I just had someone buy all of a particular part in my store. (It was 1000+ quantity.)
I still had hundreds that I had not put in my store yet. I thought that he
might want to buy more if I had them, so I asked, and he said yes.

I counted them out and added them to my store reserved for that member. I don't
add lots reserved for someone very often, but if memory serves me correctly,
reserving a lot for a member does 2 things:

1. It, of course, reserves the lot for just that one member so that no one else
can buy it. (I think it makes it so that other members can't even see the
lot when shopping my store. Is that right?)
2. It sends that member an email notification that the lot was added and reserved
for them.

After I added the reserved lot, on the My Bricklink page, the link that says
"1 Lot in my store inventory not yet notified" showed up. In theory
sending out a notification should only email the member who I reserved the lot
for, but also in theory he already received a notification when I added the lot
to my store.

Is the ability to send out a notification for a reserved lot sort of a function
that's effectively doubled in the system?

Like everyone else, I received an email notification to change my Bricklink password.
I changed it and after I did, I received an email titled "Successfully reset
password."

The password reset worked fine, but the email that let me know it had been reset
said:

Your password was successfully reset.
Details:

Location: Texas, USA

That seems benign, only I'm not in Texas; I'm in Indiana. I imagine
that it's just a small glitch causing this, but considering that Bricklink
just had a cyber attack, a mistake like this doesn't exactly put my mind
at ease.

Several years ago I received

Gear No: 5005111 Name: Pencil, 9 Pack with 2 Toppers
*
5005111 Pencil, 9 Pack with 2 Toppers
Gear: School Supplies
and

Gear No: LE51515 Name: Pencil, Colored 9 Pack Classic with 2 Toppers
*
LE51515 Pencil, Colored 9 Pack Classic with 2 Toppers
Gear: School Supplies
for Christmas, and although they consist mainly of pencils, there are a couple
of regular plastic LEGO parts that you can put on the pencils.

Neither one of these gear items are inventoried. I was wondering if it's
because they're rare items (and also something that would be very unlikely
to be parted out into a store), and no one has bothered to inventory them, or
are they not supposed to be inventoried because then we'd have to decide
on whether to add the individual pencils to the catalog, and that would open
up a can of worms of which items are parts and which are not?

I looked in the catalog for the individual plastic parts that fit onto the pencils,
but I didn't find them. (I could've just missed them though.) I do
NOT want to add the pencils individually to the catalog, but I thought that the
plastic 2X2 thingies that attach to the pencils should be in the catalog since
they attach to studs. Is that an addition that the catalog administrators would
approve?

I recently took apart my Fire Brigade modular set that I had had on display for
years. It appears that the Fire Brigade set was made while TLC had a problem
making dark red parts that ended up being brittle—at least the 1X1 tiles in the
set. 2 of them broke right in half diagonally when I took the set apart.

Does anyone know what type of glue would be best for repairing such parts? I
have some super glue that contains cyanoacrylate. Are there certain ingredients
that I should look for or avoid?

Thanks,
David

I have 2 requests for
[B=9781405288026]
The first is a category change. Please change the category from

Catalog: Books: Informational Book: NINJAGO
to
Catalog: Books: Activity Book: NINJAGO

I own the book, and it is definitely an activity book as opposed to informational.

The second request is to add

Minifig No: njo226 Name: Lloyd (Honor Robe) - Day of the Departed
*
njo226 (Inv) Lloyd (Honor Robe) - Day of the Departed
Minifigures: NINJAGO: Day of the Departed
to that same book.

As precedence for the logic of these changes, please note that the Dutch version
of the book

Book No: b17njo02nl Name: NINJAGO - Geheim dagboek (Hardcover) (Dutch Edition)
*
b17njo02nl (Inv) NINJAGO - Geheim dagboek (Hardcover) (Dutch Edition)
Books: Activity Book: NINJAGO
is is the "Activity Book" category, and has the same minifig associated
with it. Also, in the photo of 9781405288026 you can see that the minifig is
attached to the front of the book's cover. I can attest to the fact that
it is the same minifig that comes with both the Dutch and English versions of
the book.

Oh yes, I almost forgot, please also add quantity 2 of

Part No: 21459 Name: Minifigure, Weapon Sword, Shamshir/Katana (Square Guard) with Capped Pommel and Holes in Crossguard and Blade
*
21459 Minifigure, Weapon Sword, Shamshir/Katana (Square Guard) with Capped Pommel and Holes in Crossguard and Blade
Parts: Minifigure, Weapon {Flat Silver}
to the book along with the minifig.

Thanks,
David

If a hair part in the catalog has "Mini Doll" in the name, does that
mean it's made of the soft plastic?

Set 40158

Set No: 40158 Name: LEGO Chess
*
40158-1 (Inv) LEGO Chess
776 Parts, 20 Minifigures, 2015
Sets: Pirates: Pirates III: Games
has a note in the inventory about the extra 6091.

Part No: 6091  Name: Slope, Curved 2 x 1 x 1 1/3 with Recessed Stud
*
6091 Slope, Curved 2 x 1 x 1 1/3 with Recessed Stud
Parts: Slope, Curved
The note currently says, "Part 6091 Brick, Modified 1 x 2 x 1 1/3 with Curved
Top in light bluish gray..." but that category for that part was changed
from Brick, Modified to Slope, Curved. I assume the note is from before the
category change.

Please change the inventory note to say "Part 6091 Slope, Curved 2 x 1 x
1 1/3 with Recessed Stud in light bluish gray".

Thanks,
David

*
30139 Container, Barrel 4 x 4 x 3.5

just like how you can use a 2X2 round plate as a lid for a 2X2 barrel.

