Just wondering about the share wanted list feature that's coming soon...
Will I be able to upload photos and renderings of my wanted list? or Will
that just make it exactly like the stud.io gallery?

The wanted list already places a picture of the item next to the description.

Why is there no catalog entry for the assembled version of

Part No: 3830 Name: Hinge Brick 1 x 4 Swivel Top
*
3830 Hinge Brick 1 x 4 Swivel Top
Parts: Hinge
and

Part No: 3831 Name: Hinge Brick 1 x 4 Swivel Base
*
3831 Hinge Brick 1 x 4 Swivel Base
Parts: Hinge
?
Is it because there aare no hinges that have the 2 parts in the same color?
Just curious.

I realize this is recognized as a difficult one and probably even harder through
the internet, but I was hoping for some advice/strategy on confidently tell the
different on the rubbery Bionicle pieces. I parted out a set that has a vast
number of variants and my gut is saying Pearl Light Gray.

If they were Flat Silver, would they pretty well match the hard plastic flat
silver pieces I get now? I have a lot of those. But I don't have a strong
familiarity with Pearl Light Gray.

My feeling is that Pearl Light Gray kinda looks like it has a clear coat on it
where I can see slightly into the surface of the piece.

PLG has a swirling pattern that is fairly easy to identify on plastic parts but
I don't know about the "rubbery" parts.

Just to clarify, I’m having my own negative experience with this user myself.
I paid for a $120 set four days ago, messaged him the day after I paid since
there was no response. He replied the next day saying he’d ship today, which
he hasn’t. For such an expensive set, I’d rather not have to wait five days after
making a payment to see it ship. Kind of upsetting.

A bricklink user may be an A + buyer but a mediocre seller. I’m dealing with
a seller who’s had bad reviews, ranging from water and crush damage to an order
that was cancelled without explanation. But this user has stellar buyer reviews
that reflect his overall rating.

If there’s not already, there should be a way to filter between these two types
of reviews so that users aren’t stuck with a bad seller who’s being advertised
so positively from their reviews as a buyer.

To the far right of each FB comment it states whether he was a buyer or seller
and at the immediate R of his ID card it breaks down the totals for buying and
selling.

Did you read his store terms? Many people only go to the PO once a week. Maybe
he had trouble finding adequate packaging for the set. Perhaps he just forgot
to set the status to shipped. There are just too many things that might come
in to play here. For me personally, 4 days is not a big deal. If you are that
concerned keep the lines of communication open and be polite. I'm sure it
will work out in due time.

Part No: 6246f Name: Minifigure, Utensil Tool Oil Can - Smooth Handle

6246f Minifigure, Utensil Tool Oil Can - Smooth Handle
Parts: Minifigure, Utensil

And I come across a colour that I cannot identify.

The left oil can is of a colour that is darker than either old dark grey or dark
bluish grey. Yet it is not black. So what is it?

Apologies if the colours don't come through very well; I took the photo in
bright outdoor light, with the Texas sun at just after high noon. If that isn't
natural light, then anyone's guess on that definition. Background is a sheet
of white foam-board.

Gurus of LEGO colour, I call upon you.

Light black? seriously, if I would venture a guess it would be a darker version
of DBG. With all the shade variations you just never know.

I know that this has probably been beat to death, but I have a suggestion. I,
as well as others I'm sure, have complained about the average prices that
are grossly inflated due to very high priced parts. On the used side of the guide
it seems it is always the same 2 stores (ex $39.95 for a $0.20 piece).

Why can't we do what they do in some sporting events - throw out the lowest
and highest and then average. I'm sure there is a way to do this.

Like putting in '-duplo' into each search.

This could be stored as a user preference.

Ran into this scenerio: We only accept PayPal as payment method but agreed to
bypass and accept money order at the request of a buyer. Problem is, when checking

Thanks!

There are over 20 payment methods available to choose from. Why not just add
"money order" as one of your accepted payment methods?

  On pages such as this:

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32174

you should be able to click on a colour under "On Wanted Lists" to add it to
your wanted list thereby bringing up the normal "Add Items to My Wanted List:
Add Parts" screen, but with the color already selected.

