It would also be a good idea to incorporate the ability to update selected inventory
items into a superlot.

In addition, whilst you can use external tools to work on pricing it would be
far better if that type of tool existed on the MY Inventory page.

We are aware there has been discussion over sellers tools since 2013, and these
things may or may not be in those new tools, however it is now 5 years since
that discussion began and to date, I am not sure anyone is aware of what may
or may not be coming.

We are led to believe that Admin_Jaclyn is project managing the sellers tools
- Could we have an indication as to what is being considered, please?

This suggestion has been asked for a number of times, and is currently being
trialled for a few new sets:

Currently if you look at a set with more than 1 build (60052 for example) you
are greeted with the parts list arranged by part type and colour, for the whole
set.

What I would love to see is this done for each individual build in a set , for
example;
all parts required for this, arranged as usual but given its own heading (Current
ones are for plates, bricks, supplemental etc I believe?

- Locomotive
- Wire Drum Car
- Pallet Car
- Cattle Car
- Fork Lift
- Truck
- Gantry Crane/Office

This would allow users to quickly populate wanted lists for specific aspects
from sets, I don't believe the Part-Out function would do this (although
it did answer my other request).

It’s a suggestion, not a question
The purpose is the following ( https://www.bricklink.com/messageTopics.asp ):
“Suggestions to the BrickLink Admininstration to improve website functionality
and design.”

Yes, Rebrickable allows to check set or public MOCs inventories with personal
part lists/inventories. But having a few inventory/WL features on BL would be
better than having to work around with third party tools (with all the hassles
of exporting / importing and handling the different nomenclatures).

Just having the possibility to merge or substract two wanted lists, or a WL and
an order or a set inventory would be a great improvement.

  Hello Everyone,

In June of last year, we introduced a new Wanted List upgrade. This upgrade came
with a newly-designed buying experience which focused on the necessity to compare
and plan out multiple carts at once, as well as make it easier to manage multiple
lists.

Since BrickLink's Wanted List is a core feature for most users, we currently
provide the classic version for members to use as a backup in case there are
glitches with the new version. This is intended to be a temporary solution.

The classic version of the Wanted List feature will become unavailable on
June 5, 2017.
At this point, we have ensured that the new version of the
Wanted List covers all desired functionality (plus more) from the classic version.
If you have any issues with the new version, please let us know as soon as possible.

Thank you for the continued support, bug reports, and helpful feedback as we
continue to roll out important changes.

Sincerely,

Jaclyn

The problem is this change was never needed. The old lists worked fine. We

Thankfully the new list hasn't been removed. Let's keep it that way........please.......

it can get a little annoying.

This issue was observed on Chrome, it may react differently on other browsers,
if so I would love to hear about which ones if the button works!

Thanks!

would work like incomplete set tick box. That would avoid that customers buy
damaged parts without knowing it and will level up the average price to what

As a regular buyer, I find this idea great! I noticed increased number of damaged
parts listed as used recently. There must be a clear distinction between used
(a bit scratchy) and heavily damaged parts.

Recently, I have to order typically one or two pieces more (as I calculate
with the parts which I throw to the trash immediately, because they are heavily
damaged). I think most of the damaged parts are bought as replacement parts for
incomplete used sets and buyer don't care with the quality.

Hi

It might be that the seller purchased at different prices and to keep the margin
the same are listing at different selling prices as well. Also might be that
the seller wants to sell old stock quicker on fifo basis. Also might items parted
from sets as opposed to bulk purchases of the same item. Might be different warehousing
options. Could also be differnt remarks for sales purposes, which cannot be done
for tiered prices. Who knows, the reasons can be myriad and all perfectly reasonable.
Personally I would not use tiered pricing for any of the above.
Just a thought

We have tiered price possibilities, but some sellers like to clutter the price-list

Why???

I would suggest if it is exactly the same item, either use tiered pricing....or
maximum of 3.

Anyone else has an opinion?

Voted no. This seller has probably got pre-packed bags in those numbers so it
is legitimate to list like this. Plus tiered pricing does not work in the same
way when it comes to buyers sorting by price. And there are not enough price
bands for this in tiered pricing.

