Set No: 8302 Name: Rod Rider

48 Parts, 2011
Sets: Racers: Tiny Turbos

* Add 4 Part 15573 Lime Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove and Bottom Stud Holder (Jumper) (Alternate) (match ID 1)
* Add 4 Part 3794b Lime Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove (Jumper) (Alternate) (match ID 1)
* Change 4 Part Lime {3794 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud, Jumper (Undetermined Type) to 3794a Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud without Groove (Jumper)} {match ID 0 to 1}

Comments from Submitter:
Bought the set new from LEGO in 2011 and my part inventory only has the jumpers without grooves for this color. Included possible alt pieces for used sets.

We only add alternates to sets when those pieces actually came in a new set.
Since there is no proof that the others ever came in the set, they will not be
included in the inventory.

Cheers,
Randy

and am still getting the scam emails, I am certain it related to either the hack
or fake contact/orders on BL that can harvest seller emails. Had a lot of these
orders, immediate cancel request, and no contact there after a few months back.
I know it was to phish my seller info as often as the pattern was repeated exactly.
But even messages we reply to can do this as the system still lonks our email
to those. It really should not do this unless an order is placed, or even confirmed
as paid by the system (instant or seller marked). Simply put, contact info should
remain better protected until a transaction is deemed legit. BL is largely an
open book for all seller info if the party wanting to phish it knows how the
site works.

Waltzking

Is there any need at all for buyers/sellers to see each other's email contact
info even on legitimate orders? Maybe I've been using instant checkout and
the pay now button for so long I have forgotton, but it has been a while since
a buyer has made a payment directly to my email address. Since BrickLink implemented
sales tax collection, all (at least all of my) payments are negotiated through
PayPal Marketplace.

Maybe other payment methods require an email address.

I know some people send photos via email (if only we could attach photos to a
BL message!).

I'd be perfectly happy to have "public-facing email address" be an
option that I can enable/disable at will.

You have some very good points here. The whole communication architecture on
BrickLink is definitely in need of some upgrades. They may want to start looking
into it sooner rather than later.

For example, every transaction I have on eBay has everything done through the
eBay platform. There is never any communication outside of the platform between
myself and anyone that I purchase something from. In that way, the user on the
other end remains completely anonymous. It would be a good model to look into.

Interesting theory. But the scammers that caused the November 3 incident are
the same ones that caused the problems last night, and the variant merge project
was not exposed to the public before January 2024.

As much as companies tend not to boast about the number of online attacks they
receive, we do see a remarkable increase in scammer activity across the board
- throughout many companies and across different industries. To us, it does not
feel like BrickLink is being singled out.

Good to know. Let's just hope that our beloved BrickLink can make it through
largely unscathed. I am sure I am not the only one that doesn't want a repeat
of November 2023 to happen, but everytime someone falls for one of these things,
we get closer to that happening again. I do feel bad for those getting targeted,
but people need to be cautious.

Then why doesn't that show up in the change log for the part?

When things are adjusted behind the scenes on catalog entries, they are not recorded
in public logs.

And judging from the people who are receiving phishing emails (e.g I'm not),
the phisher is probably part of an online BrickLink group somewhere else (Facebook?
Discord?) that all of you are also part of or maybe they ordered from all of
the phishees in the past and already have all of your contact information to
use.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by this message. Please explain.

I see no reason not to accept this change at this point. The part color and sticker
are right.

/Jan

Actually, there are no instructions for this set, so the only thing that shows
stickers is the packaging and set images. On that packaging and in the set images,
it shows the small heart sticker with crown used on the bed, not the large heart
sticker with crown. Therefore, this part should be marked for deletion since
there is no basis for it having an entry. Basically, the stickers in this set
were meant to be used however the builder saw fit to use them.

Cheers,
Randy

Oh, there are two heart stickers? I didn't realize because the photo of the
sticker sheet is of an incomplete sheet with that large sticker missing. Thanks
for noticing.

/Jan

The sticker sheet should probably be marked for deletion.
How did a sheet missing stickers get past the admins?

There is no need to mark a sticker sheet entry for deletion unless it always
had more than one version listed under one entry and needs to be split. All of
the information necessary to list a sticker sheet properly is in the item name.

Some sticker sheets are not easy to get ahold of to get a new image, so the catalog
uses what image it can get. There have been a number of sticker sheets in the
catalog over time that did not have complete sticker sheets in the image or no
image at all, but quite a few have been replaced or added over time. Maybe one
day, this one will, too.

Cheers,
Randy

  Hello,

I ask for your help because I am stuck in a grotesque situation.

