| BrickLink should setup a system where a seller would need to have a credit card
to sell on BL, and BL charges the seller a small amount (say $5) to setup the
store, and activate it, and verify the seller's information that is on BL against
the credit card.
The $5 would offset any costs associated with checking names/addresses. Once
BL has a card # and a charge on it, they can verify the name and address to the
card, and they know that they are dealing with a real person, at a real address.
Or, maybe make this an option, and have a store icon that shows that the seller
is verified.
Or, perhaps make this a requirement only if the seller wishes to sell high value
products, or lots of items valued at a high value.
I would gladly do this for my store, to show that I'm legit and serious about
selling.

Resistance is futile.

| Would be nice to have the ability to make one or more wanted lists "public" so
that if a link was provided to the list other folks could see the list. This
would work similar to Amazon.com wish list in that others can see but not edit
the list.
In my mind, this would be a check box on the wanted list settings (and creation)
screen. Default would be unchecked (meaning private).
[X] Public List
It would be useful in facilitating purchases for gifts (like little Tommy wants
a bunch of batman minifigs so he adds it to his wish list so grandma can buy
one for him by viewing his list), and for facilitating trading because people
can see what the seller would like as payment for the trade items.
Everything else about the wanted list would work the same as it does now - except
that if viewing by someone other then the owner there would be no editing fields
available.

A forum where you cannot be banned. You can speak your mind, argue like an idiot,
mock people, attack people at will, be a jerk, be a jack wagon, or whatever else
you wish.
THIS WOULD BE AN OPT IN ONLY with an adult warning on it!
Think it would be fun.
This forum would NOT be listed on the forum post stats! And it would be a no
man's land for banned and unbanned people alike.
If it gets out of hand NO SUPPORT AT ALL BY MODS/ADMIN/G-D.
Since it would be an opt in ONLY, just do not go there if you do not wish to
be offended!
Great idea.
I would like to see it called THE WILD, WILD FORUM (with a cowboy and Indian
as the icon's for it).

| I propose that the Forum rules that outlaw discussion of Religion or Politics
should be lifted in times of
"Extreme discourse".
We could have a pre-set background colour change as the discourse becomes more
extreme.
The Green background could turn to Yellow if discussions are ongoing about items
for sale --
Chrome bricks, custom parts etc.
The background would then turn to RED if discussions are ongoing about individuals
and ethics/morality.
When the Yellow background is up - members would be encouraged to post OFF TOPIC
items, jokes, links to cute videos etc.
When the RED background is up - free for all -- anything to change the subject
-- Dirty Jokes, links to "other" videos, Religion and Politics discussion --
EVEN posts to e-bay LINKS selling LEGO instead of just posting all the info necessary
to see it without a simple one click solution !!!!

Would committees be a good thing for BL?
I suggest a committee of 3 people for Listing violations: Have the problem reports
sent to 3 members (maybe even conceal the store/user name) and let them vote.
2 votes and the listing gets removed.
I'm sure we would be able to find members for a committee of 3 or maybe 5 very
quickly and that decisions on listings would be decided very quickly.
Obviously Admin and/or the CO would be able to appoint/remove those committee
members and Admin and maybe the CO would also be able to overrule them.

|
| Ok, I have two different ideas to solve the problems with wanted lists timing
out. Here is solution one, solution two will follow shortly, please just vote
on the one you think might be the best way to address this.
So, when a seller uploads a large number of lots, and then attempts to notify,
the system can time-out due to too many emails being sent. When a seller tries
to send the notifications, a certain number are sent, and then the system stops
them from being sent. If the seller tries again, the same number of notifications
are sent, and then the system stops them at about the same point. This appears
to the buyers that have received multible emails from said seller, that the seller
is trying to spam them, when in fact they are just trying to send out notifications
once. Here is the real problem, this seller can no longer send out correct notifications,
because the original notifications remain in the system as "unsent". If they
add more lots, and try again, it repeats the cycle shown above, sending the same
people notifications.
Please allow sellers to "clear notifications", so that if they have too many
lots to notify, they can start over, and continue to add notifications at a later
date, only for new lots.
Again, please check my other suggestion, and vote on the best idea to solve the
problem.
Thanks so much,

Please add a "reccommended maximum lot addition" that will fall within the limitations
of the Bricklink system, to the help section on mass uploads. This would require
the help of some sellers, perhaps keeping track of some uploads, and notifications.
the info could be used to come up with a realistic number of lots that most likely
would not time out.
Again, please check my other suggestion, and vote on the best idea to solve the

Put a limit on the number of transactions allowed for new sellers.