If a change needs to be made, then let it be that the "least favourite" setting
works in the price guide too, so they can be hidden from view if they offend
you.

The same information as in the sellers-orderpage. With picture and with "My

Best (and simpliest) solution would be (in my opinion): the orderdatail page
as an PDF-attachment. (text searchable, not as an image)

Explanation": This is very helpfull when Bricklink is in Maintenance mode or
when picking orders in offline-mode (or when our intenet is down). It is also
helpfull for history

For a buyer it would be helpfull as it is the same as the orderplaced datail.

Comments or other/better ideas are welcome

This is very usefull when there is an ERROR 500 going on.

This is because new (and common) items are more susceptible to the "race to the
bottom" prices. New shops pop up with same sets as anyone else (because they
are all on sale). They part out as new, and price below average to get sales.
This happens less with used parts as there is way more work involved in listing
them (so fewer "get rich while doing almost nothing shops").

Niek.

Not necessarily. Some people are only looking for Used, some of them for authenticity,
some of them (wrongly) believing Used is always cheaper than New.
So the parts could still be sold

Hello there

Thank you for your comments. Sometimes used is more expensive than new based
on demand and availability. Like you we would always buy new if that were the
case. We get buyers who buy the used even though new is less expensive. It doesn't
always marry up with logic and is part and parcel of the Bricklink/Lego world.

to build up quantities of standard items. I listed them at our standard price
and then later on went to my inventory page, called up that item and added a
tiered price at 1p below our standard price for quantities of 100 or more. Fine
- no problem.

Today additional stock of that particular item came across my desk to be added
and I went to add the item - filled in all information to add the additional
pieces. Lo and behold the system removed my tiered price and set it back to 0.

As it is not really possible to remember all the items we have on tiered pricing,
I believe the system should either show you this or have an option to retain
tiered pricing.

Anyone else - or is there a workaround to ensuring the tiered pricing sticks.

The workaround is there - don't use the ad item screen. Go to my inventory
and simply change the quantity of the part and submit changes. Please consider
enhancing the normal add item screen to either see the pricing you have set up
or to retain any tiered pricing for that item.

Thanks.

Anyone else - or is there a workaround to ensuring the tiered pricing sticks.

Please add the option to send an orderconfirmation massage to the seller WITH
the ordered items in detail.
The same information as in the sellers-orderpage. With picture and with "My
Remarks"

Best (and simpliest) solution would be (in my opinion): the orderdatail page
as an PDF-attachment. (text searchable, not as an image)

Explanation": This is very helpfull when Bricklink is in Maintenance mode or
when picking orders in offline-mode (or when our intenet is down). It is also
helpfull for history

For a buyer it would be helpfull as it is the same as the orderplaced datail.

Comments or other/better ideas are welcome

I suppose running 2 stores is a possibility, but I would rather see this option

You could move sections of your store to a stockroom for a while.

You can add items in the cart to a Wantlist.

I know there is the option to "Apply Order" to a wanted list. However I want
to play around a bit with my wanted lists to figure out the best prices before
I start the actual ordering.

You can use the Buy tab search option a few times over and over, create a cart
each time, then compare the carts on multiple browser tabs.
Unfortunately the Buy feature doesn't allow to do multiple searches because
after it finds a store and you create a cart you need to go back again and search
again.

Or use the classic view By Shop option to find the stores with the most parts
and to create multiple carts. https://www.bricklink.com/wantedShop.asp?showOld=Y

I don't think it's about vengeance so much as hiding a store they can't
order from anyway.

one store when searched out manually.

I know what you mean about the auto select button. I had a very complex wanted
list that the auto select was able to narrow down to 7 stores, but the stores
it picked were some of the most expensive stores on Bricklink and the total cost
was around $500. I was able to manually fit my wanted list into 12 stores for
a total of around $270!
So I think what the auto select button does is pick the stores with the most
items that match your wanted list and does not really take prices of items or
shipping cost into consideration.
I hope this helps you out 😀

It went away a while ago, there have been some pretty long threads discussing
the disappearance of the feature.

