As this has been a controversial topic recently, perhaps we should make it a
buyer select-able option.

Allow the buyer to choose to receive paperwork with the order, or to have the
order shipped without paperwork. The seller would then be obliged to follow the
buyer's selection.

thank you, Nita Rae

I voted no. If the buyer requests one from me I'll send it. Ink is expensive
and sometimes that extra paper bumps it up to the next ounce. I'd prefer
not to make a copy of a 500 lot order.

  Hi all,

when I am in my order page...all buttons are centered above the site.

But using an old fashioned 4/3 monitor, half of the buttons are outside my view,

If all the buttons can be alligned from the left side of the screeen, this would
improve a lot.

Anybody has the same problem?

I can see it all if I bring the zoom down to 80% but, then of course, I can't
read anything.

Yes exactly the same as you and it's annoying.

If i already have PayPal onsite activated, do i have to sign up for PayPal marketplace

Mikael / MikMo

You need to go Settings--Store Settings.Payment methods. Connect to Marketplace.

Please note if you have a regular and micropayment account. Make sure you sign
in with the correct Paypal address for each. I inadvertently switched them (since
the Paypal account that came up to sign in was the one I most recently used).
I figured it out when a payment went to micropayments instead of the regular.

To fix just disconnect and reconnect signing in to the correct one. Payments
are now going to the correct accounts.

Just FYI.

Here is the definition of Ready.

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=41

Ready - Items in order verified, shipping or any additional costs added. Seller
sends an Invoice to the buyer.

It is not possible for BrickLink to verify the items in the order, therefore
the order cannot be marked ready.

Thank you,
Cob

Happened to me once last week; I thought it was me.

Hi Niek - I am a prime example of a Buyer lowering piece price because given
enough information I will purchase the piece at the best value. Why is that
a bad thing?

It's a bad thing for everyone if the price keeps getting lower. Bad for sellers
as lowering margins means no profits and having to close their doors. Eventually
this will hurt buyers as there will be less and less stores carrying the parts
they need, and the parts will cost more than they will now, because of the few
stores carrying parts.

My thoughts,

Plus Paypal fees on the total including on the shipping fees.

I am fully prepared and ready to handle payment at checkout, I already give my
buyer the maximum they will be charged for shipping in my terms (and yes, I never
charge more than my terms state, even if I would lose money). Therefore, the
buyer already knows the cost of their order at checkout, why can't they pay

They are tens of thousands of active store each store with different fee each

Who will take this huge task to solve?

It is already solved. ON BRICKLINK! It just isn't implemented yet.

Right now, hundreds of stores already use the Shipping Cost Suggestion tool.
All that needs to be done is make that visible to buyers (it is currently set
up so that only the seller sees it).

Marc.

They still need to fix that. Depending on where on your screen the order falls,
you can't click "apply" because both bottom corners are cut off.

Seriously, nothing needs to be said beyond it was terribly incorporated into

P.S. I was under the impression that the upgrade would move BL steps forward.
It seems for every step forward another 2 were made backward. We lost in-store
settings that were in place for, as long as, I can recall and that's just
one of many missteps. Why?

While hovering on My BL you are able to see any of the open coupons you have
available to use.

However, when you are shopping in a store, under the current system, you do not
see that coupon until final checkout at the very bottom.

My suggestion is to move that coupon back to the top when you are in a particular
store or in a more visible place to be seen before checkout.

Thank you.

many of them will not be able to purchase on BL due to their negative ratings.

Most, if not all of them, do not realize they can request that feedback be removed.
While it would be a small gesture at least they could continue to frequent BL
if they choose to do so.

Thanks for the heads up Pam. I know that I purchased from the gentleman in the
second link, received the invoice and paid him (google wallet) that same day.
After a week of no communication (multiple attempts on BL and normal email)
I applied the NSS to the order and emailed him requesting a refund. He got back
a few hours later saying he would but thus far no refund. I will submit to the
BL admin to get that negative review off my profile as I did not know that you
could do that.

usefull to have the option of an indicator somewhere obvious in a store to show
buyers if the store owner is currently in the system or not. As a store owner
I could then state on my splash page that any questions could be answered in
"xx minutes" if the indicator shows I'm logged in and "XXX minutes" if I'm
not. I could also set an "expected back in office time" message.
If this could be customisable by store it would be great. Sometimes as a buyer
you just don't know if a store can be bothered to answer your questions or
is simply not there. I know there is a last logged in feature but a) that is
only available to parties who have already transacted and b) it does not tell
you if the seller is still logged in or not.

Robert

How do you define logged in? I often leave a browser window open so I'm logged
in, even if not active. Would there be some timer to say when the seller was
last active on the site, or are you expected to logoff if you are inactive?

Same here. I could be away from my computer for hours and someone could think
I was ignoring them even though I wasn't really there.

I propose an advisory system be implemented to issue notice of heightened risk
for scam and fraud sellers, as well as fraudulent and non paying buyer activity
on the site.

