My collection of sets on display has expanded quite a bit recently. In the last
year alone, it has gone from only three sets to seven sets at the current time.
It's becoming a bit of a chore to keep them clean and dust free of dust.
More sets are in the planning stage for later on down the road.

Anyone have any experience cleaning lego with something like a make-up brush?

I use this brush to dust Lego(not that I ever remember to)

I feel sorry for your LEGO. Doesn't that leave a ton of scratches??

It depends on the brush. A wide cheek brush is not going to work. Built LEGO
has too many nooks and crannies. I use a soft synthetic acrylic paintbrush from
the art store. It's kinda pricey ($10-15) but leaves no scratches.

I know, but honestly I thought that Bricklink was free of any scams... evidently
I was wrong. Do you think I can manage to get my money back?

BrickLink is an open marketplace. You need to look out for yourself! Good thing
you used Paypal.

Read feedback. Read terms. If an offer is too good to be true, it is usually
too good to be true. Don't buy rare or expensive items from sellers with
no experience.

Okay, I have done a bit more research here. Before anything can be done with
this counterpart, the assembly parts must be present. For part 65766 to be added
to the inventory, it must be found in a sealed set and added as an alternate.

Part No: 65766 Name: Technic, Steering Wheel Hub Holder with 2 Pin Holes and 2 Arms with Axle Holes without Slots (Reinforced)
*
65766 Technic, Steering Wheel Hub Holder with 2 Pin Holes and 2 Arms with Axle Holes without Slots (Reinforced)
Parts: Technic, Steering
is actually listed in the LEGO data for this set. If the admin will
accept video evidence, the newer variant does appear to be here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok_DUwfjSQQ

at the 7 minute mark. If this is good enough, I will submit the change requests
and get the OP's request taken care of.

Thanks,
~Jen

The alternate black part 65766 is not listed in that set. I just parted out a
used 42107 and that came with that part in it. Either way those parts can be
combined...just want to add that to the catalog as LBG if we can.

Hello,

If the combination is not shown in the LEGO instructions or found in a sealed
set, I do not believe it will be added to the Catalog.

The big merges have not been finished yet. I need help from a developer to make
sure we don't shut down the servers with the merge operation.

Thank you for your response. That makes much more sense!

Hello,

From everything I have read here, the merging of 44302a/b was outside of what
the variant merge was intended to do. I don't care whether it was an oversight
or a misjudgement or just a mistake. Let's everyone take a breath here and
just work toward fixing this.

44302a and 44302b were grooved variants. This catalog still supports grooved
variants. BrickLink, please restore this change.

Thank you,
~Jen

44302a and 44302b were not supposed to be merged! What the heck?!?!

We were specifically told that only the 7-teeth and 9-teeth hinges would be merged,
which meant 44302b should have only been merged with 54657.

44302a and 44302b were isolated because one has a groove and one doesn't,
and nothing with grooves was supposed to be merged.

I agree. If LEGO released a part variant today with a groove on one side for
any plate, I would be adding it to the Catalog as a new part.

I believe this oversight should be addressed and corrected as soon as possible.
Please, BrickLink, restore specifically the grooved variant of this part.

Thanks,
~Jen

Why were the grooved variants merged?

Because they were on the list from the beginning:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2629

The reason they got on the list is because they are not classified as cosmetic
variants or typical grooved parts. The groove became apparent when the teeth
on the hinges was being examined, and the grooves were distinguished for the
same reason as the teeth. But when we remove the reason for recognizing the teeth,
we also remove the reason for recognizing the groove.

I am sorry but I am not following the logic here. I understood that the reason
for merging the 2 teeth variants was that they were functionally and visually
not distinct enough to matter. However, the groove is a separate issue isn't
it? Previous communication about this project has iterated that Groove / Without
Groove was not going to be affected. And now it has.

Can we please get an answer on why specifically 44302 was merged? How is the
distinction different from 44567a/b and 44301a/b?

Thanks,
~Jen

Does anyone know if there exist copies of 98133PB04 ? Should the original have
a lego logo? And in case it doesnt have a lego logo, how can we distinguish a
fake vs a real?