The three options, “Lowest Price,” “Fewest Stores,” and “Best Price,” were just
heuristical sets of parameters for the approximating algorithm, and they were
given names according to what the results were hoped to be. But:
“Fewest Stores” sometimes gave a lower price than “Lowest Price.”
“Lowest Price” sometimes gave fewer stores than “Fewest Stores.”
No one never knew what “Best Price” meant.
And I’m sure people tried all three every time.

At one time, BL realized the names were a bit too optimistic (not to say misleading),
and they chose to reduce the choice to only one option, which I think can be
dubbed “Best,” whatever that might mean.
And we still don’t know what it does.
And there are still weird, unexplained, uncommented things happening.

A complete mobile GUI would be nice like on ebay. There is a mobile app in progress
right now created by bricklink. I've heard of some people creating their
own app though.
So yeah, on a mobile it is quite inconvenient to use atm.

My favoured solution would be feedback rating only calculated on the last 12months
transactions, with the exception of NPB/NSS which I feel should be on permanent
record.

I feel the same way: any feedback (meaning negative, neutral & positive) should
have an expiration date. E.g. last 24 months. I would suggest to take the period
long enough (longer as 12 months). That way when a seller takes some time off
(or has other priorities in his life), it won't have a big effect.
That way, it's a continuous evaluation. Sellers that goofed up in the past
have a horizon for a clean slate and sellers with super positive evaluations
in the past will still be motivated to keep up their good efforts to maintain
their scores.

So my suggestion could be:
* display an absolute numbers of number of sales in all history, to indicate
the seniority of the seller
* a relative number (% satisfaction) of all positive feedback orders vs total
orders, but limited to the orders of the last 24 months
* NPB/NSS should indeed be sticky (or at least for a really long time, e.g. for
48 months)

I don't know how hard what I'm asking for is, but I've had some fun
today tracking down "undetermined" variants in sets that I have from childhood.
I'm pretty close to mining it as far as I can go, but I would certainly
consider parting out some sets from eBay with the added interest in finding the
variants. Could we have a tool that would just identify a list of sets that
contain a piece of undetermined variant?

OK, this is fixed now. I have tested it on a couple of item types and the form
no longer erases the category when a flag is triggered. Please let us know if
something still needs adjustment.

Also deployed at this time, when conducting an Advanced Catalog Search and using
the additional button pane, upon reversing back to the page after viewing search
results (presumably to tweak a setting) the additional pane will remain in place.

I know these seem little changes, but it would be great if all that is done was
added to the Roadmap: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2453

I like to see this site improving and also it would show everyone that a lot
of work is being done. Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion! We have made dozens of these little improvements over
the last few months and it would undoubtedly encourage people to hear about them.

I totally agree, and suggest BrickLink go one step further and remove the ability
for stores to adjust their prices to the current 6 month average for consolidated
lots when parting out sets as it's only serving to drive prices down either
further.
[…]
Stores would still be able to adjust prices manually of course, but who really
has the time to check the prices of 10,000 lots against the current average price?

People are already using third party tools (theirs or BrickStock) that can do
that easily.
The more you restrict tools in BL, the more people will use tools outside of
BL (and continue bitching there aren’t enough sellers tools in BL).

I would imagine the declining prices would be having a knock on effect with BrickLink's
income, so any steps to address the declining prices are in their best interest
too.

Price fixing, or limiting people’s ability to set their own prices, isn’t a solution
(apart from being illegal).

If you allow me to take one sentence out of your reply:

I had a $50 cart and what I thought was a great deal.

This is _exactly_ why others would argue to have that feature removed. And if
you allow me to quote another tidbit from a different thread you posted:

Because I can't imagine the site administrators would knowingly remove the feature and allow the happy wonderful Lego fans through out the world who have gathered together here in the safe and welcoming site that is Bricklink to be knowingly ripped off. Some dude last week tried to charge me $2.00 for a 35 cent piece. It was an odd piece, I needed it. But I didn't '500% make up' need it. I can't keep track of the average price of 1000s of pieces

You have to understand that nobody is trying to rip you off by pricing items
in a certain way. That price is there to see and agree with or not.
I fully understand that automatically comparing prices to the last 6 month average
makes it easier to pick the best deal, but by doing this. BrickLink is actively
helping to push prices down. Shops that have priced items reasonably will see
that over time they will lose out on orders because others will undercut the
prices, and buyers will more and more favor the lower-priced options, thus further
put pressure on the L6MA. Stores that don't constantly adjust their prices
will eventually maybe show 500% above average. That does NOT mean they are ripping
buyers off.

