| Hi again all,
I was recently at my local Bricks and Minifigs when I pulled two 2x4 plates in
light gray from the bulk parts bin. The strange thing is, these have a different
font on the studs and are the patent pending versions as it says so on the bottom.
Can someone tell me what era these are from and what sets they came in?
Also, sorry for the really crappy photo.

| Hi all,
I am in the process of constructing older space sets and just in general Lego
from the 80s-90s. It would be really helpful if someone could tell me what year
Lego changed the underside of the plates to have the little circles in between
the studs not filled in. Specifically, I'd like to know when they did so
for part #4865 Panel 1x2x1 https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=6812-1
as I am trying to complete the Grid Trekkor and I care about having the specific
pieces from the era. Please message if you have any info, thanks.

after re-reading the post, i have just now realized that auto correct has been
putting Fiancé instead of fiancée when i told my family about my fiancée, now

When I try to use rebrickable to buy the parts that were updated on the 1st they
can no longer be found for sale on bricklink via rebrickable. I would think the
same result will happen when trying to buy the part list for a MOC that includes
affected parts.
I apologize if this has already been asked or addressed but I have not been able
to find it. The lengthy threads across multiple posts are not easy to navigate
or follow for those that do not spend time in the forums on a regular basis.

and all the other sites, software apps and tools will have to figure out how

| When listing a part to sell, there should an additional status of "damaged."
"New" is obvious, but "Used" covers a whole lot of ground. Relying
on comments for the part condition is going to lead to a bad experience for both
selling and buying parties, especially when I have to go multiple layers down
in the rulebook to find the statement expectation. And it doesn't say that
comments are "required," it says that comments "'should'
be noted in the item description." Again, opportunity for a bad experience.
Is "should" being used as an expectation or requirement??
This could also be resolved with the addition of a "damaged" status.
The primary win would be a damaged part labeled as "used" would be clearly
in the buyers protection. As a seller, I would argue if I have a damaged part
listed as "used," I am not in the wrong for missing a comment as there
is no clear requirement. But if I had a "damaged" status, all is clear.

| Hello
so I made an order where I requested an invoice, go the invoice now trying to
pay on site with stripe debit card payment, but when I click the pay button on
both the orders page and order details page, it goes from blue to grey and nothing
happens. I assume stipe is supposed to pop up but it doesn't. I have tried
a different browser and make sure I have no extensions enabled... any other ideas
why this is happening?

I think that depends on which age you start. No point in waiting until a child
is 3 years old, but you also don't want them eating all the smallest parts.

Looking beyond the metric that is the possible "eating" of that which
I child engages in, it's the simplicity of DUPLO that would not have
held his attention for very long.
Never factored the devouring of his toys. Might have had he done so with other
things? I don't know, I've heard it's a concern.

I think we can probably separate them in the inventories. But if a seller finds

I'd love to get the history correct and have all the accurate information
in the catalog, but I think that there are to many challenges to make this work

The part in that photo is 13 Red Orange. The black-eyed variant was retired between
1990 and 1991. 38 Dark Orange was introduced in 1994.
The question remains: What color is the cow in set 2445? No idea. However, if
you look closely enough, you'll notice that the cow is the white-eyed variant.
The horse also appears to be the same post-1990 version. This one is tough, as
1994 was a transition year from old 70s colors to new 90s colors, and 13 Red
Orange remained on the palette until 2001.
This set is extremely difficult to find new.

I think that the difference between 22 and 221 will be extremely difficult for
most sellers. Especially for the parts that were made during the transition period
that appear in both versions.

296 will be a challenge, but considering the amount of questions on the forum
and the increasing interest in Bionicle, I think that BrickLink should separate
them. I think it will increase catalog accuracy and reduce confusion. It might
take a lot of comparison photos though...

| I just got my son this set and I think it one of the best LEGO spaceships I’ve
seen in a long time, especially at a $20 price point. I’ve seen a few re-skins
of this set in Blacktron I, Futuron, and Space Police II liveries, but I haven’t
yet seen a classic space version. To that end, I made my own to show him what
things looked like back in Dad’s day. Now we have matching ships to go exploring.

I didn’t try but I know that editing StudioPartDefinition2.txt could work. It
would also break at the next update. (Updates are binary diffs, they corrupt

Hello,
First: I believe you will need to complete the inventories for the minifigs.
Second: Have you checked that all parts are accounted for? The box says 409.
You have 396 + 12 minifig parts for a total of 408.
Third: it's good to use the Note field to communicate with the admin that
your inventory is complete and ready for approval.

Nope. That is a complete non-starter, unfortunately. BrickLink does not recognize
variations of colors or reformulations.

A decision was never reached on those, but my guess at this point would be that
they would be grandfathered in. I really don't know, though, until it is
discussed at some point again.

I would say it has a better chance than 22 which will almost surely never be
added. I just know that 296 is going to be a very hard sell with the direction

The next one we are going to get moving on is Rose. I just need to find some
time to contact you all and discuss some things that I would then bring back
to the team for further discussion. In this case, the addition has already been
agreed to, but I need to have a plan of action in place along with all of the
required data and images ready to go.