I have more items to come, so please help me adding them for sale.

We just need time. Can you create more of that for us?

What does take the admins soooo long to approve stickered parts? Isn’t it just
looking at the instructions and checking to make sure the item name is descriptive
enough?

Pardon my lack of knowledge.

I can fix that lack of knowledge.

You can look here:

https://www.bricklink.com/calendar.asp?v=C

or at the Newest Items log to see what's taking soooo long. There is simply
a huge amount of work to be done. Much of it needs careful consideration and
research.

Look through the Approval Pending Overview and see how many parts do you think
need corrections or to have their images edited? Or for submitters to actually
respond to questions asked?

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogPend.asp

Add to all of this that the admins have not had their tool set upgraded since
the site was still Green. You get the idea....

Together into one listing with just different selectable colours?

The figs are technically the same just different in colour, we already do the
same for the torsos, why not figs too?

Minifigs don't have colors assigned.

3688 Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex
Parts: Slope

The description for this part says that it can have either a blocked open stud
or a hollow stud. To me, having one entry for a part that appears to have two
versions is a problem. For sellers, there is no way to list the two variations
separately, and for buyers there is no way to know what version they will be
receiving in an order.

This can be a problem if a buyer needs one version, but receives the other. Please
create a second catalog entry so sellers can differentiate the two versions in
their store listings. I would recommend the following...

3688a - Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex with Blocked Open Stud
3688b - Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex with Hollow Stud

Blocked Open Studs and Hollow Studs have a similar footprint/shape. They should
both hold the Barraki Eye the same. Are you perhaps looking for an Open Stud?

Who is with me?

BrickLink inventories are currently intended to show the contents of a New set.
Used sets are at the mercy of both the buyer and seller understanding the terms
outlined here:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102

Obviously, a New and Used set can have distinct differences in the inventory.
Unfortunately, BL doesn't have the infrastructure to show inventories for
each set condition.

It does look like it has been heavily manipulated. It looks very similar to the
dark brown image (orientation, pip on stud, shadows) but cleaned up and recoloured,
maybe put through a photo-realistic filter.

No, it's just an image with too much light. It's reflecting off the white
base and background and washing out the edges.

That's not a valid argument as there are multiple categories with even less
item:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=991 (4 items)
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=1252 (3 items)
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=527 (6 items)

And many more.

So that's NOT an argument that sticks....

I said SPLIT a category, not create one.

Not all categories use the same definitions.

Otherwise, we'd have a modified and a decorated for every single category.

changed too, from inventories A & C!!!
It's SO UNBELIEVABLE, I didn't get any mail from the BL team saying there
was a major issue since the variant merge...
Please, has anyone noticed this issue?
are there any other bugs??

Thanks!
Soon

There hasn't been a major issue or there would be a mutiny here on the Forum.
I know it's frustrating to deal with errors in your inventory, but consider
the bigger picture. There are 4,800 Dark Brown 3062 for sale on the site, but
the only problem was with your shop? The number and name were updated on Feb
1. No items were merged.

Take a breath and check your info again. I do hope you find the issue!

need to know!

Thanks all,

HKC Family

Yikes! I hope someone sends them a kindly worded explanation of what Neutral
means here.

You can see for yourself here how long it has historically taken for new sets
to be added and inventoried.

Photos aren't good enough for color identification. Direct comparison is
the way to go. Find a decorated part that only comes in your color to use for
comparison.

For example:

Part No: 59349pb334 Name: Panel 1 x 6 x 5 with Brick Archway, Dark Blue and Dark Bluish Gray Frame and Lattice Screen, White Roses, Leaves, and Thorns Pattern
*
59349pb334 Panel 1 x 6 x 5 with Brick Archway, Dark Blue and Dark Bluish Gray Frame and Lattice Screen, White Roses, Leaves, and Thorns Pattern
Parts: Panel, Decorated
only comes in Medium Nougat.

Printed minifig legs are great for this!

