I got my first Neutral Feedback without any justification.
The buyer made the order at 17.2, I shipped it at 18.2 and he received it at
21.2
Although it took less then a week and although the Israeli PO is not under my
command (I wish it was!) the buyer gave me the following feedback:
Everything I asked for arrived, even the used one feels like new but the shipping
time takes quite a long time
I submitted Feedback Removal Request.
My questions are:
1. What to expect? The feedback will be cancel?
2. How long does it take normally?
Thanks,
Yoav

Sorry to hear it. Through comms you can request of the member to remove their
own feedback left. Don't believe the feedback removal request will be acted
upon, it lacks grounds within the guidelines
Many just do not understand the impact "neutral" has on a seller's
profile. Understandable as it's in fact, not neutral.

| If it is 1 neutral or negative in 20000+ total, it would be rounded up as it
would be 99.995. 1 in 19999 total rounds down to 99.99%, 1 in 20000 total rounds
up to 100.00%.

Carol was my inspiration early on here as to what a BL seller could become.
Her comms, packaging, listing practices, processing times, all exemplary. She
set the bar high for other BL sellers. I’m privileged to have gotten to know
her some personally over the years. A wonderful personality who happens to also
enjoy her garden
She and I trading location in a manner of speaking. We were in Olympia for years
while she was up in the Seattle area. Nearly at the same time, she and her hubby
moved down to Olympia where we lived, while we move up to the Seattle area where
they had just left. She also has been fazing out her inventory in order to close,
nearly as long as we have been

It isn't treated as a bad thing. It is also not a good thing, so doesn't

Email the buyer and ask them to stop doing it. If no response, stop list them,

If sellers place an order then in that case they are a buyer. And why would I

You can cancel your feedback and leave them a negative. Then file a complaint

The (bad) seller is allowed to think at this as a negative transaction.
You could remove your feedback if you gave it less than 30 days ago, and give
him a negative also
Apart this, it won't be changed.
Note you could also Reply to the feedback, it's important if someone reads
it.
Much more, don't worry - Sellers do NOT read the buyers feedbacks, epescially
when you've 60... It could be a problem if you were "-1" for example,
but at 60 really nobody cares.
Don't worry, set this seller as Least Favorite and forget it.

I didn't give up on the order. It was a set that my daughter was missing

You can cancel your feedback and leave them a negative. Then file a complaint
at paypal for any remainder of the cost, if you paid that way.

I think what infinibrix is saying is that buyers shouldn't have to threaten
to leave negative feedback in order to get the seller to perform their basic
responsibilities. If you have to threaten negative feedback to get the seller
to act, then they already deserve it.
Of course, what deserves negative feedback is very subjective. I wouldn't
leave negative feedback if my order is mostly complete yet missing a few small
pieces, but some buyers are more forgiving of small mistakes than others.

Yes, extortion is delineated as a valid feedback removal request. Though I'd
imagine the term “extortion” would be open to broad interpretation in any such
request. It seems to me the site’s intended use of the term within that specific
context, is more straight-forwardness of action. More deliberate quid pro quo
interpretation to be considered an offense, iow.
Otherwise, you could imagine the site bombarded with such requests behind that
which is a more common occurrence between members than the other interpretation
might be. But who knows... I clearly don’t

How is it feedback extortion... simply because YOU say so? I don't think
it works like that either? You don't even say what actually happened, so
readers can decide for themselves if the trans. warranted negative feedback?
Were the parts described accurately & accordingly? Were they ALL included? Did

I guess every buyer is the most upright citizen and they don't ask far to

mean i did anything wrong or right for that matter.....
How is it feedback extortion... simply because YOU say so? No,
this is why i asked the question if BL would consider it extortion, and if they
look at the email(ON BL) to take it into consideration.....nothing more.....people

Nothing wrong with writing to a seller in advance and letting the seller know
that you are STILL(?) waiting for an issue to get resolved, and that you are
willing to leave a negative feedback if it wont get resolved.
If you have wronged the buyer AND have not offered a suitable solution - negative

FEEDBACK is how a buyer and a seller feel about the transaction. Looking at
the feedback you have received you may need to reconsider how you run your store.
No, I don't have the details of the issues or what was done to fix them,
but there are a lot of consistent complaints. If you are worried about your
feedback rating, then you need to change how you do things. You give no details
about the issues or what you have done/proposed to fix them so you may be a bit
premature on your claim of extortion. And if a buyer has to threaten you to
get you to fix things, then you really need to reconsider if you should be a
seller. No, the customer is not always right, but to keep them happy you sometimes
have to act like they are. If you can't do that then you end up like this.
I am not saying you are a bad seller, but your feedback is indicating that I
would stay away from you. BTW I love your custom TACO TUESDAY building. Very
nice work.