No, it’s not “normal.” But, unfortunately, it’s usual.
The database changelog should be automatically checked every day/week/whatever
and should automatically trigger a parts update for Studio.
Even if they don’t want to let a parts update go without checking (and I don’t
see why because they sure let small errors go through, like, every time), they
knew the change was coming, they knew the date.
It’s not obscure parts that were changed. It’s hard to find a set or MOC without
any 1x1, 1x2, or 2x2 tile in it.

Nice set of scales. I didn't see any spec sheets or pricing information on
that site though. Unless there's some distributor that sells them through
retail stores where I live, I might have to contact them manually.
Specifications are always nice to have, doesn't matter what it is, accuracy
has always been important to me.

| Hey there,
im just done.
Ive been trying to connect Studio with my Bricklink Account but i constantly
get the Error "Device Blocked".
It worked fine a month ago. Now i cant upload my builds and or upload the parts
list.
I updated and reinstalled it a few times now.
The Bricklink Support doesnt respond and i can find no one else with the same
error message.
Can anyone of you help me?

Hi,
There’s a black icon with Programs written under in the toolbar that’s on most
pages. If you click on it, you arrive to the URL you found with Google.
If you hover over it, there’s a menu to go to more specific areas of the program(s).
The submission for BDPS 4 ended. And the ‘crowdfunding’ for BDPS1 hasn’t started
yet. So I guess there’s no real reason to have a link in the banner until it
really starts.
Once on the aforementioned page, you can click Series 1, 2… to see the models
in each of that series.
The main page shows the 5 sets that will be in crowdfunding in 3 days.
Crowdfunding (= pre-ordering) is the only way to get one of these sets. They
will be produced and shipped by LEGO but they won’t be available for sale on
the LEGO site. Only here, only through the crowdfunding (well, or second market
in several months).
There’s more info in the specific pages and in the FAQ.

The current problems in Studio all stems from BL forgetting everything about
the -b parts.
That means there’s no price & no colour availability.
That, in turn, means that if you’re filtering parts by colours, poof, the -b
parts don’t show… but the -a can.
Also, you can’t directly upload to a Wanted List, and all the older parts lists
have to be edited (even if through BrickStore).

What I say is that it's an old problem who could've been corrected 10
years ago, but not.

I have a sealed set sitting in my collection at the moment. If you require a
weight taken from a recently purchased sealed set, I might be able to buy a weight
scale and submit the weight for it via the add/change system.
I'd only do that though if asked to do so. I do need a new weighing scale
anyway, as the current scale I had been using had alkaline batteries in it which
leaked all over the internal circuits and rendered the scale inoperable.

Thank you for the offer, but I would never make anyone buy a scale to weigh one
set for the catalog. Set weights and box dimensions are actually two sets of
data that come relatively quickly without anyone needing to ask for it. We should
have a new weight very soon, so please do not go out of your way to do this.

These colors are complicated, especially because of the reformulations, different
materials and that fact that we did not have ANY official information before
2010.
I hope you gained some understanding about the catalog history here. People did
their best, with the knowledge they had. In addition, the catalog has to keep
a delicate balance between for example the available information, historical
accuracy, the needs of sellers, buyers and several different types of collectors
and specialists and the time available for the volunteers.

- collect reliable information and make that available
- take photos comparing the different versions. We could try to get them into
the catalog as alternate images (if the catalog admins agree).
- Add catalog notes to the parts (if the catalog admins agree).

recognised and (total guess on my part) would be pretty easy to add to the catalogue

First off, 131 'v2' leaked into the early Hero Factory stuff before the
big switcheroo to 315. Here's a Surge weapon in both colours, which I'm
guessing could just be added as an alternate part?

If you are certain, you can submit a catalog or inventory change request. Volunteers
will look at this, so it can take some time before they get to it. Depending
on their workload it can take weeks, but they will get to it. Note that requests
can be denied if there is insufficient proof, keeping the catalog reliable is
a huge challenge so the admins can be very strict about proposed changes. They
catch a lot or errors and mistakes this way.
Note that there are different teams of volunteers for the Catalog items and the
Inventories.
Please read the help files, to meet the catalog requirements and to make things
easier for the volunteers.

The set released on Jan 1; previously, it had an 'inventory pending'
tag, but has been since moved to N/A. Since there are two prominent minifigures
in this set, can I ask when this set can expect to be inventoried? It is the

Yep, there were 167 sets added on January 1 and the site has worked through more
than 120 of them!

Nope. That is a complete non-starter, unfortunately. BrickLink does not recognize
variations of colors or reformulations.

Yes, that is an easy thing to solve. We usually just need proof that both colors
were used for a part to make that happen, unless it is a part that was used across
multiple sets. Then we need proof that the color actually appeared in a given
set and not just speculation. This is usually accomplished by looking for sources
online showing original sets being opened or buying and looking into a new set.
Used sources are almost completely disregarded these days unless there is no
other way.

