| When you upload a small image, there is a checkbox which will automatically resize
small images to their proper dimensions, would it be possible to also have an
option so that large images may be automatically resized to their dimensions
as well? (640x480) This would save considerable time when uploading new images.
Thanks,
Andy

That would be great also to have that when listing items and using your own picture
instead of the bricklink stock picture!

How about when you upload a large picture, have the option to submit the small
one also.

This would be awesome. There's a lot of large images I don't upload because I
am lazy.
And most new cameras don't have the 640x480 option anymore.

I definitely hope this will get implemented (I just talked to someone else who
is doing the ninjago images, and the reason none of the new Ninjago images have
large images is because there there is no auto-resizer for large images)

Hi,
it wouldn't make sense to resize all uploaded images to the same size as there
are several suitable sizes, depending on item type, item size, details etc.
For example, most parts (but not all) are best viewed at 320 x 240 pixel.
Some vertical orientated parts would look better at 240 x 320.
Some larger or more detailed parts would look better at a larger size such as
400 x 300 but not necessarily at 640 x 480.
Having a large image resizer which would resize images to either 640 in width
or 480 in height would result in more work for the catmins and would slow down
the approval process as we then would have to tweak almost each image.
Already now most of the approval time goes by with tweaking images.

if there's anything we can do help with this let us know. Maybe make a picture
guidelines or tips and tricks? then e-mail it to people that submit the most
pictures?

I sell alot of action figures at a popular auction site on the internet. I just
use the batch function of photoshop to resize a whole folder of images at once
to make thumbnails. This type of batch function is also in the free program irfanview
and a little easier to use.

| Why is it that Adobe Photoshop is always the imaging software referred to on
BL? It only costs about $700. Do I live on a different planet or something?

The dummiest imaging software is capable to resize images, MS Paint for example,
comes for free with each Win version. Or MS Photoeditor, comes (came) with Word/Office.
Resizing and cropping images doesn't need rocket science software.
Simple software is mostly better for simple tasks and much faster.

It may be because in the olden days when your computer came preloaded with all
kinds of free trial software, it often came with Photoshop Elements so that's
what everyone used, and "photoshop" became a verb.

Because Photoshop has been genericized for any photo editing software.
Some other examples are Xerox, Band-Aid, and Kleenex.
I personally use Paint.net as it is free and has all of the features that I need.

| I'm a web programmer and there are plug-ins which allow for image resizing automatically.
I'm surprised BrickLink doesn't utilize such plug-ins. (Or maybe I just missed
it).
Basically what happens is you would upload one image (preferably a large one).
Then icon size, thumbnail size, small, medium, and large are automatically generated
with the correct aspect ratio. I think this would save from having to upload
a small and large image separately. Or maybe theres a reason for the way they
have it implemented?