If the buyer is unhappy with an order with issues and they leave negative feedback,
I don't see why it should be removed even if they mention feedback in an
email. I can understand something being extortion if they say send me free items
or I will leave you negative feedback. But if it is send me what I have ordered
or I will leave you negative feedback, that is totally different.
What was the issue that they had with their order, and have you resolved it?
This is why a message system based solely on BL and not exposing email addresses
would be preferable. Plus it avoids the problems with offsite paypal payments
to the wrong email address.

How is it feedback extortion... simply because YOU say so? I don't think
it works like that either? You don't even say what actually happened, so
readers can decide for themselves if the trans. warranted negative feedback?
Were the parts described accurately & accordingly? Were they ALL included? Did
you respond, in a timely enough fashion, for the buyer? That's why it's
called FEEDBACK... it's supposed to be subjective.

Nothing wrong with writing to a seller in advance and letting the seller know
that you are STILL(?) waiting for an issue to get resolved, and that you are
willing to leave a negative feedback if it wont get resolved.
If you have wronged the buyer AND have not offered a suitable solution - negative
feedback is warranted. It is not extortion.
|
On ebay even the mere mention of feedback is considered extortion (Not sure about
here?) but either way I don't believe feedback should be brought into the
conversation at all since as a seller I'd rather the buyer know that I'm
fixing the problem off my own back because its the right thing to do rather than
because they assume I'm only fixing the problem because they state they will
otherwise leave me negative feedback! In fact in those situations after resolving
the problem I may even consider blocking the buyer since feedback should not
be a bartering tool! The feedback is for the buyer/seller alone to decide upon
once the transaction process is complete and any issues resolved(or not)
|
I get what you are saying. What I had in mind were the situations where seller
is either non-responsive, not following with his or her proposed solutions for
weeks, or offering a solution that is completely unsuitable.
I might still be willing to accept the fact that a mistake has been made and
allow the seller to address it. Before leaving a negative feedback I might message
the seller, letting know my intentions in advance. Not meant as a threat, but
more as a last-resort in an effort to get the seller's attention.
How it is worse than leaving a negative FB right away?

If these are through Bricklink messages they are supposedly considered. If they
are direct emails then they are not considered.

They might look at messages sent through the BrickLink system, but they don't
consider emails sent outside of BrickLink.

Congratulations on your first neutral, so early in your life as a seller. Blaming
someone else is easy. Just accept the fact you can't control everything.
My advice: reply on the feedback, say thank you and will do better. That will
give future customers a feeling of trust. Simply complaining on the forum will
not.

Sure, but the buyer will have to source the part from elsewhere and pay shipping
on that order - that's why it's a good idea to refund shipping costs.
At least offer it to the buyer (they might say not to worry about it).

Without seeing the order details (qty of parts, order total, rareness of parts
in question, etc), I can not say. Each case needs to be handled differently
depending on its complexity. As a seller I know when the part might be crucial
to the order or not and I will slash the shipping in half or email them and
ask for their input (would they like a full refund). Sometimes it's just
a quick note, hey I'm minus 1 on this part.
That being said if ever sent a customer a Mega blocks product I would give them
a full refund ASAP.

Refunding the entire shipping cost of an order because of a 10 cent commodity
part is a bit much. When postage up to 4 ounces was a flat $1.94 to any part
of the US I could see doing it but that isn't the case anymore.

The first one always stings a little bit. I wouldn't worry about it - this
happens to just about every seller on here sooner or later.
The "I emailed sender but no response" feedback being left when that
isn't what happened is an underhanded tactic increasingly used both here
on Bricklink and on other platforms. It is an attempt by buyers to protect themselves
from being stoplisted by other sellers as being difficult or petty. They want
to ding your feedback score but make it look like they tried to resolve the "problem"
but you disappeared.
Counting neutrals the same as negatives in the seller's feedback percentage
has been pointed out countless times to no avail.
Unfortunately, you will be stuck with this neutral in your FB percentage forever.
There are sellers here with a negative from 15 years ago that is still included
in their FB percentage. This is also dumb.

| When I'm buying, I read the neutral and negative feedback of sellers I'm
looking to buy from and it's often clear to me that it's the buyer being
what I consider unfair or too harsh. This neutral would not prevent me from buying
from you nor would it even give me pause. It'll fall off eventually anyway.
Don't sweat it.

| My two cents:
It's actually very plausible that they did not receive your reply. You said
you emailed them through gmail -- it might have gone straight to their Junk
Mail folder. I'd recommend only ever using the BrickLink system to send messages,
to avoid this issue.
Also, don't trip over neutral feedbacks. Heck, don't even trip over the
occasional negative feedback. I've seen plenty of shops with tons of neutral/negative
feedbacks still getting a constant influx of orders. Most buyers just don't
pay attention to the actual feedback, they just look at the 'score' next
to the sellers username.