Part No: 970c07pb12 Name: Hips and Blue Legs with Magenta Boots, Silver Bubbles Pattern

sending a simple email has become quite easy. So, WHY the sellers don't receive
emails when there are issues with updates?
And I don't talk only about this variants merge issue.
I'm talking about all the sellers' inventories technical issues related
to updates that have been happening these past 4 years (I started selling in
2020)...??
Sellers spend an awful long time working on inventories... this dedication on
their inventories is not even worth a bit of respect and attention from the Support
team : that's my general feeling for these past years... I need to be informed
when there were technical bugs / issues on my inventory, for God's sake!
Because I don't want to spend 30 minutes looking for 1 item that's not
here anymore or realizing that items that I still have magically disappeared
in my BL inventory.
This is really tiring.
As sellers, we are entitled to a little bit more respect and we should get information
emails when there has been bugs.

Soon-a-b.

Could you be more specific about what technical issues you are referring to?
Are you talking about Catalog changes that affect your inventory (like a category
change) or actual bugs in seller inventories?
If it's the latter, I have not experienced any of these. I have always been
able to track down any discrepancies to user error. (Mostly, not checking that
the page fully updated before I left it.) Nor have I read about any that weren't
related to third-party software or order checkout.

Thanks,
~Jen

Yeap, it is the later, and I can assure you I'm not the only one having these
technical issues, unfortunately.
One of my friends owns a store here too and encounters these issues. Mostly items
that were sold and reappear in store, or the contrary. I can assure you it's
not the seller's fault
I only work on the Bricklink website, not from Brickstore, may be that's
the reason of the problem.
And yes, I learnt to wait for the page to finish updating before leaving it..

Anyway, my post actually is about COMMUNICATION
what I was trying to say is that it would be really cool, if, for a change, the
support team would keep sellers informed a bit more than presently..
Thanks!!

I am certain that using BrickLink without third-party software is not what's
causing your issues.

Without access to change logs for our store inventories, it's very difficult
to track down phantom inventory errors. I think you are asking them to communicate
with you about issues that have not been reported, acknowledged, or fixed.

The reality is that if there were large-scale store inventory issues, sellers
would be reporting errors here every minute of every day.

I opened 8 sets and got 16 of these black bars so 2 on each set not 1.

Only 1 noted that I found, and have never seen included as Extra part.

They appeared as Extras before 2014 according to our Catalog data.

My apologies! I didn't mean to just point out the obvious.

I didn't get the impression from reading through what's been said that
much care was being given to the API and other people who link to BrickLink.
It was always going to be a messy transition.

Take care,

tile pieces are really common and I assume this has not only broke mine, but
will break everyone's XML files people have shared.

Please let someone take a look at it.

Forum software platforms allow time limits to be set for how long after posting
a comment someone can edit it. A lot of forums use 30 minutes. Bricklink could
use 5 minutes as far as I'm concerned - short enough to allow correction
of typos, or of missing words that change the meaning (like an accidentally omitted
"not" or "should" instead of "shouldn't" and so on).
That would enable folks to edit without engaging in the kind of revisionist history
you're concerned about.

It's also worth noting that the current system allows you to entirely delete
(aka cancel) a message. I just looked up the first message I ever posted here
on the forums, from Sep 2021, and the Cancel function still appears as an option.

So I think there's clearly a better way: allow edits, and have an automated
time limit for both edits and cancellations. That solves the problem you are
concerned about - which, again, already exits via cancellation - while allowing
comment edits, which every web forum I'm aware of has allowed for many years
now.

This is a good conversation and I just want you to know that I am not trying
to argue with you purposefully. I feel it's important to always speak up
when anyone wants to 'upgrade' our Forum and may not understand all the
specifics involved. It's somewhat arcane knowledge from an advanced user.
And it's for you and for whoever reads these, and whoever at BrickLink
may get ideas in their heads, too.

It's important to know the function here is not just for communication and
social media. The technical requirements would have to be built into any changes
that happen here.

Thanks,
~Jen

ps. If I could add just one feature here it would be a notification of a direct
reply. That would be SO nice!

It seems there are a good number of simple, plug-and-play forum software systems
around today that enable such features and much more without a whole lot of administrative
setup effort.

Thanks!

It's not so simple as that. Yes, we need more features, but a plug-and-play
system won't work. Parts of our Catalog system work extensively with the
Forum. We can't just throw that away. The entire process would need to be
reworked and developed.