Not all available colors are listed under the Wanted List column. Colors listed
reflect the colors that people have on their wanted lists. Nice idea though -
I often wondered why they didn't have that function. I vote yes.

I cannot imagine anyone having issue with this.

Maybe a -2 selling privilages cut pending review would work?

We already have a control at -3, why have another at -2 unless you suggest the
-3 rule changes to -2. What are you going to require of this "-2bie" to get his
rights back?

If there is a new seller with a -2 and you then buy from him I think you should
expect the worst!

Also, consider that a store with 20 FB (comprised of 30+, 10-) is more of an
ongoing problem, potentially, than a newbie who has made a couple of mistakes.

why don't people just read FB before ordering?

what's going on today? why is everyone out to make it look like BL is broken?

Robert

I couldn't agree more Robert. It seems like every time someone has a bad experience
they think that somehow the BrickLink system is to blame. The vast majority
of transactions go off without a hitch. Buying will always have associated risks.
Read the feedback, both received and given. Trust your gut instincts. If it's
too good to be true, it probably is. If, after weighing the evidence you buy
(or sell for that matter) and it doesn't work out, take appropriate action and
move on. Learn from your mistakes. BrickLinks self-policing works quite nicely
- besides, the Admins have enough things to worry about as it is.

I just scrolled down the (long) list of my current orders and noticed I failed
to acknowledge a pending order - the red color is too close to the processing
color and I apparently overlooked it. Would it be possible to change the color
of the processing selection to blue or some other color not already used?

That cute little banner at the top of the store detail page is a little small
IMO if it is used to direct people to the store terms page (which mine does).
Maybe we could make it bigger, or better yet put a banner option on the splash
page. Also, the "By submitting this order, you agree to the Seller's Terms and
Conditions and Shipping Policy" could be moved to the top of the checkout screen
(in bold or color?) instead of at the bottom.

Basically a coupon that shows up to everyone upon checkout. This way if you want
to do a sale say 10% of orders of $100.00 or more you can just create a single
coupon which everyone can receive at checkout. This would be great for short
sales like weekends or holiday.. without having to alter pricing on stuff.

Brion

You could put a note on your store banner and then apply the discount as a credit
on the "My Orders Received" page. Just a thought.

Lainee

True that is what a lot of people do. but I thought it might be easier to keep
track of if it were in coupon form.. Ie no Brain fade or forgetting to change
the subtitle and having your sale go longer than expected..

Or as in my case I would like to have a public coupon that offers a tiered discount.

Such as 5% off $50
10% off $100.00
15% off $250.00

you know something like that ..

By having the coupon the computer would already do it rather than having to do
it on every order manually..

Brion

Maybe this could be done by allowing a wildcard in the "For User" field - that
sounds pretty easy.

Yes notifications can be sent out if you add a new lot, but not when you increase

Hi all,

BUMP

I've posted before with similar problems pertaining to this but at this point
it's driving me crazy.

The main issue is when I add/increase an item that is already in my inventory.
When I get to the INVENTORY VERIFY page, it asks if I want to add to existing
inventory or list item as a new lot. When adding to existing inventory, those
items are not put in the notify queue. If I want notifications sent I must list
them as a new lot which more often than not I don't want to do.

I also add to my inventory directly from the INVENTORY DETAIL page. Again notifications
cannot be sent out.

A lot of people specify a certain quantity of an item when they put it on their
wanted lists (myself included). Let's say the initial listing is less than a
buyer requires - they are not notified. If, however I add more of an item and
it is now in a quantity that the member wants there is no mechanism to notify
them.

Just the other day I was checking an item that has been on my wanted list for
quite some time. OMG - the fairly large quantity I was looking for had appeared!
Even though I opted for e-mail notification, I received none. The problem -
the seller did not chose to notify. Sadly, someone had purchased all the items.
Oh well, I guess surfing is the only sure way to see if my wants are available.

I propose there be an option to notify (or place it in the queue) on both the
Inventory Verify and Inventory Detail pages and let the seller designate them
as default settings if they so desire. Many have argued that they get "too many
annoying e-mails". The buyer, not the seller has control of this simply by un-checking
the "notify me by e-mail" option when making their wanted lists.

OK - enough verbosity (pause, heavy sigh, end of rant).