That would limit the damage done by a new seller.

Here's what it could look like.

| I do know 'pending items' are pending for a reason: no one offically has them
yet, Lego has not released them for sale or display. However, I'm assuming the
people who add certain 'pending items' to the catalog have inside info that the
general population doesn't have. Please let me know if I am wrong, but items
that are currently pending have a high probably of officially being released?
My suggestion would allow items pending on Bricklink (i.e. soon-to-be-released
sets) to be added to an individual's wanted list now. That way someone could
be notified as soon as someone else on Bricklink is either selling the set or
inventorying it.
Example: I'm very interested in set 8110-1 Unimog U400. When will it officially
come out? Either I have no general idea, or I've missed a thread somewhere giving
these details. Or maybe I suck at Online researching. What better, and more lazy,
idea than to let Bricklink's wanted list notifications send me a message?
Just throwing another suggestion on the table for ya'! Thanks for reading,

I would like to be able to flag any order, regardless of date to my action items
page. So the page might read.
1 order not invoiced.
2 orders not shipped
2 orders flagged
This feature would help me out a lot. If I have a buyer that hasn't paid, and
I need to file a npb I can flag that order. If I have a buyer who asked where
their package is, and I want to keep an eye on the order I can flag it. If I've
made special arrangements with a buyer on pay or something else, I can flag that
order. Basically anything that might need my attention today or two weeks from
now can get flagged.
Anyone else like this idea? Please vote yes.

| When I send an email through BrickLink's system, I would like for the responder
to be able to reply ONLY through BL, and not to my email address.
We have an address we use strictly for BL business and therefore, rarely check
it because we read our messages on BL. On occasion, we miss an email from someone
because they hit reply from their inbox instead of replying through BL's system.
This also prevents a record of the correspondence on the order transaction details.
(We REALLY like that feature, BTW!)
Could this be accomplished by not including the sender's email address on correspondence
(when they receive it in their email inbox instead of reading it through BL)?
Instead could there be a link in the message with something like 'click here
to reply to this message' that would direct them back to BL?

| I suggest the system does not allow ANY FB to be left by buyer or seller once
a NSS or NPB is filed. Only once the NSS or NPB is completed, or after 1 month,
whatever comes first, FB can be left.
This will prevent a buyer from leaving a retaliatory FB after filing of NPB while
it is still pending, or a seller from retaliating with a neg FB once NSS is filed.
All existing rules regarding FB remain in place.

| Here's my first suggestion, and I'd like it do do this, but if not, I'll just
put it somewhere on my splash page.
When, in someone's store, you click on (Show all) for minifigures, it would be
nice if something would say that the seller could ship them two different ways,
and they could choose which way, but would need to send the seller a message
stating the way the buyer would like it.
or, if you clicked on (Show all) for sets, if would notify you that the seller
could ship the box flat if you wanted to on the used sets with box, if you notified
the seller.
The seller could change the message in the box to go with what he or she would
want it to say.

|
| This is an alternate suggestion to bringing back the lot history, which seems
like its not going to happen (http://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=96834).
Hopefully this makes sense - please ask if I need to clarify.
One of the functions I used the lot history for was to find other orders for
the same part with only two mouse clicks away from looking at an order detail
screen. (In other words, when I'm having a problem filling an order). Well
that function already exists in alternate form in the Search Orders function.
What I'm proposing is an OPTIONAL link that sellers could turn on or off for
their Order Detail settings as desired (like checkboxes, inventory remaining,
etc.). This would just be something like a magnifying glass icon that would
appear on each order detail row. Clicking on the icon would take the user to
the Orders Search Results screen with the search results matching the same item
(Item Number, Type, Color, Condition).
This would make the search results only one mouse click away from the order detail.
The advantage of this suggestion for Admin is that he doesn't need to create
any new pages - just a link from one existing page to another existing page.
The value to sellers focuses on when someone buys out an entire lot, but the
seller has multiple orders still in process of being filled. Its a quick way
to ensure that packing the entire lot away in an order isn't going to short another
order that includes a couple of those pieces.
Thanks. -Jason

|
| Would it be possible to have the catalog images and price/quantity information
closer together when browsing a seller's store? Currently, while browsing items
for sale in a BL shop, the catalog images and price/quantity info are almost
one entire screen apart. The images are on the left side of the screen and the
price/quantity is on the edge of the right side of the screen. To see what I
mean, take a look at my own shop and click on the link for "show all items":
http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=fosterbengoshi
When scrolling through that screen, I cannot easily see the images and prices
without constantly looking left and right, left and right, over and over again.
Maybe I have tunnel vision or too large a monitor, but I could shop and scroll
through listings 2-3 times faster if I could see the images and prices next to
each other.
Of course, some people are comfortable with the way things are now, so please
make this an OPTION for buyers if at all possible. Thanks in advance.

