One of eight, Sylvain! You're flying in the rarified air, my friend
Then my thoughts went somewhere they hadn’t previously been: Who are the most
prolific buyer only accounts on BL? I'm talking about those that only
ever have been here to spend money, feeding us vendors Although in any
given month, some understanding of who's got the highest sales numbers using
the Featured and Highlighted store page, is available, there really is no way
to know who is dropping the most coin on BL.
There are some indicators of purchase-activity, gleaned from history vis-à-vis
feedback over time. Turns out that there's only three straight buyer memberships
that have reached the feedback level of Dark Pink here. Two of which incidentally

Aren't prolific buyers just high volume amazon drop sellers? Selling bricklink
sellers' stock on amazon for a higher price than here.
|
If I'm not mistaken the buyer with the most orders on bricklink is one of
the USA companies that builds custom sets to resell. I've had a few orders
from them and always can tell its them as they ask to write the order number
on the package

• Can anyone advise if they something wrong or ill-advised that I need to fix
in the messaging around my old store policies or settings?
• In a few words, what are some of the biggest changes and gotchas for old-fashioned
sellers returning?
• For example, from what I remember, when I get an order, I pack it and weigh
it and use postcalc to get an idea of what to ask for shipping? And because even
the tiniest brick is non-machineable there is that minimum the post office will
charge me for. Does that sound right?
I appreciate your time!
Thanks in advance,

Welcome back!
Several things
1. You say you don’t charge tax however bricklink does now in the USA so you
may want to remove that as it may confuse buyers. 2. You may want to remove all
payment options except “PayPal onsite” and “stripe” as now that bricklink collects
sales tax any places that bricklink collects it have to be paid onsite as they
collect the tax that way so offering other payment options will only confuse
buyers and can lead to problems if a buyer pays offsite which can cause issues
with you keeping sales tax money as it can’t be remitted to bricklink in any
other way then during the payment when bricklink removes it via partner fee

There is no standard. And from which Country? And sellers can apply any shipping
price they want, they don't have to follow the postal shipping rate.
Sincerely, no one can reply to this question.
Very sorry.
|
Mhm it can vary a lot, for example shipping in my store to Poland starts at $7.49
CAD but other stores in Canada might charge $20+ and store in France would have
completely different prices.

Seems to be a bricklink random issue. In the past I would have that issue all
the time and I still do occasional but the trick is to wait 5-10 min and then
it works normally in most cases

spend the exact same on packing every year, otherwise for packaging you add the
exact price as part of your shipping cost
|
That means you manually invoice OR you've to calculate an average on X $0.10
envelope and Y $3 carton per year and decide to add say $1?
In short, it's also based on regular years orders / packaging amounts?
|
I set up the shipping methods to account for about a 50 cent "margin"
which covers basic packing costs and such. not quite sure what a "carton"
is in shipping terms tho as when you say that all I think of is a carton of eggs
from a store or something. i dont keep an exact amount just a rough estimate.
|
Yep, that's it, you make a rough average.
Carton meant carton postal boxes or say bigger ones, which can cotain sets for
ex.
They can be quite expensive.
|
ah big boxes, I dont really use many of those and the few I do use I get free
as I reship the large items in the boxes they were in when I bought them (as
I do almost all my shopping online)
| That means you could also decide you pay approx $500 of packaging per year, and
include this in the prices to pay that amount.
I don't mean it's better, I mean it's probably as easy.
|
i guess its a preference then as that seems super complicated to me
|
| for example if it costs $8.59 to ship a package I set my shipping cost as the
nearest 50 cent interval which would be $8.99 and then that portion covers the
packaging cost and doesn't need to be updated every year
|
You're lucky! Within the last recent years (since crazy-covid), boxes and
such maybe doubled their price. I've to account this for 2024, but see, it's
May and I still have the 2023 rates
|
wild! Ive seen some shipping rates go up by at most 50 cents but some drop by
$1 and for supplies its gone up only a little (10% or so) in the past 3-4 years.
I didn't really sell much before the covid rush so I dont have any knowledge
of prices then

Yes, generally. I just have flat shipping right now but in days of yore I came

Yes, and even the packaging.
Count a year of average packaging, ex: $500
Then count your average sale per year, and increase your prices so that amount
would be roughly paid by the orders.

and payment fees as part of the item price
| Nobody adds a % for rental, Internet or Toner cost.
It can be the same for packaging materials.

At least a memorable phone number
I recall the days (seems long ago, now) when businesses would vie for memorable
phone numbers, being more impactful before the internet. Remember doing so myself.
|
They are cool! I still remember when I was choosing my phone number I made sure
that they last 4 digits spelled out “nubs” in hopes it would help me remember
my phone number. But even after 3-5 years I don’t know my phone number 😭😭 I
know the first 3 numbers and that it ends with nubs but the middle is a guess
|
So then "nubs" holds some deeper meaning for you, beyond that of a perhaps
made up username? What's the personal significance? Don't see any association
with your given name either. I know, too nosey But just an overly curious type,
who enjoys a good backstory
|
No worries it isn’t that deep but I couldn’t think of any other 4 letter words
to help me remember my phone number so since nubs sounds cool (backstory on the
username post you made) and since I could only choose that last 4 digits and
was on the spot it’s what i went for