A person who just signed up to bricklink was unable to read the description for
item 5306bc069
Black Electric, Wire with Brick 2 x 2 x 2/3 Pair, 69 Studs

He said that since it's depicted as "PAIR" I should have sent two.
He left me a negative feedback and expected me to send a second for free.

I tried to explain that he was totally wrong and that you do not leave a hasty
feedback this way, to no avail.

So I wrote to BL for feedback removal, and they denied it.
The user wanted me to refund, so I asked him to send me the part, and I would
have refunded him.

He shipped, and in the proof of shipping I saw that he mispelled my surname,
thus when the package came, the postman found no one with the misspelled surname
and the package came back.

Now, when the package comes a second time I will:

- Have lost a lot of time behind this user, and money also.
- gained a negative feedback that is totally unfair and the administrarion refuses
to remove

Is this so easy for a newcomer to ruin the feedback ratio of a 14 years history
bricklink shop? I'm not worried about the single negative, but about the
power that is given to people unable to understand totally what they are doing.

in them. Please point the buyer to this thread if they need more information.

Cheers,
Randy

Thanks, still I have a negative for no reasons, as the picture depicted the correct
item...

That's why I said to point the buyer to this thread. Then maybe we can better
explain the situation and why they are incorrect in their interpretation of the
item. I am hopeful that it would give them the push needed to remove the negative
feedback.

  Hi all,

This question comes up often on the facebook group "BrickLink Worldwide Buyers
and Sellers"

Can minifigures be sold as new when they are assembled?

On the help page for "item for sale condition" (https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102)
it states the fololowing:

New Minifigures - Minifigures are brand new, taken directly from new sets
or purchased as new in another form such as accessory packs or Pick A Brick and
have been handled only for sorting. Minifigures may be listed as new either assembled
or unassembled.

There are 2 ways that people read this:
1. Minifigures can be assembled and still be sold as new as long as the part
comes straight from the package.
2. Minifigures must be unassembled unless they come assembled from the factory.

What is the correct way to interpret this 1 or 2?

1

In case 1 is correct what is stopping people from selling minifigures that have
been displayed for a few years as new?

Being displayed for years is _not_ "have been handled only for sorting".

If number 2 is correct than the help page should be rewritten so there would
be no more confusion.

PS. @Admin, I am not sure if I put it in the correct topic so feel free to move
it if necessary.

And how is assembling "only handled for sorting"?

It isn't, which is why the guideline is contradictory in its own right. It
is a relic from the past that should probably be better defined at this point.
However, that is the current definition and the way it is currently interpreted
by BrickLink.

In Buying, BrickBonder writes:
How many mistakes in an order do you all tolerate before contacting a seller?

None.

If it is a glaring issue (e.g. used sold as new), I will ask for a refund.

If it is something simple (e.g. a missing part), I will just send a friendly
notice to the seller so that they can adjust their inventory accordingly. When
I do this, sellers have always been very appreciative.

However, I rarely get errors in orders. Order from stores you know are good and
keep them on a short list to check when it comes time to purchase something again.

For egregious cases the decision is easy, but I just received yet another order
leaving me with a frustrating decision to make. I understand quantity errors,
but what gets to me are the missing lots that occur in roughly 50% of all orders
that have missing lots that bother me.

In this case, I probably will not say anything, because only 2 of 60 lots are
missing, they are not minifigures, and because I can get them from Lego.com for
$4 total. However, the decision is still annoying because one of the lots is
for right wedges to match left wedges that did get included.

Notes:
-Yes, I have tried ordering fewer lots, but it seems you have to keep it under
20 lots in order to prevent most seller mistakes. Those smaller orders are usually
not cost effective for me after factoring in shipping costs.
-If you receive an order containing a printout with a hand-written check mark
next to each lot, consider favoriting that seller. Those sellers are rare and
almost never make mistakes.

Comments from Submitter:
The parts listed are all more commonly found in flat silver than they are in pearl light gray. It would be incredibly unlikely that the parts are more common in flat silver because of set 7179-1, where most appear as an alternate, because that set was a limited release and significantly less common than set 7168-1, as well as this part #64251 "Bionicle Fist with Axle Hole - 3 Fingers" is more commonly sold in Flat Silver than it is in pearl light gray. As that part did not appear in set 7179-1, it could not be from that set and must be an alternate from this one.

Sealed set unboxing showing all pieces in the lovely new flat silver color at
the time:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUvDkP1uIVg

All of the pearl light gray pieces are well established as having come in the
first production run of this set, so all flat silver pieces are indeed alternates
for the later production run.