| Similar in some ways to this
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=476778
thanks for the inspiration...
but a bit more refined.
Typically quite afew sellers are kind enough to offer discounts to forum readers
or mailing list subscribers etc etc.
I suggest an option to display a small box during the checkout process where
the buyer enters a code that automatically discounts from the order.
A bit like the tv ads where you get X% off a product by saying a particular word
when you call or by entering a discount code at checkout thats given out in the
advert.
Coding from the sellers store settings could be quite similar to creating a coupon,
but instead of entering a members username the seller needs to enter the code.
I suggest a limit of 3 codes can be used at any one time, leaving enough room
to offer different groups different discounts (forum readers, mailing list subscribers,
convention attendees, existing customers etc etc)
One key advantage is there is no risk of the seller forgetting to apply a discount
or applying the wrong discount.
Another is that some sellers send coupons out to people who have placed orders
with them, with this, they need only mention a code in shipping notice or better
yet have it printed on a little business card to send in orders for a more personal
touch.
thanks for considering

Basically a coupon that shows up to everyone upon checkout. This way if you want

|
| When buying individual bricks, as opposed to sets, and almost certainly also
when selling individual bricks, it would be much more convenient to work with
cents instead of dollars.
Many individual bricks are sold for prices like $0.02 or $0.03. All those zeroes!
Even worse, sometimes bricks are sold cheap, for like $0.004, which at-a-glance
is non-trivial to distinguish from $0.04.
Even if cents (dollar-cents and euro-cents) are implemented as currency that
can be chosen in the interface (for buyers, and for sellers), there will still
be decimals used, for instance som bricks sell for $0.015 which is the same as
1.5 cents. But it'll stil be easier for those of us who buy indvidual bricks
and have no interest in sets.

| I suggest that the Show Supressed link in the wanted list NOT go to the items
for sale list but instead just show the full list in the same format as formatted

The reason is that the For Sale list shows way to much information especially
if you are just looking for the next one down the list in a certain country or
are looking to find out how a certain store compares to others on a certain part.
On the fore sale list you would have to go back and forth through several pages

| BrickLink policy appears to be that it will almost always automatically deny
and remove an NPB if the buyer has either filed or completed a PayPal reversal
or chargeback. This does not seem fair in many cases, especially if the PayPal
claim is filed only a few days after shipping (as we have seen several times
over the past few days).
Please change this policy to be more flexible and fair. Thus, I suggest that
an NPB filed after the buyer does a PayPal claim should NOT be denied or removed
by BrickLink if ALL of the following facts exist:
1. The seller can provide proof of shipping,
2. The seller's BrickLink shop terms and/or invoice clearly state that uninsured
orders are shipped at the buyer's risk, AND
3. When filing the NPB, the seller mentions the PayPal claim and their above
terms(1).
Additional facts which should also be considered are:
a. the reputation and feedback of the seller and buyer;
b. whether either the seller or buyer has filed or has had filed against it
an unusual number of PayPal claims; and
c. whether the buyer is also a BrickLink seller AND has terms in their own shop
disclaiming liability for uninsured orders.
I think everyone here will agree that when a buyer takes back their PayPal payment,
the seller has not been paid for the order. It is non-payment the same way a
bounced check would be non-payment.
Furthermore, BrickLink does not require the seller to show proof of delivery
to defeat an NSS, so why should BL require sellers to prove delivery to complete
an NPB (which is what they must do to defeat the PayPal claim)?
As for PayPal's Buyer Protection Policy, that is a separate matter between the
seller, buyer and PayPal. BrickLink is not part of that matter, no more than
BL is a part of enforcing PayPal's prohibition against charging PayPal fees.
PayPal's terms do NOT say anywhere that the buyer does not have to pay the seller;
only that the payment will not be processed via PayPal. Legally and contractually,
the buyer is still bound to pay. Only the manner of payment has changed.
All we want is a little more flexibility and fairness to prevent the abuses and
double whammies good sellers have been getting recently over this.

