it sells

I don't wanna burst your bubble but that is counterfeit. I have seen them
come up a lot in my unsorted lots. They are LEPIN used in their rip off of some
of the Harry Potter sets. If you check I doubt you will find part numbers on
the bottom but they will probably still have a logo but it will likely be rounded
off or smoother. They are likely still printing them from stolen molds that
were supposed to have been destroyed. Another give away is the color mixing of
Bley and Tan which was common of their HP knock offs. I find this a lot in lots
of bulk parts I buy on auctions. Another common version has Red and Dark-Red
marbling also usually with worn logos but no part numbers.

Its great because when printed on a standard printer page you can just lay the
tire on the picture for size and width comparison. I added several of the 'additional
notes' from the catalog entry to the pictures as well to identify variants.
I highly recommend this chart for every person identifying tires.

Tyres? Ah... tires!
I think it's better to sell them separately, this way buyer has the choice
to put any tire on the wheel, as there can be multiple assemblies. IMO.

The IOSS number should be on the VAT receipt generated by BrickLink.
You'll need to use a service like Pirate Ship to send the IOSS number electronically
- you can't when you purchase postage at the retail counter, and PayPal's
implementation of Ship Station doesn't provide for it.

EU VAT will be collected by BrickLink. The buyer is responsible for any customs

Make sure to send the BL IOSS number electronically, or your buyer could get
charged VAT again.
Highly suggest a service like Pirate Ship's Simple Export Rate (chat with

Something odd while processing an order this morning: All items within the order
that were sold out, had the red zero active-link to stockroomed (zero) inventory
of that item. What you’d normally see when the “Retain items in store inventory
after items are sold out” is activated within store listings.
|
It happens from time to time.
It seems related to the instant payment feature.
Just before the buyer's trying to pay, BrickLink moves the order items to
stockroom so no one can buy them while the buyer's is on PayPal for example.
This can last up to 10 minutes as what I've heard, don't know where.
So the buyer can make a few trials if he doesn't manage to fully pay immediately...
When paid, the quantity of the items is ajusted accordingly to the order, and
the items are "un-stockroomed".
But apparently from time to time, or when the quantity falls to zero, those
cannot be "un-stockroomed" because quantity==0.
So they remain in stockroom with quantity==0.
This is normally purged at midnight EDT, and/or if you active the corresponding
feature in your shop settings...
|
I see. Thank you.
Though now I'm left wondering why it's the first time for us then
Thanks again, in any case.

In all our years operating as a vendor here, we’ve used that feature on a handful
of specific listings only, rarely iow. But every listing within this morning’s
order with zero remaining, linked to a stockroom listing of said item. I knew
straight away what the issue was, that the feature had been activated over all
of our inventory. After processing the order, I simply went into our inventory
management page and reset it.
Really don’t know how the change occurred other than not by us. First off, I’m
hardly on that page anymore. Secondly, as said; we've never used that feature
in that manner before. Maybe last night’s update/maintenance or some other event,
who knows
This interrupts how we utilize the very useful Stockroom feature here on BrickLink.
So yeah, perhaps more salient an issue for us than maybe some other vendors.
Nonetheless, just a heads-up to check yours

Do some members simply take the shipping methods off their store instead of just

Absolutely, you can disable any shipping method.
Simply create a new one (as a copy of), and forget the previous.
Later on, next year for example, simply delete the disabled ones.

Weeeeellll... Unless you're trying to update your shipping methods and want
to delete one. It won't allow you to delete the method if there is an order
still open using that method.

