Quick question, seeing as TLG was paying Universal Studios to make a movie promoting
LEGO, why do we have a movie promoting someone else?

Not appropriate in my opinion.

I think it's more so a movie about Pharrell, in Lego - Pharrell is known
to be a creative guy, so it makes sense as to why he and Lego partnered up to
make a movie about his life or whatever it is

Hmm, as far as I know Universal was supposed to do something similar to the LEGO
Movie, not make a documentary on a guy.

The effect of a documentary showing off a guys greatness is it will promote the
him not LEGO.

If you don't like who they are promoting and why, you might be better off
filing a formal complaint with Universal Studios and The LEGO Group.

I don't see how BrickLink is relevant to this discussion? BrickLink is only
involved with cataloging LEGO sets and gear that are related to both the movie
and LEGO. What involvement does BrickLink have with the movie itself?

I'm curious as to why you think BrickLink should get involved in this subject?

Cheers ...

How do you know that, though? Do you work for Universal Studios?

That would actually be pretty cool if you do. I know someone who does, but I
haven't spoken with them about this movie.

It will promote LEGO, though, by sheer virtue of Pharrell's popularity.
I can't say I'm personally a fan—just not big into music in general—but
he's got quite a following. Perhaps the LEGO Group will even release a set
in his honor.

Or it could be a total flop and a waste of money, but we won't know until
after it's been released. I'm hoping it does well; the guy deserves better.

I can understand if you feel that LEGO has become overly commodified, but those
concerns are better addressed directly to the LEGO Group and Universal Studios
rather than in a forum full of music lovers.
