Have you seen this, Warren?
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2566&q=My+Collection

Yes, and I've added a set into my collection, but again I don't see any
value and totaling of contents of my collection. the whole purpose i would use
this feature would be to know what my collection is worth, possibly to use for
insurance purposes.
thanks

Good to know. Thanks.

Haven't used or explored the feature yet, myself.

It strikes me as odd though, that such basic and useful abilities were not considered
during development? Maybe because they conceived the feature as a alternative
to the sellers ability to maintain inventory? Which has been requested by straight
buyer account holders, for sometime. But the whole insurance point kinda sidesteps
that.

It's still a relatively new feature, but maybe there are others that have
accumulated enough experience to help you. I'll be following your post anyway,
to see if I can glean more info on the new feature. If it doesn't exist and
as it's new, maybe open a suggestion here in the forum for the Admins to
consider, in which you bring up the "insurance" question.

-popsicle

I hate to admit there is another site that offers this funtion, I was hoping
to not go outside the comforts of bricklink so hopefully it's possible to
do the same here. Thanks popsicle!

That is very cool! I really wish Lego would offer "official" lighting kits.

Thanks for sharing @Dolfan413

You're welcome, and I love the way the light kits look, but I don't have
the patience to install them

Where do you use the cutter for? I hope it's not there to create baseplates

Hadn't before, but now...

Nice!

Thanks for sharing, Warren. Any way of getting more individual, perhaps bigger
pics files? I'd really enjoy getting a better look.

I tried to upload a video of that room but it wouldn't let me, teach me how
to upload more and I will.

Entirely possible, that's the reason.

But "cancelled" unilaterally? You’ve been asked to approve the buyer’s cancelation
request, correct?

The succinctly worded rules laid-out for buyers in this regard: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=79

Proceed as you will, Warren. There’s no “permanent record” to concern yourself
over, not in the sense you mean. There are however, other considerations for
the seller from irked buyers in these circumstances.

-popsicle

I already cancelled the order, I meant the part about him saying I added charges,
I don't like that he can say that when it wasn't the case.

I really did not anticipate such negative, unproductive responses to a simple
suggestions. Asking for a better descriptive system for used parts is hardly
akin to calling for a 3rd party grading company, and your reply of such shows
that you are not commenting here to be productive.

Sorry I offended you with my suggestion.

In Suggestions, edk writes:
  In Suggestions, revfds writes:
the thing I dislike most about ordering from this site, in how hard it is to
control the quality of the pieces that I get.

And I don't think loose pieces should be categorized between "new" and "used",
because all loose pieces are used (Yes I know you can order them individually
from Lego at times, but functionally when you buy lego it comes in a set, outside
of that set they are used).

What there needs to be is a grading scale, either number based (1-5) or description
based (Comics use words like Mint, Near Mint, Very Fine, Fine, etc; playing cards
will use words like Near Mint, Lightly Played, Moderately Played, Damaged, etc).

Sellers would be forced to classify all their pieces into one of these conditions,
and then I would be able to filter out conditions that I thought were unacceptable.

Create a clear cut visual guide for conditions, and award disputes based on that.
I sell cards on www.tcgplayer.com and knowing that buyers can win disputes if
I send them cards that are worse then they wanted, I make sure to put forth the
effort to accurately grade the cards when I list them. Yes it is more work, but
I have never once had an issue with a buyer buying a card from me that they were
unhappy with because of the condition.

In my first batch of orders on this site I got several pieces that were damaged,
etc. It was really frustrating, because when doing mass purchases on this site
it is seemingly impossible to filter out bad pieces, and when you let the site
build the orders for you, its hard to see and notice all the "notes" that sellers
put on their items.

So I don't feel justified in blaming a seller because I received two saddles
with broken clips, forcing me to order two new saddles, because they noted it
on their items. The issue here is the functionality of the website to convey
that to me, and allow me to filter their items from my potential orders.

I honestly would suggest you take a hard look at www.tcgplayer.com Coming from
card games, I was really surprised at how similar the process of buying/selling/collecting
individual cards/decks/sets is to Lego pieces/sets. Like, functionally they are
completely the same, and TCGplayer is a really well honed marketplace (nothing
is perfect), but learning from what they do right would greatly improve your
already fantastic site

At what cost are you willing to make this happen? If you were the one sorting/storing
hundreds of thousands of used parts you would have a clue. It is enough work
to store 2 sets of inventory and keep them separated along with occasional lots
of filler grade let alone 6 different grades (1 new and 5 used). If doing this
multiplies my time by 6 times guess where that will be made up? the price of
the parts of course. Maybe we should start a grading company to send the individual
lego parts to so they can assign a 3rd party numeric value to them.

Hi, You're speaking to people that have been doing this for a long time,
so try to understand they are going to be defensive and not be offended by that.
I have never had an order compiled by bricklink and to be honest didn't even
know that was a thing. Of the ten's of thousands of cards you have, what
percentage of them sell for under 5 cents? I've wished at times that there
was a way to say a part was discolored or had a mark or scratch on it but I wouldn't
know where to begin to put a numbered value on any of that. I think the notes
and comments on the parts does a decent job of letting people know condition
and the higher the value of a part the more description there should be. So for
the thousands of sellers, and the millions of parts, it really comes down to
communication and doing the leg work to not be disappointed.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

OK, I went ahead and worked with the Catalog Admins to make all of these figures
easy to find with a simple search.

If you run a search for "big figure" now, all of the larger figures that LEGO
has made will be returned in one search.

Hopefully, when the tag system for the site eventually gets rolled out (and I
have been told that it is coming), we can add a tag for this group of figures
and remove the term "big figure" from the names.

For now, though, I hope this makes it easier for you and others to complete your
collections of these figures.

Cheers,
Randy

More complete, but still not all.

This is exactly why BrickLink needs a tag system, because the complete list can

Yes, and if they cannot do tags then maybe consistency in naming. Such as having
bigfig in the title, like microfigs do.

Sounds like a plan. I will see what I can do about that.

I think all sellers should be required to ship their orders in corrugated cardboard
boxes. I recently received an order of 24 NEW

Part No: 59349 Name: Panel 1 x 6 x 5
*
59349 Panel 1 x 6 x 5
Parts: Panel

from a 5000+ feedback seller. All 24 of them were thrown into a Ziploc baggie
and that baggie was crammed, along with the other lots in the order, into a flimsy
bubble mailer. Well, you can imagine what the surfaces of those panels looked
like after be squished and tossed from conveyor belt to conveyor belt as they
made their way across the country before being shoved into my mailbox. If they
had been shipped in a cardboard box they wouldn't have received nearly that
amount of abuse.

Therefore I suggest we force all sellers to ship orders in cardboard boxes.
Some orders, such as one or two figs, would probably be fine in a bubble mailer,
but rules are rules and we must enforce them uniformly and without mercy. We
must protect the entire community from the few sloppy sellers that are out there.

If a buyer receives an order that is not in a cardboard box, he must send a picture
of the package (with mailing label visible) to Admin. Once Admin approves the
picture, the seller will receive a non-negotiable negative feedback. If three
such feedback are received then selling privileges are revoked.

I ship 99% of my orders in a box already, so I don't see why this would be
such a big deal.

(yes, I'm making a point but I'm not making up my experience or my store
practices)

Everybody keeps using price as a reason to vote no, with the new USPS rate chart
up to 8 oz. is basically the same in the US. So I ship everything in that range
in a box. but even if it's above that, 3 oz's more to be in a box is
roughly 30 cents more. I'm pretty sure most would pay 30 cents to have their
package arrive in better condition! Now international rates might be a different
story