The price comparison feature was introduced some time in the last year. Before
that, people were able to buy their LEGO just fine, but there can't be much
doubt that this feature was helping the downward spiral of item prices. This
is not in the interest of BrickLink, and not in the interest of the sellers.
And if you think about it, in the long run it is also not in the interest of
buyers. Many larger shops are feeling the pressure, and have to think about whether
this is still a market that is worthwhile to pursue. Sure, if they close shop,
others will fill the void, but it will be more and more of the lowest-prices-quick-sale-goodbye
shops. And that is not good for anyone.

Just my $0.02.

Niek.

+1

I totally agree, and suggest BrickLink go one step further and remove the ability
for stores to adjust their prices to the current 6 month average for consolidated
lots when parting out sets as it's only serving to drive prices down either
further.

I choose to retain existing prices for consolidated lots, but it often leaves
me with lots priced more than double the current average which goes to show how
much prices have dropped in the past 6 months.

In Australia many sets are no longer viable to be parted as the purchase price
(Even when heavily discounted from the RRP) is often only a couple dollars less
then the part out value, and on occasion (Star Wars and Minecraft usually) the
part out value is less than the RRP!

Stores would still be able to adjust prices manually of course, but who really
has the time to check the prices of 10,000 lots against the current average price?

I would imagine the declining prices would be having a knock on effect with BrickLink's
income, so any steps to address the declining prices are in their best interest
too.

a lot of minifigs and that means I am always adding items with new PCCs and torsos
that need to be inventoried and sometimes adding the minifig and its pieces to
the catalog. The catmins do a great job of moving things through, but obviously
there isn't always one at the desk! I have this routine for adding them
and I have another routine after they get approved and I try to do it promptly,
but things happen. This might not be something that generates a lot of interest
because most people don't do this stuff, but it would really streamline for
me if I could add the PCCs to pending pieces, inventory pending torso assemblies
with pending torsos, and even add the pending pieces to pending minifig inventories.
The same basic things would also help the people who tackle the sets (which
I don't usually do myself). Then when the pieces were approved everything
would just fall into place and it would be done.

Regarding PCCs, definitely. There is no reason these cannot be included on the
primary form.

Adding pending items to inventories, etc is a little trickier though. I discussed
at length with our developers the possibility of adding "provisional" entries
to the catalog. These could be added by certain well known contributors and could
later be merged with existing entries if an identical item was found. The purpose
of provisional entries would be to shift the approval process into hyperdrive
to get new items onto the market ASAP.

The question remains, though, whether we need to be that efficient in order to
reasonably satisfy the needs of the site. At this point there are a number of
things we would do *before* provisional entries to increase efficiency. So that
part of your request we will need to move to the back burner.

Because we are generally not going in the direction of users entering codes,
I have discarded this request. However, the helpful comment from StormChaser
I believe will partially solve your frustration.

Also, I have filed a bug report for the category field getting reset when the
"Item Number is being used" flag is triggered. And we will likely add a "Verify
Item Number" feature to that page as well.

Not enough space on the subject line! When adding a part to the catalog, we
have to scroll through every catagory in the catalog. I mostly add minifig pieces,
halfway down the list. And it is especially frustrating when the item number
I choose is already pending in the catalog and I have to scroll through it all
again. All of these categories have a number and I have considered just changing
my routine to adding the number on the pending items screen. I just haven't
done that because it feels improper to submit it without the category and I might
forget. If it were an option, that is the option I would use.

Thanks. I was just joking: suggestions are always triggered by recent events,
so the people having participated in the last dispute could think you were bored
with them

By the way, you can see how many people ignore you in your My Activity page (just
above the defunct Chat subsection at the bottom), but you can’t know who they
are.

