Yes. You can go ahead.

Do we have any way of looking for which ones we lack? At this point I realize
they are EVERYWHERE, but will we be able to tell when it is done?

I don't think we will know when it is done or really care if it ever is.
We just want to get as much information into the database as possible and have
a resource for all those people who want to know what comes in those little cardboard
sleeves without having to open them to sell.

Cheers,
Randy

Another nice catch!

I looked over the "Inventory Change Request" help page, and it seems that there
is no mention of this at all. And there really should be. I will go ahead and
update that help page sometime today.

Thanks for your help!

Sets: Town: City: Hospital

* Change 1 Part White 6153b Wedge 6 x 4 Cutout with Stud Notches {match ID 3 to 0}

Comments from Submitter:
The match ID should be removed as there is no longer an alternate for this part in the inventory, but I don’t know how to do that, since leaving it blank means “no change”...
So I set it to 0 in this request.

Nice catch! That error has been in the inventory for almost 11 years!

Setting the Match ID to zero was the exact thing you needed to do, so you handled
this request perfectly.

Thanks for contributing!

But, I definitely don't know if that image was always correct for that part,

It is most definitely *not* a stupid question. If I was king around here, there
would be a place we could test this stuff without affecting the live data and
have sellers/buyers give feedback. Unfortunately, we don't have that. Maybe
we will someday...

no wonder that the corporate BrickLink employees and developers don't want
to try anything new, either. Everything that is tried receives just whinging
and moaning from the user base. I think I now have a good idea about what drove
Jaclyn away from the site.

Cheers,
Randy

Hi Randy,

The problem is that it was not just an idea you were trying out.

Actually, yes it was. We were trying it out for an entire total of two days.

It started to be implemented without notification or explanation and caused issues
for sellers and buyers.

We were implementing changes so that the user base would have something to comment
on when the idea was communicated to the user base in a couple of days. That
got sidetracked because someone noticed they were being added to the catalog
after one day. As I said, not a big deal, because we got the feedback we were
looking for earlier than planned and have made significant changes already. Also,
it had yet to cause any problems for anyone. The people that were testing the
idea came up with great constructive feedback on what was happening behind the
scenes, and that feedback was very welcomed (especially from member yorbrick).

A user had to find out and made a comment about it.

A user found out while the idea was being tested in the first two days. An announcement
was planned for today or tomorrow once the initial work was done. So, a total
of maybe four days from initial work to completion of testing work to communicating
with the user base for feedback. A pretty short timetable that was interrupted
by a user that was "snooping" around.

Most of the 'whining and moaning' from the user base, not just to this
'idea' but more in general, is about not communicating to said user base.

Did I mention the communication part was coming within a day or two? And am I
or Marek or Russell not communicating now? Do not confuse the BrickLink corporate
lack of communication with the volunteer admins who communicate very regularly.
Just have a search through the forums and you will see that the volunteer admins
are very present and remain accountable to the users here.

Time and time again the user base is confronted with changes that are not always
understood and/or apreciated. In some cases the user base does not even understand
why something needs to be changed, beacause it is not allways clear what the
benefit of it is.

For this, it would have all been explained in our announcement message that did
not get a chance to materialize due to someone interrupting the process.

And as Russel said, it gives a problem in the part-out system which will have
to be fixed, someday (if ever), and that also is a point for concern.

Yeah, we heard that. That is why things have already been rolled back due to
the feedback. I took almost three hours of my personal time last night doing
this by myself ASAP. See, us volunteer admins can get stuff done quickly, unlike
the corporate employees. We also take the feedback we get seriously and try to
work with everyone as best we can as we try to add new things to the catalog.

Many things on Bricklink have been broken and a fix is never heard of. So introducing
a new idea while older broken things don't get fixed is a very big issue
for the user base.

The volunteer admins have no choice but to move forward with ideas that are needed
for the catalog. We have the time and energy to try and make positive changes
for the user base. The corporate side does not. Eventually, the corporate side
will catch up (from things I have started to hear), but us volunteers have no
say and no way to do what is necessary to the code. We work in the systems we
have.

And I know that you can't fix the broken things, but do understand that for
me (as a user) it is very annoying to see.

