I opened 48 copies of set 10704 and got 96 of the black antenna and 192 of the black wheel, which would be the amount expected without extras. There usually aren't extras of parts like that.
I did get extras of slope 54200 which does usually have extras.

I had these left over after building mine, didn't see a place in the instructions to put them, and they're the kind of tiny parts that often have one-of extras.

Sounds too complicated but the separate domestic/international setting reminds
me of how I have different handling fees ($1 US/$1.50 foreign) and have to put
the international one manually

I opened 4 #70347 and got 12 dark blue cheese slope instead of 8. I figure there were 2 main, as stated in the existing inventory, plus 1 extra, since it's common to have an extra of tiny parts like that. As far as I can tell, everything else in the inventory is accurate

There is, only if the buyer requested the item removal.

In my experience, the buyer has asked me to remove items through PM/email but
I'm the one to fill out the formal order item removal request.

I suspect the reason is more down to Earth than this -
When a buyer initiates an order item removal request, the seller does the second
step. As s/he is "in charge" at this point, it is easy to slap on a few more
steps to allow the items to be moved back in inventory.
When a seller initiates an order item removal request, the buyer does the second
step. Obviously s/he cannot decide whether to move items back in inventory. It
would require an additional procedural step to finish the process - instead of
a 1-2 (seller-buyer) to finish the request, it would become a 1-2-3 (seller-buyer-seller).

When I'm missing a part, I don't resolve that by officially removing
it from order. Maybe if I caught it before payment, but usually I discover that
after payment and before shipment.

| When removing items from an order, there's no built in feature for putting
those items back into your inventory. I'm thinking there should be something

| When I have a color selected on a catalog page, and go to the 'add to my
inventory' link, I have to pick a color again. If the link remembered the
color from the catalog page, it would make it quicker to list used parts, and
new parts where for some reason set part out isn't applicable. It's frustrating,
and particularly frustrating to be about to submit and have to go back to choose
a color.

Use the part out inventory feature. Set the default to exclude all parts. then
just unclick the parts you want into inventory, i.e. the extras.

Thank you! That sounds very useful and would also help in other situations when
I'm only parting out a small amount of a set. I see the checkbox on the part
out page and will use it next time.

It happens to me when using http://www.bricklink.com/inventory_add.asp?act=a&a=P
to list parts one lot at a time. Sometimes I don't select a color or BL doesn't
recognize that I made a selection.
When clicking Add To My Inventory on a catalog page, BL doesn't automatically
fill in the color I had selected in the catalog.

| When a part is listed with color (not applicable), the sample image is white.
When listing white parts, this can cause confusion because they wouldn't
come up in a search for white and the error is hard to detect. When the parts
are actually some other color, the confusion is more obvious.
Perhaps the Not Applicable image could be a line drawing or otherwise altered.

| I sometimes have payment come from someone with a different name. sometimes PayPal
gives me the same address, sometimes same except for the name.
fortunately I haven't encountered any inappropriate behavior surrounding
this.

| The main problem here is delays in the NPB process.
I agree with other posters that feedback on canceled orders is useful if they
did something shady to get the order canceled.
If a buyer admits soon after that they changed their mind, I cancel the order
and leave them a neutral.