I might do something wrong but I can't see what exactly... When I fill out
everything in the "Become a seller" form, the "upgrade to seller"
button remains greyed out. Address, delivery regions, name of the store, currency,
the little box to approve the conditions, everything is filled out so I'm
clueless about what's preventing me from going further...
I have been on Bricklink since end of 2023, I have received 5 praises.
Any help on this would be much appreciated!

I should also mention that they are Medium Blue and Dark Azure. The 'Blue'
in the original item name was most likely meant to be a generic blue.

The one from the normal sets is definitely Blue printed over White. I have a
number of them, and none of them remotely approach Dark Azure in color.

and crazy colors in the Friends sets. We need more women in this hobby, as, statistically/scientifically,
they have a better color perception/resolution then men. What do you mean it's
Onyx? It looks plain black to me.

First: I believe you will need to complete the inventories for the minifigs.
Second: Have you checked that all parts are accounted for? The box says 409.
You have 396 + 12 minifig parts for a total of 408.
Third: it's good to use the Note field to communicate with the admin that
your inventory is complete and ready for approval.

Yes, I believe so.

If so and if there is really such a clear distinction I think 2 new entries are
needed (with different pb numbers so they don't get merged).
It's not safe to edit the existing entries because I bet there are a lot
of sellers with the wrong stud type so just changing the color on 3626bpb0844
will lead to wrong listings where if people want the edited medium blue version
they will be disappointed.

For what it's worth, I find listing Cool Silver parts as "Pearl Very
Light Gray" is beneficial until the time when the color is properly recognized
on the site. Makes them far easier to find and buy
|
I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, so I will simply state for the
record here that adding Cool Silver to the site is going to be a very hard sell
for a number of reasons that I won't get into right now. I think the Pearl
Dark Grays have a better chance at getting sorted out than getting Cool Silver
recognized, so that should tell you something.

We probably all started like NoGravitasHere. Noticing a problem and trying to
figure it out.
I have no doubt that NoGravitasHere wil be a better expert on Cool Silver than
I am soon. Once everything is identified properly, he has a much better set of
data than I have.
I hope NoGravitasHere and here4bricks614 can compare notes. That could help to
sort out things here, when the time comes to start that project.

131 was reformulated. That's what I was missing. I never found anything to
suggest they changed it so significantly, but never gave it a new classification.
It's like the Dark Red change, but even more extreme. I knew there was precedent
for major reformulation within official designations, but I didn't know it
got this wild!
WOLKsite and WoutR, I cannot thank you two enough. YThis has been a thorn in
my side for years, and I can finally pull it out! I now have a pile of listing
to reclassify as 131 Original and/or 131 Reformulation, a guide to rework, and
a pile of silver misinformation I've published that needs retconning.

You have now been hit by two of the people that have become major resources for
me over the course of my role here. Along with a couple of other amazing AFOLs
(h/t Rylie and Dan), their work on colors and getting this information compiled
occurred over much more than the four years you put in and has been corroborated
by a lot of official data straight from the mothership. I am happy to know their
work still stands the test, but I am also happy to know that you are happy.
And this is why I said that I was going to have to ask you for a lot of proof

7. Some dark red that is not completely opaque

9. How does one separate all of these colors. I have a daytime job, and do not
get sun 24/7 ?
10. How bad is color variability?
11. Did TLG really need to produce that many colors?
12. I reckon many men have some inherent color blindness ...

I suspect both are supposed to look the same even if the result is different.
Having said that these 2 heads will be merged soon unless action is taken to
differentiate them.
Jen I don't suppose you still have the blister pack around do you? We need
to be sure it's really medium blue and save it or at least add a note to
the entry explaining a variation in color.

Oh so fast.
Is it an exact match to medium blue?
If so and if there is really such a clear distinction I think 2 new entries are
needed (with different pb numbers so they don't get merged).
It's not safe to edit the existing entries because I bet there are a lot
of sellers with the wrong stud type so just changing the color on 3626bpb0844
will lead to wrong listings where if people want the edited medium blue version
they will be disappointed.

The previous comments have given you the best advice.
I'll only add that to my knowledge there's no way to specifically search
for, or limit your search to, sellers who are in any particular US state - and
when you see the results of a search showing all the stores that have your desired
items, you cannot see their location on that search-results page either. So unfortunately
if you want to buy from sellers located in NY, you will have to manually click
on sellers in the search-results list, see where they are located, and go from
there.
Maybe someday Bricklink will allow searching by seller location - and ideally
even allow buyers to search for sellers that are within a certain distance of
their own location and allow local pickup. But for now, and probably for the
foreseeable future, I don't think that's possible.
Good luck though - buying here is nevertheless fun and easy!