I am sorry to hear you say that. I am also annoyed at the lack of support that
I and the other volunteer admins get from corporate.

Russel stated that is was good for the future of Bricklink, but there are so
many things, that if ain't fixed are quite damaging for the Bricklink future
that it's sometimes better not to introduce something new before something
old is working in good order.

I agree, but once again, the volunteer admins have the time and energy to try
to do things that help the user base even if the corporate side does not keep
up. We will keep trying new ideas, also, as the Catalog Roadmap lays out:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2476

Remember, this isn't a developer roadmap. It is a roadmap for things that
the volunteer admins can do and solve.

  Regards,
Bas

Thanks for your comments.

Cheers,
Randy

Wow! Just seeing that cardboard cape boxes have been added to the catalog.
I usually would prefer to refrain from making a derogatory comment on something
so trivial, but I have to say, that is a new kind of stupid. Give me a break.

It is truly bizarre. There is this sleeve, for example:

Part No: 6268510 Name: Cardboard Sleeve 6268510 with Contents
*
6268510 (Inv) Cardboard Sleeve 6268510 with Contents
Parts: Cardboard Sleeve

which contains two minifigure capes. However, this sleeve which is called "Cardboard
Sleeve for Set 70837" doesn't actually appear in set 70837 since it contains
minifigure parts, which are listed with the minifigures. So we now have an entry
for a part that is not included in any sets and so is unlikely to ever be listed
in that way.

Then we have the same where the sleeves contain a single cape, for example:

Part No: 6259727 Name: Cardboard Sleeve 6259727 with Contents
*
6259727 (Inv) Cardboard Sleeve 6259727 with Contents
Parts: Cardboard Sleeve

Again it doesn't belong to any sets despite the name, since it belongs to
a minifigure.

It seems to be a case of making a rule then insisting on sticking to it for all
parts and sets, no matter how stupid the application of the rule is.

I've got a great idea! To follow suit, lets start cataloging and selling
the numbered plastic bags that the pieces come in in each box. Actually, why
stop there, lets catalog the empty collectible minifig poly bags too. After
all that's technically LEGO is it not? Give me a break!!!!!!!!!

You do realize these catalog entries are for the sealed cardboard sleeves with
contents in them, right? Because I don't think you do...

removing the set names?

Thank you for this suggestion. We were trying to come up with a way to not have
to repeat information in the names, but I think this idea is the easiest solution.
We will have to come up with another way to track what sets these come in in
the meantime. I am guessing the additional notes for the sleeves will probably
be the way to go.

Cheers,
Randy

If the actual parts in the sleeve are listed in the inventory and the (sealed)
sleeves are listed as an alternate for each of the sets they are in, won't
that information already be stored in the catalogue in a meaningful way? Then
someone can look up the number on the sleeve and search for it. It won't
be in any sets as a regular part but will be listed as an alternate for all the
sets it appears in. That way, the set numbers need not be kept in the title or
as additional notes.

Or have I totally misunderstood how alternates work?

Yes, you have misunderstood alternates. Alternate parts are parts that are completely
substituted for other parts in a set. These sleeves come in every set they came
in.

As Russell said, we will need to wait for new functionality before we can ever
add these to inventories in a meaningful way that makes it easy for sellers to
part them.

Cheers,
Randy

  Hi everyone,

is that really necessary? With these cardboard sleeves in inventories it is no
longer possible to see the complete part list at once. You always have to open
an extra inventory to look up what is inside the cardboard sleeve (or sometimes
even two or more extra inventories). Not very user-friendly, imho...

I also don't see a technical reason why cardboard sleeves should be part
of an inventory. They are not listed in official part lists and if they contain
more than one part, adding them will bring the piece count down.

Examples:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=10220-1

In any case, we have heard all of the feedback and will be reversing course on
the inventories. We had planned to make an announcement in a few days concerning
this to ask for feedback on what had been done, but we wanted stuff in place
for users to look at. So this thread was not a complete loss to us, but you did
jump the gun on us, Jonas.

Please bear with us as we work out the kinks.

We make sure that all parts are the correct variants with the inventory submitters
before approving the inventories, so this part did indeed come in the set.