(1) In other words, Admin should not have to go looking for this or wait for
the seller's reply to the buyer's reply. The seller needs to make their case
for the NPB from the very beginning.

| I suggest being able to have an option to have a superlot discount while retaining
the ability to sell the item individually..
IE sell the superlot at a 25% discount but it would automatically break it up
if some one were to buy a single item of the super lot
Example.. Minifigure series 2 set linked in a superlot cannot be sold separate
of that superlot unless it is broken up by the store.. however, if the store
had an option to have a superlot discount.. they could have all of the items
listed as a superlot for a %off and then the individual items listed as well..
without having to : #1 - lock up a set in a superlot, #2 go in and dissolve a
super lot manually, #3 Have duplicate listing for parts in or out of a super
lot...
I guess you could also call this linked discounting in that it would link several
parts together into a discounted group.
When one is sold out of the link you could have an option to retain discount
for the remaining items or have all items return to normal pricing.

|
| Would it be possible to tweak the search results page to allow more searching
within the results? BrickLink already allows us to tweak those results by new/used,
location, min/max quantities, and to exclude superlots and incomplete sets. But
I was thinking more, such as being able to exlude more things and/or doing companion
searching for other parts available from sellers who also have the first part.
For example, run a search for 2x4 bricks (part number 3001) and you get 8100
lots. Let's say you are looking for bulk (new or used) in any color with a minimum
quantity of 100 from sellers in North America. That brings the number of lots
down to 272. But let's say you don't want any yellowed or worn parts, or yucky
lime colored bricks. It would be helpful to have the ability to EXCLUDE certain
lots from within these results - such as excluding lots with the word "yellowed"
in the comments or all lime colored bricks. Now let's say you also want to buy
2x2 and 2x3 bricks as well. It would be very helpful to search further within
the 2x4 results to find sellers who ALSO have 2x2 and 2x3 bricks in bulk.
Another example would be looking for bulk quantities of 2x4 bricks in white,
green and brown from the same seller without having to do separate searches or
dropping your search to create a wanted list.
I know some of this can be done by creating a wanted list. But I find making
wanted lists a bit cumbersome. It would be quicker and easier, and encourage
more spur-of-the moment searches and sales, if you could just tweak individual
search results to find exactly what you want without having to go outside of
those results to do something many members may not know how to do.

| When searching for assemblies, eg.:

I would like to see all fitting parts with images on one page rather then clicking
through all listings.
This Wheel fits with the following Tire & Tread(s):
* Part 59895 Tire 13mm D. x 4mm
* Part 4084 Tire Offset Tread Medium
* Part 3641 Tire Offset Tread Small
* Part 7 Tire Smooth Small Single

| The current store visits counter is nice, but I would really like a counter that
displays how many active shoppers are in any certain store. Much like the one
on the BL homepage and was previously shown at the top right of most BL pages
under the login info.
The intent of this feature would be to help see if a sale, promotion, etc. is
driving people into a store. The current counter only shows hits which can be
generated multiple times by the same person in many ways, thus making it quite
unreliable for stats use. Alternately a referral link with stats that can be
looked up would work, but the active user counter would still be a nice addition.
Thanks for the consideration!

| Please consider adding show only items in my country or select countries to My
Search Settings: Site-Wide Options. I realize there is a selection option in
Search Within Results, but it must be selected each time. For the most part,
I shop in the USA and this would make for faster viewing.

| Given the growing trend (especially with collectible minifigs) to have the "lowest
price" but only in a super-lot, I think it would be very helpful for sellers
to have an "Exclude Super Lots" link on the Price Guide screen.
This filter could work similar to the include/exclude links for complete sets
and not display the price guide information for super lots (when the exclude
super-lots link is clicked)
-OR-
The filter could work similar to the group by currency link and display the price
guide information for super-lots above or below the price guide information for
those that are not in super-lots.

