| Hi all,
Recently I had problems with an APO/FPO adress.
Buyer pretend shipment to this address, but my Courrier doesn't ship to an
APO address.
After a few message I ask a new shipping addres, so he sent me a Japan addres,
and pretend the same shipping cost
I refuse, so he want to cancel order with refund.
I complete all, and today he sent me a neg.
Well, my I ask if there any chance to block buyer with an shipping address not
valid.
I hope to NOT offend anybody with this post.
Sincerely
em

The address wasn't invalid itself. It must just be a conflict between services.
That address is for someone in the US military. From the US, they get postage
just as if they were in the US even if they are deployed overseas.

It's actually a conflict between the United States and Japan.

APO and FPO packages must be sent via USPS (meaning only from locations within
the US States). It seems the seller was wrong in leaving you feedback because
you reside in Italy and could not use the APO / FPO address. Nicely ask him
to remove the feedback based on this information.

No, that isn't the case. APO/FPO addresses can receive international shipments,
but they *do* have go through USPS. But that is typical for international mail
- the national postal service makes delivery after the package goes through customs.

It does not, but that is not the point. We have shipped to APO/FPO as well. There
is no USPS here, but when shipment reaches US, it is handed over to USPS. So
OP needed to use a shipping service that does the same.
Niek.

Which courier do you use? DHL may not be able to deliver a package to an APO
address but Poste Italiane should be able to.

Good point Chicken - And I might be wrong about how the APO works, but in defense
of the original post why the negative feedback. It seems store likes to ship
DHL for its own reasons and can't complete the order. The Buyer is asking
a lot ordering from an overseas location from a Italian Seller, then not understanding
seller is not willing to ship items back to USA to then be forwarded back abroad
internationally to a APO location. I rest my case, retract the feedback.

I think the problem is that DHL is a private company and therefore doesn't
have access to U.S. military bases. Poste Italiane will hand the package off
to USPS for final delivery.

So you then shoot holes in the oil cans, oil would flow out, and then afterwards
you would clean up all the contaminated soil? Sounds like a lot of work

Hmmm, yes, but DHL definitely has a service where they hand off to USPS for final
delivery, at least here in the USA (DHL e-commerce). FedEx and UPS have similar
services. I'm not blaming the seller here, from what I see he did everything
correctly, it's just weird that DHL doesn't have their act together.

The seller says they only ship with DHL Express Courier, so I'm guessing
it's door-to-door. But yes, ordinarily DHL would hand off the package to
USPS for final delivery.

The feedback is deserved. The buyer completed their contractual obligations per
your terms, you dishonored them.
If you ship to the United States, a US buyer would have reasonable expectations
that you can ship to a US address. APO/AFO is considered domestic, even if it
is on foreign soil.
It is SHAMEFUL that you would leave a retaliatory negative feedback for the buyer,
especially a service member obligated to defend your country in the event of
a European war.
Here are some ways you could have resolved the situation:
1.) You could have explained that DHL won't let you ship to military bases
and offered to ship Poste Italiane.
2.) You could have assumed the extra cost and shipped to the Japanese address.
What would the loss have been, $10? Probably not even that, because you don't
receive your Paypal fees back on the refund.
Here are some options for the future:
1.) In your terms, add line, "We cannot ship to AFO/APO addresses."
2.) Stop shipping to the United States.
