Hello Friends!

For my second order I hit AUTO SELECT STORES & I ended up with about 12 vendors
to fill my order.
When I saw the parts lists after there was a lot of overlap & several of them
could have been combined to reduce the number of vendors & make it more worth
their time (several gracious vendors sent me less than 10 parts). Is there a
way to prioritize less vendors over price differences (I'm guessing the cheapest
prices listed got priority?), or do buyers manually edit the carts to make their
order more efficient?

Cheers!

Hi,

There used to be an option to Auto-select, with up to 3 choices: “min price,”
“min number of stores,” and “best price.”
The problem was that “min price” was sometimes more expensive or had fewer stores
than “min stores” 🤪
Now, only one remains (AFAICT, it’s “best,” and we don’t really know what it
means).

You can use the filter “Lots below Wanted qty” to reduce the choice of sellers.
It will prevent having two or more stores for the same item… but that won’t necessarily
prevent it from choosing “too many” stores.

Another possibility is to only use Auto-select for hard to find items, then you
check if the selected stores have the other items.
(You can (de)select items, and pick them among multiple WLs, in the Wanted Items
tab on the left of the Buy page.)

Finding a good selection of stores takes work/time… or (shipping) money

Amen to that.

For last week's order I devoted three entire days, from waking to sleep time,
doing nothing but shopping and configuring carts to buy parts for a moc.

On the first pass, I take a screen shot of the list of stores suggested by auto
select. Then I temporarily "unlike" the store that seems to have high
prices (or a crazy price for one of the items) and then do a second auto select
to see if the new result is better.

I spend time making tiny changes, such as swapping an unexpectedly expensive
color or part for a cheaper one that would work instead. Then try the auto select
again.

I make a spreadsheet of the two best lists of stores suggested by auto select.
Then I read the TERMS pages for each store and check for bad feedback, excessive
extra fees, limits too low, etc..

If the terms look fine, I shop inside each store, filtering on my Maybe-Some-Day
Wish List hoping to add a few treats to my basket since I'm already paying
postage for the package. That's my favorite part.

I might start the whole thing over again the next day before finally buying.

Last step: I convince myself that all of that shopping was part of the play and
therefore, apparently fun.

Good luck!

I check terms as soon as I can (so, even before the ‘screenshot’).

There’s way too many sellers flaunting laws and (payment) terms.
