| Part 46212, besides being designed for transparency and so cosmetically very
different on any build, has a functional advantage over its side support counterpart
shown here in the Ninjago City instructions. Sure, placed elements are only visible
with transparent colors, but it can be used to conceal elements in solid colors
as well, or attach to tile parts as a loose connection, something the side support
version cannot do.
Please do not merge this part to 2454.

Well, at least as of now (highly doubtful since both are in production, but for

Nowadays we know TLG locks some colors to certain parts/molds so this might be
the case with these pieces as they have been coexisting for a long time now.

Yes, it’s the same as LEGO using 3001/2/3old moulds for (modern) 3001/2/3 trans-colours.
The catalogue says they are modern 3001/2/3 bricks and no one complains.

Yes, it’s the same as LEGO using 3001/2/3old moulds for (modern) 3001/2/3 trans-colours.
The catalogue says they are modern 3001/2/3 bricks and no one complains.

My comparison would be 3004 and 3065, both in production, but with specific connectivity
and usages. 3065 has had some solid versions in the past (and could in the future),
just as 46212 has. These are distinct parts in multiple ways and should not be
combined.