Yes, they can. Even written in your terms, you can't expect everyone to be
okay with pet hair drifting into an order. The feedback is truthful. I would
leave a polite and professional response that you are sorry they were disappointed
and that the dog is mentioned in your terms.
It could happen to any of us that sell used LEGO, dog or no. If this is the first
buyer to notice and comment, then I would say you are well ahead of the curve!
I know it's hard to take a neutral you don't feel you deserve, but I
would just let this one go if it was me.

I’m very close to the 45°N parallel… and I didn’t get any snow this year
There may have been a bit for a day or two in the countryland, a few km closer
to the mountain (Massif Central for me)… but nothing like in Canada.
(I mean, it’s not a “mountain country” here, it’s just not a plain / it’s hilly
and forested, but it’s not the Mediterranean coast, like 1001bricks.)
If I’m not mistaken, you’d be South of Madrid yourself. How’s that tan going?

bad luck.
Haven’t checked your feedback, just assume you’ve already had a bad feedback
recently.
Wouldn’t be a problem for me, pet hairs are so good at sneaking in here and there
and as you say, it is in your terms.
Might be better to make the warning more obvious.

I should also mention that they are Medium Blue and Dark Azure. The 'Blue'
in the original item name was most likely meant to be a generic blue.

Frankly, need of LEGO shouldn't make you to accept to pay twice the taxes.
Apart if he didn't know he already paid (or he had to pay again, which I
doubt), then it's a wrong decision, IMO. How can you complain about something
you agreed to?

It is how this system was designed. Buyer pays twice and gets a refund from the
marketplace.
Only problem is that BrickLink has not implemented this yet...

It could just appear that way over the black and printed in a different factory
for the blister pack?
I suspect both are supposed to look the same even if the result is different.
Having said that these 2 heads will be merged soon unless action is taken to
differentiate them.
Jen I don't suppose you still have the blister pack around do you? We need
to be sure it's really medium blue and save it or at least add a note to
the entry explaining a variation in color.

The different laws consider BL the seller (“deemed supplier” in EU). That’s
why/how BL has to collect the tax.

Create a color chart for direct comparison.
Get a very, very bright light. (I've got a Brightech LightView 2.25x Light
Magnifier)
LEGO has been making some parts for decades. Expect color variation instead of
fighting against it. I have found that buyers really appreciate advance notice
of high color variability. Create separate lots if you can or at least warn them
in the comments of your opinion of the color.

VAT as they were required to do.

Also, why didn't you contact the seller when you were informed that VAT was
due? If the seller refused to refund you that VAT, you could have refused to
pay, had the package returned to the seller and filed for a refund of your entire
payment.

Frankly, need of LEGO shouldn't make you to accept to pay twice the taxes.
Apart if he didn't know he already paid (or he had to pay again, which I
doubt), then it's a wrong decision, IMO. How can you complain about something

Recently I bought the Set 4000001-1 (Moulding Machines). My set is not one of
the 68 items but one of 60.
This is the information I got from the seller:
x/68 sets were given to participants of the Lego Inside Tour.
x/60 have been a present to executives and special employees (that helped building
the mexican factory) of Lego.
I can send more proof to admins if necessary.
Please understand that I have to black out the number. The seller is otherwise
clearly identifiable.

There’s often a small multicoloured band on the packages nowadays.
It wasn’t something we had when we only had incandescent lightbulbs. At the
time, you chose the power (40W, 60W, 100W…) and the temperature was dependent
on that: more power = brighter = whiter (less yellow, more blue).

I cannot say I've ever had a problem telling apart brown, reddish brown and
dark red or black vs dark green.
Even old vs modern greys is quite easy in decent light.
I've noticed shades of dark red, same for pearl gold.

Maybe, but maybe not: maybe the problem occured between the posts/courriers.
The VAT Group said: “there’s problems, the solution is for the marketplaces to
refund the VAT.” The Commission said “yes, we allow the marketplaces to refund
and to remove the VAT if it was not yet remitted or deduct it on the next round
if it was already remitted.”
No looking at whom to blame. The buyer is already losing on the thing (second

| It's not a nice situation for the seller, for sure. I learned this with my
first sale to the EU, I did not provide the IOSS number when I brought the package
to the post office. They electronically send the VAT confirmation ahead of the
parcel. In this situation, it is the seller's fault, regardless of if they
knew they were doing something incorrectly.
It looks like this is a recurring situation in the Bricklink world. If I were
that seller I would refund you the second VAT, even if it means losing the profit
on the sale.
Also, I tried finding information on refunding twice-paid VATs and all I could
find was Tax return information for local residents of the EU. I'm sure there
is some number buried somewhere, but being in Canada it is hard to find out without
a huge long distance phone bill.
I hope you find resolution, I know it's frustrating. Those VAT bastrdz must
be making a mint on these!

| Ooooh, a very good question. Sun damage doesn't tend to be uniform, for starters.
A lot of the pieces I throw in the sad bin will only have one facet/angle/whatever
that's damaged by UV. That damage will often be in a bit of a gradient too,
with the area that caught the most sun showing the most damage. I used to have
a Kopaka Nuva shield that was a perfect gradient from white to tan, wish I knew
where it was. UV damage also tends to have a yellow/brown tinge, or green if
it's on Flat Dark Gold (that's a whole other can of worms).
Failing that, I make a lot of use of 'comparison' pieces. Parts that
I know are definitely not damaged that I can use as a control group. That being
said, I haven't seen a huge amount of UV damage on the metallics (except
FDG), they seem to tolerate exposure better than a lot of other colours. I did
once get a brown Kanoka launcher off of a Krekka though, so they're definitely
not immune...