I think you can disable it though, then you just delete it when the order falls
off in 6 months

If you don't want to look at these check the "File" boxes and they

| Hi,
I am reopening my store after a few years, and while I was listing inventory
again, I noticed that the listing process is a bit cumbersome. I have lots of
experience in software development now, and I am building a chrome extension
to make listing as fast as possible. Some features I will be including are:
You will navigate in the Bricklink catalog to an item. Click the "Add to
Inventory" link, which will open the extension's popup
The popup will have a single form that will list all the colors available for
the selected catalog item with 6 month average sales prices and an input for
quantity. This will allow you to add all colors of the part all at once.
Once submitted, the item will be added to store inventory in all colors with
a quantity above 0, at the 6 month average sales price.
Later I can add more customizability features.
Bricklink blocks requests from their own address with the CORS policy, so I will
have to build a Proxy api with a database to manage API keys.
Because the proxy makes things more complicated, I think I will use React.js
to build the interface in the popup. I would have a settings page where users
can add/update api keys. this page would be password protected with JWT.
Voice your inputs. I think this would be a welcome feature for sellers to increase
profitability, I am interested if other sellers think the same, or what features
they think would be bennificial.

I imagine it will be regional, based on what the local postal providers can offer.
It shouldn't affect bricklink sales at all though. It is up to sellers to
provide any tracking in a dispute about non-delivery, whether that tracking comes
from their postal service or paypal.
|
You're right there of course; I was more thinking in terms of user interface
and data provided by bricklink to paypal - so far I send tracking numbers to
customers by message, because the way it's displayed in the order seems a
bit hidden to me (not to mention domestic packages often arrive before I get
round to typing in the numbers). If that means that from now on paypal will think
I don't provide tracking and raises red flags, that would be an annoyance.

| This has been a most instructive thread. I see my "contact" messages
only go back one month, which to me means, if a message is about an order, it's
very important that it is attached to that order, because after one month, it
will be gone otherwise.
I've made sure messages go to my email as well, which I wasn't doing
to prevent myself replying to them by email.
THank you so much for replying Sylvain

|
It’s “all other messages are purged after 1 month.” The messages attached
to an order are only purged when the order is purged. So they are still visible
when there’s a dispute.
Also, I only quoted a small part of the help page.
First, there’s a difference between “deleted” and “purged.” “Deleted” means
you’re not seeing it anymore on your My Messages page, but it’s still in the
database. “Purged” means it’s entirely removed from the database.
It seems to work this way:
— If a message is still linked somewhere (in the recipient’s inbox, or in the
details of an order), then it’s not purged.
— If there’s no link any more, the message is purged.
So, if you deleted your order messages and the order is purged, then the messages
are purged too. But if you didn’t delete them, the messages should still be
there and visible in your My Messages, even if the order is purged.

think you can guarantee

I wonder what would happen if you said in your terms that you don't sell

Focusing on what you're doing in your store and not worrying about what other

I didn't get a response from the help desk, so I'm asking here.
I noticed that I can part together some official sets using 100% new parts. Am
I allowed to list those sets as "new incomplete" if I mention in the
comments that I parted together the set myself using new parts and am missing
box/instructions/stickers? Or are you only allowed to list a set as "new
incomplete" if you only took items out of a NISB set?
If you are not allowed to list it as "new incomplete", could you list
it as "used incomplete" and say in the comments that you parted it together
using new parts and am missing box/instructions/stickers?
Given that:
"Custom sets or instructions may be listed, provided they do not infringe
on any intellectual property rights, including those of the LEGO Group."
I do not believe I could list it as a custom set instead?
Thanks for information and if possible would like clarification from an admin.

Upon further investigation I have found at least one lot
https://store.bricklink.com/SortStation?itemID=336122737#/shop?o={%22invID%22:%22336122737%22}
where this exact scenario is listed as “new incomplete” and it has been listed
for over a year.
Wether this is due to it being allowed or simply never noticed is up for debate.
|
The big question here is whether that tile is original. There have been a few
fakes sold on BrickLink over the years before we caught them, so maybe it's
one of those.
In general, we do frown on used sets that have been BrickLinked, especially some
of the highly collectible ones like this:
But we don't proactively remove them. If they get reported, they will get
taken down though.
If someone wants to sell a collection of parts that may or may constitute a complete
set, they can always list it as a custom lot.
|
By custom lot, do you mean custom item or something different? Because as I mentioned
in the original post, a custom item of a set produced by Lego, that already has
a catalog entry, parted together or not, would technically be infringing on Lego's
intellectual property rights, and therefore not be allowed (correct me if I'm
wrong).
I'm still puzzled by all this. It sounds like the guidelines are more discretionary
than anything else. If a set has no exclusive parts, it sounds like you'd

| Hi!