If Admin has the power to prevent even just one scam transaction from occuring,
then it is worth it in my opinion. Not everyone files disputes and not everyone
remembers to follow through with disputes, and some new honest sellers even ship
before getting paid, so scams do often result in real lossea for members.

I propose some kind of scam alert level, similar to the terror advisory color
levels that some developed nations now have around the world to combat global
terrorism.

During times of heightened reported or anticipated sitewide negative activity
(as measured by suspensions, NRS/NSS activity, negative feedback, etc) (or during
media events like the recent Lego Movie, or during holiday times) there could
be banners on all or some pages of the site, with a corrsponding color to indicate
the severity of the threat.

When such activity returns to more normal historical levels, the advisory notices
can be removed.

Advisory notices could be issued with various buying and selling recommendations,
for example to raise your store minimum, or do not transact with members with
X number of feedback, or do not transact with members or a particular country
or join date. Email notices, messages, and forum posts could be issued depending
on the threat. These are just a few basic suggestions.

Of course with such a system there may be the risk of alienating otherwise good
buyers and sellers, but one can always bypass recommendations and proceed with
caution. The benefit of the advisory hopefully will outweigh the risk.

I am open to other ideas or suggestions relating to this concept.

While I applaud your reasons, I vote no. Simple reasons really. Banners across
the pages would be a business killer.

People need to read store terms.

If it's too good to be true.....

No one here likes it when a buyer gets taken advantage of. People on this forum
are pretty savvy and are excellent at weeding out the "takers".

(Below is the solution to fix the missing tabs problem that currently exists
on Bricklink. It is a copy of the message I sent to admin. Posting it here for
more visibility. It took me longer to make the images and type the note explaining
the solution than it took to find the problem...)

The root cause is directly related to the addition of the 'link' that
switches the pages from Engling Chinese. It forces the HTML table to take
up more space than is necessary, thus pushing the table the contains the tabs
out of the viewable area. The images show the code - it is a true (and badly
done) hack.

Anyway, enough commenaty, here is the fix:

Bricklink Developers & Admin -

Attached is an image detailing the a solution that will correct the tab rendering
(hidden tabs) problem experienced on certain browsers. The problem is a rendering
difference between browsers related to how they interpret and implement HTML/CSS.

------------------------------------------------
The Root Cause is a combination of the following:
------------------------------------------------
1 - HTML4 v HTML5 support on BL (related to Splash page problems as well)
2 - Old ASP framework code v Modern HTML/CSS standards
3 - A really bad code hack to provide the link to switch to Chinese BL (I mean
no offence - there is no other way to describe it)
4 - Insuffient testing before release.

--------
Code Fix:
--------

#1 - Change the table tag's CELLPADDING attibute from CELLPADDING="5" to
CELLPADDING="0" (It is not needed, but the 10px vertical pixels it frees up are
needed

#2 - ADD "margin:0;padding:0;" to the style attribute of the UL tag utilized
to implement the Chinese language switch (most browsers will automatically do
this, others will not until forced to. This will stop the parent table from
pushing the tabs out of the viewable space in the top frame.

#3 - Add VALIGN="TOP" to the TD tag that wraps the section containing the Store
flags. This will force the flag images to the top of the table, similar to what
is done with the BL logo

Another temp solution is to set SCROLLING="YES" for the FRAME that loads the
store banner and tabs. This would also allow folks to atleast scroll down the
tabs

The Permenant solution is to fix the code hack used to implement the Chinese
language page link. It is improperly implemented - you shouldn't be using
UL LI to create the script link, and there are better ways to align the link
beyond using 10x not-breaking spaces...

Thank you
Rodney Pearson

I do not mind that flag.
I do mind that it is the ONLY flag.

I would expect to see a UK/USA/hybrid flag next to it for the English language
version of the website. (And a flag for any other language that is added.)

I think it would be good to have little flags for every other language BrickLink
has been translated into. As for why the Chinese flag is there (to the exclusion
of all others), my guess would be that the new owners intend to more aggressively
promote BL in the Chinese market.

Thor

Yes, it would be nice to include the Dutch, French, German, Polish and Spanish
speaking countries, and others that have been members of this site for years
along with the Chinese symbol.

I do try to maintain perspective on this sort of thing.

Just yesterday, at work, the programmers made a requested change to the database.
But when the update and patch were complete, a major function of the system
was broken.

So I understand that glitches can happen in anything as complicated as Bricklink.

But here is the difference. In my work, I contacted the systems support person,
told him of the new problem, and it was fixed in less than 10 minutes. Everyone
got back on line and did their work.

Here, today, I contacted Helpdesk first thing this morning to inform of the problem
with tabs.

no action yet. No posting from admin or anyone else official about what happened.

That is not good, and I feel it is reasonable to expect better.

You're right. The largest area where they are lacking is again communication.
I'll say it again communication; and as has been mentioned testing.

While I may not agree with every post I honestly don't think there's
one person that doesn't want BL to succeed. They want it to be better for
the buyers, want lists, etc., and more efficient for the sellers. And where is
CS Sean, he was getting pretty good at answering some questions.

Perhaps they need to stop the tickets from expiring after 30 days unless it has
been addressed.