I noticed that all the videos you posted are from users in other parts of the
world rather than the North American market. 2436b is still being used in the
North American market, and the user who inventoried this set is from North America.

Because it's not white. It's more like Very Light Bluish Gray. Please

It is white printed on dark plastic, so some of the plastic color is transmitted
through the paint, making it look less than white. However, the paint is definitely
white.

The inventory has not been completed by the submitter of it. When it is complete,

Removing or Changing Extra Items - Extra parts can vary depending on when
and where a set was manufactured, meaning that some new sets may include them
and others may not. The quantity of these extra parts can also vary. Extra parts
are typically not removed or reduced in quantity unless it can be determined
that they were originally added or increased in error.

removed and this request will not be accepted.

This is easy to miss if you are not comparing to another thick icon with hole. A pic will be attached.

The set is right in front of me. I just didn't have a chance to go through
it yet. I concur with your assessment.

on light trans blue versus trans blue wings. After going back and forth between
the two pictures of the minifig with wings in the Bricklink catalog I believe
these are the trans light blue ones which makes the minifig the sh517a version.
Please have a look at the photos along side 1X2 trans light blue plates to see
if you agree or have input.

My camera is not great at close ups so hopes these are discernible.

Thanks much

They look like Trans-Light Blue to me. However, if you want to know for sure,
get a black light. Trans-Medium Blue fluoresces *very* strongly under black light.

The LEGO replacement parts service and the parts list in the instructions manual
both list the clips as coming in the set even though the official part count
on the box states the set only contains 114 pieces and the clips are not shown
to be used in the actual build instructions. Therefore, the official part count
on the box is wrong and I do agree that the parts should be in the Regular Items
section. I will update the inventory and add an inventory note about the part
count on the box not matching the true part count.

Cheers,
Randy

I just inventoried this set and was wondering why the two clips were only in
the extra parts. I agree that they are not used in the instructions, but they
are visible in the front cover of the set and the instructions (and image on
bricklink) to hold the ammo on to the leg. It looks to me that it should be part
of the normal build, but has been forgotten in the insctructions?

Anyway, a lot of people list sets without the extra parts, so these parts might
be missed if they are not included. Maybe it's better to include them in
the set inventory and remove them from the extra parts?

Comments from Submitter:
Despite this part being in the official instruction books, it is not used in the build. Since it is already indicated in "extra parts", it can't be in both categories!

I'm fairly sure I remember this not having a special cot blanket, instead the towel was used.

I spent a lot of time researching this, but I cannot find anything definitive
to guide my actions on this request.

The set and box images that I can find seem to show only two yellow blankets/towels
of some sort, but the current inventory contains two yellow towels and one yellow
blanket. Therefore, I believe *something* is wrong. Whether there are supposed
to be only two towels or only two blankets or one of each is unknown. What makes
it even harder is that I cannot find any instructions or official part count
for this set to help me out.

The inventory on Peeron states that the set has two towels and no blankets and
was composed from a MISB set. That piece supports your claim to remove this blanket.
However, the blanket was added to the set by a past Inventory Administrator.
So, once again, we have conflicting data.

I don't know what the right thing to do here is, but my gut tells me not
to do anything without better evidence.

Therefore, this request will not be accepted at this time.

Cheers,
Randy

Hi Randy,
There is something wrong. I'm working on our inventory at Rebrickable to
try to get our part count correct too.
Here is a page from a LEGO Fall 2002 catalog showing the part count as 73.
Hope that helps you.
Thea
Always An Adventure!

Thank you, Thea. I appreciate the post!

Unfortunately, the advertised piece count of 73 pieces is even *higher* than
the current inventory here. Looking at this request, I would have expected to
see a piece count of 71, but this throws yet another wrench into the mix.
I wish these older sets geared towards girls were easier to get a hold of.

I will let you know if I find out anything else.

Cheers,
Randy

The BrickLink piece count is currently 72 parts and 2 minifigs for a total of
74.
These are only 1 part "minifigs" because currently the clothing is accounted
for in the regular inventory.
If you remove the cot blanket, which really doesn't belong, you will have
a total of 73.

I found the missing part for the Rebrickable inventory - the handwarmer/muff.
Now to find someone who owns one to submit a photo of it to Rebrickable.