No, Studio still has the -b parts and doesn’t know about the new ones.
That kind of changes already happened (e.g. recently for the 1x1 brick with clip)
and it always take some time (and messages) to have Studio updated.
We don’t know why the update is not automatic and nobody seems to care that it
breaks Studio and is a pain for its users, especially the newbies / non-specialists.

I wish Bricklink would not let sellers sell parts in bad condition. Or at least
create another "condition" category for parts with bite marks, wear,

that aren't that particular.

Hi,
EasyBuy is easy but not very good. Better use the Buy page and Auto-select:
just a few clicks more, the results should be about the same, but there’s filters.
The same problem would happen there but thanks to the filters, you could deselect
the store and least-favourite it to try again.
That being said, looking at the stores’ terms, the comments on the items, and
what’s exactly in the proposed carts is always something you have to do, especially
if you’re buying Used (or no condition).

Note that dodgy 131 and 150 are different when side by side. This is the lightest/worst
131 staff blade I have too.

I'm not trying to throw another wrench in the works, but how can you tell
with parts this old none of the variations are sun damage? My store started with
only Bionicle parts selling on BL and have grown from there so this discussion
is very interesting because I just list my silvers based on recognized BL colors
for the parts.

Yep, there were 167 sets added on January 1 and the site has worked through more
than 120 of them!
It seems someone may have reserved this set at some point and been unable to
complete the inventory. Any member who has the set in hand may submit it. Let
me know if you are interested and I can walk you through the process.

Bricklink inventories are based of sealed sets rather then instructions lists
as they have to include extras, built figures, things like sticker sheets, confirmation
of variants, etc

It's normal; 3062b has become 3062.
See thousands of previous posts.
And probably an e-mail from BrickLink you received?
Anyway, I'm not sure if Studio already had a corrective palette, some may
know.
You could change 3062b to 3062, manually, or easier import the studio file in
BrickStore, free and open source, it'll correct everything automagically,
then upload.
Others may have a better solution...

You can send a link to the photos through a bricklink message. I use wetransfer
but you can use imgur, Flickr, etc.
You can also send an email directly but I think it's best to correspond through
bricklink messages, especially if there's a dispute. Some sellers ignore
direct emails.

For what it's worth, I find listing Cool Silver parts as "Pearl Very
Light Gray" is beneficial until the time when the color is properly recognized
on the site. Makes them far easier to find and buy

If I am correct you can only send them through your normal e-mail, not through
Bricklink.
And that is a shame since the best way to send messages is through the BL system,
it looks more official and makes buyers and sellers more aware they need to do
something regarding an order.

I've never been more happy to be wrong in my entire life.
131 was reformulated. That's what I was missing. I never found anything to
suggest they changed it so significantly, but never gave it a new classification.
It's like the Dark Red change, but even more extreme. I knew there was precedent
for major reformulation within official designations, but I didn't know it
got this wild!
WOLKsite and WoutR, I cannot thank you two enough. YThis has been a thorn in
my side for years, and I can finally pull it out! I now have a pile of listing
to reclassify as 131 Original and/or 131 Reformulation, a guide to rework, and
a pile of silver misinformation I've published that needs retconning.
I owe you both massively. Thank you so, so much.
I never thought I'd be sitting here crying with joy from a message in this
thread when I posted my initial angry rant earlier today. God DAMN I love this
job.

To be clear admin did say that they were changing the names/numbers of four parts
on Feb. 1. So those would be 3062, 3068, 3069, and 3070. In each case the part
number lost the "b". I guess you could call it a "merge" if there
were "undetermined" variants of these parts.

And this is what I've been saying all along -- you've misunderstood
what 296 is.
Yes, the silver parts from 2007-2010 look different, HOWEVER, they are still
variations of 131. The color was reformulated, but remained under the same ID.
The peachy silver color from 2006 is 296.
Here's an official statement from LEGO Design Lab from 2009, talking about

Here's a 2010 color palette, officially released by LEGO Design Lab:

elements used in 2007-2010 sets, of those which match those listed in the instructions

2002-2005. Meanwhile, those 2006 parts with IDs matching the instructions are
labelled *Cool Silver*.
(The reason I bring up the IDs matching is that Bricks & Pieces often substitutes
parts due to being a replacement parts service, sometimes even with parts that
were never released, such as the elements in the Stars sets using color 315.)

