Instead of reporting them...

Why not just choose to purchase from stores where you are in agreement with their
Terms and Conditions.

I read the terms of every store selected via "Buy All". However, this
week (for example) I got a surprise fee that was not mentioned anywhere in their
terms page. This time the fee was a reasonable amount for packing materials.
But I really wish everyone would disclose any fees in the terms page. Otherwise
it annoys people. Assembling multiple carts is enough of a pain without that
game.

It's weird looking back on the 60's when my doll house furniture came
with ashtrays and cigarette lighters attached. Mom bought us bubblegum cigars
and candy cigarettes.

There is a new tiles "Portraits" anyone have idea or knowledge of how

Looks like there are 14 portrait tiles in the collecting checklist seen in the
building instructions for Hagrid's Hut.

Distribution so far
• Hagrid's Hut: 2x
• Hogwarts Castle Boathouse: 1x
• Hogwarts Castle Owlery: 1x

Finding a good selection of stores takes work/time… or (shipping) money

Amen to that.

For last week's order I devoted three entire days, from waking to sleep time,
doing nothing but shopping and configuring carts to buy parts for a moc.

On the first pass, I take a screen shot of the list of stores suggested by auto
select. Then I temporarily "unlike" the store that seems to have high
prices (or a crazy price for one of the items) and then do a second auto select
to see if the new result is better.

I spend time making tiny changes, such as swapping an unexpectedly expensive
color or part for a cheaper one that would work instead. Then try the auto select
again.

I make a spreadsheet of the two best lists of stores suggested by auto select.
Then I read the TERMS pages for each store and check for bad feedback, excessive
extra fees, limits too low, etc..

If the terms look fine, I shop inside each store, filtering on my Maybe-Some-Day
Wish List hoping to add a few treats to my basket since I'm already paying
postage for the package. That's my favorite part.

I might start the whole thing over again the next day before finally buying.

Last step: I convince myself that all of that shopping was part of the play and
therefore, apparently fun.

Good luck!

For things like cloth capes or paper instructions, I seal them in a plastic bag
with a half cup of baking soda for a week. The powder doesn't need to actually
touch the items.

Ah yes, bulk. Last summer, my wish lists included a couple leaves and a couple
cheese slopes. I failed to notice that Auto-select chose one lot of 200 leaves
and one lot of 200 trans-orange cheese slopes. I didn’t even know that was a
thing. Fortunately, they were inexpensive parts. It gave me a laugh.

Lesson: Check the carts not only for unexpectedly high prices but also
for unexpectedly high quantities.

My lesson was about the Auto-select tool. Shopping would be overwhelming without
this great tool.

Among the pieces in my wish list, I needed 16 of a particular part of which most
shops had only 1 or 2. Auto-select chose a store with a large quantity. That
store’s price was $3.80 each for a 30 cent part, and as I said, I needed 16.
Other parts in that cart were priced high too. But I trusted that the Auto-select
had calculated the best option, considering that shipping can add up fast.

I paid for my carts. Then, out of curiosity, I bookmarked the expensive shop
as disliked to eliminate it from selection and then ran the Auto-select tool
again for the same wish lists. To my horror, it then selected a combination
totaling $143 (with shipping) instead of the $244 I just paid.

Lesson: In the future, if Auto-select chooses an unusually expensive
shop, I’m going to un-like it and run the tool a second time to confirm it was
the best choice before buying.

This week I made a very expensive mistake in Bricklink. I'm so angry with
myself. Nobody did anything "wrong". I just wasn't savvy with knowing
the ropes.

I'd like to spin it positive and see your tips so others can avoid pitfalls.
Or maybe just take a moment to laugh at our silly selves.

So, what Bricklink lessons have you learned.... or possibly had burned into your
brain?

I spent litteraly 1 hour to try to connect two pieces on the step 110 of the
Hogwarts Castle, and i can't do it. Can someone help me with this issue ?
i thinking it's because i'm stupid but i can't find the right
angle of the piece

It's a 3-4-5 Pythagorean triangle, so the angle is 36.87 or its complement
of 53.13 degrees, plus a multiple of 90 degrees.

However, in a case like this it is often easier to first connect one point, then
hinge around that point and find the proper angle by trial and error. If you
look at the model from the top, you can see rather well whether the second hinge
is coming close to the ideal location. You can always hide all parts not needed
for the hinge operation so you have a clear view.

When I run into a "just won't fit" problem, it sometimes helps to
go over everything to make sure I didn't make a building mistake up to that
point and that every piece is fully seated.

Just remember which book. You would not be the first who has no idea where to
find their sails because they forgot which book.

How master builders create those giant LEGO models
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlPO9yTNXWc

Wow what a beautiful build. But I don't know how they do that every day with
bare fingers. I would have expected some specialized tools. My fingers get
sore and scratched just building a regular set.

Please forgive what is perhaps a silly question. In reading through the terms
page at stores, I encounter verbiage stating the seller applies one procedure
to “smaller orders” and a different treatment for “larger orders”. In the most
recent example, they were referring to the number of lots. Which leaves me scratching
my head wondering whether my order is large or small to understand which terms
will apply.

Now I’m curious. Is there is any ballpark rule of thumb for judging order size?

Thanks