Thea

Paint myself embarassed...I forgot to add in the minifigs! (smh) Thanks for that
kick in the pants.

Well, it is looking more and more like that blanket did not belong. I think I
will end up removing it based upon the advertised piece count and the Peeron
inventory.

I am feeling a bit sorry now that I had already rejected this request. Oh well,
I can only do so much with the information that I have at any given time.

In any case, thanks so much for your help, Thea!

Cheers,
Randy

The evidence will be uploaded soon.

Did you forget to upload the evidence?

Two more comments:
- I don't know if the bricks 3002, 3003 should be kep as alternates or not.
I don't have any evidence for them coming in later releases.
- I had previously submitted a request for adding one red 1*1 tile as extra.
I gave a reliable evidence. My other inv. change requests were accepted using
the same evidence. But that one was rejected with no comment. I would like to
know why (and it helps me to know).

Reza -

What about the clip lights? I see the thick-ring versions in the photos here:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=558274

The other Inventory Admin, Paul, is also the one who added the alternates to
the inventory back in 2011.

Did this set ever come with the thin-ring versions?

Cheers,
Randy

1-2) Both of mine were black
4-5) All of mine were 6538a
6-7) I got 5 As and 6 Bs.

I have a few pics that I took to document it as I sorted it out, but not sealed. I also got 8 light gray 2736 and none of the similar parts. That doesn't seem to line up with the alternates here, but I don't know how to work on that.

Note to Paul:

Do not yet do anything with this inventory. It is one of the few known redesigned
sets in the catalog that has not yet been updated using Match ID 99. Before we
even consider these changes, the inventory will need to be updated to the new
format.

Single parts of the Sail

I agree with your assessment to add these as Counterparts, but for right now
we are not adding separate plastic parts from plastic sheets to the Counterparts
section. This will be part of a catalog project to standardize the way parts
in the Plastic category are named, numbered, and handled in inventories.

At this time, these requests will not be accepted.

I have accepted these except for 93273pb101R and 93273pb101R. Those are exactly
the same part, so should not have separate left and right side entries in the
catalog. See also image of sticker sheet with four identical stickers for these
parts.

*
40228stk01 Sticker Sheet for Set 40228 - (27105/6155610)
Parts: Sticker Sheet

Agreed, I think my eyes kept crossing when looking at the piece and the instructions.
Should I submit a new request to add 4 once the merge request is processed?

Yes.

Thanks,
Randy

Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 3

Comments from Submitter:
I have never submitted a request before. How it seems this inventory should include two trans-orange (possibly trans-neon orange) 1x1 round plates as shown on page 52 of the instructions.

They are part of

Minifig No: sw0533 Name: Buzz Droid with Zipline Handle
*
sw0533 (Inv) Buzz Droid with Zipline Handle
Minifigures: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 3
which is already included in the inventory.

This request will not be accepted.

Comments from Submitter:
A newly opened box contained these parts in the quantities as displayed on the box and in the instruction manual (2 of the first three parts and 4 of the wheel part), there were no extras of these parts included in the box.

From the Additional Information About Extra Items section of the Inventory
Sections: Regular, Extra, Counterpart, and Alternate
help page:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562#extraItems

Removing or Changing Extra Items - Extra parts can vary depending on when
and where a set was manufactured, meaning that some new sets may include them
and others may not. The quantity of these extra parts can also vary. Extra parts
are typically not removed or reduced in quantity unless it can be determined
that they were originally added or increased in error.

These extra parts were found in some sealed copies of this set so they will not
be removed and the requests will not be accepted.

As you can see on the picture, the men is not the same on both sign
Should I create a new part, or request to add an additional note ?

It will be difficult to know which part goes on which set.

Pattern is completly different. Add new part.

Okay,

Shall I create 2 new parts for "Thick" and "Thin" ?
Actual 649pb10 should be "unterminated"

Yes, create two specific entries so that the original entry will be able to be
marked for deletion and set to undetermined.

