You can be happy that we have consistent rules and still be sad for the orphaned
sprued amulets at the same time.

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 41145 Name: Ariel and the Magical Spell
*
41145-1 (Inv) Ariel and the Magical Spell
214 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2017
Sets: Disney: Disney Princess: The Little Mermaid

* Add 1 Part 28628c01pb03 Pearl Dark Gray Mini Doll, Necklace Amulet with Yellow Stone Pattern, 2 on Sprue (Counterpart)

Comments from Submitter:
I just realized that this part was still orphaned. Awkward since it is in a minifig, but it can be a counterpart, right?

No, this does not meet the definition of a Counterpart:

This request will not be accepted.

Randy

This is very likely something so massive that we don't even want to think
about it...but a possible solution to the minifig definition problem on the road
map is to create plain and deluxe minifigs. For any minifig wearing something
on its neck, hands, or feet there could be two entries: Plain with only strictly
minifig pars and one with everything that the instructions or box shows. If
we did that then this set could have the Deluxe Ursula and an extra amulet and
then a plain Ursula and a spued amulet as an alternate. It would give those
silly dressed up Belville dolls some actual legitimacy and would make room in
the catalog for the absolutely stunning Firefly seen on the box for 76117. If
you haven't seen that guy blasting off with his jetpack and firing a killshot
from his hand cannon go see it right now.

The plan in the future is to include all minifigure parts separately in the Regular
Items section just like they came originally in the sets. To go along with this,
minifigures would become just another possible assembly from the set that can
be sold together or in parts. This project requires development of the site to
include an assemblies section in the inventories which would include minifigures
and any other items currently in the Counterparts section that are just assemblies
of other parts from the set (such as wheel/tire assemblies, hinge brick assemblies,
turntable assemblies, special assemblies, brick-built animals, etc.).

Randy

That sounds like a good plan, but it does sell Firefly a little short.

If you say so!

I think that is a good idea. But have you seen Firefly with flames shooting
out of his jetpack and cannon yet? If not go see it.

Yes, I have, and I think it is very cool.

I really like how the "Power Effects" or whatever they call them have added a
lot of richness to the Super Heroes sets. They make them feel so much more "alive".

I thought I would build it when I bought the set, but I wound up not doing so
because who cares about Firefly? I need to figure out someone else who wears
a jetpack. Maybe I'll make my own custom superhero just to display that
majesty.

This is how these parts are handled in the inventories. Until a later time when
minifigs are just considered another possible assembly from a set and all of
their parts are included separately in the Regular Items section, these parts
follow the above guideline.

At the very least can you and I issue a joint resolution that this is very sad
for the sprued amulets?

I find no sadness in it. Quite to the contrary, I like that their are clear guidelines
for how things are handled for parts on sprues and it is consistent. We owe a
lot to Robert for getting all of this work started, and I and the others are
following in his footsteps.

In fact, Marek, Paul and I will be starting on some of the projects on the Catalog
Roadmap in the not-to-distant future. Marek is actually almost done with getting
all of the collectible minifigure series there own full set entries. That will
be one project done. I have an idea of what one of my next choices is, but the
other admins and I will need to discuss what to move on next. Keep an eye out
because we have not forgotten Robert's legacy.

Cheers,
Randy