For the sh946, I have 2 parts pending approval (head and torso), maybe because
the text isbover 150 characters, but for a first, I've found the golden ticket
with this Venomized Dr Octopus, with two parts dual sided, and a torso with 2
differents Arms and hands colors ! A nightmare...
If anyone can help do better than what I shortened to my Best... 😬🙄

For sh684 just ignore the item not found message. Just click the link and it
will go away and allow you to add the quantity and add it.

| I just had 2 more of such requests last night. I do not send pictures, and this
is stated in my terms. I found (20 years of experience), that only a small fraction
of these requests actually end ups in sales. Overall, it is not worth the time
to make and send pictures for these requests. In addition, I have to make sure
to include a piece of paper with my name and date in it, so the pictures are
not used to scam others on other websites.
I do understand that the condition of a box is important, and pictures would
help, but again, not worth it on average. I know of a few stores that have a
policy clause that I have considered: When asking for pictures, tell them it
is $10 per picture, and if they buy the set, you'll give them the money back
as a discount on the set. So, they can place an order for pictures only (so Bricklink
still gets the fee), and if they buy the set you can discount. I am considering
something like that, but in stead of giving them a full discount, they only get
half the picture money as a discount. After all, it is still effort to take pictures
and send them, even if they buy the set in the end.
My advice, do not send pictures, and state this clearly in your terms (so you
can refer them to your terms if someone asks for pictures), but describe the
sets well in your store. And if you send pictures, make sure you include a date
and name prominently, so you are not aiding scammers by providing them pictures
they will claim as their own to scam others into paying them for sets they do
not have.

| Sorry, I misspoke. That part of the link is actually wrong, at least in regards
to Bionicle. 296 was the (almost) exclusive silver used from 2007-2010 in the
Bionicle catalogue. This isn't even hard to confirm, just hold up any Mistika/Phantoka
exclusive mould next to an old Nuva chest. They don't match. They're
different official colours.

Yeah, there's a lot of sets from 2010 that need to have it recognized that
they used both 131 and 315. A few do, a few only have 315 recorded, a few only
have 131. Should apply to pretty much all of the 2010 HF sets, though not the
BIONICLE Stars.
The thing you are calling 150 looks to be 296. The thing you are calling 296
is another variation of either 131 or 296. 296 was only used in early 2006 with
few exceptions.
In the Guurahk staff image, from left to right I see 315, "old" 131,
"new" 131, and 296.

I'm not misclassifying an existing colour, or colours. 150 snuck into Bionicle
in 2006, and has been getting by as a variant of 131 for far too long. It's
far too consistent in its appearance, its comparisons to known 150 parts, and
the sets that bear it. There's a loooooot of unrecognised official colour
stuff in Bionicle, and I've spent an unhealthy amount of time trying to figure
it all out.
Everything I've found points me to the same conclusion: 150 is in Bionicle,
and not just in Krana-Kal. There are ABS and Polypropylene parts in 150, used
mainly in 2006, and with a teensy leak into 2007. 131 and 296 pigment variations
just don't match under the right lighting. This conclusion has been backed,
and accepted, by some of the biggest Bionicle stores on BrickLink.
150/Milky Joe is real. He's contaminated my beloved Bionicle, and I've
had an ass of a time trying to track the sneaky git down. But I bloody well did
it.

Did you unlist the items completely or did you reserve them for the potential
buyer who asked for pictures? If you want to give someone first dibs, do the
latter. But I personally wouldn't do that just because someone asked for
pictures.

Maybe make some pictures of the sets after you bought them, and just before you
put them in your stock before uploading. Save those pictures for future reference.
saves a lot of hassle.

examples of 150 to find.
ps I also suffer from crap photo conditions, but, here's the unedited version
of the Guurahk pic I posted earlier, with the inclusion of 315. You can kind
of see how pale it is, and how aggressively white it is. I'll try and get
a comparison pic of a 'bad' 131 part next to a 150 part for everyone
once I'm done typing.

Unfortunately its easy to assume that someone’s apparent interest matches that
of our own ‘serious’ interest if we ourselves were to ask similar questions of
a seller. Therefore I would never hold stock just for someone asking for photos.
I would hold stock if they specifically requested me to do so as I want to be
helpful wherever I can but then I might look upon their account very differently
if I feel I’m being messed around
That said my approach to these questions is now pretty much to advise the buyer
that whilst the box is in great condition they need to keep in mind that however
carefully we pack there is no guarantee it will reach them in the same perfect
condition as any photos taken. I also advise them that we primarily sell our
sealed sets to those just wanting the actual all important contents and so for
hardcore collectors wanting a box devoid of any minor scuffs, scratches or imperfections
I simply advise them that we cannot guarantee that level of service as to do
so might only risk leaving them disappointed!
To put it simply I’m quite happy to bat away this business and give it to other
sellers because if the whole transaction hinges on the condition of the outer
box alone then that makes the outcome of the transaction all the more risky whilst
devoiding the all-important content value in the process!
Sometimes buyers have responded back saying they intend to open the box and they’re
not collectors but just want to see photos to show its been well kept and not
a mangled mess to begin with and at that point they are usually serious buyers
and I send them photos and those transactions have gone through smoothly

You can find what they are worth by looking at sold prices in the price guide
for each set. You can then work out how much it will cost to replace any missing
parts to see if it is worth doing.