There is a variation for Sticker for Set 10237 - (15275/6047307), the new number is 16470/6061563 and sticker for part 87079pb141 is dark blue instead of trans-clear. Before the alternate sticker sheet can be added to the inventory it must first
be added to the BrickLink catalog. As for now, I cannot do anything for the inventory

* Change {1 to 2} Part Yellow 3009p01 Brick 1 x 6 with Black Car Grille Pattern

Comments from Submitter:
Two of these are required to build two of the models shown as photos on the instruction-sheet: see pages 13 and 14 on Peeron's scan of the sheet.

How do you know that the brick in those photos that are unseen have the pattern
on them? The logical side of me says that the symmetric side of the train car
would have the same brick, but the skeptical admin side of me says that I need
better proof. Do you have any other reliable source or information that could
help with this request?

Thanks,
Randy

I've owned two copies of this set; both came with two of these bricks.

And when you say "owned", were the copies originally purchased new by you or
were they used sets?

Thanks,
Randy

My current one is used, but it came boxed and complete with the expected vintage
of parts.

My original set, back in the late 70s, was new.

Thank you very much for that information. Along with the Peeron inventory, I
think that I am convinced of the inclusion of two of the patterned bricks.

I have one more question, though. How many plain yellow 1 x 6 bricks do you have
in the set? One of the models in the instructions uses seven 1 x 6 yellow bricks
which the BrickLink inventory confirms, but the Peeron inventory states that
only six came in the set.

Thanks again,
Randy

The instructions show a small black rubber belt. Set 8720 has several rubber
belts in its inventory but none in black. So the black rubber belt would have
to be the one from 8836 unless the inventory of 8720 is wrong.

I think 8720 was updated over time. The inventory pictured on the box shows three
black rubber bands of various sizes. If you look up 8720 sets, you can see that
the box artwork was updated over time, also. The contents may have changed when
the artwork was changed.

Sets: Technic: Model: Airport

* Add 3 Part x88 Black Rubber Band Small (Square Cross Section) (Extra)

Comments from Submitter:
There was no way to get a sealed pic. They weren't in a bag. They were loose in the plastic sorting tray in the section that had the long technic bricks. They are not in the instructions for the primary build, but the instructions call for a K2 rubber band if you want to connect it to a motor. Go figure?

I have found a lot of images of this set sealed, and it is apparent that every
one of these sets came with rubber bands. In many of the sets, I can see at least
two. The problem is in determining how many of the rubber bands were included
regularly and how many were possible extras.

The part count on the boxes of some of the sets show "271 PCS". Since the inventory
is already over that number, LEGO did not count some of the pieces in the box
as "pieces". So, we cannot look to this number for any guidance with respect
to the rubber bands at this point.

This leaves us with the instructions and box. The box states that the set can
be motorized with set 8720, and the instructions confirm this. The instructions
show that the set can be motorized using one rubber band. However, set 8720 came
with rubber bands, also. So, did the rubber band in the instructions come from
this set or set 8720? Who knows. (shrugs)

In the end, I think I agree with Paul that one of the rubber bands should be
made a regular part since the set seems to have always been packaged with them
and only one is shown to be used in the instructions.

Cheers,
Randy

Comments from Submitter:
Source: Sealed set contents (my own collection).

I'm assuming the inventory was done from sealed set contents, but without checking the instructions. None of the locomotive variants needs more than 7 dark gray/3 trans-neon green/2 trans-red 1x1 round plates, so we have 1 extra for every color.

https://www.lego.com/biassets/bi/4162295.pdf
https://www.lego.com/biassets/bi/4162296.pdf
https://www.lego.com/biassets/bi/4162297.pdf

Should I also change the other color bricks inventories? (I don't own them, but obviously they need the same changes.)

Set polybag states "Cont. 103 pcs/pzs/pçs". Also, LEGO replacement parts service
confirms 7x dark gray 4073, 3x trans-neon green 4073, and 2x trans-red 4073.
Request accepted.

We can look for evidence for the others before changing them.

Cheers,
Randy

Comments from Submitter:
Should include white on eye piece. Can provide scans of original polybag to show this was as intended.

There are obviously two different versions of the polybag since one of them has
the older-style LEGO BASIC branding on it and one of them has the newer-style
LEGO SYSTEM BASIC branding. I wouldn't be surprised if this part was changed
when the set packaging was changed. I will need to do a little research on this
to see what the right way to proceed is.