Look in Topics to the entire Reference Catalog section.

https://www.bricklink.com/messageTopics.asp?utm_content=subnav

Plus, aside from discord, I haven't yet met a Forum that worked as well as
this one. That is, once you learn the functions and get past the vintage graphical
interface. Most forums also have too much visual clutter.

~Jen

Thanks for your reply. I hadn't considered the question of catalogue integration
- thanks!

However, with respect I do have to say that the archaic thread structure and
the inability to edit a post or comment(!) has nothing intrinsically to do with
catalogue integration and I remain skeptical that at least comment editing couldn't
be implemented without requiring a total ground-up rework.

Just curious... What's wrong with the thread structure? To me, it seems extremely
straightforward. I can easily read any message or any thread within a message
by using the 2 links at the bottom of the page. (Entire thread on one page, etc.)
I can also quickly find replies I want to read by scanning through the visual
message tree.

Thanks,
~Jen

I understand that reasonable people can differ on the question of the thread
structure.

One aspect I would cite is that people routinely post comments that repeat information
in other comments in the thread... because those other comments are part of a
different "branch" of the thread.

Okay, but there is also the advantage of being able to easily ignore a thread
within the discussion that has devolved into an argument. (Or extended pizza
frivolities)

But I would hope we could all agree that something as basic as being able to
edit a comment instead of having to cancel the entire thing and start over, would
be useful and isn't too much to ask - yes?

Yes, and no. Personally, I think being able to edit and fix spelling or grammar
would be great. However, I wouldn't like it if people were able to change
what they originally posted derailing or redefining the entire conversation.

Also, the new text from the edited post wouldn't populate into any existing
responses that copied the text from the original. So, then there would be more
than one version floating around the discussion. That's not good either.

My two cents...
Thanks,
~Jen

Also, many posts relating to changes within the Catalog are kept and are part
of the public record. It wouldn't be good if those comments could be edited
or changed unless we had a Change Log for these as well. For good or bad, all
our comments and mistakes are there to stay.

Thanks,
~Jen

It's not so simple as that. Yes, we need more features, but a plug-and-play
system won't work. Parts of our Catalog system work extensively with the
Forum. We can't just throw that away. The entire process would need to be
reworked and developed.

Look in Topics to the entire Reference Catalog section.

Thanks,
~Jen

Do you mean should LEGO call it a different version or BrickLink? If LEGO doesn't

How are sellers to know which version they have without opening it?

Thanks,

In my opinion, there is 1 version, but Lego has made some misprints in the set
which can be exchanged by contacting Lego
but I don't understand why the set is uploaded with the parts with misprints,
I guess they are meant to be thrown away

Umm... I don't think mistakes are 'meant' to be thrown away. That's
a pretty large assumption.

My rule of thumb for distinguishing variants in my shop:

If a buyer were to receive these two (slightly different) parts in one lot in
their order, are they going to question whether some of them are fake or unusual?

It's the same with colors. If the parts I am listing are too different to
use in one project, then I either split them or make a note.

**I realize that larger shops can't possibly do this.

Just to add my opinion to this conversation. The reality is that...

The 2454 and 46212 do not both exist in transparent colors:

*
2454 Brick 1 x 2 x 5
Parts: Brick {Trans-Clear}
[p=46212,12]

...yet. If tomorrow LEGO decides to make a solid color 46212 (or vice versa),
we will be forced to split 2454 back into two listings. Their functional differences
are significant.

Just because the transparent color use makes this easy to differentiate at the
moment, it doesn't mean we count on it being that way.

Thanks,
~Jen

The only reason to keep them separate is to distinguish the early solid color
versions which had no side supports. But that is a minor consideration and practically
speaking there is no functional difference.

You would also be hard pressed to say that any of those early sets came ONLY
with the earliest version of the part. Both types are correct, and maybe there
were both types present in some copies.

As for people needing to place 1 x 1 round tiles inside the 46212, this only
happens with the transparent version.

Is it a set that will increase the value even more?

Some colors of parts from this era are becoming brittle and cracking. Dark Red,
Dark Brown, Reddish Brown, etc.