Those parts are not 150, they're most likely 296, in the case of the 2006
sets you mentioned -- early batches of those sets used 296 rather than 131
-- or bad 131 in the case of the 2007 sets. 296 Cool Silver is (contrary
to the name) a warmer, lighter color than 131 Silver.

Firstly, and you might not expect this, but I'd like to apologise for coming
in so hot. I definitely could've handled this better, that's 100% on
me. My frustration and anger were borne of a lack of communication, feelings
that I'd wasted hundreds of hours of my time, and my perception of your original
message as being an inadequate response. I'm not excusing my conduct, just
explaining why I was so livid. My feelings were justified, but my actions were
not. I'm sorry.
I appreciate your apology for missing my email. That's pretty much all I
wanted to begin with. Weird that the other one isn't there, I do occasionally
have issues with one of my email addresses not behaving, and this might be a
symptom of that. If so, that's also on me.
You don't sound like you're tooting your own horn at all. Or if you are,
I'm guilty of the same thing! You're proud of the work you've done,
and I understand and respect that. I'm the same, hence my frustration when
said work was ignored/perceived as brushed off. I'm passionate about Bionicle
(and Lego in general), and fixing ol' Bonk's wonky catalogue has been
a pet project of mine for a long time now. I grew up with it, and rediscovered
it during a pretty rough time in my life after being housebound for a few years.
As I said in another reply, not long before Covid I lost my livelihood and physical
health, and I was in a very dark place for a couple of years. I was a wanky theatre
kid before I became a wanky Bionicle seller, and losing that career path (which
I'd been training for for the majority of my life) destroyed me. It was my
main creative outlet too, and the double whammy wombo combo of losing my career
path AND creative outlet led me into a deep, dark depression. I spent every day
stuck at home, killing time, and waiting to die. My life wasn't exactly pleasant
up to that point either, although admittedly a lot of that was my own stunts.
The joys of a misspent youth...
Bionicle found me again not long before The Big C went viral, after a friend
encouraged me to join a Facebook group with cool memes and MoCs. That seemingly
inconsequential suggestion saved my life. With no exaggeration: I would be dead
right now if I hadn't found my way back to Bionicle. Please don't interpret
this as a guilt trip, or a 'woe is me' sorta thing, I'm just trying
to provide context to, well, me. I'm far too busy to be depressed nowadays,
honestly. It's hard to be sad sorting Lego, it's so damn satisfying!
Rendering order from chaos presses my happy buttons something fierce. The mysteries
and rabbit holes that crop up are fascinating too, I never thought I'd be
pulling 'lost' colours/moulds out of nowhere... Oops?
I won't go into the nitty gritty here about my findings, but they've
been meticulously checked and cross-referenced against big, respected Bionicle
sellers' inventories. I'm not just using my own collection as a basis
for this, that'd be far too small a pool to draw from. I wouldn't be
making any claims about lost colours/moulds if I wasn't 100% sure. I'm
painfully aware of the variation within official colours, 131 and 296 in particular

I genuinely had no idea the BrickLink catalogue team was so small, and was purely
on a volunteer basis. Your comments about time make a lot more sense now. It
sure as hell wasn't easy figuring all this out my end. My line about hundreds
of hours of work is not even close to being an exaggeration. I'm still working
on it too, as new parts keep turning up in 150. The most recent discovery was
made by another major BrickLink seller late last year! Honestly, the rabbit hole
just keeps getting deeper. We had 150 more or less nicely tucked away in 2006
(the 'bad year' for silvers) until it leaked into 2007. I had lots of
help from friends to collate all this info, and if you and the team were managing
the entire Lego catalogue with 4-5 people? You should absolutely be proud of
the work you've done. Not trying to blow smoke up your butt here, I just
want you to know that I do appreciate the work you've done. The silver history
breakdown link you sent was something of a Rosetta Stone that let me start clearing
up the timelines of usage. Granted, it's not entirely accurate, but there
was enough information there to get the ball rolling. Maybe toot that trumpet
of yours juuust a little bit
As for being hurt, and human? I was hurt too, and I'm also human. At least
until I successfully graft Bionicle parts to my crippled flesh prison. Seriously,
I am very sick. You could almost say I'm 'Pretty Sick.' I named my
store after my poor health, and because the PSPS acronym was funny. Brevity aside,
being ignored and feeling brushed off from your initial response really got to
me. Communication is important to me, and after being ignored, having some listings
deleted, and hearing nothing back when I tried to establish a line of communication?
It hurt. I don't want to run BrickLink as some commenters have said. Hell,
I didn't even want to be on the team or anything. You have at least 1 of
my original emails, and you can see that its tone was vastly different to my
forum post. I think the only thing I asked about/for was API access for potential
inventory management tools? I offered my information freely, because I just wanted
to help. And you know what? I still do.
Let's take this from the top, shall we? I'm sorry again for being an
ass about this initially. Being stonewalled, then being told that the problem
you've brought up is too difficult isn't a great time, especially when
you solved the problem yourself, y'know? I hate complaining about things
without offering anything constructive, and I wouldn't have brought this
up if I had doubts about my work. I offer a picture of PSPS' manager as a
peace offering (wearing a very expensive hat).
I'm sorry again for how I approached this today. Yeah, my feelings were justfied
(for the most part), but I didn't need to be a condescending dick about it.
I really do appreciate you replying, even if the first response was a bit squiffy.
Any response is significantly less frustrating than being stonewalled, yknow?
I'll send an email through with links to my Google Drive data to get the
ball rolling, and will happily provide any and all information/proof/whatever
to support my findings.