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 8734 Name: Brutaka

8734-1 (Inv) Brutaka
191 Parts, 2006
Sets: BIONICLE: Titans

* Add 2 Part 48253 Flat Dark Gold Bionicle Weapon Chronicler's Staff (Alternate)

Comments from Submitter:
I had a brand new brutaka set that came with flat dark gold "chronicler's staff" instead of pearl light gold

The submitter of this request never responded to any messages for further information.

I cannot find any evidence that this set ever came with

Part No: 48253 Name: Bionicle Weapon Chronicler's Staff
*
48253 Bionicle Weapon Chronicler's Staff
Parts: BIONICLE {Flat Dark Gold}

If it did, it would have most likely been a packing error since the color scheme
for this set uses exclusively pearl gold and not flat dark gold. The PCC in the
instructions also confirms that the part was pearl gold.

Without any hard evidence, this request will not be accepted.

Part not used in build but listed in instruction inventory list. (Can be seen in the prototype build with the blocked gun tube.) ONLY 1 needs to be removed. Form won't let me.

This request will not be accepted.

After further research, the following parts were found to be included in this
set and are all shown on the official parts list in the original instructions
and included in the official piece count of the set:

1x

Part No: 30055 Name: Fence 1 x 4 x 2 Spindled with 2 Studs

Part No: 2540 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Bar Handle on Side - Free Ends
*
2540 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Bar Handle on Side - Free Ends
Parts: Plate, Modified {Orange}

However, none of these pieces are actually needed to build the model according
to the instructions.

According to our inventory definitions, all of these parts should be located
in the Regular Items section:

  Hi all,

I have discovered that the LEGO House Tile has 2 versions, see below.

Part No: 4162pb110 Name: Tile 1 x 8 with White 'LEGO House' Pattern (Undetermined Type)
*
4162pb110 Tile 1 x 8 with White 'LEGO House' Pattern (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Tile, Decorated {Black}
Marked for Deletion

Appeared in sets 40502, 40501, 4000010 and 21037, with PCC 6089148.

And it was updated to:

Part No: 4162pb306 Name: Tile 1 x 8 with White 'LEGO House', Thin Font with Arrowhead 'G' Pattern
*
4162pb306 Tile 1 x 8 with White 'LEGO House', Thin Font with Arrowhead 'G' Pattern
Parts: Tile, Decorated {Black}

And this newer version appears in sets 40503, 40563, 40504 and 40505, with PCC
6320270.

Once the newer tile has been approved I will update the set inventories above
accordingly, and add a relationship between the 2 tiles.

I have put in a request for the version currently in the catalogue to change
it's name and remove it's second PCC.

Any questions just let me know!

Thanks,
Josh

Good catch, Josh! 👍

This tile will definitely need a proper split so that the items in stores can
be relocated to proper catalog entries. If we just renamed the current one, then
a lot of items under that entry would be wrong. Give us a bit to get to this.

Cheers,
Randy

Quite new with all the catalog requests:
I added three new rare pieces I would like to sell. It's been quite a while

Is there a way to ask someone kindly to proceed with the upload?
I cannot sell these beautiful cloth patches until someone uploaded the items.

Greetings.

Patience, young padawan.

We have mountains of work to do and not enough time to do it all, so things that
are not as important get inevitably pushed to a lower priority status. Gear items
that are rare and unlikely to have much effect in the marketplace are in those
lower tiers of priority, unfortunately. Therefore, it might be a little while
before we get to them still, but they will be gotten to.

Thanks for your understanding.

Comments from Submitter:
My own set, not mixed with other sets. Pearl Light Gray 4497 spear, Flat Silver 3847 sword.

Information for the future, if necessary:

(1) Although 32064b in DBG was still hanging around in 2009 (it's last year),
I could find no evidence of 32064b ever coming in this book. Therefore, I have
removed 32064b from the inventory and placed 32064 in the Regular Items section.

(2) I could find no evidence that 4589 without the top groove ever came in this
book, and I highly doubt it ever did. Therefore, I have removed 4589 from the
inventory and placed 4589b in the Regular Items section.

(3) Evidence was found for both versions of 6126, so those can remain as is.

(4) Evidence was found for the spear and sword in pearl light gray. Prior change
requests in the past had proven the existence of the parts in flat silver.

store display from 2006

I am sorry to say that we will not accept change requests based on store display
models. There is no proof that store display models are constructed using the
same batch of parts used to assemble the sets in the plant.

