I posted a similar good bye tag ...BrickLinker's Guide to the Galaxy: So
long and thanks for all the bricks

But since my health deteriorated so quickly, I really didn't have the time
or energy to deal with ANY kind of sales ...I just donated it all to a couple
of local AFOLs to spread the joy out into the community ...I get lots and lots
of pics of people with ear to ear grins as they show off their new treasures.

The main appeal of Lego is that it is a tangible medium and we already have digital

Yes it would be a good way to bring new people to the marketplace but I don't
think they would be buying any parts.

Maybe we are missing the point and NFT refers to some obscure LEGO thing, like

Ninjago Fan Toys
New Friends Theme
Nexo Fighter Teams
?

Then it makes more sense to ask about this in the survey. I sure hope so.

First thing that came to my mind was New F'in Toys ...then remembered this

Nice!

But excuse me, but IMO, the Minifigs you sell New "Only displayed" aren't
technically New.

I would also sell them Used because their color/aspect may have changed.

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102&q=condition

Minifigures are brand new, taken directly from new sets or were purchased "as
new" in another form such as accessory packs or Pick A Brick and have been handled
only for sorting.

Used but described "Condition just like brand new!" would sell well I guess.

Although if you report a store that sells built and displayed figures as new
you get an email from admin saying that while they are borderline and problematic,
bricklink will not remove them. Things may have changed in the couple of years
since I reported any like that, but the public rules haven't been updated.

So dusty, sun faded figs that have been on display for years are new and therefore
need no disclaimer as to condition since they are new? ...Yuck

I would prefer that people leave negative feedback in a case like this. Warning

I also get wanting to avoid retaliatory feedback, but 1 negative out of 100 isn't
so bad considering how many shady buyers and sellers are on this platform.

Wow, a negative! That is really harsh for a missing 5c part. Perhaps the seller
who is human, is not working on the weekend.

I understand that any missing part is important to the buyer, but you should
judge people how you would expect to be judged. We all make mistakes.

Joe

I appreciate both of your input on this, thanks Crimson30 and Joe.

Joe, what would you recommend in this case then? I'm actually trying to
avoid giving negative feedback, because as you said, people are human and make
mistakes. I also hope to open my BL store soon, and would hope that people will
take the same mercy on me when I inevitably make a mistake. Since I've
contacted them twice over a two week period though, and they aren't reading
the messages (status says not read yet), how long do I wait? Is there another
way to contact them?

Start a NSS to get attention:
https://www.bricklink.com/retractOrder.asp

Really ? Over a 5 cent part ? ....You've outdid yourself Wilbo

The seller may be in hospital and can't answer (since they haven't read
the msg) ....not like they read the msgs and chose to ignore them ...they didnt
read them. They may be off line for any number of reasons ...including compounding
their mistake by not closing their store just before they left.

Seeing Foster back on reminded me of all the needless work and discussion and
NSS that were generated when Foster went MIA when he was off due to hospital
stay

Just had an order for $5, for 112 items. We don't charge any fees over $2.00
part value and postage is at exact cost. Our part prices are currently at average
or below, and then we have 25% off that on all parts. I have just invoiced the
customer and they have had the cheek to message me to see if they can get a discount
off the invoice price because they have had over 100 parts. I politely replied
with no as they are already discounted and even though it may be 100 parts it
is a small value order and we are not a charity and that he was welcome to cancel
the order.
Obviously think our time and costs are free, some people will try anything,
Have a nice day everyone!

Can't blame them for trying... I wouldn't think of doing that, but
as long as they're polite (and stay polite after you refuse), I wouldn't
be annoyed. On a side note, I'm sure only a tiny percentage of buyers realize
how much work is being done behind the scenes; and not just in Bricklink shops,
that's true for all business.

Actually I would blame them for trying. Just more work to have to respond and
explain why we're not going to do it. All for a cheezy $5.00 order.

I've enjoying buying n selling and getting to know and chat with people but
the time has come that I can no longer run a store. 99% of all stock has already
been re-distributed (gifted) to AFOLs who will pay it forward.

So long and thanks for all the bricks!

Filler is only one term. I actually rarely use it. I tend to call them Playwear.