| I have paid VAT at time of purchase, then my local postal service collected VAT
again, because the IOSS number was not correctly entered on the system. They
confirmed this to me in an email. They also told me to get the VAT back from
the seller. In this case Bricklink collected the VAT. I have logged a ticket
with BL, but that has gone into a dark hole.
I am willing to die on this hill. So how do I get my VAT back? I can log a claim
with PayPAl to get my VAT back, I doubt this will work. And I can file a chargeback
with my Bank. Other ideas?
But I will move heaven and earth to sort this out. And Bricklink have a responsibility
here to support me with this. The seller's hands are tied as well.

| Just come back from holiday to see this, and im really dissapointed.
Merging part variants is ridiculous idea, the whole point of bricklink is to
buy the parts we want and need, to complete old set as far as im concerned,
if I have an old set that needs a certain parts and I recieve a modern reissue
part I am going to be pissed off,
kind of invalidates the whole point of bricklink I think.

| I have been going through my old LEGO BIONICLES and have found that some of them
have missing pieces and such. I was curious as to such if it would be worth while
donating or selling them locally (As I live in Australia) in stead of hunting
down the correct pieces to build a complete BIONICLE. I do want to recycle and
not waste these historic figures although made of plastic. I've had good
memories with them but I'd just prefer them to go to some use. I'm open
for other ideas as well.
TLDR; Is buying spare parts and then selling as whole worth the time?
Is it something to put time and effort into for such a task.

| Hi,
I've created my first inventory submission for the new set 76275.
I can't find how to add the 2 minifigures (including sh946 whose submission
is pending approval) to set inventory ?
I try to add it using the form under the inventory, but wether I try the new
sh946 or the existing sh684, none is found...

No. They have already said they won't merge lots in a store. You might end
up with two lots of the (now) same thing, in different locations but each with
their own remarks.

Considering the sellers entered condition notes saying "bite marks"
or "scratches" or "damaged", I'd say they are already sorting
them. Every seller I've seen states in their terms they only sell good/very
good/great (whatever specific words they use) condition used parts unless otherwise
noted so yes, anything "used" is good, that is already in place. There
could be a universal grading scale like on ebay only taylored to Lego. This was
an idea to fix my problem at hand and the question I asked. How do I reject parts
with notations I'm not comfortable with and still purchase those parts when
using Easy Buy? This was my first time using Easy Buy. I thought I would save
myself a lot of time and hassle with the Easy Buy feature but it has this huge
flaw in it. If you don't like my suggestion to fix this, how would you fix
it?

Hmm, strange, it's not on he list of variants that are going to be merged.
Can't find anything in the forum about it as well.
Maybe it's considered as a variant not important enough to be distinct from
the normal 3660 (Slope, Inverted 45 2 x 2 with Hollow Round Bottom Tube), but
in that case that description should have been changed.
And 3660old would be weird as well, since the hollow tube variant is not old
Maybe a catalog admin can shed some light on the matter.

I don't always take pictures of whatever item a buyer asks.
If the set include instructions or box, I take photos, upload it on imgur.com
and send a link. The buyer may not order this item, but I already created a link
in hand to send to a next user should he wants photos. This is much easier than
attaching photos one by one.
You can also add the link to the comment section, or to the remark section (to
be accessible by only you).
I would not reserve an item for a buyer who asks for a photo, specially if he
did not ask that

Some buyers may not trust your store and the way you describe the condition.
It can help to take photos of a few sets with their description, as an example
(in your ) and mention this in your terms. Then buyers can better understand
what you mean by "parts in good condition", "the print on the part
X mildly faded",...

If someone asks for pictures, ask them if there is any particular aspect they
want to see in a picture. If they don't respond, no picture. If they send
a long list, no pictures. If they seem genuine, send a couple.
Bear in mind if they have asked you, they gave probably also asked 10 other sellers
the same thing.
I wouldn't reserve sets for a buyer unless they were known to me. And definitely
not unlist them, as nobody can buy them then.
