Hi all,
I buy mostly bulk lots so I cannot be 100% sure that the minifigures I get are
authentic Lego so I inspect each part.

The legs and torsos and closed stud heads are easy to verify but how can I be
sure the hands and heads with partially blocked studs are Lego? I've inspected
loads and can't find either a part number or the Lego brand.
Thanks

Not all parts carry a brand or trademark.

For the most part the knockoffs are/feel off some way shape or form that is somewhat
obvious when compared directly.

Although they are getting quite good at it these days with regular building pieces..
but those carry different branding on studs.

I have 3 main levels of seperating the fake's out dealing with knockoffs
ect:

First i seperate each lego loose from one and other, this fase is done with 80%
accuracy somewhat to keep some degree of speed possible.
Any and all obvious fakes i see pre that fase already has been pulled..

When its all washed and drying; any and all obvious fakes are removed also.

Second in sorting when all parts gets sorted down to part type, all fakes are
pulled.. at the end of this stage 99% or something is removed.

And the last time it is checked, is when a part is uploaded.

Also when it is ordered it is checked.

So loads of checks, and times to pull before it can have the change to go out.
Although because of numourus checking fases the first ones can be a bit looser,
to maintain some speed.

Best of luck

The blocked open stud knockoffs that I find don’t seem to have a smooth top or
bottom - that’s where I notice it the most. The quality of the plastic seems
odd right at the top of the head. Hopefully you can see what I mean in the photo.

Hands are tricky because I find some vintage genuine hands seem like knockoffs.
When in doubt I don’t sell them and keep them for my own minifigs.

As the previous poster mentioned, it’s important to remember that many genuine
parts, especially vintage, won’t have markings. Sometimes they’re quite valuable!