A type of reverse want list. That is, a way that sellers could peruse the current
want lists to specific buyer's needs, to then as a seller, proactively engage
members like Wayne with offers on items they have on their want list.

Kinda like amping-up the want list and selling process, by getting the sellers
more involved in increasing their sales by actually selling

It's just a rough draft of an idea. Limitations, restriction and other refinements

But hey, BL shot-callers, it speaks directly to upping the sales numbers!

As long as I could opt out of it, I would be all for it. I don't need sellers
spamming me with offers of things on my want list.

Thanks in advance.

It is listed on the Catalog Roadmap as number 25 under Projects Under Consideration:

Until there is more than one Catalog Associate, the catalog projects are kind

Can you verify that all of the shoes in the set are part

Part No: 33021 Name: Scala, Clothes Shoe Female Type 1 (Youth)
*
33021 Scala, Clothes Shoe Female Type 1 (Youth)
Parts: Scala, Figure Accessory
and not

Part No: 33022 Name: Scala, Clothes Shoe Female Type 2 (Adult)
*
33022 Scala, Clothes Shoe Female Type 2 (Adult)
Parts: Scala, Figure Accessory

Basically, do all of the shoes have a heart molded inside them or not?

Thanks,
Randy

I just parted out a single sealed retail box of 31056-1 and all the parts were
correct, except it came with an extra Dark Bluish Gray Technic, Brick 1 x 12
with Holes. This is the largest part in the entire set and mine had 3 instead
of 2. The instructions indicate only 2 are needed. All 3 were loose in the
cardboard box and not in the sealed plastic bags.

I'm hesitant to submit an inventory change request because this set came
out a couple of years ago so I expect its database entry is settled, and I've
never seen an extra part this large before.

Should I just chalk this up as a one-off oddity?

Please submit the change request, and it will be approved. I will also add a
note to the inventory once that happens.

Cheers,
Randy

Any news?

The other Inventory Admin, Paul, ordered this set new from somewhere. I was waiting
for him to receive his set to take care of this request. Prior to that, though,
when him and I talked about this set, we both had our doubts that the parts were
included in the new set since the box images do not show them anywhere.

I just received my set and can confirm that it has the light gray 4x4 plates.
I will accept the inventory change request now.

Awesome! How cool is that?!? A 38-year-old set inventory may be correct for the
first time ever!

I love things like this on BrickLink.

Comments from Submitter:
As per instructions, the first variant has three holes.
Shall I add a new catalog entry
2972b
Train Base 6 x 34 Split-Level with Bottom Tubes and one Hole at Each End
and mark 2972 for deletation?

Set No: 4549 Name: Container Double Stack
*
4549-1 (Inv) Container Double Stack
443 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1993
Sets: Train: 9V

* Add 1 Part 2972a Light Gray Train Base 6 x 34 Split-Level with Bottom Tubes and Three Holes at Each End (match ID 1)
* Change 1 Part Light Gray 2972 Train Base 6 x 34 Split-Level with Bottom Tubes {Regular to Alternate} {match ID 0 to 1}

The first variant has three hols on each end as it shows on the instructions.
It was used in starting 1993 for this set and 4547-1. In later productions, the
later variant with one hole on each end was produced coming with this set too.
See
https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/lego-system-4549-container-double-412853958

The set you linked to shows proof for the one-hole version, but I do not feel
comfortable to add the three-hole version just based on the instructions.

At this time,

Part No: 2972 Name: Train Base 6 x 34 Split-Level with Bottom Tubes (Undetermined Type)
*
2972 Train Base 6 x 34 Split-Level with Bottom Tubes (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Train
Marked for Deletion
is basically a catch-all entry since it can include both versions of the part
as the catalog note states. Therefore, the inventory is technically not incorrect
until the one-hole version gets its own catalog entry and this part gets marked
for deletion.

Any additional thoughts on this, Paul?

In Lego instruction I only see it 4x. Manual 3 of 3 on page 8 ( 3x) and page
11 (1x) = 4x

So either the count is wrong or the instruction. Could somebody verify this?