I’m of the grumbling and sarcastic but helping sort, I like to think the helping
part explains why I’m only on 7 ignore lists

This feature already exists in Brick Seller. When parting out sets, the remarks
field will be automatically filled in with the remarks from other lots that you
have in inventory for the same part. If you have different remarks for the different
colors of the same part (let's say you have many in Black and you store them
in a different inventory location), the remarks field will be filled with the
remarks from lots that have the most colors stored in it.

On page 1 where I input the number of sets etc. - A tick box for something along
the lines of "auto add pre-existing remarks to items".

I am aware this is shown on the confirmation page but here is why this is a problem.

Some of my parts don't have any remarks because I have never had them in
my inventory. I and many others use the remarks box to input the a reference
number to their place of storage. If I have the item in my inventory I have to
either click onto a new page or wait until I go to the inventory page.

If I had this tick box on the first page, that I am suggesting, here is what
would happen.

The remarks would be filled in automatically for parts with your "default" remark.
This would occur on the same page where you can alter pricing, quantities, add
notes, etc. This would mean I can go through the part out list, add remarks easily
to new parts, store parts in their rightful places, alter quantities, etc. all
in one page.

After switching to PayPal marketplace for onsite PayPal, I no longer receive
email alerts from PayPal that I have been paid. PayPal tells me that all those

to receive payment notifications by email when a buyer has paid for their order?
This could be an option in my account settings that I either turn on or off.
I would think this would not be a huge undertaking and would make the transition
a lot smoother. Especially considering the fact that I did not read anything
about email notifications no longer working in Bricklink's communication
about enabling PayPal marketplace.

Thank you!

No really Bricklink... can you please do this, like yesterday?

I agree! On step 3 it does show your current remarks and what you are consolidating
but it could work a bit better I believe.

I think they should have the step 2 remarks box show your current remark for
that piece and give you the freedom to change it at that point, say you need
to change the piece from a small drawer 'S109' to a free large drawer
'L82', then on step 3 it can show you if you have made a change or the
current remark if you haven't.

(My Remarks: S109) - No change
(My Remarks: S109 changed to L82) - Change to remark

How I am supposed to set prices and quantities once I place item in a list?

Depends.
If you put it from the item’s page, there are fields in the dialog.
If you want to change / add something when looking at or searching in your WLs,
you just click on the field you want to change and the WL goes in edit mode.
You go out of edit mode by clicking the “Save Changes” button that appeared
in the blue line at the bottom of the screen or by hitting the Enter key.
Or you can do batch changes with the leftmost checkboxes and the menu just above
the header (move, copy, apply colour, condition…).

How can I see what the lowest prices for a piece in a list?

Use the price guide.
Or you can show a few stores for each item if you click “More Options” (near
the “Search Wanted List” field) and then click “Show” in the rightmost column.
Don’t forget to change the sort option (stupidly defaults to store name) and
to click “Apply.”

I never have use the new one I always click on classic because it is much easier
to navigate and do what I need.

Remember when you learned how to use the “classic” one? Go the same way: try.
If you never try, you never learn.

This change remind me of Microsoft changing the
search features in the "File Explorer" or removing the Program Menu. It was never
a good Idea.

I don’t remember MS ever having had a good idea for its users.

Perhaps refer to discussion thread https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=217888&nID=1031088.
The feature was removed and the suggestion to reenable it was discarded.

Thanks for the link. I couldn't find a related topic, but new to the board,

It's kind of stupid they got rid of it, even worse that they won't bring

  Hi,

I guess default photographs of Minifig Heads (specifically their expressions
and facial features) are being replaced with graphics.

That is not the case. For a somewhat detailed expression of the current catalog
image policy, please see here:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=87

As stated under Preferences:

"For decorated parts (both printed and stickered) photos are preferable to renders."

I find the angled, turned-away graphics (example (a) below) notably less visually
informative than straight-on great photographs of a Minifig Head's expression
and facial features (example (b)).

Everyone is in agreement on that point. The rendered image below was contributed
in 2011 by the contributor of the original entry. If someone were to upload a
good photo of that head today, it would be replaced.