It seems to be very close to fitting, but mine don't snap down all the way
around. I worry that if I force it, I'll end up breaking the round plate.

Has anyone used these as lids for large barrels, and if so, is there a trick
to getting them all the way down?

Thanks,
David

When looking at a part in the catalog, we can see the Years Released (first thing
under Item Info.) I had always thought that that span of years was based on
the earliest and latest years that that part had been in any set in any color.
I also thought that when an inventory is approved and shows up in the catalog,
the span of years is updated immediately, but maybe that's not the case.

Today I noticed that the inventory for

Set No: 10979 Name: Wild Animals of Europe
*
10979-1 (Inv) Wild Animals of Europe
86 Parts, 2022
Sets: DUPLO
was just added. That set includes the following part:

Part No: 11344  Name: Duplo, Brick 2 x 3 x 2 Slope Curved
*
11344 Duplo, Brick 2 x 3 x 2 Slope Curved
Parts: DUPLO, Brick
The Wild Animals of Europe set is a new one from 2022. Since that set includes
part 11344, shouldn't the Years Released info automatically update to show
the most recent year being 2022? It currently shows 2019.

Usually when a new part appears in the catalog, and it is not shown to be in
any sets, the reason is that it's from a new set, and that set has not been
inventoried yet. Once the set with the new part has an inventory in the system,
we can see which set it is that contains the new part.

This 5X5 quarter dome part was added to the catalog in June.

Part No: 76776  Name: Brick, Round Corner 5 x 5 x 3 1/3 Dome Top
*
76776 Brick, Round Corner 5 x 5 x 3 1/3 Dome Top
Parts: Brick, Round
It still does not show that it's in any inventoried sets. That seems like
quite a while for a part to exist in the catalog without a corresponding set
being shown to contain said part. Does anyone know where it comes from?

Hello,
I'm sure that most of you are familiar with the list of parts that are similar
in mold type when looking at certain parts in the catalog. For example, I noticed
that the 1X1 plate with vertical clip is now being made in dark orange,

Part No: 4085d Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
*
4085d Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Open O Clip Thick (Vertical Grip)
Parts: Plate, Modified {Dark Orange}
so I went to view that part in the catalog.

LEGO has changed the way they make the clip a few times over the years, so there's
a list of the mold variants with links. But I noticed they were out of order.
The list appears:

4085 (undetermined)
4085a (from 1980)
4085c (from 1986)
4085b (from 1980)

They're neither in chronological order nor in part suffix order. Then I
noticed that they're in alphabetical order based on the part description.
That makes the 4085b and 4085c switch places.

I would like to propose that the list of variants be put in chronological order.
OR if there is a setting that lets each user set what order he wants
to see it in, someone please let me know so that I can adjust mine accordingly.

Thanks,
David

I noticed today that the description for

*

says "Glasses." I always thought this guy was wearing a slim black robber's
type mask. (After all, the head is only found as part of the Brickster, who
is a robber or criminal of some kind.)

Before I make a name change request, does anyone know of any backstory from the
Xtreme Stunts theme that would indicate that his face covering is anything besides
a mask?

The black mask in the attached photo from A Christmas Story is the style
I think it looks like.

When you use onsite PayPal, there are a couple of steps to go through, and the
final step for payment brings you back to Bricklink for payment confirmation.
Currently that confirmation page shows the icon for Admin_Jaclyn as the administrator.

I think she did a fine job when she was with Bricklink, but I also think that
any user icon that appears on that page should be of a current member of the
BL administrator team. Of course, that page could also function just fine with
a non-user specific BL logo or no image at all.

The image I've attached is from when I placed an order just today.

once they are together?

I feel like the axles are going to snap off of the 2X2 plates if I pull any herder
than I already am. Also, I've never seen a post with a tapered part at the
end like the chassis piece has. It seems a bit like those Bionicle brains and
heads.

60583b Brick, Modified 1 x 1 x 3 with 2 Clips (Vertical Grip) - Hollow Stud

(either version of the 1X1X3 brick.)

The catalog pages for both the brick and the door list other parts that they
are compatible with. I thought that these 2 parts worked together, but from
what I see here, they do not. Perhaps the relationship just hasn't been
added yet? Can anyone tell me for sure if that door will fit into the clips
of that brick?

Thanks,

There's a new part I want to add to the catalog, and so far it only exists
with a printing on it. Is the proper procedure to add a sort of "placeholder"
entry for the actual new mold/part that has no printing, and then add the new
printed part that I have? I will upload a photo of the printed version I have,
but of course, cannot for the base part.

This past week at Brickworld Indy I noticed that all of my tan 16X32 baseplates
were a different shade of tan than all of my 32X32 tan baseplates.

Part No: 3857  Name: Baseplate 16 x 32
*
3857 Baseplate 16 x 32
Parts: Baseplate
My tan 32X32 BPs appear to be the same color as any tan brick or other regular
part in tan. However, all of my 16X32 BPs are slightly darker and more yellow.
The difference was, of course, most noticeable when I had the BPs right next
to each other on my display.

The tan 16X32 BP has been in 16 sets over the years, 14 of which were from 1996
to 2002. I have bought all of my tan 16X32 BPs from various sources, and they
are all the same not-quite-LEGO-tan color. There were a couple of Spongebob
sets in 2006 and 2008 that had a tan 16X32 BP. I imagine that none of my BPs
are new enough to be from those most recent sets.

I was wondering, does anyone out there have any tan 16X32 BPs that you know are
from the Spongebob sets, and can verify if they match the shade of other tan
LEGO parts?

Thanks,
David
