Felt i needed to share this experience. Its bizarre...

about 3 weeks ago we purchased a UCS Millennium Falcon New in sealed box from
our Local New Zealand trading site.
We used the Buy Now feature as the price was very sharp.
We discussed it first as it was a little to good to be true.
The trader had 18 trades, 100% positive feedback and had been a member of the
site for 8 years.
Photos showed a genuine lego box, little bit of storage damage but intact seals.
I asked a question and it was well answered.

So we took the gamble. and hit Buy Now.

We were soooo excited. This set has been at the top of our wish list for a long
time.

After we had made the payment to their account and supplied delivery instructions
we got an email from the Trading site saying the account was a scam and had been
removed.
Well S@*#!!

We went threw all the usual steps. Its became a fraud investigation with the
trading site and our Bank. Told not to expect any type of result really and gave
our money up as gone.
Time to chalk it up to an expensive live lesson and move on. Pretty Bummed.

Flash forward to today and our posty turns up with a fairly large long cardboard
box.
Bit odd, we are expecting deliveries but nothing that large. The box has all
the markins of coming out of China. I get quite a lot for our business. Gave
it a wee shake and Hmmmmm sounds like lego.

Take it inside, Open it up and sure enough its an Unbranded UCS Millennium Falcon
in 17 sealed bags. What the?
After a bit of a search online were pretty sure this is a Mars Toy set.

So it seems we got done by a scammer with a small conscience.
Totally scammed for a decent amount of money and sent a brand new copy for a
quarter of the money.

Who does that ?

At least now were are smiling and laughing about the whole experience if not
a bit baffled and have what by reviews is a pretty tight model to build. So a
win I guess, well maybe a distant 3rd..

That’s disgusting! What a dirty trick!

Ordering a set, then you get a cheap knockoff, for twice the value that the scammer
bought it for!

Not only that but every time one of those Chinese knockoffs sell LEGO looses
business!

No haven't had any refund from the bank yet and yeah we wondered too if It
was a very odd marketing ploy to get more fake stuff out there lol

We will build this one for the fun of it but it will remain in our collect it
will never see the open market.

18 sales in 8 years sounds like a hacked account.

But now you have received something, have you informed the site and your bank?
As it is no longer that they scammed you by sending nothing but instead by sending
fake items.

Yes we were fearfull of the same thing but decided to give it a chance.

It's still an unbranded set. If any of the included elements do not have
the LEGO logo on them, it is still a scam attempt as they are not genuine LEGO
elements.

This is just a reminder: Non-LEGO items cannot be sold on this site.

I sincerely hope you enjoy what you got. Knock-off brands, if this is such a
brand, are not guaranteed to have the same clutch power as genuine LEGO elements.

This just occurred to me, even if the elements in the set are genuine, it could
still be an attempt by the seller to get rid of stock that may have been stolen
or acquired through illegal means.

Buyer beware. Receiving stolen goods can be construed as an offense, depending
on where you live.

Cheers ...

This could be true of any seller on the secondary market whether here, ebay or
elsewhere. In fact, it has happened here on a few occasions and hit the news.