Please retain good photographs as the default image for shoppers.

If a large effort is underway to create angled, turned-away, less clear heads,
I do not understand how this loss of immediate (i.e. default) visual presentation
data constitutes a site improvement. In addition to, for example beard/brow/cheek/glasses
alignment details, a straight-on photograph also informs the shopper of a Lego
paint scheme's older or newer production art quality.

Even if the great photographs are retained as alternates to the default graphics,
BrickLink administrators are adding more process steps to get to the best information
available, which is more time-consuming for users and illogical beyond uniformity.

I can obsess by the way, and love nice shiny rows of similar thingies, but not
if such uniformity is going to make any customer process more difficult.

Lastly the type of stud is no big deal for my uses, so I do not need a partial
top-down view. I suspect this is true for most shoppers.

Apologies if my overall image transition guess is mistaken.

Thanks for listening, Matthew

Admittedly there has not been much explanation of the large scale image project
that is underway. But that will change very soon.

You can monitor new pictures coming into the catalog and see that there is no
effort going on to replace head pics with lower quality pics. While there is
an effort to replace pics of real pieces with renders, actual piece pics seem
to be preferred for minifig parts. Where you see renders on them it is because
the submitter did the easiest thing and pulled the pic from Lego.com. The catmins
accept that to get a piece in the catalog, but I often submit pics of real pieces
before long and they always replace the renders.

Please, Bricklink give us back the Paypal notifications.
Or please notify us in any way that the payment is done.

Those who have switched to Paypal Marketplace are not receiving the notifications.
Many users are complaining about that in other posts.

Yes this needs to be done.

I contacted Paypal to confirm that the emails are being sent and that Bricklink
is receiving them. I then contacted Admin about 5 days ago but of course that
contact has not been answered.

I changed the message template for "purchase confirmation" to include "paid with
instant checkout" so I know from the email that payment was made and I should
not expect a second paypal payment confirmation email.

Message Templates can be found under store settings.

Good Idea!

My favoured solution would be feedback rating only calculated on the last 12months
transactions, with the exception of NPB/NSS which I feel should be on permanent
record.

any way for me to request removal of this feedback seeing as how the system apparently
can't access the order?

They do expire in the sense that they are no longer shown in the 1 month, 6 month
and 1 year history, but are always kept as a permanent historical record.

Plus they get lost in recent positive feedback. So if you are a decent seller
generating positive feedback, they soon become less important.

If they get rid of bad, then surely they should get rid of good too? If they
didn't, then lots of recent bad history could be hidden by a high overall
number from past very good feedback.

When I check feedback, I normally look at the time breakdown. If no bad feedback
in a year (with lots of good), then I ignore any historical bad feedback. Whereas
if there is no recent feedback but a lot of past negatives, then they are important
as the store may not have changed.

I get your point about negative feedback perhaps having an influence for too
long, but I am surprised you expected negative to disappear and positive to stay.
That's distorting the past. As crazylegoman pointed out, your negative feedback
will probably exist longer than you A suggestion to make very old feedback
less prominent or influential could be good, but not this way.

There are only 2 options to pay fees onsite to paypal. Overdue amount & total
amount(Which doesn't include current months fees). Can we get an additional
option to enter our own amount? Paying directly to billing@bricklink.com does
not solve my problem, i need onsite.

Hear, hear!

The concept of the Quote Request is one of the precious few useful innovations
under the new management. However, that it can only be found and selected as
a secondary option on the last step of the checkout process is ridiculous. That
too needs to be rectified - have it as a separate path at the start of checkout,
not the end.

As well, the afore mentioned suggestion of making an option for the seller to
only allow Quote Requests will preclude the repeated bogus orders of buyers who
won't pay. They can then accept or cancel once they know the shipping, no
excuses.

These people are getting an immediate invoice that says I have packed their

invoice for the auto-generated ones.

I think what you describe already exists, the SHIPMETHODID-EQ block tag, right?
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/message_templates.page#/1

Actually, I would like no invoice to be sent for IC orders.

