| Some quick background. My parents and I moved from Falls Church, Virginia to
Germany in 1965. My father worked for a division of Johnson&Johnson and was
responsible for US military sales in Europe. As you can imagine this was an
amazing thing for me to experience. i turned 4 years old in September of 1965
and and it was either at this birthday or my following one when my parents presented
me with a most amazing lego set. Both of my parents have passed and I am now
a 62 old retired financial executive with a decent amount of free time on my
hands. Which i am now using to organize the the "stuff" that my parents
collected and saved for me over the years ( i am an only child, so i just need
to decide what to keep or not to keep). So here is a description and I will
try my best to post a couple pictures. There are two sets of lego boxes that
act as organizers for the pieces in a very nice wooden box with the Lego logo
displayed in the center of the top of the box. The dimensions of the box are
16.5 inches by 16.5 inches by 3 inches. Two fasteners open to allow the hinged
top to open. The box comtaines two lego piece organizers that have "lego
system" and the numbers 040 on the outside of the cardboard organizers..to
me the box and pieces look to be in great shape considering the fact that they
traveled frequently and went from Germany to New Jersey then to california and
ultimately to pennsylvania. I am going to try to attach pictures. But anyone
can let me know if these have any balue and if they do how could that be determined.
Thank you in advance gor your help..
Bob

ok the box is definitely a 824-1 it has no lattice work on the inside of the box. The pieces do not have a top to the box as the box is used as a divider in the wooden box. I am going to try to upload pictures again.

well being an only child traveling constantly, this lego set kept me occupied. For me it was the 1965 version of an ipad for a five to eight year old of today. It probably helped my parents stay sane. I want thank you and the others that have provided info to me and wish everyone here all the best. Thank you

| Not knowing which set it is exactly, but just generally speaking 1960's and
70's basic type sets are honestly not terribly valuable. There are some collectors,
as there is for eveything that exists, but not a lot of them in contrast to how
many sets still exist. Boxes and paperwork can be a little more valuable, but
again, there isn't a huge demand for sets of that era. You should post pics
