colour, not an easy thing to do but this is how the brittle blue came about.

Is there a "brittle brown"? I was building a set from the early 2000's and
I had multiple pieces explode in my hand while building. I'd never seen anything
like it. Set looked in good condition otherwise.

It does look like Brittle blue and from the description of how easily it broke,
i believe it is.

As has been said, it is known as brittle blue as even the most gentle squeeze
can make it literally explode in your hands leaving very sharp edges that can
cut.

Sun faded or discoloured blue looks a deep greenish blue but still behaves
normally, not easily broken just like other faded colours.

There is a small market amongst collectors as a curiosity, especially any 2 x
4's, i have the 3001 and some others but not the duplo bricks.

This is a simple matter and could be resolved in minimal time - please implement.

Appears to be a colour quality problem at some time, they regularly turn up,
have some myself.

I'll eventually list mine but I haven't got to them yet, I'll probably
add them with a note under Light grey or LBG depending on a close comparison
at that time.

Only just started to list my light grey items so I've still to decide what
to do with variations other than those I consider yellowed which will have that
note attached.

I have several thousand parts in light grey to sort and list so I will have to
think about this carefully.

Takes an absolute age, good light and examples of lbg parts to sort them, going
to be a mammoth task.

If you read the text at the bottom of the current catalog image, it says "NOT
FINALLY APPROVED BY LICENSOR - FOR SALES MATERIAL ONLY"

That makes me think that the current catalog image is a prototype image and not
the actual book cover that made it to publishing.

a It always makes me giggle when I see the use of the word (and forms

The lip is the base of the window, effectively the external window sill, triangular
in shape and protrudes more on some versions earning the extended lip classification.

Much easier to see if you have both versions.

I've taken a picture of what the inside looks like. There are 8 sets of "walls"
that go up against each other - one coming from the top part of the brick, one
coming from the bottom. My guess is that they're glued together. There is
is one set of walls under each stud.

I split one of my old 7049b's today, and it's clear to me that they're
not the same inside. And 3907c has tubes inside, so it's not that either.
Because both top and bottom of my brick look official, my best guess is that
it's a prototype.

I don't know where I got it from, but my best guess it that it was in a box
of 6 kilos of used bricks I bought a couple of months ago. That box had approx.
1000 yellow minifig heads without print (and only a few other minifig parts)
and 72 blue left doors without a single right one, and around 500 maxifig parts
(heads/torsos/arms/hands but almost no hair/hats). So I bet those parts originally
came directly from the factory in Billund, and that white brick could have been
in that mix.

Posted positive feedback immediately because item was sealed and appeared to
be in authentic packaging. All logos present with circled R and tm etc.
Upon inspection of parts even noticed "LEGO" on all studs. However edges were
sharper than genuine parts, also in general parts felt lighter, minor differences
in shapes of familiar elements. Amazed at the attention to detail of the fakers.
But, in my heart of hearts I know it's a fake set. Instructions and promotional
items all there etc. I don't think my son even knows or cares. I've also
compared the seals and box to "youtube speed build" of the same authentic set
and noted differences in seals and packaging(e.g. barcoded box seals).

Is there a way to report a seller if you believe they are selling fake sets?
I would like to report this person so that others don't fall victim as I
have. I would never want to pass this set or it's elements on as authentic.
I don't even care to fight for my money back, but I don't want this to
happen to others. It has eroded my trust in bricklink at this point.

It would be good to have the ability to switch from one site to another, if only
to check which manufacturer a particular part came from.

I like the idea of a site for each or a combined site for less popular brands,
some are very collectable e.g. Kiddicraft.

Others have proposed they should all be sold here, that's why you might get
a frosty response from some who like me don't want this site changed in that
way.
Once they understand what you are proposing some may see the possibilities.

There are at least two scammers that come back day after day, one of them can
come back two or three times a day.
They get a couple of big orders before they are shut down, so they believe it's
worth the effort.

A store was reported by at least two people, one hours ago and once a short time
ago, they had two orders at that stage ( second report ) and were listed as 1
favourite but it's still open.
This is one of the repeat scammers.

I would suggest that once a store has been checked out by the bricklnk admin
it should be exempt from further automatic suspensions to prevent rival stores
starting a war. And only apply to zero feedback stores.

There are sellers on ebay that do this. They set up account sell a bunch of $1
free shipping items, build up 100 feedback or so, then unload all the really
big items. Its a much sneakier scam. Give them the trust of a decent feedback
score and boom. So they could do the same on here. Actually sell a couple cheap
items and then drop the high $ stuff. Just so they could get past that 1 or 2
feedback rule.

Honestly anything put in place someone will find a way around it. But the main
key is to slow it way down. 75% stop rate would be awesome. Even if every idea
I have ever read about on here were all in place right now, there would still
be people getting around all of them. Its just a fact. Where there is a honest
way to make some money (big or small), just know the bad guys are not far behind.
They can sniff it out. And most times bad guys are one step ahead. You fix a
hole in the fence, they tunnel under the fence, you build it deep in the ground,
they get a ladder and climb over. But you don't just leave the hole and think
they will stop coming though. So something needs to start being put in place
to at least really slow them down, before this place becomes like a mine field.

This would help in searching for scammers, no stock, no immediate problem.
Many scammers launch quickly with stock as they need fast orders, payments and
then leave.

If we could see this on the members listings along with the squares denoting
buyer and / or seller it would allow these to be checked first rather than wade
through them all.
