Do not restrict the ability to send invoices in any order status. The statuses
were implemented for seller convenience and different sellers use different processes.
Further, there are times when I want to send multiple invoices, for example if
the buyer wants to change shipping type. I shouldn't have to fiddle with
the order status repeatedly to get to where I can send an invoice.

This is a recent change, please undo it.

I send reminder invoices out when a buyer hasn't paid after a week. Today
I had to reset these orders back to processing to be able to do so. This should
not be necessary.

And meanwhile, we now have 14 recently created entries for mixed color 3937/
3738 Hinges.

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3937c15#T=C

That decision goes directly AGAINST the catalog policy, so I deem those entries
to be stupid and unnecessary.

I believe keeping the 3830c01 single color combos is the right thing to do.
I dislike when admins forget that this is a COMMERCE website first and foremost
and does not exist to maintain a "pure" catalog.

3830c01 has been bought and sold THOUSANDS of times over the past 18 years and
it is clearly the preferred form for both buying and selling.

if I miss the message, then it could be sitting unsold because I never activated
it, which is just creating a new problem.

Perhaps the message could raise a flag on your BL home screen, so it can't
be missed. An email of "You really underpriced this" followed by "and now it
sold..." is more frustrating then deactivating the listing, I think.

How about just a one-button question just before listing: "Did you mean to price
this item much lower/higher than the average?"

To be clear, there was a notice on the main seller screen that there was a message
to be read. It is hard to miss.

Also, deactivated items sort to the top of your inventory screen, so I noticed
it even before I noticed the message, while I was working on inventory.

Not sure why it doesn't catch it as I was listing. Probably doesn't
check the price until I hit submit.

Items with prices far outside the norm are a common topic here in the forums.
These are commonly caused by mistakes, and to help sellers when they make these
mistakes, I would like to suggest that the system automatically notify them of
the possibility of such errors.

This should work for prices both above and below the "norm". How to determine
the "norm" I would leave up to BrickLink, but I will suggest that it significantly
outside of the norm to trigger a notice.

I bring this up here, becaue I just received such a notice for a listing I did
on Amazon. I will include the notice below. This notice allowed me to avoid
having an item sit unsold forever because I priced a $19.99 item at $99.99.

You will see that the notice does not say that I can not list for this price,
just that it is outside the norm and that I should look at it. Options for correcting
the issue are to reprice the item OR tell them that the price is correct as it
is.

Troy

Dear Seller,

We are contacting you because we have detected potential pricing errors in your
Amazon.com product listings. To avoid a potentially negative customer experience
caused by mispriced items, we have deactivated these listings.

These deactivated listings are marked in Manage Inventory with a Status of "Inactive
(Pricing Error)".

To reactivate your listings, click on “Fix Price Alerts” and then on “Potential
Pricing Error” on the left menu to:

- update your offer price, or
- confirm your offer price by setting “Your minimum price” and “Your maximum
price” in the specified columns so that your offer price is within the minimum
and maximum price range. We will alert you in the future if your price falls
outside your price range. If you do not use the minimum and maximum price settings,
our systems will continue to use internal data to help detect potential pricing
errors.

If you have a Professional selling account, you can also use the Inventory Loader
file or the Price & Quantity file to update your prices as well as your minimum
and maximum prices. For more information, search in Seller Central Help for the
terms "Unblocking Your Listings", "Inventory Loader", and "Price and Quantity".

If you have questions or need assistance, log in to your Seller Central account
and click the "Contact Seller Support" link at the bottom of the page. For feedback
about this pricing error program, please send an e-mail to listing-error-feedback@amazon.com.

Thank you for selling on Amazon,

Your Amazon Services Team

I do not mind that flag.
I do mind that it is the ONLY flag.

I would expect to see a UK/USA/hybrid flag next to it for the English language
version of the website. (And a flag for any other language that is added.)

What troubled me was that after the issues of the past couple of days, I awoke
to see a chines flag with an empty box of a link next to it (Since my computer
apparently does not have the Chinese characters on it). I initially thought
"Oh great, the site got hacked again!" The link at the time also looked suspect.
It seems to have been changed now.

Here at work it is not much better. It's a Chinese flag with a Chinese writing
by it, that I cannot read and have no idea why it is there in such a prominent
place on the site.

True, but that is different than steering 90% of the threads into "Well BO does
it..." or whatever. I have never said that there should be no discussion. My
issue with the handful of people that clearly have an agenda.

BrickOwl does do some things better than BrickLink, and I do not think that mentioning
that should be off limits. I do like their wanted list features better. They
can import from various file types. And you can match it up to multiple stores
at once until you find everything BEFORE you place any orders.

I could not figure out how to easily adjust the quantities there though, for
importing something from LEGO digital designer that I needed 12 copies of. And
importing it 12 times didn't work either, as it did not combine lots. So
it is far from perfect.

But to do it on BL I had to spend HOURS manually adding 142 items to my wanted
list. And then several more hours manually placing 13 different orders. And
during the process I had to manually move the items I just ordered to a different
wanted list to keep them from showing up.