If your set is used, you can check these parts carefully. If it's still sealed,
well, then?? It's anyone's guess how it will all turn out.

Not very helpful I know!

I had always hoped to reopen when my elderly parent caregiver roll had ended.
I feel like it's just not worth the bother to merge or update all these parts
with "notes" of variants. That's quite ridiculous. I don't know
what the push is, but this is certainly pushing me to the point of - is it worth
my time?

This is a very bad, generic move - the catalog was awesome, now no more.

Really. I'm not sure what to do to keep my inventory current now.
Apparently, I've missed a lot.

Judith

Before you worry too much about it, I would advise checking your inventory against
the XML list of the parts that are affected. It's not as many as you would
think.

**Can someone repost the instructions on how to do that here? I can't seem
to find the post. And has this list been updated yet with the newest announcement?**

Once you know, you can decide if you want to continue to list these separately
(with a note for you and your buyers) or combine your lots once the merge is
done.

Thanks,
~Jen

Also I would be interested to learn if there is any way to find out how the different

There are many examples like this. The mold/print variants of the Mini Doll legs
were not added from the start, so it's very difficult to separate them now.
You can track down the differences from the PCC's sometimes.

Keep trying. Programs tab then current programs. Select what you want, which
takes you to the main Lego site to finalise your payment. Once you get off this
server it's fine.

Yes, this was my experience also. I was able to click on 2 different sets, ignored
the pop-up, and had both in my cart at LEGO.com when I got there.

~Jen

I just got a message from LEGO telling me my order was confirmed. And then another
that the items were 'Out of Stock'.

Are we going to get one of these every few weeks again like last time??

~Jen

The "program" page is showing that the fortress is about half gone, but
others all less than that so it shouldn't be reporting out of stock yet.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. The sets are not actually out of stock. It's
just that the pre-orders on LEGO.com seem to automatically trigger the out of
stock default message. It basically says we've got your order, we don't
have your sets, we won't charge you until they ship, etc. etc.

It's just funny because a pre-order is not out of stock it's just not
IN stock yet. Also, for the last round of sets, we got these messages the entire
waiting period. I would've thought they might fix the message for this round.

it redirects you to the lego website with the item in your cart.
This is the link to add the product to your cart.
https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910029

I found it! Use these links to add them to your lego cart direct and bypass bricklinks
server down!
https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910029 = Mountain Fortress
https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910032 = Parisian Street
https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910033 = Old train engine shed
https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910030 = snack shack
https://www.lego.com/cart?product=910031 = general store - wild west

Well done!

Yes, this was my experience also. I was able to click on 2 different sets, ignored
the pop-up, and had both in my cart at LEGO.com when I got there.

I just got a message from LEGO telling me my order was confirmed. And then another
that the items were 'Out of Stock'.

Are we going to get one of these every few weeks again like last time??

Why is it on the list?

My apologies! When I think of this slope, I only think of the variants for the
base.

Now I have to admit that I have no idea which of the base types they are going
to merge the smooth one with.

Does anyone know if this has been answered somewhere?

Thanks,

Hi all, so I have the Rancor Arm Left in my inventory and it has just been purchased,
the system allowed it to go as a large letter, but the piece is too wide for

Also does this sort of thing happen with pieces that don't have dimensions
on the bricklink catalogue?

Yes.

Search My Store Inventory for items with No Packing Dim in Catalog

And what about the 3626 heads?

3048 is not being merged.

You cannot prepare for the 3626 merge. Part 3626 will not exist until after 3626b,
3626c, and 28621 are merged.

  Hello,

I think you are misunderstanding how the variant merge will affect your store
parts. It's okay! I thought the same thing when I first read the email.

First, no lots in your store will be deleted or combined. Every lot you have
now will still be there the day after the merge. You do not need to delete or
upload anything at this point.

What will happen is that the Item Numbers and Item Names on your lots will change.

For example:

You have 5 Blue 3747a, Price .10, lot number 12345678.
You have 2 Blue 3747b, Price .05, lot number 87654321.