Thx

The step on page 11 that uses 1x must be repeated 3x to build all three arms
of the ride. Those are the two that you are missing.

and bags are exactly the ones in the current set inventories for the four sets, so the
total number of bricks is 174. The box label says 177, I don't know why.

I was also wondering this when I was going through the sets yesterday. Here are
the piece counts listed on the boxes of the constituent sets:

4600-1 - 23 pieces (BrickLink has 22 Parts, 1 Minifig ... seems right)
4604-1 - 20 pieces (BrickLink has 16 Parts, 2 Minifigs ... seems not right)
4606-1 - 40 pieces (BrickLink has 38 Parts, 2 Minifigs ... seems right)
4609-1 - 94 pieces (BrickLink has 90 Parts, 3 Minifigs ... seems not right)

When the piece counts listed on the boxes of the constituent sets are all added
together, you get 177 pieces which is the number listed on the box of 9305-1.
So the current BrickLink inventories do not match up in all cases, and I am trying
to figure out why.

I am going to look into this further later before moving ahead with the change
requests.

Could a note be added to the set with a reference to the four sets that it contains?

Comments from Submitter:
I didn't find photos of sealed set contents here. However, based on my recent inventory change requests, I think the transition from 3650a to 3650b is quite clear now.
- 3650a was included in sets until 1991. We have proof that two sets (8074 and 8856) released in 1991 came with 3650a in early and 3650b in later copies.
- 3650b was included in a copy of set 8837 which was produced in March 1992.
- During my research, I didn't find 3650a in any set released after 1991.

(If this request is accepted, I will continue with the remaining wrong and undetermined entries of this part.)

Jonas -

Paul and I have discussed this, and we are not going to accept this request at
this time.

Due to the very narrow transition window of this part's variants as well
as the obvious unknown supplies of stock for each variant that might have been
used in different markets, it is better if we wait for better evidence that may
come along.

You have done some amazing research and detective work up to this point, and
we very much thank you for that!

Cheers,
Randy

Hey Fred!

You know we don't like using set pictures as reference material.

Can we be sure that it was always the 8mm-cylinder train coupling in the two
sets this part came in?

has already been documented in sets around the same time period as those two

  Hi,
I made a request to create a new set of 9680-2. I sent the photos via e-mail.
Is there anything else I can do?
When will the 9680-2 set be available in the set list?

Alexei

Hi Alexei -

I did not receive any images of this set through email.

Right now, the set is just in a pending status. It will remain in a pending status
until an image of the set is uploaded on the following page:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogImageAdd.page?itemType=S

In the first text box behind "Item No:", you would type in 9680, and in
the second text box behind "Item No:", you would type 2.

Once the image of the set is uploaded to BrickLink, the catalog admins will be
able to approve the set.

After the set has been approved, we can start on an inventory for it. As requested
in an earlier post, please send high quality photos of the entire parts list
cards that were included in your set to inv@bricklink.com

Thanks,
Randy

  Hi,
I could not find anything on the topic :/
Could anyone explain please why are leaflets (instructions) for each minifigure
of the series kept separately in the catalog when they seems to be all the same?

It seems especially weird, when I saw that someone bought leaflet for percival
graves for such high price:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?I=colhp-22#T=P
while it seems that this leaflet is just pretty the same as all the rest of the
leaflets from this series....

Thx in advance,
J.

It is due to the fact that each collectible minifigure is treated as a separate
set in the BrickLink catalog. Since each set entry in the BrickLink catalog automatically
has an instructions entry added to it on creation, each collectible minifigure
set gets an instructions entry added to it on creation. It would be wrong to
say that each one of these sets does not have instructions included with it,
since each collectible minifigure does indeed come with the leaflet. Therefore,
each collectible minifigure set gets the leaflet as its instructions.

Cheers,
Randy

Thanks Randy, makes sense.

And I would a little bit modify my question then.
Anyone noticed that especially for HP collectables are there some differences
?
From what I found it seems all those HP leaflets are just the same.
But I might overlooked something, so I am curious whether anyone could confirm
they are just the same ?

Thx,
J.

The leaflet is the exact same for most of the collectible minifigure series.
Sorry that I can't speak specifically about the HP ones, but I would highly
doubt that there would be any difference in that series.