So BL is far from perfect here as well. To those that say "BL is just fine because
my sales keep going up!", I will say "Imagine how much MORE they would go up
if improveemnts, such as to the wanted list, were being implemented!"

As I have said, it is not just the major issues, it is every single little issue
that gets turned into "OMG!!!11!!!1!1 BL is on the decline" from the same
handful of users. That is not the same thing as constructive discussion that
happened on some of the issues you mention.

It can get annoying, but people do need to vent their frustration too. I don't
think it is necessary to question their motivation in doing so.

And the discussion of the items I mentioned was often far from civil. Especially
the exchange rates discussions! Those often got quite heated.

While I do not condone his actions, they did spark action on securing the site,
which may not have happened otherwise.

And I think the point John was trying to make was, imagine how much worse it
could have been had they been more malicious. Do you have a recent backup of
your inventory? Imagine logging in tomorrow and your inventory being gone.
Or that all your prices were half of what they were today? Or even more subtle
changes, like random quantity adjustments.

But lets not forget, his actions were not entirely benign. There were changes
made to the catalog and other issues.

All true, but coming into thread after thread saying the same things over and

How do you know that?

I know many features that BrickLink currently has that took YEARS or arguing
in the forums to get implemented.

Think Multiple Currencies.

Think Fixed exchange rates.

Heck, even inventories took a while to get implemented.

Perhaps we complain about things that don't work in the hopes that they will
be fixed.

Eventually.

Thanks that is cool.

I am not really that upset. Hell, most of what I buy is made in China. I do
not even think my toilette paper is made in the US. But my two American flags
on my house are made in the US and I had to look far and wide to find those.
My cat flag is made in China though. If things keep going the way they are,
we all will need to learn to speak Chinese.

Just saying. Not being able to place orders, on a site that is made for buying
and selling LEGO, is a significant issue. They may want to test better in the
future to avoid such problems.

Personally, I was able to place 13 orders yesterday afternoon. And I believe
a couple orders DID come in. My concern is that we do not know how many orders
DIDN'T come in because of the glitch. Your orders may be going up steadily,
but COULD they be going up at a greater rate?

Troy

That was a totally different issue from the tabs issue.

The checkout issue lasted for what appears to be a very specific amount of time
two nights ago (Monday)

The tab issue was related to some changes that were made last night (Tuesday)

Scott

Aren't they both bugs as a result of the same rollout though? Why does it
matter when they were reported? The new features were rolled out on Monday.
The problem with ordering was on Monday. I feel it is safe to say they are
related.

Logic is of no use. Bricklink is in a complete no-win situation at this point.
The 20 or so people that seem to live to instantly criticize them will do that
here in the forum no matter what Bricklink does. (or how well/poorly they do
it)

I think that this is an unfair characterization of what happened.

Sure, complaining about the appearance of the changes made can seem petty.

But complaining about an update that was so poorly tested that it made it impossible
for some people TO PLACE ORDERS? That seems fair to me.

Troy

(For the record, my comments about how the new feedback percentage is calculated
were meant as a suggestion, not a complaint. I am happy it is there even in
its current state)

NOT threaded, and it seems to put the most recent comment ON TOP! So you have

And clicking on a thread opens it in a new window?

What were they thinking?

I am truly frightened about what this means for the future of the site, if this
is the basis of "BrickLink 3.0" and this is the best that they can come up with.

"It would seem so easy" but probably isn't

There is a technical reason that Cancelled posts still show up instead of just
disappearing, something to do with the post numbering that I do not remember
all of the details about.

(Cancelled posts also do not get deleted, they just get hidden from view)

So it is probably much more difficult then we non-programmers imagine.

Nor is tiered pricing the answer. As a buyer, I hate being told I must buy something
in multiples 10 or 50, especially if I need only 15 or 25.

I think you may be confusing Tiered Pricing with the Bulk number.

The Bulk number requires you to buy items in multiples of that number

Tiered pricing is a price break above a certain quantity.

So, if you need 25 and I set the Bulk number at 20, you are screwed as you can
only order 20 or 40.

But, if I set (only) a tier price at 20 pieces with a 10% price break, you can
still order your 25 pieces and get the price break.

Tiered pricing COULD be a solution to the problem. You could set abnormally
high prices for unusually small quantities to avoid losing money on such orders,
but then move the price down to more reasonable numbers as the quantity goes
up.

1-2 pieces could be 30 cents each
3-6 pieces could be 20 cents each
7-20 pieces could be 10 cents each
21 + pieces could be 5 cents each

That way, people can pay the premium if they only want 2 pieces, and you won't
loos money.

The major flaw with this system is that you will get sorted on the BASE price,
so someone looking for 100 will not know that they can get them from you for
5 cents unless they view the lot in your store to see the tiered discount.

Also it would dis-proportionally overcharge buyers that buy low quantities of
a large number of lots. Of course, this could eliminate the need for lot fees...

As the original BL Catalog was stolen from...er...copied from LDRAW, most of

It looks like LDD uses the part/color numbers from the back of the instructions
books. BL has been adding those as cross references for some time now, so that
information should also be mostly there.
