Hi,
the same two suggestions have come up repeatedly:

Part out by remark.

Buyer Orders sorted by condition and item number.

Whenever either option is suggested more "experienced" BL sellers knock down
the suggestion because they claim category based storage is better. So because
of this neither option is voted forward and BL does nothing.

For this reason I am sick of both sellers and BL admin for refusing to look at
the issue directly and except that for some people the two options above would
work better for the sellers based on number of reasons.

Cost of storage
The way a person things
The diversity of parts
The diversity of orders/clients that shop in the store.

A lot of the older BL sellers would have grown with the BL old owner and adjusted
their storage system with what worked at the time, however Lego has 10K+ parts
with variations of many parts. The older sellers would have been used of dealing
with type A and newer variations as they have been produced of a part, whereas
us newer sellers who may have handled type A when building, are having to work
out that when it comes to selling a part with A, B or even C and D variation
of a part it can be come tricky, especially when the new part has a different
number. So making it easy to identify whether a part is older that 2000, 2010
or made in the last few years, using the numbering of parts, takes the stress
out of ensuring that the buyer gets the right variation. I think for this reason
the above requests are going to be repeated and repeated. And older sellers keep
rejecting it - but because the new sellers want the above options it is going
to keep causing friction.

At this point I am starting to look at the alternatives to using BL simply because
I am sick of the smacking my head against the wall. Why am I paying fees when
suggestions are ignored?

And like I say, if a person makes a suggestion, why should another person post
that the suggestion is waste of time? - when a person makes the time to post
a suggestion they have thought about the idea and consider it a good one.

Again just because you do not want it, does not make the idea bad. And I believe
every time someone posts that the consider the idea bad, people refuse to vote
positive because they are not sure on whether they will be trolled for doing
so, and secondly I believe BL admin uses the same responses to ignore the suggestions.

Kind regards,
Dave

Hi,
Got to love that responses from people. For those with a perfect memory it must
be great to know where every piece, or be able to afford a really good storage
system where each part can be found.

Someone us have capabilities which do not include a good memory - hence using
the remarks guides us to where an item is stored, for example I have different
coloured draw systems which are different sizes. Items are stored based on quantity
and part size, so small parts where there are lots maybe stored along side a
large item of one.

Then items like Bionicles and Hero parts I store in bags labelled to the part
in boxes because these are not commonly ordered and are rare anyway.

So when a part is ordered I know where to look for it, bag, box or drawer.

Now when an item is parted out, mostly existing items will have a remark against
it - advising where it is stored, currently the existing remark do not come up
and the inventory option has to right clicked and viewed in a new tab. So when
you part out or are supplying for an order it is easy to collect/store all the
items in storage and add or remove as needed with minimal effort.

Having the option to see the remark at part out and to be able to view an order
by condition and then item number is suitable for some people. It suits me and
others who have also requested it previously and been shouted down aggressively!

At the end of the day, people are diverse, and unfortunately it seems that the
people who are either politically correct or consider that their perspective
is the right and only view shout down and ridicule, or treat poorly those that
are a minority or view things differently.
In my opinion BL is one of the most intolerant sites I have been on, where suggestions
and needs of people who sit out the "standard" are ridiculed or ignored. Just
have to look at the way people speak to each other.

The best example I have is when I simply asked that BL add the word "please"
to the Pay Now" order that comes up when your fees are due. I was so ridiculed
and BL was the first to reject the request.

If you do not agree with something, how about taking the time to asking why a
person feels this way instead of rejecting them out of hand and not "because
I have 50k of parts I know where everything is in my store - so you should too!"
Yes if I have basic items like bricks and plates - easy. But I am not a Bionicle
fan and mostly I could not tell a weapon from a body part but I can tell you
whether I have a part and where it is my store by using the remark information
below each item.

