Hello,

A couple weeks ago when I had close to ten carts and tabs open (in addition to
several other non-BrickLink tabs), I found the miniature store logos in the tabs
to be very helpful for quick navigation to pertinent shops. (And I consequently
made my own quick logo for shoppers.)

As of about a week ago however, all tabs, including stores, now have the BrickLink
standard logo.

I don't know if this lost distinction is the result of a BrickLink site change
or something else. I use Windows 7 and Firefox 58 by the way.

Thanks for your time, Matthew

I have done that Randy, thanks.

Thank you!

The little white square escapes notice. I'll try to remember it's there.

Why does BL suggest a store that refuses to sell to the customer?

Of course, once I go to the store and find out I am stoplisted, I can least favourite
the store and then exclude least favourited stores from the wants list calculation,
but surely it should automatically exclude stores that refuse to sell to me (just
as I can exclude stores that will not ship to me).

Check the checkbox Exclude stores that stoplisted me

I have and it is ticked, yet the wants list still suggests stores that have stoplisted
me.

Hello,

The subject problem, or new shortfall, has been going on since the roll-out of
BrickLink 2.0.

When conducting an inventory search using the top-center field on each BrickLink
page, for example a search on "dark bluish gray wedge plate" as pictured, the
color gets dropped from the top-center field once the search results are posted.

This behavior is unlike a store search or Items-For-Sale parts search, where
the color is retained in the search field for possible follow-on searches using
the same color, a highly likely circumstance for many projects.

It would be nice if the color were also retained in the top-center field, given
the likelihood that a user will search their inventory for a different part of
the same color.

This desired trait or attribute or whatever term applies, would alleviate the
need to repeatedly type things like "dark bluish gray" under 2.0, just as it
did under 1.0.

Sincerely, Matthew

Hi Matthew,

I didn't read the whole post to be 100% honest, but a work around is to click
on the store name and open in new tab then click the cart. FYI I always use
ctrl and click to open in new tab, shift click opens in new window as well.

Hope it helps somewhat until they re-program the buttons. Its always annoying
when websites think they know best and removed options you use.

  Hi

Would it be possible to block a buyer having an email from a given country eg
Russia, but his postal address is the UK?

Just got yet another scammers ordering from my shop with this very suspicious
config, even got negative from himfeedback from him.

Or a setting that enables us to block and oblige the buyer to pay buy only with
iban

Another problem are legit buyers who use forwarders. I suppose some sellers
don't like to do this but I haven't had an issue.

I don't think so

How would you handle gmail.com users for instance?, you have no idea which country
they come from.

You could probably do something by looking at the IP address, but people can
hide behind proxy servers etc. so that would not be guaranteed to work either.

Hello,

My pc needed a memory clearing and restart. Then with a goal of reopening my
present carts in individual tabs, I landed on the new (global) My Store Carts
page.

In the recent past, right-clicking on each listed store name with cart items
allowed me to quickly open a new tab for each different cart. From there, I
could continue to check for and verify parts in each store from tab to tab while
progressing on a rough build design. (I tend to search stores for common items,
and use the Wanted List for less-common ones, since the start-to-finish Wanted
List process is more cumbersome than simply shopping, and since numerous varying
parts are needed to ensure builds work, are solid, and are in desired colors.)

Now I can no longer open new tabs from the My Store Carts page (nor is it possible
from upper-right cart icon drop-down store options, btw). Furthermore after
clicking on View Cart, a new cart page shows up which is vague on how to shop
in the store associated with the new cart page. (This vagueness is different
than the weird "Search in this store" claim made in the store search field --
weird because it's inaccurate when confined to Wanted List items. However
I am reminded of it, since the similarity is that I don't see how newcomers
are supposed to figure out such unclear or absent navigation information.)

Back to the topic:

Prior steps from prior store carts summary page:
1. Right click on store name;
2. Open store cart in new tab

New and maybe "improved" steps since the above process is now not possible from
the My Store Carts page:
1. Open new tab;
2. Type or Copy & Paste "bricklink.com" into address field;
3. Hover over cart icon and click on View Cart in the drop-down options (By
the way, this generates a new page in which the pertinent store name is not readily
evident in the tab when multiple tabs are open. Instead this tab-name space
is now primarily taken up with the less informative word "BrickLink".);
4. In lieu of having a clear option to continue shopping on the newly opened
page, click on the store name to see what happens -- store shopping page
opens

So assuming one does not want to see the different and more familiar shopping
cart view from the shopping page (i.e. Step 5), the new process is twice as long
as the one which existed a few days ago. (And it involves the creation of a
wholly new alternate shopping cart page, which is interesting.)

In and of itself the above comparison shows only two added steps. However cumulatively
over the course of a project and over months, it adds hundreds and thousands
of new steps to individual shopping, and for the community I guess millions or
billions of newly required user steps are added. And such additions are the
norm, which is now not-so-surprisingly accepted by BrickLink the company.

In short, many visualizations have been spread out and many new process steps
added -- these are the two overarching design elements of BrickLink 2.0,
with some but few exceptions. And some processes get broken along the way and
seemingly left in the dust to never be repaired (e.g. My Store Shopping Settings
... more hundreds, thousands, millions, and possibly billions of added navigation
steps ... to now do this formerly-once task over and over and over again).

I suggest that BrickLink (a) never make previous processes longer; (b) stop spreading
out data to minimize customers' need to scroll and page; and (c) focus on
repairing existing problems in lieu of new page roll-outs.

Sincerely, Matthew

Hello,

I have noticed several times that the shopping cart is not working properly when
the cart icon is located at the top right browser window. For some reason the
"View Cart" button is hidden and I have no access to jump directly to the shopping
cart of the corresponding brick shop owner.

The cart works with the centered page layout, however when the cart icon is fixed
to the top right browser window, the "View Cart" button is hidden.

Is there a chance to improve this?

There have been several discussions (and suggestions) on that subject. They
are generally ended after a few “one’s part ‘with (heavy) playwear’ is another’s
‘damaged’ part and again another’s ‘not to be sold ever’ part” comments.

Like there are rules for new and used parts that are clear and universal, they
would be rules for damaged. I suggest the following:

'Damaged parts are part that have either heavy scratches, discoloration,
toothmarks or damage to the part.'

Concerning the fact that some parts that are used for some sellers would be considered
as damaged for others, that is the beauty of difference between the stores and
what makes the feedback so helpful.

What I meant was more like:
1. Did you look at the other suggestions and discussions?
2. Why do you think these other suggestions weren’t implemented?
3. Why do you think yours would be?
4. Isn’t it wasteful to have multiple identical suggestions? (Spreading the
votes, forgetting the past….)

It's possible to search and see only New or Used:

That I know, we are talking about damaged used parts not new or used. The tick
box could give buyers the chance to select if they want to have or not damaged
parts.

In the same time, the damaged parts will stop having impact on average price of good used parts.
Incomplete sets doesn't affect the average price of sets.

It's possible to de-select the average price:
https://www.bricklink.com/priceGuideSettings.asp?viewFrom=P

Again I am not talking about the way prices are diplayed for me as a seller but
give the right average price by taking out the very low priced damaged parts
out of the calculation.

If buyers weren't aware of damage, the part wasn't correctly listed:

Used Parts - Parts which have been previously used and are presumably still
in good, usable condition.
If the parts do show excessive wear, discoloration, excessive scratches, other
marks, etc. this should be noted in the *Comments* field.