After the merge:

You have 5 Blue 3747, Price .10, lot number 12345678.
You have 2 Blue 3747, Price .05, lot number 87654321.

If you want to continue to sell the variants separately, you will need to put
a note in the Comments now so you and your buyers can tell which is which.

If you want to sell them all as one part, after the merge you can choose one
lot to keep, adjust your quantities and prices, and delete the extra lot

Hope this helps!

-3626bp01 & 3626cp01 will be deleted. Where can i upload these items? To 3626ap01?

Hello,

I am pretty sure that your shipping settings are not correct. This is what is
shown to me at checkout.

Do you have the minimum buy set up for your store AND all your shipping methods?

~Jen

In Help, belokan writes:
I don't know where this backup method comes from, it's not in my shop's
settings. I guess it's a BL side method for items that do not qualify for
instant checkout (which is not the case for the items that we are talking about)
Anyway, yes, I will ignore and cancel, but 1) this is irritating and 2) It just
happened with a new user that is very confused about how BL works but does not
want me to cancel the order, and says that the minimum buy is my problem and
didn't show up in cart, so now I have to send a 10 cents part to the US and
fill custom forms etc. which is exactly the reason why I had a minimum buy for
overseas in the first place
Thanks for your help anyway!

In Help, 1001bricks writes:

Already done, I have FR shipping methods, EU shipping methods and Outside of
EU shipping method. I checked them all and everything seems fine, I only have
minimum buy for Outside of EU methods.
Buyers from outside EU should only see the correct methods and therefore have
minimum buy requested. So I don't get how it ends up with an order on backup
method below the minimum!!

Ah but if you've a generic backup method without any limitation, then that's
normal: it's a backup.

You could have backup methods like for EU with a limitation but no shipping rate,
I guess (I'm not sure I didn't try this).

Or simply ignore the problem and kindly cancel the order(s)?

Why is Mack not considered a minifigure? I do not see a difference
between Mack or Lightning other than size and well yes Mack has a trailer but
in the movies he is a character. So why the difference?

Cass T

Is Mack just the Tractor or the Tractor and the Trailer?

I'm going to say the former. That makes the Trailer an accessory that shouldn't
be included??

I appreciate the effort but those pictures taken on a soft surface are not very
helpful to show a very minor (if important part variant). Would be nice to have
decent pictures in the catalog.

I don't have both variants but if nothing shows up. I will make one later
in the month.

I might add those tires large images are very nice. This one not bad either...
if I don't say so myself.

That's very kind of you to offer. I just wanted to directly compare the original
hair with the newer ABS version. I've still a couple more places to check,
but if I come up empty I will let you know!

Thanks,

Hello,

First: I believe you will need to complete the inventories for the minifigs.

Second: Have you checked that all parts are accounted for? The box says 409.
You have 396 + 12 minifig parts for a total of 408.

Third: it's good to use the Note field to communicate with the admin that
your inventory is complete and ready for approval.

Thanks,

Is it an exact match to medium blue?

Yes, I believe so.

If so and if there is really such a clear distinction I think 2 new entries are
needed (with different pb numbers so they don't get merged).

It's not safe to edit the existing entries because I bet there are a lot
of sellers with the wrong stud type so just changing the color on 3626bpb0844
will lead to wrong listings where if people want the edited medium blue version
they will be disappointed.

Thanks as always,
Paul.

p.s.

LEGO Data online and in printed instructions both show:

PCC 6029715 in 850632
PCC 6017976 in 70502, 70504, 70505

Let me know if you need any images and I will prepare them.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, they can. Even written in your terms, you can't expect everyone to be
okay with pet hair drifting into an order. The feedback is truthful. I would
leave a polite and professional response that you are sorry they were disappointed
and that the dog is mentioned in your terms.

It could happen to any of us that sell used LEGO, dog or no. If this is the first
buyer to notice and comment, then I would say you are well ahead of the curve!

I know it's hard to take a neutral you don't feel you deserve, but I
would just let this one go if it was me.

Take care,

I should also mention that they are Medium Blue and Dark Azure. The 'Blue'
in the original item name was most likely meant to be a generic blue.

Having said that these 2 heads will be merged soon unless action is taken to

Create a color chart for direct comparison.

