No-one knows - it's a mystery.
Seriously!
It's something we are waiting for Bricklink to work out for us
I have changed this to a catalog request so we can come back and let you know
when the mystery is solved.

that some looked different. Further investigation revealed a different part number
on the side (37773), numbers on the dark gray part (2 variations-(31x9) & (46x9),
and differences in the construction of the main housing. All three parts have
the Lego logo, connect and function the same. Is this known variant are new piece
for the catalog? In the photo 92693c01 is at the top the lower two are 37773.

The new version has not shown up in any sets yet, but we are on the lookout for
it. Once we know more about the new mould, we will either add the alternate item
number if it is similar enough to the old mould or add a new catalog entry. Until
that time, we must wait.
Unless you have the new mould already? In that case, we would need to see good
comparison images between it and the old mould.
Cheers,

I don't know if the suggestion includes polybags, metal boxes and blister
packs, but I can imagine that members also want to be able to search for that,
I for instance searched for metal box once. And I searched for foil pack many
times. If we would change names, I would add something like 'gift', but
not remove the existing packing. I would also prefer to add co brand Blue Ocean
to all sets.

I saw an activity book with a cardboard box attached, maybe a future replacement
for magazines' blister packs, who knows.

Unfortunately you have to go to the co brand list first to be able to search
for them.

PS and it's very hard not to destroy the magazine when taking of these sets,
even the metal boxes are glued and magazines are already damaged in the store

No! There are 3 different numbers. Look at the price sticker.

The price sticker was most likely applied by a retailer, and “there is no functional
difference” other than colour.
In the merged listing please add all the original item numbers as alternates.

Yes, you can see the part in the set image, it is clearly used as %89. However,

Actual dims given for this set seems to be the box dims, not the model dims.
I can give exact measurement, verified on a real model : verified on Stud.io
But this Castle has different display configurations, which changes dims a lot.
I dont know which one you want to put in the database.
Display parameters :
- open/close the walls (positions of the 3 base plates)
- open/closed drawbridge: change 3cm on the depth
- position of some parts: baseplates angles, flags orientation, pin connector
(may vary ~1.5 cm)
The photo display on the box & catalog shows: walls closed / drawbridge open
config
Measurements verified on a real model: (Width x Height x Depth)
walls open / drawbridge open: 65 x 24 x 29 cm
walls open / drawbridge closed: 65 x 24 x 26 cm
Measurements verified on Studio:
walls open / drawbridge open: 62.4 x 24.2 x 29.5 cm
walls open / drawbridge closed: 62.4 x 24.2 x 24.2 cm
walls closed / drawbridge open: 27.6 x 24.2 x 34.3 cm (as seen on the box/catalog)
walls closed / drawbridge closed: 27.6 x 24.2 x 31.2 cm
|
All set dimensions in the catalog are based on set contents in a brand-new sealed
package. This was made this way to ensure a consistent system that could simply
be used across all sets. All of the measurements you list above for different
scenarios is why it is this way.

All set dimensions are based on box sizes, as that is the size of the item when
shipping it. You don't post built sets.
|
I do not contest that the information is relevant, it is already on the *box
entry*
(top-right links: Set Entry | Instructions Entry | Original Box Entry)
From a buyer's perspective, it seems relevant to me to find the dimensions
of a set on its Set Entry.
In the same way as in an Ikea catalog, display picture of furniture with its
finished dimensions, in order to figure the product. The packing details are
a question that arises next.

Built dimensions for sets are not something that bricklink records, though. Not
for this set, or any set.

Thank you for checking all of these, but we actually already knew that all magazine
sets carry the Blue Ocean logo or name.
However, we don't add the co-brand Blue Ocean to them because there are also
other distributors mentioned on the back of those sets, and they differ depending
on the theme and which magazines are published by which distributors (and that
can also change over time). Checking and adding the distributors for all of the
magazine sets in the catalog and every new magazine set would be a massive amount
of work, while that information is probably not really interesting or important
for more than 99% of all users.
Additionally, many magazine sets already have a co-brand (like Marvel, DC, Disney,
etc.) and it is not possible to add multiple co-brands through the set submission
form, so for many future magazine sets it would always be up to us to add the
additional co-brand(s). And as long as we can barely keep up with new regular
set inventories and new parts, it's not the best idea to increase our own
workload permanently.
|
I don’t mind adding them, but I only add them if they are checked. Leave it to
me.

Easiest solution would be to ask the addition of Blue Ocean Co-Brand to all these
sets, all on the back have an imprint mentioning Blue Ocean Entertainment AG
so these appear here:

So that doesn't help either.
Best way in my opinion is to advance with 'magazine gift' in the title.

As far as I know, the magazines are published by different companies in different
regions, but the sets are all produced through the Blue Ocean partnership.