I don't know if I filled it in correctly, I'm doing it for the first time, but brick number 30153 should be Trans-Neon Green

You filled it in ok, but you could also have done it with 1 line by using Change
instead of Add and Delete. For more info about submitting inventory change requests,
see our help page:

May I know the source of this request. This inventory is submitted based on Parts
List, but the other 2 similar books also have this part in Trans-Yellow and those
inventories are submitted based on New Books.

Thanks,
Diana

The submitter of this request was never heard from again.

The other two versions of this book in the catalog both contain a trans-yellow
jewel and were both inventoried from "Sealed Set Contents". Also, the
main image for both of these other versions are real images of the books submitted
by the users who did the inventories of them. In one of those images, the jewel
can clearly be seen as trans-yellow, so there is no reason to doubt the inventories
of the other versions.

*
b12cty06uk (Inv) City - Crooks on the Loose! (Softcover) (English - UK Edition)

Since the image for the book in this request is just a stock image, there is
at least some reason to believe that the stock image shows the wrong color jewel
or is not color-balanced properly (the 2x8 plate is supposed to be tan but looks
neon yellow).

Barring no evidence to the contrary, this request has not been accepted.

Comments from Submitter:
Purchased sealed back in 2011.

From the change logs, 4623 was added as an alternate to 4623b on Jan 11, 2012.
At that time, 4623 was the "determined" entry for 4623a (only later added
to the catalog on Jul 18, 2020), so someone had 4623a in their set. Therefore,
I have returned 4623a to the inventory in the Regular Items section and made
4623b the alternate.

Likewise, 30237 was added as an alternate to 30237b on Aug 28, 2012. At that
time, 30237 was the "determined" entry for 30237a (only later added to
the catalog on Dec 3, 2022), so someone had 30237a in their set. Therefore, I
have returned 30237a to the inventory in the Regular Items section and made 30237b
the alternate.

The new version has not shown up in any sets yet, but we are on the lookout for
it. Once we know more about the new mould, we will either add the alternate item
number if it is similar enough to the old mould or add a new catalog entry. Until
that time, we must wait.

Unless you have the new mould already? In that case, we would need to see good
comparison images between it and the old mould.

Cheers,
Randy

Comments from Submitter:
This set was redesigned to use a different hook base and hook, and it is verified by the instruction books for the two versions of the set. Also, the cars in the regular items section were only included in very early releases of the first version of the set. They were replaced by the cars in the alternate items section in later releases of the first version of the set and the second version of the set.

Image of a sealed set of a later release of the first version of the set showing
the alternate cars which would be solely used in the second version of the set.

Comments from Submitter:
even though i have no picture of the stickered bus, i really want to link all the duplo wheeled storage trucks at least by the lid to make it easier to see the related items. i now have a fire truck so i'll eventually with enough sun/warmth will be able to add some more images.

This lid is part of the packaging for the set, so it is naturally included under
the box entry for the set. Therefore, it does not need to be added to the inventory
as well. It is like a larger version of a Bionicle canister.

Randy

Comments from Submitter:
I own this set and can confirm these as alternate items.

I did a bunch of research on this set, and it looks like the set always came
with bright green pieces as far as I can tell. The set was produced for at least
7-8 years from sealed sets that I have found evidence for, and I can't find
one instance of the set coming with green pieces. Also, the official LEGO inventory
data for this set states that it comes with all bright green pieces. The eye
bricks in the set did change over the years, but nothing else looks like it ever
did. After I accept these requests and move them all to the regular section,
I will be making a change request to add the modern eye bricks as alternates
with photo evidence for all of them.

Cheers,
Randy

  Hi everyone,

One of the side effects of the variant merge project is that some of our more
advanced users began asking for Alternate Item IDs to be included in the catalog
download feature.

So we have added this field to the download - see attached images. Downloads
(as before) are available in either CSV or XML format.

By way of reminder, for the variant project we are adding all original item numbers
as alternates to make sure people are able to easily find parts where the number
has changed.

Another great little add-on. Keep them coming!

Missing counterpart black slopes with red and gray sticker

This request will not be accepted.

The proper procedure to add a stickered Counterpart to BrickLink and a set inventory
is as follows:

(1) Add the stickered part to the BrickLink catalog:

https://www.bricklink.com/wantedCatalog.asp?catType=P

Help on adding an item to the BrickLink catalog:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=71

(2) Add an image to the BrickLink catalog for the stickered part:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogImageAdd.page?itemType=P

Help on adding an image to the BrickLink catalog:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=87

(3) Fill out an Inventory Change Request to add the stickered part to the set
inventory after it is approved by a Catalog Associate or Catalog Administrator:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChange.asp?itemType=S

----------

Here is a great tutorial that BrickLink member jennnifer created to help others
with this process:

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by this message. Please explain.