LEGO has been making some parts for decades. Expect color variation instead of
fighting against it. I have found that buyers really appreciate advance notice
of high color variability. Create separate lots if you can or at least warn them
in the comments of your opinion of the color.

The set released on Jan 1; previously, it had an 'inventory pending'
tag, but has been since moved to N/A. Since there are two prominent minifigures
in this set, can I ask when this set can expect to be inventoried? It is the
only Lego Sonic set that that has not been inventoried yet.

Yep, there were 167 sets added on January 1 and the site has worked through more
than 120 of them!

It seems someone may have reserved this set at some point and been unable to
complete the inventory. Any member who has the set in hand may submit it. Let
me know if you are interested and I can walk you through the process.

  Hi,

I was listing a Life on Mars alien minifig for sale in my store and I initially
thought that I had the arms attached incorrectly:

Minifig No: lom008 Name: Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Centauri
*
lom008 (Inv) Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Centauri
Minifigures: Space: Life on Mars

However, looking at the instructions for the sets this figure comes from, it's
the picture that's wrong - the arms are attached upside-down. I can take
a picture and submit one for this minifigure, but there are others with similar
issues. I checked instructions specifically for lom008 and lom005, but not for
the others:

both upside-down:

Minifig No: lom005 Name: Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Arcturus
*
lom005 (Inv) Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Arcturus
Minifigures: Space: Life on Mars

one upside-down, one normal:

Minifig No: lom009 Name: Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Mizar
*
lom009 (Inv) Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Mizar
Minifigures: Space: Life on Mars

one upside-down, one normal:

Minifig No: lom010 Name: Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Pollux
*
lom010 (Inv) Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Pollux
Minifigures: Space: Life on Mars

one upside-down, one normal:

Minifig No: lom011 Name: Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Rigel
*
lom011 (Inv) Life on Mars (LoM) Martian - Rigel
Minifigures: Space: Life on Mars

Wow, that's some awesome attention to detail! I will see if I have any of
these.

It's great to know I am not the only one who tries to get these arms on the
right way in all my builds.

Your point might come across better if your tone was not so mean and antagonistic.
I know that's probably not what you want to hear at this point, but there
it is.

We get it, you know Bionicle. Changes are needed. They are not being made at
your pace. It's annoying.

But, there are real people here you are shouting at and it's not a perfect
system. So, please consider calming down and being patient.

Thanks,
~Jen

In Catalog, NoGravitasHere writes:
It's definitely niche hahaha, but it's the one I fell ass-backwards into.
The not-so-wee-anymore Bionicle community was plagued by misinformation, and
catalogue inaccuracies. My physical health failed on me a few years before Covid
went on its world tour, so I've had a lot of time on my hands, and a passion
for dumb mysteries. That being said, Bionicle's limited catalogue of parts
does make it easier to study in-depth. Even in its current state of, well,
death lol, it's still a significant part of Lego's history. It's
commonly known that Bionicle is one of the themes that helped pull Lego out of
near-bankruptcy, along with Star Wars. Just because it's an out of production
theme, or doesn't have a bajillion parts, it doesn't make categorising
it accurately any less important.

As for someone with the knowledge and willingness to actually do the work - I
offered to, for free. 3 times before today, if I recall? I just wanted to fix
this mess. We're only at this heated point of discussion today because I
was ignored repeatedly, despite using the proper channels. Even worse, the response
I finally did receive today was rude, dismissive, and genuinely horrifying
to me.

As per Randyf's official response: old themes don't matter. Catalogue
accuracy doesn't matter if it's not a current set. BrickLink's interest
is no longer in correctly categorising Lego information.
If you take those
away, what makes BrickLink any better than any other selling platform without
ties to Lego? If the set inventories your listings are uploaded by are wrong,
then... What's the point of BrickLink? Randyf makes this painfully clear
in his last comment about Pearl Dark Grey. They know it's wrong, but they
don't care. It's an old theme, from the past. It's not a priority.
It doesn't matter. I fixed Pearl Dark Grey in an afternoon, because I was
bored. What does that say about their experts?

