| Hello everyone,
I´m a long-time collector but quite new in the selling game, and I have a question
that I didn´t find a clear answer to yet.
I like to restore vintage sets, and for my personal collection I sometimes use
replica stickers - usually from 'brickstickershop' - to restore and brigthen
up the sets. They´re high-quality stickers matching original size and colours,
and often are available for sets where it´s hard or even impossible to get the
original sticker sheets anymore.
So every now and then the collection gets too big, and I´d like to sell some
of the sets again.
My questions about this are:
- Is it acceptable / legal to offer vintage sets which use replica stickers?
(Of course with the explicit note in the offer listing that replicas were used.)
- If yes, should it be listed as 'custom item' or would it be okay to
list in the original category? (again, with explicit note of replica stickers
being used.)
Notes: I'm not planning to sell replica sticker sheets, which I know are
third-party items and are not allowed here. I´m just speaking of a handful of
sets where replica stickers were already applied. (picture below shows my 363/555
hospital with replica stickers.)
Sorry for the wall of text, but I want to do everything correct. I´m very thankful
for any constructive answers.

Not really. At the very least they should be listed as incomplete sets, as they
are not complete if they are missing the original stickers. Personally, I think
the replica stickers should be removed so as not to cause confusion later on.
I think third party direct copy replacements for official LEGO parts to be problematic.
You know they are not original and you may say this when you sell them, but when
the next person comes to sell them, they might not have realised when they bought
it or they find it years later and sell it as having the original stickers, when
in reality they have replica or fake parts (as in copies of the genuine LEGO
items masquerading as the originals). In that sense, I find custom created items
that are different to genuine LEGO products less a problem, as they are not pretending
to be something that they are not and there should not be confusion as to whether
they are genuine.

Going by the rules on
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=103
| ...
Replicas and Counterfeit Items: All LEGO items must be original and genuine. Replica boxes, photocopies of instructions, or any other counterfeit listings are not permitted.
|
This should include Replicated Sticker Sheets and Stickered Items with such Stickers.
If it wasn't BL would be full with counterfit sticker sheets and parts which
may also be copyright infringement in certain cases.

| Easy answer, no, you cannot sell them here. It's copyright infringement. |