I see no reason not to accept this change at this point. The part color and sticker
are right.

/Jan

Actually, there are no instructions for this set, so the only thing that shows
stickers is the packaging and set images. On that packaging and in the set images,
it shows the small heart sticker with crown used on the bed, not the large heart
sticker with crown. Therefore, this part should be marked for deletion since
there is no basis for it having an entry. Basically, the stickers in this set
were meant to be used however the builder saw fit to use them.

Randy

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 75879 Name: Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H
*
75879-1 (Inv) Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H
179 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2017
Sets: SPEED CHAMPIONS

* Add 2 Part 4865b Black Panel 1 x 2 x 1 with Rounded Corners (Alternate) (match ID 1)
* Change 2 Part Black 4865 Panel 1 x 2 x 1 {match ID 0 to 1}

Comments from Submitter:
I add as alternate but it might be that 4865 was not used in this set, the decorated parts with sticker show the rounded corner too.

Well, the original inventory was submitted by a former Catalog Administrator
from "Sealed Set Contents", so I would like to assume that they got it
correct.

This is a part that eventually needs the 4865a version added to the catalog so
that the 4865 entry can be made undetermined.

Therefore, I will accept this request as is for now.

Cheers,
Randy

No wheels in this tanker.

This request will not be accepted since the wheel assemblies came with the set
so that it could be played with on land instead of in water. Attached is an image
of the section of the instructions that show this.

YES!! Finally!!

This has been asked for over and over and over for at least the last five years,
so it looks absolutely amazing to actually see it come into existence!

I just browsed a ton of pages just to look at the beauty of it all. Magnificent!
It makes finding images that are missing for certain colors or images that
need to be tweaked to look better light years easier to find. That will save
a lot of time for those that like to improve the look of the catalog.

It's the little things like this that make a huge difference to users: things
that fix, enhance, or simplify core functionality of the site. More of this,
please!

I am seriously ecstatic over here about this!

There is an issue with the image upload. Try adding the link without an image.

The image upload was just fixed last week.

So, it only took five months for the fix. That is pretty fast for BrickLink speeds.

Actually, the links image issue was reported in June of 2021. Definitely one
of the longer fixes.

Well, congratulations are in order none-the-less. Anything that gets fixed is
welcome.

In the past, items were flagged as obsolete but remained in the catalog. This
allowed them to be preserved for a time but removed the ability for sellers to
continue using them. This options provides a number of benefits such as preserving
price history (for a while) and not breaking innumerable want lists. What is
the downside to doing this instead of the current process?

You will have to ask the people at BrickLink corporate because this was their
decision and it was rushed through by them.

I've only checked this one.

I'm used to seeing variant messages for parts that have "soft" variants
- why do these merges not have them? I'd argue they are clearly significant
variants worth noting if they used to be listed separately.

Cheers

An additional note has been added. I am trying to add notes as the merges happen.
However, since I am not the one doing the merging, I have to check things after
the fact and may miss one here or there. Thanks for the notice.

Randy

Comments from Submitter:
Sealed set: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0vceF1fIyE Only three 32270's are used in the instructions, and the 32039 is unused. However, they are part of the piece count (43) and appear in the inventory from LEGO. This matches with Peeron (http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/8571-1) outside of a supposed extra 3713.

Nice work! 👍

That gets things much closer to, if not completely, correct as far as what was
packed in the set. However, I think the LEGO Group messed something up with this
one between the design phase and production phase.

Randy

It is a regular item (always included) in the Awesome Edition, so it should be
in the Regular Items section if inventorying one of those.

Thanks!

Do I just add it as the only thing in the inventory?

Typically, we would have a boxed set entry that would contain the game and the
set, but we don't have an entry for that and the current images show that
the set is included. So, yes, it will be the only thing in the inventory.

I would like to see an image of this before I add a note. In fact, it would be

  Hi,
Actual dims given for this set seems to be the box dims, not the model dims.

I can give exact measurement, verified on a real model : verified on Stud.io
But this Castle has different display configurations, which changes dims a lot.
I dont know which one you want to put in the database.

