if an ordinary make-up brush would work as a viable cleaning tool for my collection

My collection of sets on display has expanded quite a bit recently. In the last
year alone, it has gone from only three sets to seven sets at the current time.
It's becoming a bit of a chore to keep them clean and dust free of dust.
More sets are in the planning stage for later on down the road.

Anyone have any experience cleaning lego with something like a make-up brush?

I use this brush to dust Lego(not that I ever remember to)

I feel sorry for your LEGO. Doesn't that leave a ton of scratches??

It depends on the brush. A wide cheek brush is not going to work. Built LEGO
has too many nooks and crannies. I use a soft synthetic acrylic paintbrush from
the art store. It's kinda pricey ($10-15) but leaves no scratches.

I know, but honestly I thought that Bricklink was free of any scams... evidently
I was wrong. Do you think I can manage to get my money back?

BrickLink is an open marketplace. You need to look out for yourself! Good thing
you used Paypal.

Read feedback. Read terms. If an offer is too good to be true, it is usually
too good to be true. Don't buy rare or expensive items from sellers with
no experience.

Okay, I have done a bit more research here. Before anything can be done with
this counterpart, the assembly parts must be present. For part 65766 to be added
to the inventory, it must be found in a sealed set and added as an alternate.

Part No: 65766 Name: Technic, Steering Wheel Hub Holder with 2 Pin Holes and 2 Arms with Axle Holes without Slots (Reinforced)
*
65766 Technic, Steering Wheel Hub Holder with 2 Pin Holes and 2 Arms with Axle Holes without Slots (Reinforced)
Parts: Technic, Steering
is actually listed in the LEGO data for this set. If the admin will
accept video evidence, the newer variant does appear to be here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok_DUwfjSQQ

at the 7 minute mark. If this is good enough, I will submit the change requests
and get the OP's request taken care of.

Thanks,
~Jen

The alternate black part 65766 is not listed in that set. I just parted out a
used 42107 and that came with that part in it. Either way those parts can be
combined...just want to add that to the catalog as LBG if we can.

Hello,

If the combination is not shown in the LEGO instructions or found in a sealed
set, I do not believe it will be added to the Catalog.

Wasn't the point to not have to differentiate between the different stud

The big merges have not been finished yet. I need help from a developer to make
sure we don't shut down the servers with the merge operation.

Thank you for your response. That makes much more sense!

Hello,

From everything I have read here, the merging of 44302a/b was outside of what
the variant merge was intended to do. I don't care whether it was an oversight
or a misjudgement or just a mistake. Let's everyone take a breath here and
just work toward fixing this.

44302a and 44302b were grooved variants. This catalog still supports grooved
variants. BrickLink, please restore this change.

Thank you,

44302a and 44302b were not supposed to be merged! What the heck?!?!

We were specifically told that only the 7-teeth and 9-teeth hinges would be merged,
which meant 44302b should have only been merged with 54657.

44302a and 44302b were isolated because one has a groove and one doesn't,
and nothing with grooves was supposed to be merged.

I agree. If LEGO released a part variant today with a groove on one side for
any plate, I would be adding it to the Catalog as a new part.

I believe this oversight should be addressed and corrected as soon as possible.
Please, BrickLink, restore specifically the grooved variant of this part.

Thanks,
~Jen

Why were the grooved variants merged?

Because they were on the list from the beginning:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2629

The reason they got on the list is because they are not classified as cosmetic
variants or typical grooved parts. The groove became apparent when the teeth
on the hinges was being examined, and the grooves were distinguished for the
same reason as the teeth. But when we remove the reason for recognizing the teeth,
we also remove the reason for recognizing the groove.

I am sorry but I am not following the logic here. I understood that the reason
for merging the 2 teeth variants was that they were functionally and visually
not distinct enough to matter. However, the groove is a separate issue isn't
it? Previous communication about this project has iterated that Groove / Without
Groove was not going to be affected. And now it has.

Can we please get an answer on why specifically 44302 was merged? How is the
distinction different from 44567a/b and 44301a/b?

Thanks,
~Jen

We just need time. Can you create more of that for us?

What does take the admins soooo long to approve stickered parts? Isn’t it just
looking at the instructions and checking to make sure the item name is descriptive
enough?

Pardon my lack of knowledge.

I can fix that lack of knowledge.

You can look here:

https://www.bricklink.com/calendar.asp?v=C

or at the Newest Items log to see what's taking soooo long. There is simply
a huge amount of work to be done. Much of it needs careful consideration and
research.

Look through the Approval Pending Overview and see how many parts do you think
need corrections or to have their images edited? Or for submitters to actually
respond to questions asked?

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogPend.asp

Add to all of this that the admins have not had their tool set upgraded since
the site was still Green. You get the idea....

Would it be practical to merge all the same classic space mini figs eg.

Minifig No: sp005 Name: Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks
*
sp005 (Inv) Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space

Minifig No: sp004 Name: Classic Space - Blue with Air Tanks
*
sp004 (Inv) Classic Space - Blue with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space

Minifig No: sp003 Name: Classic Space - Black with Air Tanks
*
sp003 (Inv) Classic Space - Black with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space

Minifig No: sp006 Name: Classic Space - White with Air Tanks
*
sp006 (Inv) Classic Space - White with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space

Minifig No: sp007 Name: Classic Space - Yellow with Air Tanks
*
sp007 (Inv) Classic Space - Yellow with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space

Together into one listing with just different selectable colours?

The figs are technically the same just different in colour, we already do the
same for the torsos, why not figs too?

Minifigs don't have colors assigned.

Part No: 3688 Name: Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex
*
3688 Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex
Parts: Slope

The description for this part says that it can have either a blocked open stud
or a hollow stud. To me, having one entry for a part that appears to have two
versions is a problem. For sellers, there is no way to list the two variations
separately, and for buyers there is no way to know what version they will be
receiving in an order.

This can be a problem if a buyer needs one version, but receives the other. Please
create a second catalog entry so sellers can differentiate the two versions in
their store listings. I would recommend the following...

3688a - Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex with Blocked Open Stud
3688b - Slope 75 2 x 2 x 2 Quadruple Convex with Hollow Stud

Blocked Open Studs and Hollow Studs have a similar footprint/shape. They should
both hold the Barraki Eye the same. Are you perhaps looking for an Open Stud?

I suggest to change the Brickink definition of regular items and move those parts
from Regular Items to Extra Items.

Who is with me?

BrickLink inventories are currently intended to show the contents of a New set.
Used sets are at the mercy of both the buyer and seller understanding the terms
outlined here:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102

Obviously, a New and Used set can have distinct differences in the inventory.
Unfortunately, BL doesn't have the infrastructure to show inventories for
each set condition.

they changed the category name to “space exploration” 🙄🙄🙄 why?

there is a picture of it in dark green color, I dont think the picture is real
(edges too sharp, mold point, etc) and should be deleted

It does look like it has been heavily manipulated. It looks very similar to the
dark brown image (orientation, pip on stud, shadows) but cleaned up and recoloured,
maybe put through a photo-realistic filter.

No, it's just an image with too much light. It's reflecting off the white
base and background and washing out the edges.
