You need to list them in your store for sale in order to post about them on the
Forum.

I'll cancel your post for now, but once they're listed in your store
we can un-cancel your post.

Starting September 17th (yesterday) Priority Mail shipments from the US to Australia
have been suspended on top of the First Class Mail Package service that was suspended
nearly two weeks ago.

It appears that it's Australian Customs being overwhelmed (and possibly understaffed)
requesting the suspension of service.

USPS Priority Mail Express and courier services (UPS/FedEx/DHL) options
are still available, but at much higher cost (and speed) than First Class or
Priority Mail.

As I get updates on this, I'll post them.

The code I usually see on Lego is: 95030090

Here is how you fix it:

1. email ups import help:

2. Provide them your tracking number
3. State the harmonization code is incorrect on the import form and provide them
the correct code: 95030090

They may be able to fix it for you.

In Catalog, StormChaser writes:
So there's an item on eBay that is not in the BrickLink catalog: 372862431557

I've attached pictures. The interesting thing is the copyright date on the
packaging (1984) and the item number (198561). That figure didn't first
appear until several years later:

Minifig No: sp015 Name: Futuron - Red
*
sp015 (Inv) Futuron - Red
Minifigures: Space: Futuron

So then I looked around and saw there are a number of items in what looks like
the same packaging with what is almost certainly the same item number. Search
for the item number on BL to find four of them, but there are quite a few more:

Gear No: KC100 Name: Classic Space White Figure Key Chain
*
KC100 Classic Space White Figure Key Chain
Gear: Key Chain: Space: Classic Space

Some of them would not have been released in '84. So all of that to say
that the copyright date on this bag is not trustworthy. It appears to be a generic
bag the company liked and used for a number of years.

I have a few of those keychain polybags and can confirm that the item number
is repeated, despite the contents.

IMO the Octan sheet and a plain hinge part should be added as alternate to the

I had one of each of those versions, so alternates would be best.

Valid, but cumbersome and potentially overwhelming:
Shipping Methods Available to Buyers In USA:
*Please keep the order open for now
*In-Person Pickup
*Arrange to meet at Legoland California
*Let seller pick the best method WITH TRACKING
*Standard 1st Class/Priority US Mail (w/Tracking)
*FedEx Ground (whichever is least expensive)
*Priority Mail (regardless of weight)
*For smaller orders (under 13 ounces) that you want in a hurry.
*Ground Courier service
*UPS or FedEx Air
*Let seller pick the best method WITH TRACKING and full insurance
*Standard 1st Class/Priority US Mail (w/Tracking) and full insurance
*FedEx Ground (whichever is least expensive) and full insurance
*Priority Mail (regardless of weight) and full insurance
*For smaller orders (under 13 ounces) that you want in a hurry and full insurance
*Ground Courier service and full insurance
*UPS or FedEx Air and full insurance
Shipping Methods Available to Buyers Outside of USA:
*Please keep the order open for now
*In-Person Pickup
*Arrange to meet at Legoland California (limited availability)
*Let seller pick the best method
*USPS First Class Airmail (7-10 days)
*USPS REGISTERED First Class Airmail
*USPS Priority International (4-7 days)
*USPS Express (2-4 days, Includes tracking)
*FedEx International (Includes tracking)
*UPS International (Includes tracking)
*DHL International (Includes tracking)
*Let seller pick the best method with full insurance

*USPS Express (2-4 days, Includes tracking) with full insurance
*FedEx International (Includes tracking) with full insurance
*UPS International (Includes tracking) with full insurance
*DHL International (Includes tracking) with full insurance

Whew. That suggestion nearly doubled my shipping options.
Isn't that existing checkbox a lot simpler? It even flags the order to show
what the buyer wanted at the time of purchase, whereas shipping methods can be
changed by the seller unilaterally.

Voted no.

BrickLink stores do not "sell insurance" any more than they sell shipping or
packaging materials by passing along postage and related costs to buyers.

Each day, millions of businesses invoice their customers for shipping, handling
and insurance in addition to the price of goods ordered. I have never heard
any of those retailers described as "selling insurance" or selling the boxes
their orders come in. These are simply expenses that are legitimately passed
along to buyers.