Display parameters :
- open/close the walls (positions of the 3 base plates)
- open/closed drawbridge: change 3cm on the depth
- position of some parts: baseplates angles, flags orientation, pin connector
(may vary ~1.5 cm)

The photo display on the box & catalog shows: walls closed / drawbridge open
config

Measurements verified on a real model: (Width x Height x Depth)
walls open / drawbridge open: 65 x 24 x 29 cm
walls open / drawbridge closed: 65 x 24 x 26 cm

Measurements verified on Studio:
walls open / drawbridge open: 62.4 x 24.2 x 29.5 cm
walls open / drawbridge closed: 62.4 x 24.2 x 24.2 cm
walls closed / drawbridge open: 27.6 x 24.2 x 34.3 cm (as seen on the box/catalog)
walls closed / drawbridge closed: 27.6 x 24.2 x 31.2 cm

All set dimensions in the catalog are based on set contents in a brand-new sealed
package. This was made this way to ensure a consistent system that could simply
be used across all sets. All of the measurements you list above for different
scenarios is why it is this way.

Hi, I am new to Bricklink and am still learning how it works. I have many old
sets from my son, all from the late 90's and am trying to put them all together.
I have the instruction books for about 98% but am finding the books differ from
the set inventories on this site. For instance the Flame Chaser Helicopter #6531.
I have been using this reference to find all the pieces needed but now am concerned
that the instructions I have differ from the inventory I have been collecting.
Not really sure what my question is,, but am concerned the pieces don't
add up to the instruction books I have. I came online as some of the pieces were
difficult to see very well and was unsure of the colors needed. Why would these
differ from the instructions?
Hope this makes sense

Set No: 6531 Name: Flame Chaser
*
6531-1 (Inv) Flame Chaser
50 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1991
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Fire

Read the inventory note at the bottom of this page:

Thank you for checking all of these, but we actually already knew that all magazine
sets carry the Blue Ocean logo or name.

However, we don't add the co-brand Blue Ocean to them because there are also
other distributors mentioned on the back of those sets, and they differ depending
on the theme and which magazines are published by which distributors (and that
can also change over time). Checking and adding the distributors for all of the
magazine sets in the catalog and every new magazine set would be a massive amount
of work, while that information is probably not really interesting or important
for more than 99% of all users.
Additionally, many magazine sets already have a co-brand (like Marvel, DC, Disney,
etc.) and it is not possible to add multiple co-brands through the set submission
form, so for many future magazine sets it would always be up to us to add the
additional co-brand(s). And as long as we can barely keep up with new regular
set inventories and new parts, it's not the best idea to increase our own
workload permanently.

I don’t mind adding them, but I only add them if they are checked. Leave it to
me.

Threat? How is this a threat? The site will literally lose its value if it continues
down this path (not saying it has yet).

If you literally can't understand how you threatening to stop shopping here
is a considered a threat. I can't help you.

In the end people will need a different source to complete sets accurately.

Ok. I sort of agree with that point, but I don't get the emotional gyrations.
It is what it is. You don't own the site.

You and the other, 10 ish people who are super upset could be putting all that
energy and time into creating that if it matters as much as you all insist. But
no, time is better spent complaining. Per usual.

Crystal

What she said. I am getting so tired of hearing the same thing over and over.

Then ignore the posts. There is no need to respond to all of them so that you
in turn keep getting responding to. Break the cycle. Unfortunately, it seems
there are too many strong personalities here that have a hard time doing that.

The only other thing I have to say on this subject is this: people have a right
to be upset, so let them be upset and deal with the changes in their own ways.
Some go quietly, but some need to let go of it in more open displays of disappointment.
In the end, it won't matter one way or another because the changes have for
the most part been done. That means people will either move on and stay here
or just move on. There are many of us who lost a significant portion of our lives
to the merges that just occurred, and we have every right to mourn the loss of
that information and the significant time and money we poured into the obtaining
of that information for the use of the worldwide LEGO-fan community. A little
empathy will go a long way towards moving people through this time of anguish
and hurt.

And on that note, I have pretty much concluded my transition through this process.
I debated what I could, helped to save some entries from getting merged, and
I will do what I can to keep the site moving forward through the process. There
are always other things to look forward to, and I still have many accomplishments
on this site that I am very proud of (and more to come).

Cheers,
Randy

The Theme Explorer stopped in 2023 from an other Contributor.

Thanks for the additions. That makes it all the more clear how difficult these
things are to find in the catalogue.
The need for a better organization remains as high as ever.

Easiest solution would be to ask the addition of Blue Ocean Co-Brand to all these
sets, all on the back have an imprint mentioning Blue Ocean Entertainment AG
so these appear here:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&promoCatID=384

But on some magazines there were Polybags like in Ninjago and Technic.

Also these are available in Spanish too.