If accuracy isn't important anymore, then what is? Revenue generation. Money.
Honestly, it breaks my heart. This was such a fantastic tool for Lego fans, without
even considering the buying/selling aspect. The first time I discovered BrickLink,
I was amazed at the wealth of information at my fingertips. Knowing what I do
now though, it's just... Sad. It's a facade. Maybe it was that once,
but it definitely isn't anymore. The upcoming alterations to mould variants
is just further proof of this, and that's coming from someone who initially
agreed with a lot of those specific changes. It's a shame to see how far
it's fallen. I'd rescind my offers of free labour/exchange of information,
but given that they were never appreciated, let alone noticed in the first place...
Oof.

I won't be checking this thread anymore. I have my answer. BrickLink doesn't
care about the past. My beloved Bionicle, which again, helped to save Lego
from bankruptcy
, is irrelevant. It doesn't generate enough money, and
therefore doesn't need accurate categorisation.

I have the answers to the majority of these cataloguing issues either in my head,
in the Guide I wrote for the Bionicle community, or in my Google Drive. I offered
everything I've learned over the past 4 years, literally hundreds of hours
of work. The exact work cited as being too difficult, or too time-intensive,
was handed to you on a platter. BrickLink didn't even lift the lid to have
a looksie.

I leave you with this image: 3 Guurahk staff heads (Part #44817). Each of these
is a legitimate, official Lego colour. BrickLink believes these are all the same
silver. If you don't see that as an issue, just wait until they futz with
a theme you do care about. I'm sure it'll matter then.

Are you suggesting that The Lego Group with a valuation of $12.2 billion isn't
capable of hiring a couple more catalogers or even implementing the information
offered here for free? I'm just curious here since surely they could afford
a handful more employees to get on top of things.

These kind of changes and cataloging require people with expertise in both BrickLink
and LEGO. I would guess there's not a handful of people just hanging around
waiting to be hired.

Plus find those with a deep knowledge of Bionicle!

I know only one - but it's OP who's complaining in Forum

Well, I am a big fan of Bionicle... but working with the LEGO data from this
time and with the dearth of new sets to open is less than fun for me. Plus there
are only 596 Bionicle parts in the Catalog. I would consider that to be a niche
if ever I saw one.

or saying that 'fixing things from the past
is not a priority' when the majority of Lego is in fact, from the past,
is a very very strange stance.

it is a very very small catalogue team, lego is releasing more and more sets
every year. what brings in the most profit for bricklink is getting new inventories
and parts added so new items can be listed and sets parted out. so with the very
small team and an ever-growing workload, they simply cannot prioritize much else.

Personally, I would hope any handful of employees they hire would be to improve
the data base, seller, and catalog tools.

It would also help if Bricklink exposed a stable surrogate key (itemId iirc)
via the API, so that syncing tools can still map parts correctly even when the
design/part/item number is changed.

Why? To facilitate people to sell elsewhere? See, I'm not sure...

I don't feel that supporting the API is just to help sellers sync with the
other marketplaces. There are many tools and software that rely on it and it's
not just sellers who use it.

Also, BrickLink has shown no movement whatsoever on needed seller tools. So the
least they can do is professionally maintain the API for those who have made
these for themselves.

Thanks,
~Jen

6179pb222 and the girl with the pearl earing: 6179pb061. Open to any other suggestions!
Thanks!

There are 4

of them that come in the Ninjago gardens, you can search "ink wash paintings"
and they all come up.

Happy Bricking!

  Hi,
Question - Will this affect draw numbers? When they combine the variants, will
my draw numbers cease to exist? I will have to find all of my variants and pull
them??? I have thousands of drawers. Nightmare! This is a terrible idea.
Thank you,
Jill

I don’t know what a draw number is for you, but they are not combining lots in
stores. If you had both variants, you will just end up with the same two lots
with only your own Comments or Remarks to distinguish them.

~Jen

I have my drawer number in the remarks to locate the item. So I guess I will
be OK with locating the item? I hope!
thank you,
Jill

I hope so too! I made the same assumption when I first read the email from BL,
so I am guessing we are not alone.

I do not look forward to fixing the mess this is going to create in my store
inventory.

Thanks,
~Jen
