If you search the internet, there are a few tutorials on how to separate these
elements. I once set up a home-made jig for this very process.

  I don't see any figs in that package.

The figs were all eaten before the OP took the photo, along with the chocolates

  Well, there's a problem with this new relationship type. It works great
if you only have two items, but it doesn't work well if there are multiple
items (unless they all only work with each other).

So I guess during the "three-week long meeting" ( uh? not 'meetings'
- did you camp out in the office through the nights? 😁 ) there was no DBA (Database
Administrator) present asking the question of whether you want a one-to-one relationship
or a one-to-many relationship (or even a many-to-many relationship in this case)!

[WoutR] writes:

  Are you certain about that?
Does anyone have a paperback edition?

No I am not certain about that, this information is from online research.

I have found three prints of this book in English:

ISBN-13 | ISBN-10 | Title | Publish Date
9780241314227 | 0241314224 | LEGO - The LEGO Book New Edition (Hardback) | 4-Oct-18
9781465467140 | 1465467149 | LEGO - The LEGO Book New Edition (Paperback) | 2-Oct-18
9781465478207 | 1465478205 | LEGO - The LEGO Book New Edition (Prebound) | 2-Oct-18

'Prebound' means the publisher sends a batch of books (without the covers)
to an specialist binding company (sometimes do this in-house) and the batch of
books are covered differently. The end market is usually schools, but it can
also be for prisons, hospitals, library archives, etc. In this case DK did rebound
this book as hardback for libraries, but its ISBN is 9781465478207.

Also note the geo-codes and publisher codes from the ISBNs:

02-41314 is Dorling Kindersley, London, UK
14-65467 is Dorling Kindersley, New York, USA
14-65478 is Dorling Kindersley (Special Editions), USA

____END____

@StormChaser: I used Americanisms throughout. If you want a cut 'n paste
copy with HTML mark-up (with no footnotes) then message me your email and I will
send it to you.

This was more difficult than I had anticipated, and took a lot of research, writing
and re-writing, checking over and checking over again, and so on. However, it
is the start of what will probably be a great series of discussions, so I will
not be offended if any or all of the above work is changed/removed/obliterated,
etc.

There were places I could have written reams of information, but I realised this
was not part of the remit. Hwever, I had to provide some footnotes to keep my
insanity and know where I was confused or had difficulty in providing a definition.

Footnotes:

1 There are no items in the catalogue under the 'Legacy' category.
2 The term ‘magnet’ has two meaning, in this case.
3 Set

Set No: 30611 Name: R2-D2 - Mini polybag
*
30611-1 (Inv) R2-D2 - Mini polybag
70 Parts, 2017
Sets: Star Wars: Mini: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6
does not fit into the 'Mini' category!
4 Hair can be shared between ‘minifig’ and ‘minidoll’ see

Part No: 92257 Name: Mini Doll, Hair Friends Long Ponytail, Side Bangs, Hole on Top
*
92257 Mini Doll, Hair Friends Long Ponytail, Side Bangs, Hole on Top
Parts: Mini Doll, Hair
5 The complete assembly characters (like the goblins) fit in the second
part of the definition of this category.
6 Hair can be shared between ‘minifig’ and ‘minidoll’ see

Part No: 92257 Name: Mini Doll, Hair Friends Long Ponytail, Side Bangs, Hole on Top
*
92257 Mini Doll, Hair Friends Long Ponytail, Side Bangs, Hole on Top
Parts: Mini Doll, Hair
7 Second part was to be split out under discussion ‘Minifigure, Head,
Faceless’ (1010)
8 I could not work this category out, so I copied the description Dan
wrote.
9 "All but three of these sets were models of a form of vehicle and many
of these sets were duplications of sets released within the LEGOLAND (theme).",
Source: Brickipedia
10 There is no ’Modulex Tile’ category!?
11 This is more of a ‘tag’ than a category.
12 There are four sets

Set No: 4677 Name: Name Letter blister pack
*
4677-1 (Inv) Name Letter blister pack
67 Parts, 2004

;

Set No: 40155 Name: Coin Bank, Red Piggy Bank
*
40155-1 (Inv) Coin Bank, Red Piggy Bank
148 Parts, 2015
Sets: School Supplies: Money and Coin Bank
; and,

Set No: 40251 Name: Mini Piggy Bank
*
40251-1 (Inv) Mini Piggy Bank
248 Parts, 2017
Sets: School Supplies: Money and Coin Bank
in this category.

a It always makes me giggle when I see the use of the word (and forms
of the word) ‘mold’ or ‘mould’, particularly in the context of bricks, as we
are talking here. Imagine the term “molded design” as a brick designed to carry
a fungi ecosystem on it, rather than a plastic heat- and pressure-formed designed
shape.

Since the English language is unique to most languages of the world being that
it is has freedom to form and re-form, lets now refine the words mold and mould.
Right here goes: ‘mold’ is a “frame for shaping something”; and, ‘mould’
is “a furry growth of minute fungi”. I will inform Mariam-Webster and
Oxford of the changes they need to make to their dictionaries.