Co-branding is different for different countries, in my country it is Billy Bones.
So that doesn't help either.
Best way in my opinion is to advance with 'magazine gift' in the title.

As far as I know, the magazines are published by different companies in different
regions, but the sets are all produced through the Blue Ocean partnership.

... but nobody knows that and will not search for Blue Ocean when they in fact
are searching for sets that come with magazines.

Since you are a very experienced catmin, I am very curious to hear your thoughts
on my original proposal to create a separate description for it.

I haven't formed any complete thoughts yet, but the idea has merit. In other
words, we will look into it.

It is obvious that it was handed out at LEGOLAND Discovery Center.
(Since it says LEGOLAND Discovery Center)
I also know that it was handed out in KC, Missouri as well. I would assume it
was at most if not all LDCs.

So how about just remove the note that says it was handed out at LDC Atlanta,
and replace it with:

"Please note that there are Different versions of this part with different
Colors, different languages, and even different copyright years. Each unique
image has has a separate entry."

The note was not needed since all relevant parts have been added to the same

The same note could go on each?

Perhaps add these to the "Item is similar to:"

What was the point of merging 44302 and 54657? The other hinge bricks/plates?

All of the element numbers are gone and now it’s going to be harder to find the
specific variant.

They are all here. They have to be added manually after the merge has run its
course. Because of a bug in the PCC upload process, it can be really tedious
to add many of these at once, so I break up the process a bit to keep my sanity:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp?itemType=P&itemNo=44302&v=2

If you spot some that are missing, please file a request to add them. Same thing
with any alternate part numbers. I am adding all original numbers as alternate
numbers so there shouldn't be any trouble with people finding things.

And for the other comments in this thread with concerns that the project is being
executed in a careless or haphazard way, I am working line by line through a
spreadsheet that was prepared and proofread weeks ago. Nothing has been merged
by mistake, and nothing will be.

Sometimes I will do things out of order, or leave a section partially done. This
is because of time (and I am quite behind on the project already) and because
of some technical limitations of the merge feature. There are several "big"
parts where I will need help from a developer to complete the merge without jeopardizing
site performance.

Why were the grooved variants merged?

Because they were on the list from the beginning:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2629

The reason they got on the list is because they are not classified as cosmetic
variants or typical grooved parts. The groove became apparent when the teeth
on the hinges was being examined, and the grooves were distinguished for the
same reason as the teeth. But when we remove the reason for recognizing the teeth,
we also remove the reason for recognizing the groove.

Just so everyone else has the complete information, here is what really happened...

The grooved (44302a) and non-grooved versions (44302b) of 44302 were separated
in the summer of 2018. The catalog admin team started talking about seven- versus
nine-tooth parts in the summer of 2020 when they were discovered, a full *two
years* later. A lot of work had been done in those two years to separate 44302a
and 44302b in inventories before the seven-tooth version of the nine-tooth 44302b
first appeared.

Therefore, what is mentioned above about the commingling of the timelines of
the "groove" and "teeth" variants is not how things actually
happened. So, yes, a ton of data was just destroyed for nothing and merged that
was not within the scope of what was talked about (grooved versus non-grooved
parts would not be affected). The fact that these were on the merge list from
the beginning shows the lack of knowledge concerning these parts.

This catalog project was a rushed and stupid idea.

Merging parts did not move element numbers over because the merging process doesn’t
come with that built into it. Was that something that site admin considered before
this bright idea? Nope. Why bother ensuring a smooth transition when you can
carry on without a plan in mind? After all, that seems to be par for site administration.

Listening to community complaints? A waste of time.
Improving site functionality? A bigger waste of time.
Considering that a project of this scale would undermine years of progress and
effort from your catalog administrators and community members? An even bigger
waste of time.

Then, catalog administrators and community members have to clean the mess up.

44302a and 44302b were not supposed to be merged! What the heck?!?!

We were specifically told that only the 7-teeth and 9-teeth hinges would be merged,
which meant 44302b should have only been merged with 54657.

44302a and 44302b were isolated because one has a groove and one doesn't,
and nothing with grooves was supposed to be merged.

This is definitely a catastrophe for and a big middle finger to all of the contributors
who did all of the work separating out those variants over the years. What an
absolute nightmare.

Since I'll be pulling from that bin tonight I'll physically add the dimensions
for all the sheets, but I thought they were there back when I first started selling.

Sticker sheet packing dimensions have only been added since packing dimensions
for all items types were added to the database about three years ago. There are
still a _lot_ of sticker sheets that do not have packing dimensions, so any that
are missing would be appreciated.

If only someone would have predicted that the forum would start seeing tons of
these messages once parts began to be merged...