There is an Autistic young man in Australia who could not properly feed or care
for himself, however he earns his living building flat pack furniture - would
you ridicule him if he could not cook you a meal? Or praise him because he can
build flat pack furniture? Neither option is correct - he is simply a diverse
person viewing, and living the world in a different way to others. Looked at
differently some people can cook you a 5 star meal, another can design a 50 storey
high rise - both are separate abilities are not judged on the same level. So
stop judging, or demanding that people stop wanting something because they want
do or be something different!

I think BL is persuaded by the people who shout down suggestions, allowing the
admin to be lazy or accept that variations to the program are unnecessary, and
people are too scared to make suggestions because each post is met with some
sort of rejection. Often coming from people who are a little too aggressive.

So because you do not want a change - so simply do not use the option! I am not
forcing you to change YOUR store or to be different person. The suggestions are
being made because this will help a Seller get items into and out of their store
in the manner they deem efficient.

Meaning that there are more parts available to the buyer at that ONE store, the
seller can get the order out quicker, items are less like to be "lost" and buyers
are then more likely to return to the store and the website because they hade
a good experience. Is that not the aim of every seller?

Please respect that others do want changes and when they take the time to write
a post, they do so wanting some change, and not because they want to get into
a fight with other people on BL or to be emotionally crushed simply because they
do not have the capacity to remember where 50K are located in their store or
they simply think that something would work better for them!

Kind regards,
Dave

Hi,
I have already made similar request, as I need to work out where my 40k+ parts
are in the store, especially the odd stranger item it would be good not to have
to tab the item to find out where it is stored.

However the older BL member hate change and BL absolutely refuses to consider
that we as sellers actually supply the funds that make the website happen, so
you can forget about any changes....

I have added my vote, despite the worthlessness of it!

Good luck with your store - I would suggest you right click the item inventory
and open the item in a new tab - am forced to do this on most new sets on at
least one or two items.

I have also asked BL(and so have others) to provide an option to sort by condition
and item number, but again the old farts on the site, advise that we are "doing
it" wrong if you store your parts by item number rather than category. And of
course BL Admin are happy to take profit from you each month and are not interested
how long it takes to get the parts in or out....in their eyes we are NOT the
customers the buyers are!

Good luck with your store,
Kind regards,
Dave

Your solution is not what I am after - you expect the emails to be seen amongst
many that are received...assuming the email is actually sent and received, the
reliability of emails is at best, not!

So simply put, I want the quotes to be an actionable highlight like the invoices
are!!!!

After all BL should support this, every sale I make is money in their pocket,
versus none for every one that is missed.

Again if you are not supporting the option, and just think your quick fix will
be a solution...fluff off. BL should be thinking on ways to support and enhances
the ability for us to make a sale, and getting quotes is an important way to
be contacted by a customer.

I have made sales via quotes through BL, even when the quote itself has failed,
so they are a good help, and I get extremely frustrated when I see quotes missed,
or at least an opportunity to engage a future client, you never know when that
one client way turn out to be the best long term customer you could ever have
found. And yes they could also be the client from hell too. I choose to think
that quotes are more important than pretty pictures....interaction is more important
when you have give and take - it builds trust!

Dave

Hi,
I would like to see quotes highlighted like invoices are, so that when a quote
comes in I see that I need to act on it - I keep missing them and the sales that
go with it.

I do find value in them, so please those that hate them or wish for them to go
away, please respect this and reserve your negativity for another location and
stay away from this post - we all do business in our own way - thank you.

So it would be good that when I click on the store I get the following messages:

X orders not invoiced
x orders not shipped
x feedback not completed
x quotes not quoted

Thank you,
Kind regards,
Dave

Hi Robert,
I will experiment with the option of exporting...because BL will not in a million
make any effort to address the issue, no matter how many votes are for it - BL
is too busy with crap like mosaics and mucking around with the website peeing
on users old and new - hoping they can get the right mix before it blows up in
their face.....

In terms of store arrangement, it is interesting that you say that common parts
are stacked in the same places, with larger stores, I guess being a very small
store and mixing old and new, the arrangement could be different.

Generally parts with similar moulds have different part numbers these days so
mostly not an issue. For example 3794/b (old) 15573 (new) - after a while you
learn to keep to watch out for them, and keeping them close, also reminds us
that when we select a part is it a, b, or c....

