This is my first time ordering through BrickLink so I don’t know the right etiquette,
but I made a small order Dec 5th, and paid right away for a domestic order in
Canada.

Since then I tried contacting the seller asking a question (on Dec 6th), which
hasn’t been read. I reached out again a couple more times shortly after to follow
up on the question and no reply, and a day ago I asked if there were any issues
since the status of the order still showed that I had paid but the items hadn’t
been shipped.

I know that it’s during the holiday season and that this store is a small family
business with great reviews, so I assume they’re busy and haven’t been able to
get to the order yet, but I am just wondering if I should send a non shipping
alert because it’s been two weeks and no response at all, and when I made the
order it was still pretty early in December. I don’t have the intention of cancelling
the order, but was wondering if that sort of alert would be bad for them or for
me as a future buyer elsewhere. What should I do in this scenario?

First, have you read the sellers terms and is there something about shipping
time ? After, if the seller doesn't answer messages, start an NSS, that will
wake him up. Be sure to close the NSS when you receive your order.

I did check their terms and it doesn’t say anything about shipping time, although
they do say that they respond to messages between 8am and 8pm of my time, although
that schedule varies during the holiday season (I’m assuming it would extend
for actual orders too, but then again it’s been 2 weeks).

Two weeks and not answering messages isn't good practice. A Non-shipping
seller alert (in the problem center, problem order) is fully warrented.

It's been 2 weeks with no response, I would start an NSS as well as a PayPal
claim.