It would have been nice of the site to inform the membership of troubles that
would be caused by the merges when it came to wanted lists. Or they could have
just fixed the logic in the wanted lists? 🙄

Since these can be seen as "different" languages due to different spellings
of words between the English dialects in the UK and USA, you can just use the
"Same Books in Different Languages" relationship.

Just starting to work on the inventory for set 60431. I have a wedge part that

Should a new catalog submission be made or should I include 13269 in the inventory?

Hi Chris!

Thank you for being so diligent about checking for new part variants. Fortunately,
we already knew about this one and have been discussing it, so we should have
a ruling shortly.

For your information (and anyone else's who happens to read this thread),
the differences are in the very significant redesign of the underside of the
part (see image).

Randy

Part No: 3688 Name: Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex

3688 Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex
Parts: Slope

The description for this part says that it can have either a blocked open stud
or a hollow stud. To me, having one entry for a part that appears to have two
versions is a problem. For sellers, there is no way to list the two variations
separately, and for buyers there is no way to know what version they will be
receiving in an order.

This can be a problem if a buyer needs one version, but receives the other. Please
create a second catalog entry so sellers can differentiate the two versions in
their store listings. I would recommend the following...

3688a - Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex with Blocked Open Stud
3688b - Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex with Hollow Stud

Hi there! Are you running a string through the stud? That is the only way the
variant could matter for what you are building

This is what I am using the slope for. It's the fighter plane MOC I mentioned
a few days ago. The slope forms the nose and I want to insert the following part
into the tipe to form nose probe of sorts.

Part No: 58176 Name: Bar with Light Bulb Cover (Bionicle Barraki Eye)
*
58176 Bar with Light Bulb Cover (Bionicle Barraki Eye)
Parts: Bar

I don't know if the Bionicle Barraki Eye will properly fit in the tip of
the slope if it isn't a hollow stud.

"Hollow Stud" and "Open Stud" are two completely different things,
and I think you are confusing them. A hollow stud does not have a hole all the
way through, whereas an open stud does. The slope you are looking at _never_
has an "Open Stud", so any version of the slope will function the exact
same. If you truly want an "Open Stud", you should use the following
cone:

Part No: 3942c Name: Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
*
3942c Cone 2 x 2 x 2 - Open Stud
Parts: Cone

"Blocked Open Stud" and "Hollow Stud" are currently in the process
of being merged in the entire catalog, so unfortunately, this will not occur.

Inventories should be adjusted as close to original new set contents as possible.
If the official piece count helps to confirm the changes, even better. As mentioned,
some of these were fixed in the past due to random inventory changes here and
there, but there are many sets in the catalog that do not follow the modern definitions
used to inventory sets. Any inventories that you can help to fix would be welcomed.

I am pretty sure that if you do not log into your account for a year, then your
store inventory gets removed. At one time, it was set to six months, I believe,
but it is set at a year now. Hopefully someone that knows for sure will chime
in. I am sorry this has happened to you. You aren't the first to come to
the forums after years away wondering what happened.

* Delete 3 Part 75c12 Green Hose, Rigid 3mm D. 12L / 9.6cm

Comments from Submitter:
Came across a new one on these and the hoses definitely measure 13 studs long. Unless they are an alternative, but I doubt it as this particular set according to Bricklink inventory has the only known green hoses with 12 studs long, whereas there are a few more that have 13 studs long from that time period.

I have accepted your changes as the hoses of the inventory confimer can't
be verfied at this time and the original inventory's source is unknown. Peeron's
inventory doesn't state the length of this hose, and BrickSet state that
the lengths are 112 mm, so 13L is probably a good compromise.

/Jan

That 112mm hose in the Brickset inventory (which comes from LEGO data) is a _ribbed_
hose, not the ones being talked about here. And that one is correct in the inventory.

Comments from Submitter:
Official piece count is 157. Main model only uses one of these pieces (manual 1, step 9), but the alternate model uses both (manual 2, steps 19 & 22).

I added the extra 3713 back to the inventory. The original inventory had three
3713 in the Regular Items section which was later changed to two in the Regular
Items section and one in the Extra Items section. At that point it was correct,
only to later be incorrectly changed to one in the Regular Items section in 2012.

Also, the number of extra 4265c was incorrect after multiple wrong inventory
changes in the past. I have corrected that, too.

All of this data can be confirmed now by the official LEGO inventory data and
by the inventory on Peeron which was compiled from a sealed set.

This inventory is finally correct after more than two decades of being on the
site. Amazing.

Cheers,
Randy
