for display and one to play with!

Now I want that set. My favorite Primo piece is the tree (31609) because it
fits well with my Duplo forest, and the toddler likes this piece a lot. I also
really like the Caterpillar and the train. Until now, I didn't look at all
the Primo available, but only searched on it if I was in a store buying other
stuff.

The one thing that the Mega brand blocks have, that Duplo and Quatro do not,
is the slightly curved top edge making it easier for the toddler to get the pieces
together. But this feature is limited to the Quatro size. The Primo has this,
even better than the Mega brand. The primo also fits on the Duplo.

My 15 month old niece is just now able to get two Duplo pieces together easily.
She still has some trouble, depending on the piece, but has had a lot of successful
connections recently. She has no trouble with the Primo. She does better with
the Quatro than the Duplo but not much.

I read the titles and then search to see if there is a movie based on the book.
If there is no movie then I search for an audio book.

Before more efficient ways of absorbing stories (radio, tv, movies, etc ...)
children did read more. In fact many parents would be concerned if the child
spent too much time reading (similar to how parents might feel today if the child
spends too much time watching TV or even playing video games that require thinking

Set should be available from LEGO.com from 15-25 January with purchases of US

(Also, just some advice from a buyer’s point of view, you should seal that somehow
in a plastic container or something. That’d make me want to buy it more!)

Anything that is easy to forge, without decrease in quality, is not something
I would pay a lot for.
Something that was handed to me by the person the item is related to would probably
have more value to me than to anyone else. It wouldn't matter if it was
easy to forge, mine would have the memory associated with it.

On the inventory page, try entering 12.5 in the % off box. Any changes are rejected

In my Country we'd input 12,5

Just like for refunds or such, I never know if it accepts 12.5 or 12,5 and if
I remember well one of the pages is tricky for this

I used to code interfaces and user exits for SAP. I liked that number formats
were configurable to the user's country.

For sellers that rely on the REMARKS field to show storage locations, it IS possible
for BL to automatically COMBINE those remarks (it is the Concatenate option)
rather than overwrite existing Remarks entries when doing inventory uploads.

Not just via wanted list, but I often sort by highest qty and by not combining
lots the seller misses showing up high on the list.