| I would like to see an update to the famed TOS.
This would include NO POSTING of persons handles in Subject headings on the forum.
I consider this to be personal information.
And I have taken offense at the use of it to single out a certain user (not me
by the way) on this forum for public attack.
This buyer is in good standing, and places large orders with stores on this site.
I agree that posting about 'flame topics' gets you more business (as presented
by our new #1 poster of the month).
But in that ruining a person's reputation by doing this practice is wrong.
Using something like "Buyer wants customs form fraud" works just as well, and
does not point a spotlight at a buyer.
In this case, customer is NOT ALWAYS RIGHT, but does he deserve to be drawn and
quartered in public for making a mistake?
Now discussion of a "wrong" matter in the forum is well documented, and I can
list many positive outcomes to posting a person's handle AFTER a NPB or NSS is
complete.
But to attack a person before any BL Admin process can take place, again in my
opinion, is just plain baiting.
I am sure I will have person's in this forum now attack my position by doing
personal attacks on me.
So I am going to ignore this post so I do not head down that path again today.
Have a great day, and I look forward to your business.

| Showed everything the store had that was at the cheapest price on Bricklink.
When I am in gathering mode, this would be useful, and save me the time it takes
to go through my cart comparing each item to other stores.
I usually land in a store because it has the single item I was initially after
at the best price/qty.
But then I start seeing what else I might be able to use from the store.
Then I go compare everything I placed in my cart to other listings for the same
item.
This step could be eliminated if I can immediately see that this store has the
item at the lowest price.
I realize that anything that drives prices down, or pushes sales to the lower
priced items, is not necessarily of benefit to bricklink.
I am not sure I would implement this if I owned the site, as I see more benefit
to me as a buyer than to the site profits.
But maybe it would benefit the site.
This might get me to purchase stuff I might otherwise pass up, just because I
can immediately see that it is the best deal on the site.
Percent off sales have no effect on my deciding something is a good deal. I
do not care what the initial price was, I only care what the current price is,
and how that compares to other current prices and prices I might expect to see
in future listings (which is where price history effects my thinking).
(I am no good at debate, as I make an argument I start to see the merits of both
sides of the argument, and end up less sure than when I started debating. For
the same reason I would never make a good politician.)

| I was told nicely to change our name when some took offense to it.
I did.
It took a month and our offending name is still there under our current name.
I would like ask that if this occurs that an email be sent to the person, then
the name be changed without the offending name being put under the (XXXXXX) name.
Once we found out that the word "pimp" offended, I wanted to change it, but it
took my 30 days.
We modeled it under the "Pimp my ride" program. Adult program=adult name.
A poster on here just posted on the forums. I am sure some will be upset with
his colorful choice of names.
Thank you for your consideration.

|
| I suggest that where possible members be proactive and repair any problems they
find with this website themselves, using Greasemonkey. Greasemonkey is a Mozilla
Firefox extension that allows users to install scripts that make on-the-fly changes
to HTML web page content - details at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greasemonkey
Most Greasemonkey scripts can also be used within the Chrome browser. I'm
believe there is some kind of IE support.
The upside of fixing the problem yourselves is that we're not reliant on Admin
finding the time and the inclination to fix something you find annoying. It
also gives Admin a clear understanding of a suggestion - he can see it working
for himself, look at the number of people using the script and judge if that
seems to be a good idea. There's also a remote chance that the JavaScript client-side
implementation will inform any server-side re-implementation.
If Admin wants to encourage/facilitate this kind of activity, more extensive
use of the HTML id tag and/or unique HTML name tags would be helpful.
Standards:
I suggest that once an improvement has been posted in the Suggestions topic,
a reply be posted to the suggestion - but with the topic changed to Related Software
to make finding these posts easy. That reply should link to the script and give
any necessary instructions for use.
The Greasemonkey script should be posted to UserScripts.org, and tagged with
"bricklink" and "lego". The script should use the same @namespace ("bricklink")
and @icon (located at http://www.sculpturesupplies.com.au/GMBL.png) as other
bricklink scripts, making it obvious in the Tools | Add-ons dialog which scripts
are for Bricklink. The script should be named GMBL_whatever.user.js (Greasemonkey
Bricklink, or gimble) so that in a large directory all scripts are grouped together.
Scripts should be added as a link to "Inventory Software" http://www.bricklink.com/links.asp?catID=9
pending a more appropriate grouping.

| So, I had parts to a Geonosian droid, except for an arm and the plate.
I purchased both of those pieces, and I no longer need them. I was just looking
in my wanted list today, and that plate and arm are still there! I do not need
them
anymore, but they are still there!
Is this maybe an error? I did not buy the parts through the actual link on my
list,
just found them in stores. But I would still think that it would auto-correct
itself...
