It is discolored from age. I think someone calls it "brittle blue". I have
seen this in my inventory, brand new blue bricks turned yellowish, inside and
out. I donate them to schools. Sometimes these blue parts will crack easily,
especially minifig torsos. It's not all blue parts, so some blue parts are
made with a different recipe?
Someone else talked recently that he opened a MIB set from the '90s had a
lot of blue pieces discolored.
It's a known issue, but I'm not sure if anyone knows why.

Put the set number into the list inventory button and see if there are two different
blues listed. What set is it?

The hinge brick is definitely blue - it only comes in one shade of blue (if I've
selcted the right product from the catalogue), so that's got to be it. The
1x3 brick just looks like dark blue to me.
TBF the blue hing brick does look darker than normal blue, but that could be
due to bad light, camera etc.
Do you have any normal blue or dark blue bricks to compare these to?

| Ah, I didn't read properly Yes, that should already cause a whole lot
less burden.
Good thing that at least the link to the part out value result page is directly
accessible and editable without having to go through the "get value" button.
That way, at least some of us that have some programming or perhaps Excel or
other skills are able to save a bunch of clicks. Seller tools aren't coming
to it seems we all have to make our own But yes, I think I agree this would
be a good feature.

| In this suggestion I'm suggesting a simple link at each set's page (probably
the better function would be a button). Clicking on it would provide the same
function as navigating through Market Price Guide entering the set's
number, then clicking "Get Value". It doesn't need to be information saved
on the page, but if I'm looking at a set on BL and wondering what its part
out value is, I should be able to find out quicker than taking the above steps.

a few annoying clicks to obtain a set's part out value after browsing it

I'm not an expert but I think this would be too heavy for the website. Even
asking 1 part out value the system needs to process all priceguide data of all
parts in that set. If a totally random user would be browsing through 10 sets,
that whole process has to happen 10 times. It's only useful for sellers and
only at those moments that they want to purchase something, so I think it would
be an overkill of constant processing on the server for a small advantage.

Comments from Submitter:
The information comes from the opening of a "mint-in-box" unopened set (Samsonite). I opened the set to verify the pieces. I also have info on what "lego logo's" are on the studs, to ensure era-specific correctness if interested.

The only color that I could see a chance of getting added would be something
akin to "Metallic Gold" or "Metallic Silver" to separate surface-coated copper
parts from copper-color molded parts. Beyond that, it would be highly unlikely
to get any consensus to make further changes.
Cheers,

| BrickLink's copper combines several different copper-like colors.
It combines LEGO colors 139 Copper, 189 Reddish Gold, 176 Red Flip/Flop (for Bionicle mask 32573 and 32572), 178 Yellow Flip/Flop (for Bionicle Kanohi mask), 346 Copper Metallic, 300 Copper, Drum Lacquered matte copper surface coating, 334 Copper ink (another surface coating).
|
Wow. 🤯 Why??
Is there an actual reason for this (e.g. parts that overlap between LEGO’s colours,
natural colour-variations that make identification difficult, etc), or is it
just the product of inertia?
|
When parts are released in a color that is not (yet) included in the Bricklink
catalog, there are two options:
- Add the new color,
- Group the color with an existing color
For all copper colors (both plastic colors and surface coatings), the second
option was chosen even though the appearance of the part can be very different.
This is supposed to make it easier for buyers and sellers. Many sellers will
not be able to accurately identify these colors because they are not used often
enough. These 7 colors were used for less than 50 parts in our catalog.
I have discussed copper with Admins in the past, I think it is time for an update

I didn't notice until I was taking a pic for the catalog and then realized I'd just been down this road in another set.

I just took this set apart over the weekend for the first time since it was built
from MISB.
You made me look, and I have 30389c also.