The other thing is that people's minds are all different, I prefer to think
logically rather than have to group items, that way when I need to look for something
I can simply follow the numbers....and for our store there is no common part
to the orders, so there is no way we could group the store into common and uncommon
parts, hence the need to keep it simple and logical.

SO at the end of the day, the option for condition and item number would be perfect,
and by the way, it is also the way we part out, so we can go from one of the
store to the other....for us it works.

Kind regards,
Dave

Hi Robert,
so what your saying is I should change the remarks on 40k+parts so that it easier
for BL...surely the option of item no. and condition is not a hard one to implement,
consider we are dealing with computers - we are in the 21st century I would have
thought - or is have I screwed up and I have set the TARDIS coordinates wrong
again...

Hi.

I appreciate your points as I too come from the era where thank you and please
were much more common then they are now.

But I have to say, the gist of your message goes completely contrary to the idea
of showing respect. I don't say this because I am trying to be a jerk or
incite anybody in a negative way but just looking at your message I see allot
of disrespect being shown towards BrickLink.

Here is what I mean....

By saying this:

"Is it so hard to respect people? Is our manners now so obsolete that a little
respect is too much? I am sorry but I come from an age where please and thank
you is standard, hello and good bye is an acknowledgement of another person,
and saying excuse me and sorry when injecting or creating various interferences
to another depending on the case, whether a little harm like crossing in front
of a person, or making a mistake and providing acknowledgement and sympathy to
the person I may have caused harm to!!!"

And then following up with this:

"Further this is a family site, can we not just leave the big nasty company behaviour
outside the website? And so BL ADMIN - It is so really so hard to add the words
like?:

PLEASE pay now - THANK YOU and maybe the following something like this:

for trading/using/selling through our service...."

You are implying that because BL dose not use the words PLEASE or THANK YOU in
their request for money that all the bad things you mentioned in the previous
paragraphs apply to them.

You are even referring to them as a company with "big nasty company behavior"
problems.

To say all this just because they don't use the words PLEASE or THANK YOU
is quite a stretch.

Again, I am not trying to be a jerk and start something. If nobody else here
reads what you said in the same way as I do then I apologize for taking it wrong.

Jim

Hi Jim,
Your acceptance of the behaviour of people/companies/businesses and your lack
of understanding of my message is unfortunately why we have so many problems
today. The constant bullying and failure to accept that people are fragile and
lack of empathy is creating a world where people are giving up.

Many people, despite the access to communications are killing themselves because
they have lost touch with other people. It has been constantly proven that the
average human is a pack animal that can not live with others. In our current
society we alien each other by ignoring the simple things that make us warm and
fuzzy. By Acknowledging that a person is there or contributes then this person
feels self worth, and that what manners were invented for. It gave people a way
of addressing the support of others in way that was not demeaning or debase.
And so when companies and businesses ignore simple things like, hello good- bye,
please, thank you and the all important: we are sorry we got it wrong, it teaches
the new generation that they can be ignored too.
So often now store employees refuse to say thank you for taking your money, we
give them a job when we buy merchandise and they in turn can buy stuff they want
and need. A thank you is not debasing, it is simply acknowledging that the person
handing the money over for goods has obtained the money they have earned and
chosen to spend the money at this location - when they could have chosen another.
If you think it is acceptable for any company, (and BL is NOT small - just look
at the order numbers and how quickly they turn over), can ignore their manners
then young kids learn to ignore them, or fail to practise them.
So as a society we fail to acknowledge the person we deal with and in doing so
begin to crush their self worth. Look at the story of Pink Floyd's wall and
learn this story, there is so many like it now, each step that a person takes
can be forward, side ways or backward. A step in any direction is determined
by input or decisions internally. A person takes steps bit by bit to destruction
as they feel options and resolutions fade. Thelma and Louise was a story to watch,
here two woman decide suicide is their only option, when you watch how it happens
bit by bit it makes sense. If you watch only the beginning and the end you shake
your head and wonder why they did it.