Cheers,
Randy

Set No: 7822 Name: Railway Station
*
7822-1 (Inv) Railway Station
372 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 1980
Sets: Train: 4.5V

* Add 4 Part 3242 Light Gray Train, Track 12V Conducting Rail Straight

The source is from a NIB set sold on Ebay in Italy.
I have also seen used lots containing 4.5v sets+7822 and 4 extra conducting rails.

This set is advertised 4.5v in catalogs 1980-2 but TLG included 4 straight conducting
rails too so at the end, it was both working with either 4.5v or 12v layout.

I'm not convinced that this set would originally come with conducting rails.
It seems more likely that this seller would throw those rails in with the set
as a service for buyers who might want to use it with a 12V layout. I don't
remember my own set coming with these rails.

This is the only MISB set I have seen. I contacted the seller and asked him more
photos. He didn't know about Lego much and didn't have other train-related
staff. He was certainly not a Lego dealer, that I am sure.

We would never know if ALL copies contained these extra conducting rails.
The problem is that I cannot trust used lots at all as conducting rails are so
common and people have them. However, I attach a used lot containing only 4.5V
sets sold on Ebay in US where 12v train were not sold. We see 3 straight conducting
rails and there may be one extra (or maybe lost?).

I do have another set of photos of an NIB copy but the quality is bad and we
cannot see much.

I also point two things:
1) how did the seller know he had to add 4 extra conducting rails but they are
included in peeron, bricklink,...? why did he do that? I remember he did not
claim the set was complete. In the advertisement, he mentioned something like
"all bags are sealed. Not sure if complete"
2) The conducting rails have contact holes. These are produced between 1980-87.
But they came in two versions. The first version didn't have plastic reinforcements
below the notches (1980-84) but since 1985 they added extra plastic (to all types,
including straight, curved, cross, points,...). See
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1078534

In the photos we can see two conducting rails don't have reinforcements (the
other two are not visible). This is also why I trusted them.

Ok. Maybe you are right about these. But if we add these I think they should
be added as extra parts and not regular parts. They are not shown anywhere on
the box art or instructions. That would fit the definition of extra parts.

I am not convinced about this change request, either, but if we do end up accepting
it, they will most likely need to be added as Extra Items with an accompanying
Inventory Note.

Cheers,
Randy

Did you just get 20? Those stickers are all over both of the advent calenders
I got. The box is printed with numbers of sets that were too big to fit in the
different sized compartments.

I got a few different ones as freebies in an order. It was a nice surprise. The
set image here for 20 shows the number 19 on the bag without a sticker, but mine
had the 23 sticker over the 19. So the set must have been changed at some time
to update the packaging routine. I wonder if they used different parts during
the different packaging runs. Your evidence here looks like they may have.

Well from that image, the one on the left looks like Trans-Very Lt Blue with
Trans-Medium Blue caps and the one on the right looks like all Trans-Light Blue.
Checking mine again, it looks maybe like it could be Trans-Very Lt Blue with
Trans-Medium Blue. I will need to go get my Trans-Very Lt Blue references out.

By the way, this advent calendar was actually changed during production. Read

Both of these requests will not be accepted since the versions of the parts you

You can see this by looking at the Match ID (MID) numbers next to the parts in

in the Alternate Items section of the set inventory that have the same Match

I agree. Most customers buying new parts expect me to take the new parts as supplied
by LEGO and send those. They do not expect me to assemble them. But I cannot
sell the parts that LEGO supplied here, I have to sell either a combination of
them or pull them apart. There is no option to sell it as it was originally supplied.

My first reply to you was just an answer to your question. I do not agree with
the inconsistency, also, but I am not a catalog associate yet who can do anything
about it. I would be happy to have Marek add it to the Catalog Roadmap for consideration
of being worked on, but it would be rather low on the priority list. Although,
it would not be a big issue to tackle, so could be done rather quickly.

My set contained dark. Much too late for a sealed pic, but I've had it under control since opening it.

The set probably always contained Trans-Dark Pink. Since your set was sealed
and the original inventory has had so many problems corrected in it over time,
I think I will remove the Trans-Pink one altogether. If a Trans-Pink one is ever
found in the future, we can add it back in.
