| Hello,
I have made various orders lately, and two were for the same item, x71 - Rubber
Belt Small (Round Cross Section) - Approx. 2 x 2
Sometimes these come in a box, sometimes taken out, both sellers had them listed
as new, I have left feedback for both, but on closer inspection they are either
different parts or have one set been used?
The one on the right is definitely, x71, the one on the left I am not sure. Any
ideas? thanks

Both large rubbers it seems to be used and they are stretched out. Look at them,
their curves are irregular.

| Thanks, so the ones on the right are new, and the ones on the left are the same
product but used?

I don't think the diameter can change that much, even with a lot of use.
So I would guess they are not the same item. I don't know enough about rubber
bands though to say whether that much difference could be due to different production
runs, or if one of them is not Lego.
Just my 2c...

I feel pretty confident that those were not manufactured the same size. Do you
have a kitchen scale that measures decimals of grams? You can stretch the diameter
of a rubber belt some, but you can't stretch the weight and those larger
ones don't look thinner.
Rubber belts were handled poorly for many years. Randy and I have cleared a
lot of it up, but work remains. Bricklink only has PCC for the smallest white
belt and almost every white belt is . x37, x89, and x90 are all in inventories
in white and probably a lot of that is incorrect. But we can see from service
pack 9961-1 that all 4 probably exist (I say probably because we can see there
are 4 sizes, but maybe they aren't actually the same part as they've
been identified as, which are usually red, blue, and yellow.)
I would say one of your sellers got ahold of one of the mysterious ones and assumed
they were x71 because they were white.

| Well actually they do look a little thinner...but still if they were just stretched
out from use, what were they used for that stretched them out and kept them circular?
I don't deal in used belts. I sell round ones that were in a sleeve or
bag and football shaped ones that were on a belt holder. I would expect a band
that was permanently misshapen by use to be something other than round.