That's good to know as well. For my filling purposes at least, I don't
need to have it one color, just a lot of them.
The 4 stores I found use the filler search term are along the lines of what I
needed. Just wondered if there were more stores or a different way of searching,
as I had seen one store list the bricks as filler (while shopping in that store),
yet they weren't in that list of stores when searching by the keyword filler.

I am located in Canada, and I just received a US$350 order from someone with
0 feedback. They are also located in Russia, so shipping will be slow and expensive.
What steps could I take to protect myself from fraud? Thanks.

Its always worth engaging in some non-essential conversation with them about
their order/shipping options etc... even if that means you have to stretch to
a bit of small talk about how they came to find Bricklink. How they communicate
and conduct themselves may just give you the added reasurance your looking for.
Also if you get off to a good rapport to begin with the transaction is likely
to end much the same way!

Thanks, that sounds like a reasonable approach as well. We all started with 0
feedback at one point.

We may have all started with 0 feedback, but most of us didn't place a high
dollar order as the first one. This order would make me nervous as in order to
be covered, you really need to send with tracking, and most buyers aren't
going to want to pay that ...unless it contains rare items not found locally.

You can take all the photos you want ...complete with an entire detachment of
RCMPs watching you pick every piece, pack the parcel and send it off to Russia
(with Love) at the Post Office. But if you don't send it with tracking, PayPal
won't care. No tracking = no coverage.

And yes, I have shipped to Russia but it was a rare set and the buyer did pay
for tracking. Just not worth the risk ..especially with a zero FB buyer.

As far as I know, "normal letter mail" may have no tracking which means you can
easily click to request for full refund on Paypal without having to return the
product back to the seller.

So you are saying to start a Paypal dispute for "item not received" while you
actually received it just because you don't like a seller's not-answering
/ re-pricing behavior?

Wow.

Niek.

You don't need to provide any reason to Paypal if there is no tracking. Paypal
will automatically believe that the seller hasn't shipped anything to the
buyer, Paypal will
easily issue refund to the buyer no matter what the seller says to protest

I am not talking about how Paypal handles this - I am talking about you finding
it OK (and actually encouraging) to receive what you ordered, and then start
a dispute based on a lie just out of spite.

Very classy.

Niek.

Wow indeed. If I was going to re-open my store for shipping ...I'd be adding

Will this be automatically done or do I have to file a claim with PayPal as well?

I wonder if, when the seller had your shop terms posted, you would be able to
claim anything.

Aside from that, if you copy-paste parts of some other company's terms, you
might want to remove any traces of their trade names...

Niek.

And I'm wondering if the NSS has completed or has only been filed ?

  Hello everyone,

lately I had a lot of problems with orders I placed.
I am not talking about the delays in shipping parts out (not transit time), but
the problem with incomplete orders.

So many orders had parts missing.

I understand that this happens and we are all human, that is also not the issue.
The issue is, that I need to wait until I receive the order, count every lot,
contact the seller just to get an answer like "Yes, I had a miscount, so I only
sent what I had" or "I understand, that is why I sent you two of the 2x2 instead
of the 2x4 you ordered"
On other orders I had a note in the bag saying how many pieces had been missing
on one lot (the order had six lots and all missed parts).

Why do people send out orders without letting me know that parts are missing?
If you know parts are missing, tell me and isse a refund for the parts.

One order had over 100 of the 300 parts missing I ordered. No note, no information,
no refund so far.

I am at the point to leave negative feedback and will have to deal with the negative
feedback I will get back because people can not handle the truth which is that
this is not professional. Even if you do this as a hobby, do it right and at
least let me know and send me my money back. I work for every cent as well, just
like everyone.

What a fun couple of weeks...

Personally, I think a lot of this has to do with Instant Checkout; The sellers
are not prepared to deal with problems in orders and as they have already been
paid, are less likely to be buyer-centric in their solutions. Needless to say,
all of these sellers you mentioned fail.

I can't imagine ever doing something like that to one of my buyers ...SMH

Cant remember the exact time frame ...but so long as you log into your account

loss of inventory (well except for the losses due to inventory Gremlins that
inhabit most stores)