I haven't formed any complete thoughts yet, but the idea has merit. In other

current Bricklink coverage
The extent to which all these items are included in the catalogue depends on
the cooperation of volunteers in different countries. As far as I have been able
to determine, the sets are always added to the catalogue, but the magazines in
which they appear are not always added - they need a separate entry in the catalogue.
how to find these magazine sets on Bricklink?
Until recently you could find them by searching for the theme and add 'foil
pack' to your search criteria.
For example here is the list of Minecraft Foil Packs: minecraft+foil+pack
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=foil+pack+minecraft&tab=S#T=S
However, somewhere in 2023 TLG began to replace the foil packs by paper bags
glued to the magazine. Accordingly, Bricklink catalogue admins understandably
changed the description from foil pack to paper bag.
The result is that you now also have to search for the paper bags minecraft+paper+bag:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/search.page?q=paper+bag+minecraft&tab=S#T=S
Currently there are about 500-600 sets that are part of a magazine. And there's
no easy way to find them all in a single search or a limited search by theme.
therefore my suggestion about how to deal with this
I looked at the way how Brickset deals with the same problem and they have a
very clever and simple solution for it. They just call all the foil packs and
paper bags 'magazine gifts'.
If you want to search for these items you can do so: https://brickset.com/sets/subtheme-Magazine-Gift
My suggestion is to follow this example and change the description of all those
sets. For example
would become: Alex, Baby Llama and Bee - Magazine Gift
Even more nice would it be to make additional changes to the sets catalogue tree:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogTree.asp?itemType=S
and add a new subtheme called 'Magazine Gift' for each of the 8 themes
TLG has magazines with sets. Star Wars already has 45 subthemes so one more wouldn't
hurt
This way we have several options to search for the magazine sets: by keyword
(Magazine Gift) or by browsing/searching for the theme and selecting the subtheme.
Martin
(And of course I offer to help with this. I have lots of free time.)

I'm working on this from the present, moving back. It will take some time
to check all 385 Mini Doll Legs, if Dual Molded or not. It will take even
more time for the parts like this
because they appear in both variants: 'single molded' and 'dual molded'.
Which means the part has to be split and maybe even Minifigures. For that every
single set has to be checked.
Since we admins barely have spare time to dig into the past, this will most probably
not be fixed this year.
In timeline the Mini Doll Legs came
- first single molded (some still are), later dual molded
- first thick hinge (some still have), later thin hinge
The left one on your image is the oldest variant.
It's a Medium Lavender (single molded) part with printed Light Nougat Legs
and Bright Pink Shoes.
The right one is the newer variant.
It's a Medium Lavender Skirt with Molded Light Nougat Legs and Printed Bright
Pink Shoes.

The description for this part says that it can have either a blocked open stud
or a hollow stud. To me, having one entry for a part that appears to have two
versions is a problem. For sellers, there is no way to list the two variations
separately, and for buyers there is no way to know what version they will be
receiving in an order.
This can be a problem if a buyer needs one version, but receives the other. Please
create a second catalog entry so sellers can differentiate the two versions in
their store listings. I would recommend the following...
3688a - Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex with Blocked Open Stud
3688b - Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex with Hollow Stud
|
Hi there! Are you running a string through the stud? That is the only way the
variant could matter for what you are building
|
This is what I am using the slope for. It's the fighter plane MOC I mentioned
a few days ago. The slope forms the nose and I want to insert the following part
into the tipe to form nose probe of sorts.
* | | 58176 Bar with Light Bulb Cover (Bionicle Barraki Eye) Parts: Bar |
I don't know if the Bionicle Barraki Eye will properly fit in the tip of
the slope if it isn't a hollow stud.
|
"Hollow Stud" and "Open Stud" are two completely different things,
and I think you are confusing them. A hollow stud does not have a hole all the
way through, whereas an open stud does. The slope you are looking at _never_
has an "Open Stud", so any version of the slope will function the exact
same. If you truly want an "Open Stud", you should use the following
cone:

"Blocked Open Stud" and "Hollow Stud" are currently in the process
of being merged in the entire catalog, so unfortunately, this will not occur.

Blocked Open Studs and Hollow Studs have a similar footprint/shape. They should
both hold the Barraki Eye the same. Are you perhaps looking for an Open Stud?

Both versions of the part are a Hollow Stud, just that in one the bottom is a
bar from side to side and in the other the bottom is all uniformly plain.

sadly I've found you should probably do this anyway, as many sellers don't
bother with variants even with separate listings.

Yes/no - Sellers who differentiate are supposed to describe it in description.
So you can see it in shop while searching for the part number.

Then when you are on the page scroll till you see the segment name “stickered
assembly”
Find the item you want to remove and select “delete” on the right side of the

Done.

It does look like it has been heavily manipulated. It looks very similar to the
dark brown image (orientation, pip on stud, shadows) but cleaned up and recoloured,
maybe put through a photo-realistic filter.

No, it's just an image with too much light. It's reflecting off the white