Thor

Your objection sounds more like a "yes" vote to me. I don't understand your
objection to the suggestion, based on what you wrote. Sellers choosing whether
or not to pass costs on to the Buyers is exactly what Marc described in his suggestion
(as distinct from Buyers choosing this). Can you elaborate?

-- Cameron

Insurance is an OPTION offered by many sellers. Not just here on BrickLink,
but by a great many other online and mail order businesses in the real world.
I understand some businesses prefer to include insurance and build it into the
prices of their goods and/or charge for S&H. I have no problem with that, although
I can often find better deals from other sellers who do not add these costs.
Thus, many businesses offer insurance as an option and let the buyer decide,
and by doing so they help keep costs lower for the buyer. Oftentimes significantly
lower than sellers who require or include insurance in their prices. Marc's
suggestion to effectively become the PayPal Police would remove the ability of
sellers to offer insurance as an option for the buyer to choose, and would increase
costs for many buyers.

That is not an accurate description of my suggestion. Nowhere do I mention anything
about "Paypal police" or anything about Paypal at all.

And NOT selling insurance would not increase buyer costs at all. Any more that
NOT selling envelopes does.

As a buyer, I prefer having this choice and will usually
avoid sellers who force me to buy insurance or build "self-insurance" into the
prices of their goods.

It comes down to simple economics for me. Of the 1372 orders I placed on BrickLink
only two uninsured orders were lost, having a combined cost to me of just over
$100. Had I been forced to insure all those other 1370 orders, it would have
cost me at least $5000 more in extra shipping charges and insurance fees. The
math is simple: $100 versus $5000.

Thor

Again... my suggestion does is not about forcing anyone to pay insurance fees.
You have brought this up multiple times, but you are the only one doing so. The
suggestion does not require it or even imply it.

--
Marc.

So, if the BUYER wants insurance, how does the seller know that?
Don't say "in the order notes" or "in a separate e-mail" as those can be
missed in a transaction.

While I disagree with your suggestion, I agree that the subject warrants some
more discussion.

Bricklink sellers don't "sell insurance" any more than they "sell postage"
or packing material or taxes or payment processing/acceptance fees. (Though it
makes it a little gray when sellers mark-up their shipping prices). Sellers
pass through those costs to buyers or else eat them themselves.

There are also more than two parties involved in the vast majority of
Bricklink transactions:
Buyer
Seller
Bricklink (though their involvement isn't part of this element of transactions)
International customs (when applicable, though, they are almost never involved
with this issue)
Payment processor
Carrier (postal system or systems, private carriers and their contractors)

Who actually sells the insurance? The carrier (though it may be through
a contracted company or subsidiary)
Who is responsible for making sure that the product gets to the customer?
According to Paypal in the US, the Seller is, no matter what other agreements
the buyer and seller have made. Rules and ToS for Paypal and other payment processors
vary between countries and even within countries.

As a buyer I like that option (when it's available), when I
may be skeptical of the seller (will they disappear with my money if the package
never arrives? Do they pack MIB boxed sets by wrapping paper around it so it
arrives completely squashed?) or the postal systems involved (Looking at you,
Italy. Your postal system could manage to destroy a stress ball. Or UPS as I've
had footprinted, tire tracked, and even forklift-skewered packages).
There are times when I'll insure a order for replacement cost, and
not just the cost I paid because because one seller has a rare item for $80,
the cheapest replacement for it may be $120 and if it arrives damaged or missing
then "someone" is going to put what I want in my hands for no more than I originally
paid; getting my money back doesn't resolve my need before I ordered the
item.

As a seller I let buyers have that option and I reserve the option to
add insurance at my own discretion (though I have rarely done this). As a small
store I can seldom absorb the loss of an uninsured order; and in my case, that
loss equates to orders I then can't afford to place. I don't have a
"business expense" or homeowners policy to put a claim toward.

As Thor stated (and all seasoned sellers know) bad stuff RARELY happens, but
as a 10+ year veteran of retail shipping management and another 5+ years of Bricklink
selling I certainly know that bad stuff CAN happen and eventually WILL.