END Footnotes

It was all intense though, I actually enjoyed finishing this work (didn’t enjoy
doing it as much).

  As long as I can still do searches like:
"brick 2 x 3 decorated" (or exchange the "decorated" with any other word) and
then select a color from "More Options", everything is fine

Wow, I have been on Bricklink for about eight years and I have only just now
found a better way of searching for 'decorated' parts using the 'pattern'
keyword! Up to now, I have been using 'with' keyword to search for decorated
parts!

( a bit embarrassing really! )

  Provide input, please.

In my opinion, categories should stay with 'Decorated' and all parts
with 'Pattern' should changed.

The word 'Pattern', used in parts titles, is just a comfortable placeholder
in reading the part titles. Pick out ten random parts and read them with the
word 'Pattern' and then read them without the word 'Pattern'
and they mean the same thing.

To replace the word 'Pattern' with 'Decorated' would be a wasted
opportunity. So I will go with what you suggested later '
Design', where would be sticker, molded, etc.

This gets my vote. The term 'figures' is the correct term to use in
this context (toys).

The following two figures have the same title...

Minifig No: bio013 Name: Bionicle Mini - Barraki Takadox with Horns
*
bio013 (Inv) Bionicle Mini - Barraki Takadox with Horns
Minifigures: BIONICLE: Barraki
and

Minifig No: bio023 Name: Bionicle Mini - Barraki Takadox
*
bio023 (Inv) Bionicle Mini - Barraki Takadox
Minifigures: BIONICLE: Barraki

The only difference is the modified head, and I am unsure how to describe the
difference.

  You appear to be missing at least one sort - large figures with round yellow
heads, separate hair pieces and posable jointed arms with round open stud hands
with ball wrists.

I think these figures were from the Homemaker line.

Scala
Star Wars (Hygrotus is working it)
The Angry Birds Movie
The Hobbit/LOTR (not a lot to do in there)
The Lego Ninjago Movie
Town (lots to do in there)

I will do ' The Lego Ninjago Movie '...

  Reason: Outside of North America English, the word 'bunting' is used
for 'pennants'. Pennants are actually different and are used as a nautical
term for the signalling flags on ships, however, I presume North American English
(Canada and USA) have adopted this the term for festive flags also. Those outside
US/Canada may not find these parts when searching for bunting.

Actually 'pennant' is not the correct term at all. In US-English a pennant
is either a nautical flag or a championship flag (as in a professional baseball
league). The word bunting is correct and in the Merriam-Webster dictionary (so
definitely part of US-English) bunting is defined as "a lightweight loosely woven
fabric used chiefly for flags and festive decorations".

Please consider changing the following titles of these parts:

Part No: 3011pb030 Name: Duplo, Brick 2 x 4 with Blue, Red and Yellow Bunting Pattern
*
3011pb030 Duplo, Brick 2 x 4 with Blue, Red and Yellow Bunting Pattern
Parts: DUPLO, Brick, Decorated

to: "Duplo, Brick 2 x 4 with Blue, Red and Yellow Pennants Bunting Pattern"

Part No: 4182pb043 Name: Door 1 x 4 x 5 Train Right, Thin Support at Bottom with Bunting Pattern (Sticker) - Set 41034
*
4182pb043 Door 1 x 4 x 5 Train Right, Thin Support at Bottom with Bunting Pattern (Sticker) - Set 41034
Parts: Door, Decorated

to: "Door 1 x 4 x 5 Train Right with Pennants Bunting Pattern (Sticker)
- Set 41034"

Part No: 59349pb125 Name: Panel 1 x 6 x 5 with String of Magenta and Medium Azure Bunting with White Dots Pattern (Sticker) - Set 41132
*
59349pb125 Panel 1 x 6 x 5 with String of Magenta and Medium Azure Bunting with White Dots Pattern (Sticker) - Set 41132
Parts: Panel, Decorated

to: "Panel 1 x 6 x 5 with String of Magenta and Medium Azure Pennants Bunting
with White Dots Pattern (Sticker) - Set 41132"

(bold to show change)

term for the signalling flags on ships, however, I presume North American English
(Canada and USA) have adopted this the term for festive flags also. Those outside

  I have split heads into two categories. Minifigure heads now exist in the original
category and a new category titled Minifigure, Head, Faceless

I think this is great, not a perfect solution as you said, but great.

This is a moot point but a faceless head is not really a head at all, so the
actually the title is a bit silly if you think about it.

Also, I see that the term 'minifig' has been changed to 'minifigure'.
I remember in the forum that using the term 'minifigure' was frown upon.
I think it is something to do with TLG having the term 'minifigure' trademarked.

  Good find on those two figures. Yes, we need to address this. I am of the belief
that, generally speaking and allowing for some exceptions, items in the catalog
should not have exactly the same title.

I have found 29 duplicate titles of minifigs in the catalogue!

What about 'Dimensions Minifigs'? There are bunch of minifigs with the
word Dimensions Team Pack or Dimensions Fun Pack as their only
differentiation. If set numbers are to go ahead are these titles going to be
replaced with the relevant dimensions set numbers?