So in the end manners have their place, you never know whether that polite hello,
good-bye, please or thank you could mean the difference between someone committing
suicide or stepping forward and having a productive life.
If you value people and care then please rethink your message above and learn
how important a simple word can be!!!

Kind regards,
Dave

When hovering over the flags in your orders received list you'll see the
country names.
Set up you your invoice template by using conditional macros to differentiate
between domestic and international orders.
If postage to NZ is different from other international destinations, you can
also set up a special shipping option for NZ and use it through conditional macros,
too.

  Hello,

Can someone explain me why are feedback allowed for cancelled orders?

Example: I have a buyer, who bought hundreds of euro of stuff from me. After
7 days you can start a NPB. After 14 days you can cancel the order if you are
lucky that they do not reply. If they reply, it needs 21 days to cancel the order.

If you cancel the order BEFORE 21 days, they can leave a negative feedback.
If you cancel the order after those 21 days, they cannot leave a negative feedback.

So I usually wait 21 days (or 14 if I am lucky).

Thus, people can block hundreds of euro worth of lego from your store for 21
days. Yes, they will have a penalty, but it's however a big loss for a seller.

I believe that it would be more useful if no feedback for cancelled order was
allowed.

Please if I am not correct help me to be corrected.

I'm not clear what you are suggesting. Is it "Buyer is not allowed to leave
FB for canceled order" or "no party is allowed to leave FB" ?

The first is already covered by the NPB, but you raise a valid concern about
the time required to run the NPB. I have raised this concern many times before.

The second puts us into the funny zone of why can't the seller leave FB ?
If a buyer is abusing many sellers, then how will anyone know if FB is suppressed
?

Ray

Hi Ray,
I would rather that feedback be unavailable for both parties...feedback should
ONLY be based on completed transactions. I only want to know whether items arrived
in a fair time frame, and the quality of parts. A seller that cancels every second
order will have it show in the stats on their feedback. If a seller cancelled
my order I would go to another store which is exactly what happens in real life...plenty
of fish and all that so no need to worry over a bad seller, after a while people
will stop buying in that store simply because they can not get their order....

I too have concerns with feedback. Was degraded and abused by a buyer over the
cost of postage. He had the option of offering alternatives, cancelling the order
or accepting the order, he chose his own option and that was to abuse and rant
to me about how I was ripping him off....
I left a negative feedback because of his abuse, which I think was fair, after
all OH & S should mean that we are protected from customer abuse like any business
in the real world - are we not?
A month later he lies on a feedback and drags down my feedback rating.

Effectively he has gotten away with abuse of me and my staff because he was unhappy
with something, so like all bullies he knows that anytime he wants something,
he just threatens the seller with negative feedback and the seller has to suck
it in.

I was forced to remove the truth, to get rid of his lies. An order cancelled
is an order cancelled - we chose to sell or not - perhaps if there is no solution
then the feedback option should be removed on cancelled orders unless an alert
has been issued....

Or perhaps Admin needs to make an option to protect stores from bullies and terrorists
- hey they step into our lives in the real world, nothing is stopping them here
as well, after all why did one buyer get fifteen negatives and numerous NPA's?
Perhaps it is time that Admin was more proactive - it is well documented that
negative feedback can be destructive! And holding stores for ransom is nothing
but criminal, so therefore the only way to get the message out to other stores
is via the feedback system...or Admin stepping in and agreeing to protect stores
far more rapidly than I have currently seen.

Hi everyone,
was wondering how others deal with the fees from PayPal and banks etc. when passing
them along. I was thinking that a good feature to add to the invoice was for
the client to pick which payment method they would like to use when options are
available. For example A EFT transaction may be cost nothing whereas PayPal charges
higher than say Visa. At this time, without knowing another method I am forced
to contact the client prior to invoicing and offering the choice, to help them
reduce fees, annoying and slowing down the "drive -thru" process.

thanks.
Kind Regards,
Dave