Invoices can have 3 different functions: originally, it's tax administration,
but it can also serve as payment instruction or order confirmation. Bricklink
already has both payment instruction and order confirmation, and I don't
know about others but I am doing my tax administration separately anyway because
for me BL does not generate legally valid invoices. That leaves not a single
reason for me why BL should send an invoice. I am abusing the BL invoice function
to just make its macros generate a list of data that I feed into my invoicing
software. Unfortunately, on the IC orders I don't get to delete this list,
and it is obligatorily sent to the buyer. Not very elegant.

I would really like to have the option to turn off automatic invoices. Many webstores
where I buy invoices are sent manually after payment, or after accepting and
preparing the order. I think BL should allow the same. Just as an option I mean,
so that everyone can run things the way they want.

I am proud of the invoice template that I developed. It doesn't get used
that much since instant checkout started. I sometimes get a "Wait for Invoice"
order and use it. But more often it is used to auto-send an invoice to someone
who clicked instant checkout and then didn't complete their payment. I guess?
These people are getting an immediate invoice that says I have packed their
order and everything is good to go, which is still what I would like to tell
the people who wait for an invoice. But I would rather have a totally different
invoice for the auto-generated ones.

I looked at that and it doesn't seem to be able to do what I propose.

as well as others I'm sure, have complained about the average prices that
are grossly inflated due to very high priced parts. On the used side of the guide
it seems it is always the same 2 stores (ex $39.95 for a $0.20 piece).

Why can't we do what they do in some sporting events - throw out the lowest
and highest and then average. I'm sure there is a way to do this.

My personal suggestion would be to do like we do at work. Throw away the bottom
and top 10% using the average of the middle 80%.

The bottom, because there are numerous stores list 1 item at less then .01 to
get people there then the remainder of the same item is about average, or above
average. Then there are those that use their store to hold items, Ive seen .05
items for "sale" at $500.00

What do people use the average of the "Current items for sale" info for? I would
think that the 6 month sales average info is much more important. It has been
brought up here many times and I don't understand why people don't use
the 6 month sales average instead?

I am asking this not to be snarky in any way, I am just wondering if maybe I
am not seeing the importance of that information and thus missing out on the
use of it.

Both are useful.

When you want to set a price on a item (buying or selling), you look at how much
similar items were sold for in the recent past but you also look at how much
it can be bought now. And how many were sold and how many are for sale now.

Say something sold for $5 last months but you can’t find some for sale below
$6 now. What help does the past sales give you? Will you wait until the price
goes below $6 again? What if that never happens?

Or the other way around, something sold for $6 but now you can easily find it
for $5. If you’re a seller, if you price it at $6, you won’t sell yours before
all the ones at $5 are sold ; and that could take a long time. And if you’re
a buyer, if you only check the sold price, you’ll be happy buying at $6 when
you could easily have had the item for $5.

All info is useful.

median is already there via the quantity average.

No. Median and quantity average are totally different notions.
(E.g. prices 2x$1, 1x$4, 1x$5, 1x$10, lot average = (1+4+5+10)/4 = $5, qty average
= (1+1+4+5+10)/5 = $4.2, median = the 3rd price = $4.)

Still, you can find the median by looking at the “raw” data and adding all the
quantities until you get to half the total quantity.

  […]
Problem is more, people desperately hang on to non weighted avg prices in stead
of their weighted qty avg.

Problem is people hanging on the price guide

I think a big issue is when someone accidentally (I assume) lists a cheap 50
pence item at £49 (or similar) by mistake, this does impact the avg greatly.
Seen it loads of times.

Interesting idea and it does solve a problem. Another method could be taking
the median rather than the mean. Or the seller could have the option to select
his default preference (eg. Median or Mean Value).

median is already there via the quantity average.
it is stupid to take out the lowest and highest because you cant cancel these,
as they are legit buyable offers.
Furthermore would you delete a part with 4.5 cent as lowest, but dont do to one
thats exactly 5 cent?

The highest parts dont have much impact on the price, because one part at 20
dollars,
is not much recognizable in a complete offer from 20000 parts from 10-15 cent.

Problem is more, people desperately hang on to non weighted avg prices in stead
of their weighted qty avg.