A good question. Real quickly...
Until you receive a definitive answer from on high; combine the guidelines of
the two sub-conditions below, taken together and in the absences of further TOS
enunciation on the topic, you get a bit closer
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102
"Complete - Contents are brand new and may have been removed from their
plastic bags and handled for inventorying purposes only. Includes all contents
that originally came with set including extra parts, stickers, instructions (if
any) and original box/packaging.
Incomplete - Contents are brand new, but may have been removed from plastic bags
for inventory purposes or to remove other contents from the set. The set is missing
some of the contents, instructions or original box/packaging. The description
should clearly state what exactly is missing."
I'm gonna dig around some more though, see if there are more defined guidelines

Yes, please let me know if you find anything!
I’m not too concerned wether or not I can list it as new (incomplete). I’m
more than willing to list something like that as used (incomplete), and write
in the comments that it was parted together using new parts and is missing stickers
etc.
I’m more concerned wether I can list that under the set at all and not get in
trouble. I think it’s fine if you do that for used sets, but that isn’t explicitly
stated in the guidelines either. People seem to complete used sets and list them
all the time. I don’t see how parting together the whole thing would be any different.
Still, I would rather be safe than sorry and get some direct guidelines for this
type of thing before I go listing stuff.

Upon further investigation I have found at least one lot
https://store.bricklink.com/SortStation?itemID=336122737#/shop?o={%22invID%22:%22336122737%22}
where this exact scenario is listed as “new incomplete” and it has been listed
for over a year.

There's a reason for the colours, less so AFAIK for the parts descriptions
descrepencies.
Back in the day, LEGO didn't disclose to everyone else what they called the
colour shades. Most of the older colours are called what they were by the public
when Bricklink got the original data from Peeron. Then in the early '00s
the colour change happened and the greys got called LBG and DBG do differentiate
from 'old' light and dark grey. More recently we can see what LEGO call
everything, and dark bluish gray and dark stone grey are used variably on different
websites.
I suppose it would be possible to realign the colours to LEGOs names, but that
would cause a whole lot of confusion. Personally I'm happy with green being
green, and tan being tan rather than brick yellow.

There is nothing special or unique in that set so there shouldn't be an issue
with the listing. If there was a sticker sheet or decorated part that only came

set should have a unique part that makes it the set and that piece is missing,
is it really the set?

Except it is missing its instructions which are what make the set unique technically
speaking. But to the best of my knowledge bricklink isn’t worried with the “philosophical”
side of what makes a set a set as I’ve seen many listing for incomplete sets
that contain only a fraction of the parts for a sub build like a car or something
inside the set even if the rest of the set contained multiple other exclusive
parts so i don’t really see how this would be any different so as long as it’s
listed as incomplete then I don’t see why it wouldn’t be allowed
|
The one I remember seeing it done on - Yoda's Lightsaber - was not a normal
retail set and supposedly special. Whether that is due to licensing or the nature
of the set, I don't know. If LEGO allow sales of a special product that is
missing what makes it special, does it devalue the actual product? That probably
is different to buying a retail set, taking out the minifigs and splitting the
rest into individual builds sold as incomplete sets.

Yes. Dark Bluish Gray (Bricklink) = Dark Stone Gray (LEGO)

In a twist Light Bluish Gray (BL) = Medium Stone Grey (LEGO)

to the best of my knowledge, it isn't that rare of a thing and for sets listed
as used incomplete and missing all of the exclusive items to be assumed that
it was parted together. its a rather common thing so i wouldn't be to worried.
plus used sets it doesn't matter where the parts came from so long as it
matches the inventory so telling people it was parted together doesn't make
any difference at all
