Everyone has a first LEGO set. weather it is a DUPLO train or a handmedown from
your older brother, every one has a memory of his or her first set. First LEGO
set was the 30013-1 Police Quad as a birthday present. I loved taking it apart
and putting it back together again and chasing invisible villains and bringing
them to justice! Then one day our dog got a hold of the police man and chewed
his head off.... Post your first LEGO set below!

Stefaan

Agreed, I miss him too, even though I was not here when he was building this
fantastic marketplace and community, his spirit is still here.

Agree with Stefaan and John, you are missed and in our thoughts.

I'm still here (kinda). And I'm one of those people Darren mentioned
who had to remove "LEGO" from the name. Yikes, this reminder that it's
been that long reminds me of my perfect answer for ImperialFleet's post.

Will you sell it to me

No, but it's yours if you'd like.

You've got my phone# Kevin, either text or pm where to send it.

Thanks buddy. I will do that. Need to find something for you!!

I received one of these for the catalog work I did. It works great for me and
retains the heat of my coffee well.

Maggie! Good to see you!

Aww, that's nice of you to say, thanks Chris!

Hey there Cali-girl!!!! Nice to hear from you

Thanks, Cali-guy! Hope you've stayed safe with all the rain we've had
recently! It's been a pain (if not impossible) to drive in some places up

Thanks, Maggie.

For the endless catalog work you've performed over the years that we all
have benefitted from, kinda hope you were given more than the thermos. If not,
please let me know if there's anything from our store you might appreciate
as a belated thanks from one member.

That's sweet of you, Cory! I'm good for now-- trying to withdraw
from accumulating more LEGO. Thanks though!

  2022

I look forward to leaving the year behind to start on a more constructive and
perhaps happier new year. Gotta feeling 2023 is going to be a good year, folks!

Had some deeply felt loss and hardship this year and it seemed every time I looked
outward on the world for distraction or respite from my own heartache, all that
I saw was the hardship for others. Believe it or not, for much of 2022, this
forum has been a small space of saneness and a sanctuary for me. Thank you all.

If anyone would like a $5 coupon as a gift, just let me know. It’s not much of
a gesture, but it’s my way of saying thanks. If there’s any other consideration
I can offer from our store, please let me know what that might be as well.

Gonna celebrate with those I care about most tonight. Who knows really in their
hearts, what they’ll be celebrating. But for me, it’s closing the book on 2022
to continue more fully the writing of my new chapter in life. Which I got a jump
on, months ago. Okay, I cheated

-Cory

Your compassion is reflected in your posts and much appreciated, and replies
to those of us who have gone through our own hardships have really meant a lot.
Take care and have a great new year!

Tip, secure the shelving in your store,
I learned the hard way, we had a 6.4 quake and my stock went flying all over,
have store closed for cleanup. My house had a lot of broken glass but the time
consuming store clean up is wicked. I am in northern Calif , we don't have
hurricanes or tornados but it is earthquake county. Has any of you had a flood,
tornado, hurricane, or other natural disaster that affected your store? Please
share your experience

My mother lives in Napa county and she had similar issues after the 2014 Napa
earthquake. We came down to her house later that morning, and as you turned
onto her street you could hear vacuum cleaners going at practically every house
on the block cleaning up the glass, etc. After that my husband went ahead and
attached her entertainment center to the wall with brackets.

As for other disasters, I lost all of my store inventory as well as my own personal
LEGO collection in the 2020 LNU Lightning Complex fires that swept through part
of Northern California and burned down our house and everything we owned. I
haven't reopened my store since then, and at this point it is doubtful I
will accumulate enough inventory to ever reopen.

We miss you, Dan! And as Cory said, Warm thoughts to your mom, Eliska!

You actually knew and remember him when he started the site, didn't you?
I believe you helped him beta test features in the beginning, too.

That's right. Dan floated the idea on Lugnet and, to tell you the truth,
I didn't really think it would succeed, but I'm so glad it did!

I spent the day with my dad. He's in end stage kidney failure so he decided
to take up cigar smoking (because why not!). He has less then 2 months left
according to the Drs. Not sure what i want to say but i guess it's, as we
get older, don't miss all the things we take for granted. They are gone
sooner than you think. Life goes by way faster than you think it does. Sometimes
you just smoke a cigar with your dad because you can! (not looking for I'm
sorry's, just appreciate today, because tomorrow is guaranteed!)

Treasure the time you have with him. I lost my father a number of years ago,
due to throat cance (caused by years of smoking cigars). Now my mother has developed
dementia, but interestingly, we only found out after we had to move into her
house after a wildfire destroyed ours, so as it turns out, there was a positive
side to the situation-- she has gotten progressively worse, and we might
not have known she needed assistance for much longer had that not happened.

And know that you are not alone. See this thread:

Take care,