You can do this already. My order notifications, invoices, and drive-thru notices

Yup. I also agree with this suggestion. But by now, as workaround, when I part
a set or need a certain number of a piece, I usually specify how many I need

all stores that have it, not only the ones that have exactly or more than I need.

This can actually be the smarter way to do it. I've need larger quantities
of a certain uncommon part and found the few stores that had the high quantities
also had far-above-average prices on them. I set the minimum-quantity to lower
that what I needed (to filter out stores that had less then 10% of what I needed)
then put my total in the Comments section.

* I'd like the option to see/buy stuff from a seller even if the quantity
is too low.
* It'd be nice if when I buy it from a seller it was removed from my wanted
list (Or if I buy 10 and wanted 25, my wanted is reduced to 25). Clearly
an option per wanted list
* When sellers have bajillions of lots of the same part, only Auto-Fill enough
to reach the wanted amount, if I want 70, don't do 70 3x just because they
have 3 lots available with 125, 92 and 73 of some part.

There are all good suggestions and all three can currently be done, though not
automatically by the site.

It might be worth getting another e-mail service; as even many "free" ones have

go to that folder before I see them. Bricklink-related contacts and even Moderator

My main E-mail screen looks similar to this:

Work (15)

Many items on my wanted list rarely come up for sale, so I click those first

I'll dissuade and downvote any option that automatically removes items

don't want it removed from my list.
There are items in ANY quantity I'll buy any time a seller happens to have them

If more buyers learned that this function already existed and actually used it,
there wouldn't be so many requests for some sort of automatic function.
The site already gives you this link when you place every order. More people

You can already do (part of) this:
Once the order is placed you can follow a link that will take you to a page that
shows what items of that order appear on your Wanted List and you can delete
or otherwise edit them.

You can also go to your Orders Placed page, Customize the appearance:
http://www.bricklink.com/orderSettingsCols.asp?v=p&viewFrom=O
and check the box next to "Items in Order on My Wanted List Icon" (1st column,
2nd row)
And it will put a link on each order line so you can edit your wanted list with
each orders' contents.

I would like to see some sort of small notice or alert if an inventory has changed
since the last time I've parted out that specific set.

Definitely a good suggestion. I mentioned it before a couple years ago and nothing
has been done.

That is why whenever I list a set for sale, I always provide the date on which
the inventory was verified in case a change happened after my date of listing
the set.

Some sets' inventories have been amended after they've been verified as well

Ok, an inventory was submitted, and the submitter forgot the extras.
Why would you want to be alerted?
Haven't you counted the parts when you added them to your inventory?

Next thing, you parted out a set 5 years ago (or another member parted it out
12 years ago) and the parts are long sold or merged with other lots you added
years later. An error has been undetected for years in the inventory and is now
corrected.
What sense would the alert make?

I parted out this set (of course the European version)

Set No: 2255 Name: Sensei Wu blister pack
*
2255-1 (Inv) Sensei Wu blister pack
10 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 5 Gear, 2011
Sets: NINJAGO: The Golden Weapons: Spinners
Someone added the North American versions of the game cards later.
Why would I want to be alterted about the adding of the alternate cards?

Short story:
In how many instances would it really help someone to be alerted about changes
in an inventory?

Every seller is responsible for what he/she adds to his/her inventory.
Simply using the part out function and blindly adding the parts to the store
inventory is at least careless if not ignorant.

Why should the system help sellers who are too lazy to check what they add to
their stores?
What would be the benefit for BrickLink?
Would BrickLink earn more money?
Would it result in more sales?

I voted no. Too much waste of valueable programming time.

Ronald

The only reasonable counter-argument I can come up with is when a set is inventoried
using current known parts and the new set is being shipped with a new part variant
that is not functionally different or even significantly visibly different from
the known version it was inventoried with.
Not every seller can be expected to look through a jeweler's loupe at every part
they put in their inventory, either.

Of course, sellers would HAVE to use Bricklink's part-out system for this to
work at all and sellers like me that use Brickstore could not benefit from it.
