| Hello
I'm getting more and more orders with "Ask for a quote (backup method)"
as shipping method. They all come from new users, and they all are for just one
cheap item.
I'm a EU seller, and they all come from outside of EU buyers. I only have
auto checkout methods for outside of EU with a €15 minimum buy.
The items in these orders are compatible with auto checkout.
I usually just send a message explaining that the order is under the minimum
buy and offer to keep order open for the buyer to add more items or to cancel
the order. Never got any reply. Then I send a 2d message warning that I will
cancel the order the next day. No reply either, I generally cancel and move on.
Today, one of these buyers immediately placed back the order with the same item,
again with backup method, then sent a message asking why the order was cancelled.
I don't know how they managed to use that backup method once again?! Now
that person does not want to hear about minimum buy and just wants me to send
the item whatever the fees and shipping cost...
Does anybody know how I can stop these orders from being placed in my shop?
Thanks!

Simply create shipping methods, ex one or more for France with no minimum, but
one or more for Europe with a minimum?

| Already done, I have FR shipping methods, EU shipping methods and Outside of
EU shipping method. I checked them all and everything seems fine, I only have
minimum buy for Outside of EU methods.
Buyers from outside EU should only see the correct methods and therefore have
minimum buy requested. So I don't get how it ends up with an order on backup
method below the minimum!!

Ah but if you've a generic backup method without any limitation, then that's
normal: it's a backup.
You could have backup methods like for EU with a limitation but no shipping rate,
I guess (I'm not sure I didn't try this).
Or simply ignore the problem and kindly cancel the order(s)?

| I don't know where this backup method comes from, it's not in my shop's
settings. I guess it's a BL side method for items that do not qualify for
instant checkout (which is not the case for the items that we are talking about)
Anyway, yes, I will ignore and cancel, but 1) this is irritating and 2) It just
happened with a new user that is very confused about how BL works but does not
want me to cancel the order, and says that the minimum buy is my problem and
didn't show up in cart, so now I have to send a 10 cents part to the US and
fill custom forms etc. which is exactly the reason why I had a minimum buy for
overseas in the first place
Thanks for your help anyway!

| Hello,
I am pretty sure that your shipping settings are not correct. This is what is
shown to me at checkout.
Do you have the minimum buy set up for your store AND all your shipping methods?

| Thank you so much for doing a test!
I don't have minimum set for the store, only for the shipping methods, because
I don't want domestic and EU buyers to have the minimum buy restriction.
But it makes more sense now that I see the screenshot, and I guess there is no
way to have a minimum buy just for a geographical zone?

It could be possible.
See, here I have "Invoice me manually" (world) and "Facturez-moi
manuellement" (FR), both "backup" methodsset up to "Manual".
For both methods I could set up a different minimum, for example.
So I guess it should work?
Otherwise, when there's no solution it could be the problem to be reevaluated.
Can't you set a minimum for all?
Or no minimum (and maybe lots fees)?
Or you just ignore them and cancel them - you shouldn't receive so much?

It *should* be as long as you have a manual method for that zone - if you have
a manual method then the backup won't be used, I believe.

| Ok I think I get it, thanks a lot to you all!
So I will re-enable manual invoicing. But still, if this manual method has a
minimum buy, a potential buyer with less than minimum required in their cart
won't see it, or am I still missing something?
Thanks again!

If there's a minimum, no, buyer won't be able to order.
Just as if you put a 1000€ minimum in your shop, no order below could arrive.

Do you have "Backup for Instant Checkout" enabled on your store management
page? If yes, that is where your "Ask for a quote (backup method)" orders
are coming from.
