| Hi everyone, I'm writing from Italy, I'm desperately asking for help
I am creating an inventory in which I would like to list all the box formats
of our beloved constructions, for a research aimed at creating an innovative
and very useful product, I ask if anyone already has a list or if they have had
the patience to list them all, I mean the formats and if he is willing to share
the list
thank you so much and happy legoacy to everyone

Hi,
You can download (parts of) the database: Click ‘Market,’ then choose ‘Download’
in the grey banner, then choose “Original boxes” in the left dropdown, tick the
checkbox to add dimensions, choose your format and download.
Then you open the file, sort by the dimension column… and cry your eyes out
(A quick count gives me 6476 formats.)

That's what I thought they were asking and that's also about as bad as
I thought the problem would be.

Correction: 6474.

Two other counts:
— total boxes: 19338
— unknown dimensions: 5361
That would make an average of less than one common dimension for 3 boxes.
But there’s a lot of dimensions only varying by 0.1cm(?) or so. For instance:
10.2 x 14.3 x 4.8
10.2 x 14.4 x 4.8
10.2 x 14.5 x 4.8
10.2 x 14.7 x 4.8
With cardboard boxes, I don’t think 1mm or 2mm should count, or should be measurable,
so you could group all those above as 14.5.
You’ll still end with hundreds if not a thousand boxes.

That is for flattened box dimensions. If you want dimensions of the packed box
you should download sets from the catalog with dimensions.

I get the exact same dimensions with both files.

I had not checked that. I just assumed that downloading boxes would have given
you the flattened dimensions.

I checked because even if I hope I would have thought of that reason if I had
seen weird dimensions during my quick test, I could also have missed them
Looking deeper, there’s actually a few weird differences (that disappear when
you only take the different dimensions). I first thought it was because one
set/box had a dimension when the corresponding box/set had none… but it’s actually
that:
— coltm-1 appears twice in the list of original boxes.
— there’s names differences: for instance 76386-1 Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion
Mistake, or without the colon,
— there’s category differences: Town / Classic Town / Police / Harbor, or without
Harbor.
Excepting these 30-something differences, the files are exactly the same.

Can you post all those in a catalog topic so the experts can take a look?
